Fantasy Bridgewalkers

Thinslayer

Senior Member
Greetings, traveller. I am the Bridge Maiden. You may call me Ponte. The bridge you see before you is a seemingly endless one that takes you to the place where dreams come true. The path is fraught with pain and difficulty, so you can turn back whence you came at any time. But for those who brave its treacherous path to the end, the reward is well worth the tribulation.

You do not travel alone, for many thousands of other adventurers have gone on before you. Some are friendly, some would ignore you, and some would slit your throat. Mind your ways and find out who is true or false, lest your foot stray and carry you into the abyss.

Remember, if the bridge should break or your steps falter for want of advice, call upon me, and I shall aid you. Farewell, traveller.

You find yourself at the entrance to a solid oaken bridge. The entrance is decorated with a wooden arch inlaid with unknown faces. Below the bridge lies an unfathomable, foggy abyss. The end of the bridge is similarly obscured by fog.

The time has come to take your first steps.

"So... how shall we go about this?" Argus looked around him, noticing a few others alongside him waiting at the entrance to the bridge. The bridge seemed to be very, very long, givenhe couldn't see to the end of it. It was either that long, or the fog obscured it in such a way that the end of it couldn't be seen. He wanted to take the first step, but hesitated given the possible dangers. It seemed... mysterious, dangerously so.

Chloe had a beanie on her head to cover her ears and her tail was tucked up into her shirt as she stood in front of the bridge avoiding everyone else. She swallowed and glanced around nervously as she waited, trembling. She wore simple clothes, light gray T-shirt, jeans and black sneakers.... Though she did have a collar around her neck with a leash hanging from it, the brown leather was torn half way so the leash only thing down to her stomach the rest was gone.

Kenji looked around to the others and let out a 'hmph' before he stepped into the bridge, beginning his journey. Wether there were others or not, he didn't care; he was going to find the end of this place and get his happiness. His Samurai armor made the boards under him creak from the weight, but he was certain they would hold. He kept a hand on the handle of his Katana as he walked, prepared for anything.

What a crowd. Petruchio thought, he didn't expect so many here. Man, people must be really desperate to be here, hell, but it would be fun at last. A small girl was trembling a little ahead, which made him wonder how it would be to be cold, or to be a girl, nah, now it's just plain weird, he has never possessed a female body, it just doesn't feel right. Then the boy looked around and saw a samurai ghost, he can always recognize his kind with just a glance. How bad could it be? Petruchio thought and casually approach the stoic guy with katana.

Chloe saw two start going onto the bridge and she blinked then began following them, seeing that it was OK now. She couldn't smell then and tilted her head slightly, walking up closer to the boy not dressed in armor she took a deep breath in to smell him but found no scent which confused her and she snorted grabbing a hold of the leash in both hands

Solaris sighed softly as he looked at the group heading off onto the bridge already. His only thought was if being in a group like that would help him stand out. Probably not, but if he followed he could possibly help out, and if any of them got big, he could become minorly famous. From there he could probably build up a legacy......he did indeed decide to follow after that, doing his best to look like he's not just following. @Knight Nate

Argus merely looked at the girl sniffing randomly at the group he seemed to be stuck with. It seemed that people had already started walking along the bridge, and Argus decided it would be optimal to follow in their literal footsteps and cross the bridge just to see what was on the other side. This bridge piqued his curiosity, as many things did, and he had gotten pretty determined to find out what was at the end of it. He couldn't be sure if he was dead or not, despite the explosive circumstances under which he died, he should be obliterated. However, he wasn't... he was here, safe, in one piece.

Deciding to break the silence, he said, "So... I'm Argus. Nice to meet you, I guess?".

Chloe flinched and jolted when she heard someone speak. Looking over towards Argus, she blinked and adjusted her hat curiously trying to figure out what he had said. Once she finally noticed that it was his name she smiled a bit and excitedly said " I'm... C-chloe " she spoke slowly

@Sagacity

Kenji said nothing as the others around him began to speak in a strange language. He hadn't heard of it before, and he wasn't planning on learning it right now. It seemed that they were following him, which was very annoying, but he could understand why. People naturally look to the strongest for guidance, and with him probably being the only one with combat experience, and some armor, they would probably stick with him like glue. That, or follow the other man in strange armor. He shook his head, casting away the thoughts, and tried to focus on getting across the bridge and away from the rest of these people.

He turned back to look at Argus, bowing slightly. "I am Sir Solaris." He smiled under his helm, noted the odd girl was Chloe, and it seemed the man in the odd armor was a mute, deaf, or didn't speak English. Any of those were not only possible, but probable, judging by the armor style. At the very least, he didn't recognize it.

"Petruchio!" The pale face ghost boy yelled merrily as others around him start to introduce themselves "Call me Petr, Peter or whatever u like!" he always likes having companions, and while just 2 of them are still alive, in case... well, bad things happen they could make a good host body. A little disappointed as he realized the samurai guy can't understand him, he had been in Japan before on one of his journeys, but not a single Japanese word was learned. "Well be with you guys, gotta be a long way. eh?"

@Knight Nate

Chloe flinched and squeaked hearing someone tell and she pulled her had down tighter to muffle the sound, once she noticed her wasn't telling anymore she looked to Petruchio curiously he had no scent either

"Oops! Sorry, did I scare u?" Petruchio grinned, didn't feel guilty a bit. As for someone who had enough courage to step foot on this scary bridge, she didn't appear as a strong minded one.

@wolfborn4

Chloe blinked and after a moment she nodded slowing down a bit till she walked near Petruchio, looking him over she finally said slowly " you have... No... Smell "

"Uh... Thanks, I guess" Petruchio raised his eyebrow, wondered if that was really a compliment. "Nice hat btw"

Chloe blinked she had no idea what 'btw' meant and she tilted her head then snorted which sounded like a confused dog

Leo made his way outside of the forest and started toward the mysterious oak bridge. "This is the bridge..." He mumbled looking around, remembering the old man that told him about this. The bridge itself didn't look that impressive, but the mass of people, and the shroud of mist added to the aesthetics. Leo adjusted the sword strap resting on his shoulder and moved in behind a group of people introducing themselves. This didn't bother him much, so Leo decided to stand behind he group and wait until they advanced.

A stiff wind blew back some of the fog, revealing that the bridge ended at a small pillar of land in the distance. Beyond that was the beginning of what looked like a rope bridge.

On the way there, though, Kenji (who was in front) spotted a short, impish creature in his path. Ugly as it was, it seemed pitiable, shivering in fright in the center of the bridge. "I can't go any further!" it kept saying.

Chloe smelled the little imp before she saw it aboveboard moved a bit under the hat which she quickly adjusted then darted off to the front to see this new smell. Once she got there and stood next to a guy she looked at the imp with curiosity

Chloe heard the guy behind her and shrugged " I don't know... But it smells weird " she crouched down to look at the creature. Her tail twitched which made it pulled her shirt up slightly but not much of her tail could be seen

Solaris simply walked over for curiosity's sake. Not everyday you're on an odd bridge with somewhat odd people, and what seemed to be something torn out of a myth. "Hmm....reminds me of something out of a tale I've heard a bard tell.....though are imps real?" He said that last part mostly to himself.
