I have copied the coded templates below, but feel free to BBCode however you like. As long as you include the same contents. All praise Fyuri for her beautiful codes!

[div class=header]GUIDELINES[/div]

Characters will be reviewed and approved by the GMs. We will notify you in private DMs. Character sheet queries is a way to learn more about you as a player, as well as for the sake of balancing things where needed. This may be our first impression of you, so please do be considerate and avoid going full "edge" mode.

We would prefer characters with sufficient strengths and flaws that balances each other out. With future character arcs in mind, it is wise to leave room for development.

You may have one main character for now, extra characters may be proposed for NPC and supporting casts, upon approval.

Ritterbruders (sworn-knights) gain access to one Divine Gear with one general ability. You may elaborate as much as your creativity permits, just keep in mind its limits.

[div class=header]REFERENCES[/div]

Check out the Lore for more information.

[div class=header]ARLINGTON CHAPTER[/div]

The Arlington Chapter, one of the few remaining stronghold of the Teutonic Order in the United States, eventually became home to the newly-formed task force, comprising of crusaders from different knighthoods. The Arlington Chapter houses Templars, Hospitallers, Lazarian, Santiago and Teutonic knights.

You will be able to play as a crusader from any of these five Orders. Please refer to lore and elaborate your Divine gears accordingly. (see Lore - Milites Christi)

[div class=header]PLAYABLE ROLES[/div]

Ritterbrüder (Sworn Knights)
A recognized member of the Order’s hierarchy, Ritterbrüders are high-end operators of the knighthood and are diverse in their field of expertise. They are fully-sworn knights that have proven themselves on the field. Knight Brothers are generally more experienced than Half-Brothers, as well as having sworn their oath to the Order and their respective Chapters. Ritterbruders share the equivalent rank of “Knight” or “Paladin” in most of the other knightly orders. Ritterbrüders are powerful hybrids that utilize both their Divine Gears to intercept their foes. While they rely on their Divine Gears to combat their opponents, they lack the ability to carry a multitude of weapons to the field.

Halbbrüder (Initiates)
A subcategory of the admitted ranks of the Order, Halbbrüders are well-trained operators of the knighthood and are generally well-versed with their objectives and extensive training. They are not fully-sworn knights and must prove themselves in the field before being made a full-fledged Ritterbrüder. The term Half-Brothers are coined for those that graduated from the training program, of whom has little experience in the field, but are no less short of their Knight Brothers counterparts. Halbbruders share the equivalent rank of “Initiates” in most of the other knightly orders. Where they do not possess Divine Gears, Halbbruders tend to equip themselves with extra firepower to facilitate their combat performance.

Outremer (Non-Christian Auxiliary)
Reformed Daevans and Aetherians. The term Outre Mers “overseas” is symbolically coined to denote Aetherian’s estranged appearances and practices of non-Christian magic. Usually declared fit for field duty after psychological evaluation and baptism. Outremers are usually seen accompanying fully-sworn knights (Ritterbruders), typically assigned as a battle analyst or given a support role. Despite their conversion to Christianity and their dedication to the cause, Outremers bore the stigma given unto them by their pasts and those that practices pagan magic. Outremers are powerful practitioners of magic and relies on their arcane output, rather than firearms and weaponry. They are able to detect Daevan magic with ease, but is susceptible to being drained of their strength, should they engage in prolonged magical usage.

Bailey LaRue
[div class=fyuriwrapper][div class=flex][div class=left][div class=faceclaim]

[/div][div class=under][div class=header]Bailey LaRue[/div]

Alias(es): Reverend

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Affiliation: Teutonic Order

Role: Arlington Chapter Master

[div class=header]Appearance[/div]
Bailey is an average young adult who usually falls short of the taller ones. Her sultry amaranth eyes gives off an alluring and poised aura - receptive of those that meets her. Her long silver hair retains some black highlights upon her front locks. Bailey has fair pale skin that generally glows pinkish when exposed to direct sunlight. She is usually seen in her white button-down blouse and dress, with her wide-sleeves jacket in tow. Bailey tends to wear her shades and brim hat when outdoors, while fashioning a pair of dark-coyote 5.11 boots.

[div class=header]Quotes[/div]
"Even if I knew that the world would shatter tomorrow, I would still knead my bread wholeheartedly."

[div class=header]Extra[/div]

[/div] [/div]
[div class=textarea][div class=header2]Psych Evaluation

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div] Overview:
Bailey is a relatively modest and generous person of interests. She tends to be uplifting and finds both heart and soul in her field of work. She is usually reserved and well-spoken in her ways, engaging others in a calm, and determined demeanor. While outwardly prim and proper, Bailey can display a certain witty attitude to those she meets.

Where she is receptive of strangers and friends alike, Bailey tries her best to motivate others - by reasons and personal insights. Accompanied by her intrigues to engage herself in community services, Bailey does not stray far from one's perception of Christ's disciple. However, behind her nonchalant smiles and soft voice, there resides a certain reservation of unspoken gloom. At times, she can be seen in her melancholy when alone. While disciplinary when it comes to dire situations, Bailey is generally well-respected for her engaging personality and daily efforts in indulging her brethren with sweets and pastries.

Flaws:
While Bailey is gentle on her comrades, the Chapter Master tends to harbor sentimental thoughts. Where she tries to resolve other's dereliction, the girl could not do the same for her own dilemmas. Bottled sentiments, while very rare to be seen by others, can be quite dangerous when left unattended. Such was the case for the outwardly cheerful Bailey. While she is not exactly a naive creature of ideals, Bailey tend to align her conduct with what she deems is right, malleable in her ways to obtain a pious endeavor. This makes her a complex and erratic creature of habit at times.

Accompanied by her burdens as a Master of the Arlington Chapter, Bailey tends to harbor conflicted feelings, as well as a sense of insecurity. A byproduct of her humble ways, Bailey does not always commit herself entirely in some cases. Self-deprecating thoughts, and her tendency to shoulder extensive responsibilities often times contribute to her withdrawal of sincere thoughts. In addition to her complex habits that grew out of her youthful temperance, Bailey is prone to display extreme emotions when under stress.

A facilitator of benevolence, but a victim of her own self-doubts. A prideful and unpredictable creature at heart.

Fears:
Bailey suffers from acrophobia (fear of heights), and fears loneliness the most. Her usually cheerful attitude is a coping mechanism for her own over-thinking habits. Bailey tends to surround herself with her fellow knights and initiates, in order to avoid solitary situation. Failures and the likes are recognizable concerns that plagues the Master's mind, as well as the inevitable demise of her comrades.

Motivations:
Bailey is a zealous preacher of the Scriptures. Owing her renewed life in the light to her old guardian, Bailey wishes to follow in their footsteps and be a competent member of the Order. While she is not overly-ambitious, Bailey values common responsibilities and prioritizes the means over the ends.

Divine Gear: Wittenberg Theses
Written and discoursed by a Wittenberg professor in 1517, the Wittenberg Theses (also known as the Ninety-Five Theses), is essentially a divinated compile of parchments. These pages act as high-velocity projectiles that is able to burn a target upon impact (incendiary) or simply pierce through-and-through (armor-piercing). The Wittenberg Theses is in essence a divine gear, and performs well against non-Christian magic. Modified airburst or delayed-fuse detonation can prove useful in certain situation for maximum area-of-effect damage - death by a thousand paper cuts. The Wittenberg Theses can also be modified into small pamphlets that is able to track a target upon impact.

Limitations:
- The Wittenberg Theses' abilities are mostly offensive, with little to no defensive capabilities. This makes Bailey heavily reliant on her offensive capabilities and constant movement.
- Extensive barrage can quickly exhaust Bailey. As such, her volleys are generally fired in short, consecutive bursts.
- Another note regarding the tracking pamphlets, is its limited range. Should the target gets out of range, the pamphlet beacon will dissipate.

Skills:
+ Mediator / Competent Orator
+ Theologian Apprentice
+ Mechanical Amateur
+ Arithmetic
+ Multi-linguist
+ Extensive Planner
+ Bakery
+ Social Connections
+ Basic Medical Knowledge
+ Intermediate Pianist
+ Amateur Acoustic Guitarist

Auxiliary Equipment:
+ 14.5" Custom Forged AR-15 (5.56 x 45mm)
+ Leatherman C31
+ Mechanix OG Coyote Gloves
+ Teutonic Quad C
+ IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit)
+ Her Bible

[/div][div class=header2]Background[/div]
[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]
Pre-Induction Background:
Little is known about the Arlington Chapter Master, aside from fleeting rumors of her deeds and dedication to the Order. An orphan, saved by a crusader in the past, of whom would be baptized in the Lord's light and become a Chapter Master, or so the gossips went. Concealing her unspoken pasts with a friendly visage, what is now a reserved, well-spoken preacher of peace, was once a callous delinquent, whose hard fist and sheer determination won her place in the neighborhood - at least for a small while. Having encountered a certain daemon, and her subsequent emancipation by the deeds of a righteous Teutonic crusader, would bring about a turning point in the young Texan's life.

Order Service Background:
After several years of accompanying and training under her savior, Bailey was enlightened by her biblical studies and training, as she gradually dismantled her youthful temperance for a renewed life to serve the Lord. Refining her personality, as well as her renewing her purpose in life as a Teutonic Knight, the young woman would go on to dedicate herself to the crusaders' cause. Shortly after her master's retirement, Bailey was eventually hand-picked by the Grandmaster to head the newly established Arlington Chapter as its Master. Bailey would have to take up the torch and strives to be the next capable master, vowing to do her best and leave behind a better generation.

[div class=header]Appearance[/div]
Literary description of your appearance here

[div class=header]Quotes[/div]
“There are people out there that have never seen me, and may never hear my voice. But they know that I will come to their aid. It is for that reason why I will protect them without fail.”

[div class=header]Extra[/div]

[/div] [/div]
[div class=textarea][div class=header2]Psych Evaluation

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div] Overview: Ventus is a compassionate and excitable individual, always happy to take on duties and tasks assigned to her by her superiors. One of her best qualities is being extremely sociable, very good at getting along with everyone around her and communicating between opposing groups in tense situations. One of her greatest traits is her extreme amount of empathy, able to relate on a personal level with a wide variety of individuals.

Flaws: Ventus harbors a secret hatred for Humans, especially those who are less than subtle about their biases towards Hybrids, bringing up fettered and untamed hatred that lie deep inside her psyche, which can cause her to go into a blind rage and act against her much more compassionate nature. She sees this as a huge problem with herself, often pulling herself out of situations where she has to deal with those kinds of people, even if those people may be within her assigned squadron. This can change her very boisterous and outgoing personality into a quiet, somber one, unwilling to speak or associate with anyone around her. This also leads into an alternate version of her blinded rage state, wherein she has a silent rage that she focuses inward and releases on enemies, becoming much more vicious and brutal despite her more defensive skill set.

Fears: What are you afraid of? What frightens you? Ventus has a slight case of Ombrophobia, able to deal with drizzle and light rain but can become very uncomfortable as well as timid in the presence of heavy rain, reminding the young woman of the horrid sights that she has seen on days of heavy rain. To combat this, she normally covers her ears with slight noise cancelling earpieces which allow her to hear things in close proximity to her but not the sound of the rain as it falls around her, and if it is close it lowers the volume as to not distract her too much.

Motivations: Ventus is a diligent and steadfast protector of the people and her comrades, taking her values from her mentor who had time and time again reminded her of the importance of protecting the people. She hopes to become an important member of the order who will surpass her mentor and all of her other comrades, with ambitions to become the greatest chapter master of the Templars. Ventus dedicates herself to ensure that all of her comrades come back alive from every mission she undertakes

Pre-Induction Background:
Growing up, Ventus had lived together with her rather small family in a quiet modest home. Her parents, both devout followers of faith, were able to make ends meet and support themselves as well as their child, but could never afford many luxuries for them to enjoy. While the young lady may have not had much to her name, her parents had made sure that she was well versed in the word and was grounded in her morals. Despite being a well-behaved child, she was never let out of their home, always asking her parents why and always being given the same answer. She had asked so many questions that after a while they had begun to tell her bedtime stories of the crusaders who would protect them from all kinds of earthly and other worldly threats.

Ventus had grown to idolize and adore the crusaders from those stories, and lived a rather peaceful and sheltered life until she had turned 10. On a uniquely rainy day, where the sound of the weather had battered her ears and the sight of the water bouncing off of the ground and mixing with the blood had left her without a home and without anyone by her side. So she did what she had always been taught to do, find the crusaders. When she happened upon a group of them, rather than welcome her into their arm with prayers and love, her arrival had been met with swords and the end of a barrel directed at her head. She had heard them talk about her horns, demonize her appearance, calling her tens upon hundreds of slurs. Then they had kicked her to the curb and left her to die, only to be found by another crusader, a Templar Sergeant by the name of Galan. He too, shared her unique characteristics, with four horns rather than her single one, and told her of the truth of the milites christi, one that no crusader would tell her.

Order Service Background:
When brought to a safe haven by Galan, he had tried to leave her behind, to move onto other assignments, to take on other tasks and continue on with his duties, but Ventus there at every turn, promising to follow him to the ends of the earth until he had promised to train her. After two long weeks of this, the Sergeant had finally decided that he would take the girl as his apprentice, learning the ways, ideals, and the role of the Knights of Solomon’s Temple. While she had already been a faithful believer in the lord, many of the other trainees and knights hadn’t believed her, mocking her once again for her heritage and that she could not be a true child of God with that devilish appearance. But their words would only serve to fuel the fire of Ventus’ ambitions, forcing her to strive to be better than all of those around her so they would never utter those words ever again. For years she had trained for 17 hours straight, onlys stopping to sleep and eat.

When she turned sixteen, Ventus was finally eligible to become an Initiate and immediately blazed through the process to join Galan in the Knights of Solomon’s Temple and defend the people. For the next six years and even now, she continues to fight for the lord and protect the people just as her parents and Galan had taught her. No one left behind, for everyone is a child of god.

[/div][div class=under][div class=header]Mila Reiss[/div]

Alias(es): Rosenrot

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Affiliation: Knights of St. Lazarus

Role: Centurio

[div class=header]Appearance[/div]
Mila is a young girl of partial Asian heritage, standing at roughly 5'7'' and sporting slightly tanned skin. Her eyes are dark chestnut beneath a curly mane of caramel red-coloured hair. Beneath the comfortable clothing and dark jacket usually seen off-duty, Mila is quite muscular and athletic.

[div class=header]Extra[/div]

[/div] [/div]
[div class=textarea][div class=header2]Psych Evaluation

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div] Overview:
Mila can be quite serious when she's working, but that's mostly because she prefers to be focused and fully attentive to what is going on around her. Although she likes to hear a good joke, Mila rarely delivers any herself. In fact, in most conversations, she'd prefer to listen to everyone before voicing her part. Though she is young and rather inexperienced comparing to peers of her stature, Mila is able to remain calm and think over her actions before delivering them in most situations.

Flaws:
+ Skilled as she is, the Centurio is still a young girl who is prone to break under pressure. Mila is a believer and tries to see goodness in all things, though when that is no longer possible, her response can be expected to be purely based on instincts and self-preservation.
+ Mila often assumes responsibilities towards those she'd formed a bond with. The girl cares for them deeply and would compromise herself for them, which could potentially put her in situations of the aforementioned point.
+ Mila is careful with her choice of words, but the girl is very vocal when it comes to her opinions and will not hold back anything. This more than often challenges her relationships with her peers, and ultimately affects them for better or worse.

Fears:
Mila's reaction to being in pitch darkness can be observed to range from uncomfortable to outright distraught. Her quarters are often well-lit, and the girl generally avoids dark alleyways or streets. Her very Divine Gear reflects this fear of the dark.

Motivations:
For the longest time in her life, the Order was all Mila ever knew. Though no longer an acolyte of the Holy See, the girl is still a staunch believer, both in the Church's teachings and the otherworldly presences that seek to lay ruins to the world as she knows it. Although beneath the surface, perhaps as something of an outlier, Mila's attitude towards the otherworldly 'threats' was never one of contempt, but pure curiosity.
Regardless, the girl sees her peers within the Order and its associates as her extended family, and she would never fail in performing the duties expected of her.

[/div][div class=header2]Abilities & Equipment[/div]
[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]
Divine Gear: Dawnbringer
Passed down to Mila from her predecessor, Mila's Divine Gear comes in the form of a mace with a reinforced lamp where the bludgeoning finial would be, overall resembling a handheld lamp post with intricate runes and scriptures across its form. The lamp has the ability to discharge divine energy in the forms of an aura or a targeted blast to rebel or stun otherworldly entities, namely those of Aetherian or Daemon origins.
When activated in its aura form, the divine energy has the ability to accelerate the healing of mundane injuries and ailments.

Limitations:
- Limited offensive capabilities, as the discharged divine energy can only either stun or repel Aetherians or Daemons.
- Extensive discharges will quickly exhaust Mila, requiring the girl to be strategic with her Divine Gear.
- The mace is not that big, but it's still a mace - chunky and heavy.

Skills:
+ Good cook
+ Decent shot
+ Athletic
+ Observant
+ Multi-linguist
+ First-aids
+ Survival skills

Auxiliary Equipment:
+ Block 2 SOPMOD M4 (5.56 x 45mm)
+ M9 Beretta
+ Stiletto
+ IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit)
+ Her Bible

[/div][div class=header2]Background[/div]
[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]
Pre-Induction Background:
Twenty-four years ago, the Vietnamese-Austrian girl was the sole survivor of a tragic daemon incident in Casablanca, Morocco. Her father was an Austrian physician in Venetia and covertly an esteemed Knight of St. Lazarus, and so the orphan Mila was raised and trained among acolytes of the Order.

Order Service Background:
After several years of biblical studies and training, Mila was deemed to be ready for the practical - the final challenge she had to face before she could ascend into Knighthood. At the age of 16, she was transferred to the Order's 'boot camp' in the Italian Alps. The girl would spend the next 5 years here besting the mountains' trials with flying colours and finally named a Lazarian Knight.
Shortly after the formation of the new Arlington Chapter, Mila was among the handpicked candidates to represent the Order. The girl is overall optimistic about her transfer, and looks to see more of the world in this new assignment.

[div class=textarea][div class=header2]Psych Evaluation

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div] Overview: Bold, brash, and big-mouthed best describe this man. Born of a mediocre family in a quiet town, Darren makes up for his silly name and boring beginnings by starting fights and verbally kicking ass. Fitting into social functions easily, the Warren boy has also learned momentary humility, and as such knows when to shut up, but don’t expect him to stay that way for long. Adept in both starting fights and running away from them, his quick mouth and mediocre wit carry him through most interactions, but improvements definitely can be made.

Flaws: He’s bold, brash, and big-mouthed. ‘Nuff said. Tends to charge headfirst into all kinds of trouble without proper thought, working on a ‘do first, think later’ mindset.

Fears: Warren fears noises in the dark, especially considering his previous experiences with Daevans, and will go to great lengths to sleep in bright places, or bring something that can shine light. Other than that, he fears failure, and tends to volunteer very little unless the task is easy.

Motivations: Killing demons and protecting people. Simple motivations for a simple man, but Darren harbors some personal duty to protect his childhood friend, who is now in charge of the Arlington Chapter. As long as he lives and breathes, he’ll do his best to protect any and all people from the threats that come from the Portals.

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]
Pre-Induction Background:
Born and raised in Texas, Warren Darren was a regular everyday kid up until high school. His weird name attracted no end of bullying, and he had built a reputation of getting into fights since 6th grade. Finishing high school, Darren joined the Marines, only to fail Basic Training and return as a regular civilian. Applying for jobs here and there, he was rudely introduced to Daevans and the Order one night, when his childhood friend Bailey barged into his home seeking shelter from Daevans. Fighting the demons off, Warren was subsequently inducted into the Order.

Order Service Background:
Inducted as an Initiate, Darren has stayed there for a long while, with his mediocre belief and weaponry funding lending to his inability to be ‘promoted’. Remaining in America, Darren served as a passive ‘operative’, collecting rumors and information on any reported or suspected Aetherian/Daevan activity, contributing to a few minor cases here and there. With the creation of the Arlington Chapter, Darren was added due to his proximity and familiarity to the locales.

Alias(es): Ranger

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Affiliation: Knights of St. John

Role: Chapter Commander

[div class=header]Appearance[/div]

Scipius is of short stature, being around 5' 9" or 5' 10". However, what he lacks in height, he makes up in stockiness. His shoulders are broad, due to having drawn near 160 pounds of draw daily for three years. His face is pale, complimented, and contrasted, by a mass of black hair, with piercing amber eyes. Overall, he reflects a sense of resolute melancholy, daring the world to try and break him, despite the horrors he has suffered through. Scipius has a couple of scars on his face; however, the majority of his scars are located on his torso, where he bore the full brunt of many impacts, and his wrists, which is criss-crossed with the scar tissue.

“Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.”-C.S. Lewis

[div class=header]Extra[/div]

[/div] [/div]
[div class=textarea][div class=header2]Psych Evaluation

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div] Overview: Scipius is a quiet soul, one who prefers talking over screaming and shouting; even in the midst of battle, he ensures to make sure each movement is efficient, and chooses not to waste energy and air shouting out senseless prattle to the world who probably doesn’t care anyways. Rather, he focuses his talk to more mundane matters, such as debate, theory, and other things that don’t involve shouting.

If one hasn’t guessed it by now, Scipius is a highly intelligent individual who puts his formidable brainpower to many uses- whether it be to study, memorization, strategizing, arguing, helping others out, and even trying to guess other’s motives- though he can get a bit creative on that last subject. A major reason- or perhaps result- of his intelligence is that he can become focused on a task.

When found in a normal setting, Scipius can be seen either writing a detailed journal and history of what happened, studying books on various topics, or cooking, perfecting this one culinary craft, and attempting to help and encourage others. One interesting thing to note about Varen is that he is oblivious to the advances of girls. Which is rather infuriating to girls that may like him. Another thing he may be found doing is forging. Because, why not? Every man needs a way to vent his anger, and Scipius found his in making things. And he is skilled in blacksmithing- he takes a particular joy in forging swords.

And he needs to have something to vent his anger on. After all, he and his chapter are the unluckiest, disastrous, cursed chapters there are. If something can go wrong around him, in most cases, it will. As a result of this, he has developed a melancholy sort of mindset and demeanor. Yet despite this sadness, there is a resolve about him, a resolve that speaks of holding on to his beliefs and duty.

As another result of this bad luck, he has grown distrustful of other chapters, always seeing something bad that will happen to him and his chapter. And he, as the leader, needs to lead his chapter through the perils and trials their wretched luck puts them through, he is increasing growing agitated that he won’t be able to lead his beloved chapter through these times, and as a result, the stress is getting to him.

Flaws:

Scipius is known to be blunt when addressing others, and that may tread on some toes. He prefers the truth over lies, and although he isn’t afraid of misdirection, he will state to someone if he is dissatisfied with them, unless protocol absolutely mandates it. Another flaw of his is that he tends to obsess over things, unless pulled out of such obsession. This may distort his normal, quietly appreciative attitude into an easily annoyed one. Another Flaw is that he is a self-perfectionist. He sees that he has to do everything right the first time. When he doesn’t, it can motivate him to try harder, but it also tends to draw his focus into that specific task.

Fears: Scipius is afraid of bugs. He finds their crawling, in addition to their near-pervasive ability to swarm, unnerving. Whenever he sees an insect, or heaven forbid, a spider, he will attempt to first ignore the thing nervously, unless the thing bothers him. When the bug does attempt to bother him, it meets a messy end by a slightly panicked reaper. Yes. Scipius hates bugs.

Motivations: To Scipius, he fights so that others may live. It is as simple as that. He values the lives of those not fighting in this secret war of theirs; fighting against the unseen threat of demons may be harsh, but the consequences of not fighting is more dire- a massacre of the very people he swore to protect.

[/div][div class=header2]Abilities & Equipment[/div]

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]

Divine Gear: An old casing that once housed St. Teresa of Avila’s incorrupt hand. It is commonly referred to as Casing Mk II, as it was the second one to house such a hand. It has also been modified to fit the more practical purposes of Scipius’ everyday use of it.

The Casing Mk II has the ability to focus and amplify the user’s Divination, and focus it on a set of preset, specially made weapons. Currently, the Casing is linked to a preset bow, sword, and pair of tanto knives. What this does to such weapons is that it effectively activates such weapons, allowing them to strike with more effectiveness than the average weapon and in the case of the bow must be used in order for the bow to be wielded at all.

Limitations:

Preset weaponry: The gauntlet only works on weapons made specifically to house the energy it distributes. As such, making such weapons is extremely hard, and although the weapons themselves are durable, if they are to break, it would take some time to either fix them, or make new versions of the preset weapons.

Limited Weaponry: The Gauntlet can only reinforce one weapon at a time; it must be held in the gauntlet in order for the weapon to activate. It also takes a moment for one weapon to deactivate, in order to switch to another weapon.

Focus: Wielding the Casing requires focus- it is taking Divination and focusing it to plasma-like proportions. As such, one must focus on keeping their Divination active in order to keep the weapon active. And although the Casing has a failsafe to keep the weapon from deactivating instantly, it will still be enough to weaken the power of the weapon until focus can be achieved again.

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]

Pre-Induction Background:

Scipius was born to Augustus and Evelynn Andrellion; high class American immigrants, his father Italian, his mother English. Yet, fate had a different course for Scipius. A mere two years after he was born, both parents died in a mysterious fire. The only thing reclaimed? A thick, old Bible, containing dual versions of English Standard and King James. Scipius then was passed down to his next of kin- his mother's brother and his wife. Unbeknownst to many, excepting his wife, Scipius' uncle, Damien Tyrannus, was a chapter master of the Iron Tears chapter of the Order of St. John. The Iron Tears chapter, located in the Maltese island of Cominotto, had a reputation of having the worst luck in any chapter of the MIlites Christes. Well deserved, it was, as well. The chapter was small, its numbers decimated during the second World War, when Teutons and Iron Tears met in the field of battle in Italy, subsequently followed by a daemonic cult's attempt to obliterate Cominotto. Damien was in the process of rebuilding the tattered chapter back to its full strength. Now, coupled with the fact that he had an adopted son, in addition to a sickly wife, the strain was definitely getting to him. However, he held fast, and endeavored to raise Scipius like his own son. For the next seven years, Scipius was raised in a loving, if disciplined family life. Memories of his adopted parents stick fast in Scipius' memory when recalling these days. Damien constantly returning home late, battered and bruised, with an exhausted look in his eyes. Yet he still took time to be with Scipius. Ally Tyrannus, teaching Scipius how to cook. Laughing at the two men as they sheepishly cleaned the room that somehow filled with dough.

And then Ally died. November 7. When Scipius was nine years old. It was devastating. To both Damien and Scipius. Damien was in the middle of a shadow campaign against the same daemonic cult that had assaulted Cominotto. Scipius... was the first one to see Ally in her death. To say that changed him would be an understatement. Upon hearing word that his beloved wife was dead, Damien requested permission for leave. It was granted- for two weeks. That was all the time he could be spared. Damien returned home, a broken man.

In those two weeks that Damien was gone, the daemonic cult managed to summon a horde of powerful daevons. After much bloodshed, Damien was called back only a week into his mourning. Scipius was left alone. It was like that for one year.

One year of Damien coming home, tired, defeated, and haunted. Scipius had never seen his uncle this depressed. The days at home were filled with the deafening sounds of quiet. Damien was a father, but a distant one. Then, Samson showed up. Samson immediately caught Scipius' attention, because he was so filled with hope for the future. And in the end, that hope rubbed off on Scipius and Damien. Damien recovered from his despair, and brought Scipius fully into his life; he began training him to be a knight.

Order Service Background:

The shift was a dramatic one, though not a complete change; after all, Scipius was used to discipline. However, Scipius' days were filled with learning how to shoot guns, how to use close quarters weapons, how to analyze situations tactically, how to sneak around, how to do this, how to do that. How to use Divinations. After three years of training, Scipius was finally revealed the truth; he finally entered the Order of Saint John, to officially train as a knight.

It was during this time as an initiate that Scipius began to realize that he preferred a bow over any sort of gun. Guns had recoil, something that displaced aim. Guns were loud, revealing their position to others. Guns could jam, cease to work in crucial times of the fight, if the user's luck was bad enough. And the Iron Tears had plenty of bad luck.

So, he began to work on the bow, on the sword, on knifework. Anything that really didn't rely on gears. Samson began to realize Scipius' growing skill with such weapons, and, being skilled in bows and knives, helped him develop such skill; Samson also pointed Scipius to multiple HEMA trainers, including, surprisingly enough, Damien Tyrannus.

Only a year after he entered the Order, Damien led an assault on that same Daemonic cult. That same daemonic cult that twice devastated the Iron Tears Chapter. This time, Damien intended to end the threat. And end the threat he did- after 15 hours of grueling fighting, the Cominotto chapter finally destroyed this menace once and for all. The cost? Many knights' deaths, including that of Chapter Master Damien Tyrannus.

With yet another of Scipius' parents figures dead, Samson took on the role of Scipius' guardian, in addition to chapter master of the Iron Tears Chapter. And so Scipius' life began a daily routine of practice, training, and reflection, as he learned not only the arts of bow and sword, but of knife, gun, and Divination. The Iron Tears Chapter was a chapter of the Order of St. John- they were well versed in many things. Four more years passed of such training.

Finally, Scipius was deemed ready to be a knight. After receiving his knighthood, Apostle Scipius joined the squad in his first mission. And saw firsthand the nightmare the Iron Tears were put daily through. His first mission? To most others, it would be considered a disaster. After all, how else would you consider a simple hunt for two rogue Daemons to turn into a full fledged firefight between a coven of corrupted witches and a small army of summoned mid-tier- even a couple high-tier- Daemons? To the Iron Tears? Something to suffer through. Thus began his career as an Apostle of the unluckiest chapter in the world.

Scipius participated in many noteworthy events: The purging of Diyu, the Destruction of Ishtar, the Hunt for Elizabeth Bathory, the Siege of Rome, the Stonehenge Incident, and many more. Each one, no matter how small the role the Iron Tears played in such a conflict, turned into a massive disaster. In each one, the Iron Tears fought with such ferocity and tenacity, that they managed to drive off overwhelming forces, and save civilians from being killed or sacrificed to some dark power. In each one, Scipius managed to pull battered groups together to fight for a cause greater than them: the protection of humanity.

Five years of such a life. Then, in an incursion into the Greek lands to hunt rumors of Chimeras, savage fighting broke out. The Iron Tears managed to push back the forces, despite insurmountable odds, as always, but also incurred another given: heavy losses, including that of Chapter Master Samson Hightower. Reeling from the loss, Scipius was stunned to find out he was picked by the Grandmaster of the Order to lead the Cominotto chapter. Perhaps, if he was less shocked, he could have seen what would have happened next.

For nearly six months, Scipius struggled to learn the ropes of how to lead a chapter, how to handle the paperwork, how to bring forces together, how to recruit, how to maintain secrecy. Just when Scipius thought he was getting the hang of it, his luck reared its head again.

This time, it was the last traces of Damien Tyrannus’ old enemies. They left residual energy that only then burst open in a blinding flash, leading to one of the most savage fighting the Iron Tears chapter had ever participated in. The battleground? The Iron Tears headquarters.

After sustaining horrific losses, the chapter finally received aid from fellow Hospitallers. While outside, the walls looked serene and perfect, inside, it was a bloodbath. It was a nightmare. Many other Hospitallers remarked that it was a miracle that the Iron Tears managed to survive this assault for this long. Yet they did. But their place of respite was in ruins. So, with nowhere else to go, with no other Hospitaller willing to accept the remnants of the Iron Tears, the Grandmaster of the Order of St. John moved the forlorn, beaten chapter to Arlington Chapter for a new start, it was hoped. Scipius would be an advisor to the newly made Chapter Master of Arlington, due to his scant nine months more experience than whoever was in charge.

And so Scipius leads a battered group towards their endless crusade to absorb the horrors of others. To defend the innocent from evils that may plague them; to stand strong, no matter the odds.

alias(es) | kobito (meaning dwarf), snow white

age | mental: one hundred twenty-seven. physical: sixteen (supposedly twenty-seven).

gender | female

race | aetherian

affiliation | knights of st. john (hospitaller)

role | outremer, fully-sworn knight (apostle)

[div class=header]Appearance[/div]
sorcha, in her physical human form, is a charming irish and japanese mix. she is incredibly petite - standing in at around 5'1, with a slender, lithe frame and build to match. due to this shortness and her youthful looks, she is often mistaken for a teenager of 16, instead of her supposed age of twenty-seven. her eyes, are an outlandish, piercing, pale grey with hints of blue. also living up to her alias snow white, sorcha's hair is as dark as ebony and wispy and light like mist, paired with skin as light as snow and her lips as red as roses.
her aetherian form is roughly the same; her skin is pale as milk, her hair dark as night, and her lips as crimson as blood. however, her height jumps from 5'1 to 5'9, and grey-toned horns curl around the crown of her head gently. her eyes change from soft, pale grey to a soft, pale gold with brown undertones.

Overview.

to many, sorcha can only be described as a mystery. and many have the right to assume so; sorcha rarely lets bits of her past escape the perimeters of her mind. she's intensely secretive and keeps to herself, which results in her acting rather aloof and glacial at times. sorcha is also a solitary creature, often spending whatever free time she chalks up within the confines of her imagination and has a habit of listlessly wandering off in her head, day-dreaming a vivid inner life when reality proves either too little or too much. sorcha is no fool either; she has proven herself to be oddly sharp-eyed and diligent, able to discern and distinguish details that most would ordinarily miss. sorcha also appears to be rather stoic to most, possessing a rather mature, melancholic air that seems to startle many at first glance. however, thankfully it's not all glaciality and gloom when it comes to sorcha; deep down, the girl does have a deep appreciation and a warm heart towards humanity and will not falter to lend a helping hand. she carries within her a small, mischievous spark that dares to break the ice and create playful chaos, bringing out a smiling, warm-hearted sorcha that many, including herself in the past, thought was lost to the sands of time and tragedy.

Flaws | sorcha has struggled with PTSD and severe depression in the past due to what she calls 'the infandam' (the unspeakable, in latin). since then, with time and caution, sorcha managed to slowly piece herself back together and has come a long way. however, especially in times of great stress and pressure, sorcha's past demons rise up to the surface in the form of nightmares and anxiety. though these aren't a direct consequence of sorcha's personality per se, sorcha still views these as negatives and weaknesses.
despite the immense progress she's made since the infandam, sorcha still struggles immensely with being able to trust others and express her emotions. due to the harsh discrimination she also had to face during her early years as an Outremer Initiate in the knights of st john's, sorcha has had her heart hardened quite a bit as well, making her rather bitter and resentful at times.

Fears | the feeling of feeling exposed, vulnerable and defenseless is one that sorcha will do to avoid at nearly any cost. of course, thanks to the spiritual healing and the physical training she received as a member in the knights of st. john's, this fear is nowhere near as potent as it was in the past. however, despite her repeated remarkable shows in courage and efforts in hiding it, sorcha is still in an ongoing struggle to win against this fear.
another phobia that sorcha is still dealing with is androphobia; the unusual and persistent fear of males. this fear is thankfully only a hollowed, haunted version of itself, and so it has lost most of it's hold on sorcha. however, sorcha still experiences some level of unease and apprehension when in close quarters with men, so she puts on a 'tough' act in order to not show weakness.

Motivations | most of what drives sorcha in her service is the newfound sense of duty she had discovered and what feels she owes as a knight of st. john's and all the righteous principles it upholds. her personal inspiration, however, comes from the man who had adopted her as his own, despite her past, despite the stigma and despite his standing as one of st. john's most respected Maltese Wardens. this man had built her back piece by piece, risked and sacrificed everything for her, and in return, she is determined to make her pay back in full as a dedicated soldier fighting for the vision and values that he had fought so hard to protect and uphold.

[/div][div class=header2]Abilities & Equipment[/div]
[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]
Primary Ability | magic weaponry : user is able to create various forms of enchanted weaponry to suit their needs on the field of battle. however, due to the limited amount of mana on Earth, sorcha is only able to create and employ very small-scale but efficient weapons; her primary being the shuriken and her secondary being knives.

due to their relatively small size, sorcha is skillfully able to create and employ four to five shurikens at a time (two to three if they are knives). these magic shurikens/knives are able to slice through flesh and bone like jelly, and due to sorcha being an aetherian, she is able to throw them at a speed two times faster than the average speed thrown by a regular human.

Secondary Ability |

Limitations.
Name and elaborate three distinct weaknesses of your ability.

one | due to the limited amount of mana on Earth, sorcha is only able to create small-scale weapons that are usually only on the offensive side. however, depending on the amount of mana around and her own supply of stamina, sorcha can create small magical shields that are no longer than about half the size of your average sword as a defensive tactic, but they don't last too long (two to five minutes at best) and consume a considerable amount of mana.

two | this ability serves as a perfect long range combat method where it does the most damage and employs the best amount of efficiency. when it comes to close combat however, things get trickier. sorcha is petite, even in aetherian form, so this ability becomes drastically less useful and efficient when the fight draws too near. sorcha will have to depend on her physical hand-to-hand combat techniques and her superhuman speed despite her small size and frame.

three | aim. the rates of success and efficiency depend largely on how accurate and precise the user's aim is. even though sorcha's aim is arguably the best in the knights of st. john, there is always that uncertain factor called chance, where her ability is only as good as her aim is. this limitation rears it's ugly head best when sorcha, at any point, loses her focus/can't focus due to injury, undue stress, etc; and misses the target.

Skills | sorcha is very adept in various fighting styles that she had learned while in-training; jujitsu, kung fu, and kick boxing. she also loves to crochet in her spare time!

Auxiliary Equipment | n/a.

Alias(es): Cyclops

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Affiliation: Teutonic Order

Role: Knight

[div class=header]Appearance[/div]
Clayton is a towering presence, standing six feet and seven inches tall. A specialist in close quarters combat, his muscular frame has been enhanced from years of extensive steroid usage, which started during his time as a wrestler. He maintains around 5-10% body fat depending on where he is in his workout cycle, but rarely takes off his clothes to show off. The reasons for this become obvious when he does - the left side of his chest is burned, and a large scar runs diagonally from that side of his body through his abs.

A large scar runs across his left cheekbone from the "Barclay's Incident", which he is keen never to talk about. On closer inspection, one can also see that Clayton's left eye moves out out of alignment with his right, and most of the time it doesn't move at all.

[div class=textarea][div class=header2]Psych Evaluation

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div] Overview: Those who have been in the order longer than three years will remember the old Clayton - a naive, sheltered, and earnest team player who was always putting himself on the line for others, no matter how badly they treated him, and who was always trying to see the bright side of everything. There was no sugarcoating it: he was a ditz, always the victim of everyone's pranks, and falling for them every time. Some of the chapter loved him in an endearing way, others exploited him for a laugh whenever they could. With nothing else to compare it to, Clayton quickly accepted his role as the butt monkey of his initiate class, mistaking it as a sign of friendship. His fellow initiates made sure to point out his stupidity at every turn, so Clayton clammed up whenever he had to do any thinking for his squad, and quickly developed an inferiority complex.

After the Barclays' Incident and his implantation with God's eye, his personality changed. Over six months, Clayton became unnaturally decisive, austere, and most surprisingly, belligerent. With the collective experiences of all the previous users of the eye, his consciousness was still his own, but his intuition was not. When it came to gut feelings, split second reactions, and instincts, it was almost as if someone else was guiding the decision for him. He soon became intoxicated on his new power, which partially corrected his intellectual limitations - the central flaw of his personality since joining the order. While once the victim of the same, he now relishes in the chance to point out others' stupidity and criticize their work, while insisting that others follow his plans in battle.

Because of his eye, Clayton often doesn't know where he's going before he jumps, trusting his gut instinct. This leads him to often go off in a direction without knowing how the plan ends, or to demand that others follow his plan without telling them what it is - because he himself doesn't know.

This creates a dichotomy in Clayton's personality, where he still holds many of his old convictions - a love of the order, caring for his brothers in arms, a hatred of the daemons - but feels driven by an external force towards a direction that often contradicts them. Knowing that he's a bit of an asshole when he has his all-seeing eye in place, Clayton often takes it out, and then battles with himself as to when or if to put it back in, almost like it's a drug. When his eye is out, Clayton is often back to his old self, but retains the heretical opinions which have now been burned into his consciousness by his research.

Flaws: Despite vastly improved intuition from the All-Seeing Eye, Clayton still isn't that book smart and often can't articulate or understand his ideas if they require any complicated concepts. This leaves him in a situation where he knows exactly where to go, what to do, and what to say, but has no idea why. Worse, Clayton's eye has driven him to make psychopathic decisions destructive to the chapter, like sacrificing his partner to bait out a daemon, then lying about it.

Fears: Having tasted the respect and admiration of the order, Clayton now knows how degrading his first year was. He fears is being made into the chapter's whipping boy again, which is a central motivation in keeping his eye in place. Clayton was indoctrinated from a young age to be willing to sacrifice himself to protect his brothers in arms, so he has a blatant disregard for his own safety (which has only increased ever since installing the all-seeing eye), but constantly worries about the wellbeing of others in the chapter.

His single biggest fear, however, is of Anderson Lau and the demon Egin - the beings who killed his uncle and left him permanently scarred. Each time Clayton sleeps without his eye, he relives the Barclays' Incident. Though he should be personally committed to the search for Lau, who has fled overseas with hundreds of millions in Church money, Clayton can't even bear to look at his face without his eye, and, when his eye is in, he feels "pushed" towards a million other tasks.

Motivations: Clayton has long come to terms with the fact that his intelligence is below average at best, and he will never understand what drives him, relegating himself to accept his gut instinct in all cases. Besides a cursory (and likely wrong) understanding of Gnosticism, and the simplistic slogans his father told him about the Order, he has no conscious basis for his strong feelings against God and for the Teutonic Order. When his eye is in, it drives him to seek out missions, often four or five at a time, in order to get out of the chapter, then plans diversions for him to find books on the arcane, the occult, and Christian heresies to deepen his (and its own) understanding of the case against God. Clayton shows no signs of wanting to advance further through the order's ranks, and remains fanatically loyal to the chapter master.

So far, Clayton's justification for his belief that God is evil and the enemy of the Order is rooted in the order's constant fight against supernatural beings, with no supernatural allies of its own. Clayton believes the Gnostic theory that the Old Testament God is evil to be true, as well as their theory that one can unlock potential within through occult practices and intuition to overcome the cruelty of the evil God's world. He similarly believes that the Church is secretly controlled by the evil God, who is playing a cosmic joke on him and his brothers in arms in constantly sending them into the arms of demons to be hacked to bits.

[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]
Divine Gear: The All-Seeing Eye: A glass eye which has been in the order for a long time, and which aggregates the experiences of those who wear it. Its effects and origin are not fully understood, but it is believed by the Santiago Knights to have come into the Church's possession during the Albigensian Crusade. The Eye channels the collective memories of all who wear it into the present user's subconscious, influencing their intuition, and making it much sharper and more perceptive. The user is blessed with rapid reflexes, improved dexterity, clarity of purpose and action, and the feeling of constant "eureka", as if he or she is being driven in a direction by destiny itself. In order to be used properly, one must trust his or her instincts and let them take the wheel, otherwise a person will still fall victim to analysis by paralysis. This isn't a problem for Clayton, who never had any faith in his ability to analyze his way out of a situation to begin with.

Since it collects the experiences of its users, the All-Seeing Eye gives the user an instinctive understanding of any task he or she sets his mind to - as long as a previous user did it. This means it can make a person an expert in horseback riding or dart throwing, but not in something more recent like gunmanship or bomb making, as those skills are too new for a past user to have done them.

Limitations:

The user can't use ranged weapons at all. The All-Seeing Eye seems to have a perceptive sight of its own, but apparently not in the visual sense. Clayton has no depth perception, and as a result can't aim any ranged weapon. Additionally, the user has no peripheral vision on the left side.

The biggest drawback of all is that the eye is only an asset if you trust it - anyone who resists their instincts when using the eye is basically in the same place as before, just more confused. The device is unknown, and its "will" is yet to be seen. The eye seems only to interact with a person's "animal brain", greatly influencing reflexes and intuition, but not making the memories that built those reflexes known to the current user. In other words, the user has no idea whose reflexes they're imitating, and whether the end goal is something he'd personally consider good.

Finally, the All-Seeing Eye is incapable of helping the user understand any skill that is relatively recent - anything to do with technology, firearms, and so on.

Skills: Before getting his implant, Clayton was already one of the deadliest close quarters fighters in the Church's service. He is very physically strong and has high endurance.

Auxiliary Equipment:
+ Silver shortsword
+ 2 Combat knives

[/div][div class=header2]Background[/div]
[div class=txtbox][div class=dot][/div]
Pre-Induction Background:
Clayton was born into a family with a long history of service to the Church. He was a distant relative of Ulrich von Jungingen, the Hochmeister who presided over the Teutonic Order's disastrous defeat at Grunwald. Despite this, the family continued to supply the order with recruits, usually among second sons who couldn't inherit property. Members of the family moved to America in 1848 to avoid the German revolution, and US immigration authorities forced them to abandon the "von" in their names.

Clayton was the son of Adam Jungingen, a firstborn son, and therefore the designated heir of the family property, who could not be a member of the order. Despite this, he and his nuclear family lived and breathed the order and its mission, as Adam sought to mold his second and third sons into model knights. Clayton's childhood was sheltered - he was forbidden from interacting with girls, protestants, and anti-Christian movies, and was homeschooled from the start. Adam encouraged all his sons to take up sports, but only violent ones like wrestling, boxing, and taekwondo, to prepare them for life in the order.

When Clayton was 18, he qualified for the US Olympic Team, and won silver in freestyle wrestling. However, instead of being a crowning accomplishment, this experience ended up being Clayton's greatest shame. Intoxicated from the freedom of being away from his oppressive home, he slept with a male member of the British track team. Begging God for forgiveness, he promised his life in service to God to atone for his sin. When he returned home, Clayton pleaded with his father to petition his uncles to let him into the order. Adam Jungingen knew his son had barely had an education and wasn't ready, but reluctantly agreed.

Order Service Background:
Clayton's arrival at the local Teutonic Knights chapter was his first long-term foray outside his family's house. He was eager for the approval of his fellow initiates, but would get the exact opposite. Clayton had no formal education to speak of, and was never that bright. His sheltered upbringing made him naive, good natured to a fault, and oblivious to most people's sense of humor. His fellow initiates quickly made Clayton the butt of every joke and the victim of every prank. Without any other social experience to compare it with, Clayton accepted his role as the group's whipping boy. Ultimately, his "friends" were still inviting him to do things, even if it meant tying him up when he fell asleep, and were still eating with him, even if it meant putting worms in his food, so Clayton felt more included than he'd ever been in his lonely life. The power trip that the initiates got from tormenting a giant boy and a descendant of one of the Order's main families ensured that every day was a humiliation which Clayton would misinterpret as a sign of friendship.

In all other areas, things were going well, owing to Clayton's impressive athleticism and close combat abilities. He was helped by the arrival of his uncle, Ordenmarschall Raymond, who noticed his good results and knighted him at the end of the year. This still didn't improve Clayton's respect among the initiates, who laughed about being able to tie a knight to his bed and get away with it. Convinced that only a grand accomplishment would make his nephew a respected man in the organization, Raymond resolved to take Clayton on a dangerous mission that would go down in order history if it were successful.

The target was Egin, an extremely powerful Daemon, had possessed an unknown senior executive at Barclays' Bank, whose brokers handled large amounts of Templar assets. Through infiltration, the Church had discovered the identity of the possessed executive Anderson K. Lau, a man who had been promoted with unusual speed due to the mysterious deaths of the executives above him. Lau was fond of all nighters, so Raymond hatched a plan. He, Clayton, and a squad of Templars would confront Lau and knock him unconscious, then exorcise his body to kill the powerful Daemon lord without a fight. When it came time to execute this plan, however, the group was surprised to find that the executive submitted to exorcism without a fight.

It soon became clear why. The exorcism had no effect, and Clayton heard screams behind him. Turning, he witnessed two of his comrades torn apart by a towering daemon, who incinerated another. Lau wasn't possessed - he was willingly working with the daemon to advance his own career. Clayton charged at the daemon, intending to strike it down, but was completely outmatched, losing his left eye and being burned and stabbed in his torso. His uncle attempted to attack Egin at the same time, but was shot from behind by Lau. Of his squad, Clayton was the only one who escaped, jumping down several flights of stairs and breaking both legs.

Recovering from his wounds, Clayton first turned to God, crying and asking why he had been forsaken. But then, he was visited by a German chapter master who claimed to be related to him, and who gave him his divine relic - a blessed glass eye. The effects of the eye weren't fully understood, but it was known to increase the reflexes and perceptiveness of he who wore it. The Santiago Knights believed that it did this by channeling the experiences of all prior users into the present user, creating an improved stream of intuition. It also had drawbacks to decision making capabilities - according to legend, Clayton's ancestor, Hochmeister Ulrich, wore it during the catastrophe at Grunwald.

Once the eye was in place, all became clear to Clayton. Confined to bed for weeks, he routed his computer through a proxy and began a furious search through the internet on heresies, a hunch driving him in their direction. Finally, after discovering the gospels of the Gnostic heretics, all was clear. The knights fought with swords and guns, against daemons and spirits, not for God, but against him. Never once did God or his angels show up on the knights' side - nay, they showed up against them, for the angels were actually the daemons. The old testament God, he who the Gnostics called Yaldaboath or the Demiurge, was simply first among Daemons, an enemy to all living things who only liked to see them suffer. God, the Bible - these were all lies. Clayton and his brothers and sisters in the order were the ultimate victims - fools in Yaldaboath's cosmic prank. Willing sheep being led to the slaughter, to be mangled and slaughtered by beings whose power greatly exceeded their own, all in the name of a Church who served only Yaldaboath. Clayton vowed on his hospital bed to discover the truth of the supernatural, save his brothers, and bring down the Church.

After leaving treatment, Clayton attacked his work with a newfound ferocity, still hating daemons and loving his brothers, but his personality changed over the next six months. Clayton was intoxicated with his newfound sharpness and intuition, albeit one he couldn't understand. Everything seemed to work out for him in the end, if only he trusted his gut. He didn't need to understand anything, or know anything. The chapter looked at him with a newfound admiration of his sharpness and his abilities. They theorized that he must have hit his head and become a completely different person.

At times, however, the Eye drove him to make split second calls that revolted against the very nature of his being. He became belligerent and nasty towards his peers, even people who had treated him well. Worse, on one mission to the Natural History Museum, Clayton, in a split second decision, told his partner to wait in the lobby, using her as bait to draw out a daemon who he then killed from behind. When he returned to the chapter, "he" told the chapter master that she had died fighting alongside him. This has led Clayton to try to "quit" using the eye a number of times like an addict tries to quit drugs. Each time, he failed, since he either needed it or wanted the feeling of omnipotence it gave him.
