Max looks at him startled by how casually he said that "and you're ok with that? Just taking someone's life?"

"I often find myself in kill-or-be-killed situations. I've become numb. Do you feel regret after killing a cockroach?"

 

[Phil]

Max shakes her head "no, I can't say that I have. But that isn't the same thing"

 

[BELL]

"It isn't? Humans and cockroaches are both living things. They both die, whether from natural causes or another ending their life quicker. How is it different to kill a human?"

 

[Phil]

"But cockroaches are just diseases. Humans have families and jobs and... " She sighs having trouble with words at the moment "It's morally wrong, how can you not feel it?"

 

[BELL]

"Some view humans as a disease. Ants have jobs, they are a family under the queen. Yet people kill them." He finds some beef jerky and puts it in his coat. "I don't view the ones I kill as less than human, I acknowledge their humanity. But I kill them to preserve myself. I've been trusted with the safety of you all, and I don't care about how many of the guards I have to kill before we get out."

Max tugs at her sleeve looking at the guard "it just seems so heartless, like we aren't any better than them if we are willing to do that. I mean we don't even know if they are here willingly. They could have their own story about how Max and Ian made them guard us."

Anne was following slightly behind the others, a knife in her hand. She wanted to make sure that no guards tried to attack from behind, and so she periodically looked behind her, and at other times relied solely on her hearing.

(Jethro broke them out and they are trying to escape to the roof together while he goes to do something.)


Lilith started to walk forward,"We don't have time to just sit here and talk. The more time we waste, the more they have time to prepare. It doesn't take a genius to figure out where we are headed," she said. She peaked around corners as she walked ahead. There had to be more guards than this, maybe an ambush. She kept the thought in mind as she walked, wondering what Jethro was up to now.

Sage nodded at Lilith when he saw a guard passing by instantly he tackled the man and knocked him out. " Its funny how the bad guys always hire stupid underlings. " Sage whispered as he grabbed the downed guards gun and threw a knife at Lilith. " Use well girly. " He said to her.

Lilith stuck her tongue out at him,"I am not girly," she said spinning the knife in her hand. It would be useful, though she preferred to use her fists.

Sage rolled his eyes but smiled non the less. " What should we do , I'm so tempt to shoot the shot out of the guards but they out number us so yeah. " he said to Lilith.

Jethro opened the door he had entered, having completed the task that he had set himself upon. Now, he just needed to find the others. It was no long walking down the hallway that he came to a guard. Funnily enough, this guard was the exact guard that had used his boot to put Jethro's face to the floor. The man seemed to freeze for a second, seeing Jethro.


"Oh I have been looking for you." Jethro said.


The man didn't answer, he merely drew his weapon but Jethro was faster. Jethro slammed into the man's stomach with his knee. The man opened his mouth in a soundless scream. From there, Jethro grabbed the man and slammed him into a wall. The man fell to the ground. Jethro looked at the man and said,


"I told you I was going to bring you down."


The man stammered in reply,


"N.no...you said you were going to...k.kick me in the face."


"Are you calling me a liar?" Jethro asked before kicking the man across the face.

Gale passes one guard's bulletproof vest to Lilith. "The other one's free for whoever."

Sage turned to Max and handed him the other bulletproof vest. @Phil

Lilith frowned,"I don't need this. You should wear it. They are not as likely to shoot me," she said passing the vest back. If anything they would aim for people holding guns and the ones that looked stronger. Lilith was a type that looked small and weak but was actually strong when underestimated.

Nathan moved up to the front, hearing footsteps, he raised his hand for them to stop, then, waiting with his gun out, he sprung and put a bullet into an incoming guard, however, upon doing this, his gun jammed and he threw it down. Picking up the guard's knife and vest, which he quickly donned, he turned to Gale.


"What's our plan? Jethro's is full of bull. We're going to be walking head on into an ambush! It'll be suicide! If we live, we will just FIND a helicopter sitting there that we will know how to fly! I wouldn't be personally surprised if Jethro is working for Ian as an agent, trying to get our hopes up of escape only to ambush and recapture us as a movement of torture."

 

[FictionalReality]

Anne watched the power struggle, still listening for any guards. She agreed that this plan was a bit unconventional, but it was the best plan they had at the moment. She could fly a helicopter basically, though it couldn’t be expected that she could do any flips or complicated moves. Honestly she felt that Ian was planning something, considering the lack of guards, who were so numerous in the school.

Max put on the vest that was handed to her feeling a little clumsy. She gave Sage a small smile and thanked him for the vest.

 

[BELL]

Gale gives the vest back to Lilith. "Trust me. I'll be better off without this."

Lilith looked at Nathan,"Shut up. He's not working for him that's not possible. Why are you so reluctant to try to escape? Are you afraid or maybe you're working with them to get us back in a cell?" She smirked when she said this. She did not like how much he complained and challenged everyone. It made tensions high in the group at times.

 

[BELL]

Gale gives the vest to Lilith and turns to face Nathan. "We go to the roof. If you don't want to follow the plan, take a knife and leave."
