Your Ghost Host from the West Coast
I was actually planning on a non orphan student lol. The only issue is, I have two Quirk Concepts I'm debating between: A portal user who creates Gates between places he's been/can see and his Room (pocket dimension, basically), and a Vampiric themed character with a blood bending Quirk.
Any thoughts on which would be a better fit?

Both would be incredible actually, and no one has a quirk like either one... honestly the vampire one would be fun to see interact with the other characters, but I like both quirks!

Bio: Although her quirk would have been useful as a Hero, Carmen had other dreams. She worked tirelessly and established herself as a world class dancer. Once Dante was born, she retired from Competition and instead teaches. Her seminars are highly sought after, and her expertise has been requested on more than one occasion for movies. Although her success stands in stark contrast to her husband, she remains one of his strongest supporters.

Personality: They say you never get a second chance at a first impression. Unfortunately for Dante, his first impressions usually aren't the best. His complexion and posture generally gives off a holier-than-thou vibe, but that couldn't be further from his personality.
Dante is an incorrigible goofball, much like his father. He's constantly making jokes, trying to get people to laugh, or just starting general shenanigans. He uses his appearance(and the posture he got from dancing lessons from his mom), to throw people off, just because it makes the reactions even better!
History: Thanks to his parents' career choices, Dante was exposed to music, travel, and other cultures from a young age, developing a fondness for all three.
In school, Dante was one of the first in his class to develop a quirk. Unfortunately, the rather gorey nature of his quirk led to him getting unwanted attention. In Heroes vs Villains, which was basically cops and robbers, he was always singled out to be the villain.
Well, the game escalated day by day until it was more like a game of beat the crap out of the villain. Despite complaints from Carmen, school officials waved it off as kids being kids, especially since Dante was never caught or injured. By necessity, Dante developed the ability to sling himself around by blood ropes and evade capture.
The escalation, however, still continued as other students got their more hero-like quirks. It came to a head when one finally managed to catch Dante. Rather than let himself get pummeled, he fought back and ended up putting several of his pursuers in the hospital.
Initially, school officials had wanted to go after Dante, but Carmen brought forth the numerous complaints she had raised to deter it. In the aftermath, several officials were fired, and Dante ended up changing schools.
Despite the bullying, Dante managed to adjust well to his new surroundings and thrived, thanks in no small part to his loving parents. He made many friends, and was at the top of his graduating class, earning him a recommendation for Sakura High. At this point, the incident in his childhood seems like little more than a distant memory he prefers to forget.
Quirk: Vampire
Quirk explanation: Sharp fangs, white hair, and a pale complexion stand as the primary physical features of his quirk. He is able to manipulate his blood at will, provided it's out of his body. He often uses blood weapons and constructs to fight or maneuver. Of course this also means his own quirk can leave him unconscious or worse due to blood loss, even if his body produces more than usual. Like his father, he has something of a healing factor, but it's only triggered by absorbing/drinking blood, and isn't nearly as fast or effective. (His father once had a pyrotechnics on stage that created a massive fireball and was completely healed before they started the next song. His clothes, on the other hand, had to be replaced. Reviews of that show called it "The most Lit show of the year".)
To use his quirk, he wears rings on each thumb with hidden blades to slice his palms, forearms, or wherever else it's needed.
When he absorbs blood other than his own, it is immediately altered to match his own. Conveniently, this prevents him from contracting blood borne diseases/poisons through his quirk.
Relationships: Dante has a very good relationship with his parents. They taught him music and dance from a young age, teaching him several styles of dance plus a few instruments.
In terms of other students, well, that remains to be seen.

Kana has always seen her power as a mockery of her life circumstances, since her medical based quirk manifested shortly after her mothers passing and she wasn't old enough to save her father. Kana has vowed never to lose a patient, as an inspiring medicine based hero its a hopeful goal to have but one she is determined to see through. To reach this goal Kanna tested her quirk on animals like any good doctor would before applying it to humans.

History: She comes from a family where she often get angry at her parents. She was adopted as a young child to a gay couple who had just gotten married. She was only six then but watched through the crack of her door as her parents fought.

Making facial movement other than a frown is rather difficult her, and because of this people often think of her as a gloomy introvert. However, she is not introverted nor is a she shy as Harue is willing to entertain most conversations no matter how dull or flamboyant the they may be. She can be rather blunt in phrasing her opinion which is either a blessing or a curse, she hasn't decided yet. Words do not come to her easily, so the ones that do often be the ones that tend to leave her mouth first. Harue is just your average emotionless teen with airhead like tendencies. Overall a chill student.

She was raised by both of parents, she received her quirk around the age of 3, and she continued to live with her parents until they divorced when she was eight. The court decided to give both parents joint custody, but ruled in favor of Harue living with her mother. Thus, she lived with her mother, who she takes after as the two aren't really the expressive type despite their underlying personality. There was nothing really bad or sad about her life as the divorce didn't really affect her that much seeing as she did get to see her father twice a month on the weekends. Everything was fine until she could no longer visit her father due to his arrest for using his quirk without a license in public. The incident never appeared on the news and her mother remained silent on the matter. It was rather odd to see how under wraps it had been, but she never pushed for further information about it since her mother refrained from mentioning it. However it was around this time that she grew interest in becoming a hero. Many of her friends and peers told her how useful her quirk would be in the hero profession and having no other aspirations she thought it wouldn't hurt to at least apply for one of the many hero academies. One thing led to another, and now she is training to become a pro hero.

Sponge body is a transformation quirk that allows the user absorb moisture from the air into their body by opening the pores in their skin and effectively turning themselves into something similar to a sponge. One thing to note is that the user's body does not expand and so there is not change to their physical appearance outside of slight muscle enlargement. Once absorbed into the skin, the user gains increased physical strength and speed. The moisture cannot be maintained for long however, and will need to be dispelled from the users body as to not hurt themselves. In this case, the water or steam (if heated) can be highly pressured and shot through large pores in the hands and feet. It can also be released through the pores on her skin, giving the appearance of sweat.
weaknesses « ... The quirk is worthless in places of extreme heat or areas that have very little moisture. One cannot absorb what isn't there. If there is an increased heat while water is absorbed, the water will evaporate and seep out through her pores. The gradual loss of water diminished her strength and speed output until it eventually fades away. Sponge body has a 15 minute time limit before the water needs to be expelled from the body. If this quirk is used longer than the limit allows it can cause water intoxication which could lead to something fatal. The larger the amount of water the user absorbs the shorter the time limit. The average amount of water absorbed in a single use is around half a gallon which has the original limit of 15 mins.
Once expelled from the body, the user is capable of using Sponge Body again, but continuous use places great strain on the muscles without the proper training. Along with that, the continued absorption and expulsion can cause them to lose incredible amounts of liquid as the water in their blood may be shot out along with the water they'd taken in. The moisture cannot be maintained for long however, and will need to be dispelled from the users body as to not hurt themselves. In this case, the water or steam (if heated) can be highly pressured and shot through large pores in the hands and feet. It can also be released through the pores on her skin, giving the appearance of sweat.

If there is an increased heat while water is absorbed, the water will evaporate and seep out through her pores. The gradual loss of water diminished her strength and speed output until it eventually fades away. Sponge body has a 15 minute time limit before the water needs to be expelled from the body. If this quirk is used longer than the limit allows it can cause water intoxication which could lead to something fatal. The larger the amount of water the user absorbs the shorter the time limit. The average amount of water absorbed in a single use is around half a gallon which has the original limit of 15 mins.
Once expelled from the body, the user is capable of using Sponge Body again, but continuous use places great strain on the muscles without the proper training. Along with that, the continued absorption and expulsion can cause them to lose incredible amounts of liquid as the water in their blood may be shot out along with the water they'd taken in. Other than that, they have to keep their skin regularly moisturized.

personality « ... Harue is a Ms. Potato Head missing a few pieces. Her default expression is that of disinterest, a permanent frown that rarely twitches even when she is seemingly laughing. Making facial movement other than a frown is rather difficult her, and because of this people often think of her as a gloomy introvert. However, she is not introverted nor is a she shy as Harue is willing to entertain most conversations no matter how dull or flamboyant the they may be. She can be rather blunt in phrasing her opinion which is either a blessing or a curse, she hasn't decided yet. Words do not come to her easily, so the ones that do often be the ones that tend to leave her mouth first. Harue is just your average emotionless teen with airhead like tendencies. Overall a chill student.

Personality
Ohto is a man with little to no presence. He keeps to himself most of the time, rarely taking the initiative in interacting with people unless they talk to him first. He is not shy by any means, but he does like his personal space and dislikes for people to intrude in it. On the surface, he nothing special. He abnormally quiet, seemingly anti-social, and seemingly downright pessimistic. However, once you get into his good graces he is rather goofy and clumsy guy with a quirky attitude. For those who do know him, they call him Emoto, due to the roundness of his head and eyes making him look like a living emoticon. He very chill fellow who seems lazy but is actually an incredibly dedicated and hardworking putting in over a hundred percent. At times though, he can be very odd. Ohto has a penchant for sullen silences and mumbling gibberish to himself for reasons unknown. These ramblings can go on for a couple of minutes before he returns to his senses or someone brings him out of it. Sometimes it feels like he can be in his own little world which some find creepy since he acts as if he's hiding something, but it doesn't really change his character.

Biography
Ohto was born into a family of five with both parents and two younger brothers. They all live together in an average sized home in the suburbs, him and his siblings playing heroes with each other while there parents took on their respective roles. His mother was a part-time doctor receptionist and a full-time mother while his father worked at a construction site that mainly focused on large building projects and road work. Their family was quite a close knit group, having regular movie nights and family outtings. They weren't rich by any means, but that didn't stop them from experiencing the joys and wonders life had to offer. However, everything began changing when it came to development of their quirks. Ohto took mostly after his father when it came to appearance, but despite this, he inherited his mother quirk. The middle child, Kazuo, looked much like their mother except for the ears he inherited from father along with his quirk. The youngest born, Nao, was the spitting image of their mother, but lacked both parents quirk. When he turned four he had yet to manifest a quirk and upon taking him to the doctor it was determined that he was quirkless.
The news was shocking, but that didn't change much between them as they still loved him like they did before. Although, how the world saw him was a completely different matter. People always liked to believe in the concept of equality, that every man is equal quirk or no quirk. Where had that been for Nao, who was now the victim of intense bullying for his disability. He came home with things missing at first, a notebook suddenly vanishing or a few pencil missing from his pencil case. Thievery evolved into slander and vandalism as his notebooks were often filled to the brim with hateful comments that made even Ohto cry when he first saw them. As the older brother, he tried to stop it, and from what he saw he did. He fought for his brother and notified the school of his treatment. That would be it, he thought. Nao would never tell him anything after that, he wouldn't have wanted his big brother to worry for him. That's where Ohto messed up, his belief that Nao would tell him any and everything. By the time he realized the severity of the situation, it was too late. His little brother was in emergency care with half of his torso and cheek seared as if someone took a blow torch to him. The news of how it happen was kept undercover, but his family knew what had transpired. They knew, but knowing didn't take his brother's wounds away. It wouldn't return what he'd lost that day.
This turned everything over on its head. Their family began to collapse as they no longer spent time with each other as they did in the past, instead focusing on Nao's hospital bills. It was determined that he would never be able to use his left arm again, and that the smoke he inhaled from the incident damaged his lungs to the point of needing to breathe through a machine to keep his lungs functioning. Ohto was devastated. They all were. As time passed and Nao seemed to return to his old self, so did they. They tried going back to the time before everything happened, but it was impossible. They'd never be able to go back to what they once were.
In recent years, despite Ohto's best efforts, he managed to flunk out of college. His parents and even Nao pushed him to continue his studies, however, he decline as he believed it would be better to spend that money for Nao's medical expenses. He would make do with the knowledge he acrued and thus he began working odd jobs for people around his way along with a few part time positions at restaurants and convenient stores. Eventually, Ohto had found himself working as the janitor of a well-known hero academy where he still works til this day.
Aspirations: Be a decent nuff' janitor.
