One Mean Ghost
Your Ghost Host from the West Coast
Dante
That was easy.
Compared to the written exam he took to secure his recommendation, that one had been an absolute piece of cake. Moreover, a good number of the questions on this exam were carry overs from the Recommendation Exam. He blazed through the answers, a grin spreading over his features every time he came across a familiar question. This was where all his academic hard work paid off: all those hours he put in studying to be top in his class, all that time he dedicated to lock in a a slot at the Recommendation Exam, to ultimately secure a Recommendation. Everything was finally coming together.
At the end of the exam, he found the standard Integrity Pledge, which basically just said that he had completed the work himself with no outside help or influence, quirk related or otherwise. He couldn't help but sign it with a bit of a flourish. For the first time since the test was in front of him, he looked up. His face fell as he realized he had finished with more than a little time to spare. Judging by the furious writing around him, he may very well have been one of the first done.
Then came the waiting... That almost drove him nuts. Just sitting there, staring at the clock, counting the seconds as they turned to minutes.
At long, long last, the time concluded and he let out a sigh of relief.
He listened intently to Gatekeeper's speech. Covering his mouth to keep from snickering at the various slipups, and the obstinate piece of paper that decided to remain like a crown atop the teacher's head. So, there'd be five criteria that they had no clue about. Sure, you could probably guess one of the pillars was how effectively they used their quirk.. Another... probably teamwork? He didn't know, and it didn't do any good to think about it. Trying to game the test and play for points would just end up hurting in the long run, as far as he knew. Safest route for him would be to just do what came naturally. They liked him enough to give him a Recommendation, so he just had to be sure he lived up to the expectations he set during the Recommendation Exam.
He blinked as they all fell through one of the teacher's Gates, looking in awe at the Fifth Training Grounds. As the signal was given to begin, Dante wasted no time. He flexed his thumbs, blades popping from his rings as he drew them along his hips, paying no mind to shredding his 'nice' clothes. Sure, they looked good, but he'd gotten them clearance for just this kind of occasion. The blood from his cuts formed into a waist harness, wrapping around his thighs and waist, with a strange support extending directly up his spine to the back of his head.
Vampire Requip: Whiplash
Blood shot from his hips, latching on the archway as he took off through the arch, aware of others following hot on his heels. There were plenty of people able to search the rubble. Even now he saw one girl glitching all over the place and another octopus girl handling the rubble. His Quirk was ill suited to that kind of search and rescue, so he'd focus instead on the robots. As his blood lines locked on buildings, he let himself swing close to the ground. As his slit his palms, blades formed, cutting effortlessly through the robots. Of course, the first ones they'd encounter in the gate would be the cheap ones. These were the single pointers. The ones that anyone with the slightest bit of combat ability should be able to handle.
However, this school wasn't about to give students a gradual introduction to this exam. Just a couple blocks from the entrance, as Dante swung around a corner, he laid eyes upon one that easily towered thirty feet tall.
"Now that's more like it!" Dante bellowed, a wide grin spreading over his features. Its fist raised, aiming right for him, but he retracted his line, rising just above the fist as he started running up its outstretched arm. Shooting out his lines, he leaped off the arm as he tried to swat him with the other hand, swinging towards a nearby building and pulling himself towards its top. His feet touched the glass windows as he ran up the wall, his lines pulling him along as he accelerated rapidly before he launched straight into the air.
"Let's see how you handle a Bloody Tempest!" Dante laughed, a blood line locking on the nape of the robot's neck. His harness stiffened, supporting his body as he launched straight at the vulnerable spot. Twisting his core, he spun like a top, blades held out as he came down on the nape, cutting clean through on his way down. As the robot's head followed him down, his smile faded as he noticed something concerning. A little girl had wandered out, chasing her dog directly where this thing was gonna land. He locked his blood lines on the robot's legs as it started to fall, swinging towards the girl.
He had to time it perfectly....
The dog jumped.
Reaching one arm out, he snatched the pooch out of the air, using his body to soften the sudden jolt as he caught the girl too. As they swung through the creature's legs, the robot came to a crash right where the "girl" would have been. On closer inspection, she was most definitely a woman, just a very, very short one. Still, he had to play along for now.
"It's dangerous to be out here by yourself. Are your parents near here?" He asked with a kind smile as he patted the sniffling "girl". Her "parents" emerged a few minutes later, claiming the girl as Dante directed them back towards where the rest of the applicants would be streaming in, as that would be the safest direction. Giving both "girl" and dog a pat on the head, he saw them off before turning back towards the city, where still more sounds of chaos could be heard.
"One down..... Plenty more to go...."
