Level 20 Mizard
Bloodlust
Miz & Pineapple Game
INTRODUCTION
No one knows exactly how the world came to be. Maybe a city of chastity would have some tomes describing the events that corrupted the world. However we are not blessed enough to have such knowledge. All we know is that outside the sanctuary is a dangerous wasteland. It may not appear to be such from inside the sanctuary’s protective aura but don’t be fooled: the forests, mountains and plains of these unseen lands are unlike those within. They are twisted and distorted, with creatures and plants manifesting in forms which are difficult to describe without seeing it for yourself. Its in these wastelands that both archons and djinns roam. They are not alone however, as spawns and other depraved beings capable of existing in such terrible wastelands also traverse the landscape.
Many believe djnns produced this horrifying world. These unseen infernal creatures are shapeless. Becoming one with the environment they distort, they use their auras to influence the landscape: producing spawns and corrupting any creatures that gets close. These creatures are so powerful and abundant their aura has spread across the entire earth, with the exceptions of small sanctuaries scattered in between. Leaving a sanctuary’s protective barrier for a matter of minutes can alter a person (mentally and physically) for some time after. Walking in to the wasteland for long periods without protection is suicide, at best.
Fortunately there is a salvation. Humans from ages prior managed to survive through hunting Archons. The blood of archons is needed to protect our city and produce a sanctuary’s aura. As you probably know, this aura emitting from archons’ blood produces the unseen protective barrier around our city. Yet what many forget is that this aura also imposes a special virtue on a sanctuary’s inhabitants. This virtue depends on which type of archon is killed.
Yet it is not an easy task. Archons are powerful celestial creatures that are capable of naturally reverting the wasteland with their very presence. Archons take multiple forms whether flora, fauna or something indescribable. They possess various magical talents depend on the virtue they emanate. They are predatorial and just as destructive as any other horrible creature in the waste. For this reason we must kill them and extract their blood. Filling this blood into massive containers known as chalices that lie in the center of a sanctuary, we are able to replicate an archon’s natural essence. At least until the blood dries out.
Because of the crisis that befallen our city a generation ago, we are now an infused city (a city with a mixture of different virtues). Our chalice is no longer pure of any one virtue, as such we do not care which archons we slay. Now we care only for our continued survival and avoiding the mistakes of the past.
You have been selected at the Festival of Kindling by the cosmic artifacts which awaken on that special day. Selecting you as their chosen it is your duty to use these magical items to slay archons and anything else in your way. Removing an archon’s heart, and piercing it with your artifact will allow you to absorb its blood and deposit it later into our city’s chalice. Gifted with some of the last blood from our chalice into several small vials, you are the only group of humans from our city able to wander the wasteland.
GAMEPLAY INFORMATION
Group Storytelling
There is no single Game Master of this forum game. Instead this game will follow traditional forum roleplaying mechanics and allow every character to describe their surroundings from their character’s perspective. For this reason you are expected to contribute things to the game and add details in your own posts through your character’s perspective. This includes what your character sees when a fellow players succeeds or fails, when magic is casted, etc.
As players in this game you must be okay with the fact that there is not just one storyteller to determine the consequences actions and instead the effects of your actions will be determined by your fellow players based around what you rolled (see below). As well you must accept that this means as a player you must be willing to help make environments, enemies and plots in OOC that we will encounter.
There is of course limitations to this. Godmodding and other things will not occur in the game. This is because even though you make up actions and events with other characters, even to the point of explaining what enemies do in reaction to being attacked (such as making them roll) from your character’s perspective, you cannot describe damage being inflicted on or the actions being performed by another player character.
That being said NPCs and Background Characters are fair game, the same with enemies assuming the rolls done against or by them succeed/fail.
D6 System
Blood lust plays with a 1D6 system. When a character attempts to perform any actions in the game, they must roll a 1D6 to determine the outcome. This dice roll does not tell you exactly what the outcome will be, but how the situation will play out. In general, there is five possible outcomes.
1 - Horrible Failure.
This means that whatever action the character attempted was a failure. It has no effect or did not work. Please note that on a 1, the character doesn’t necessarily harm themselves or others, but it does mean it just didn’t work, even a little.
2 - Failure.
this means the action didn’t work. maybe they got close, maybe not. Regardless, the outcome was not what the character desired.
3 or 4 - Mediocre Pass.
The action performed worked. This is up to the interpretation of the player, but the action succeed. A pass does not mean your attack ‘hit’. Maybe it did, or, maybe the attacked knocked them back into a wall, then the wall collapsed and harmed them. it wasn’t the desired outcome, but had acceptable results.
5 - Good Pass.
This is where everything worked out was the character wanted. They hit the enemy, and the ability had the desired effect. Players should throw some detailing into the effect and scene, but the action worked out!
6 - Amazing Pass.
Incredible results, outcomes that are better than your character could have hoped. This does not mean the action went as the character wanted, it means everything went even better than planned.
Many skills and abilities have additional components to them, such as resistances or unique effects. These skills also utilize a 1D6. Unless the skill details an alternate system for the outcome of an event, the players should reference this list.
Virtues & Sins
One of the prime components to Bloodlust is the concept of Virtues and Sins. Every character has an affinity to two virtues and one sin (these affinities and referred to as ‘auras’ throughout the game).
In game your weapon’s abilities are based around what virtuous auras you have selected as your character’s cardinal virtues. These cardinal virtues will also establish how your character’s personality is shaped. Each player will select one major virtue (that determines their weapon set, which contains three spell-like abilities when using their weapon) and one minor virtue (that determines their extra fourth spell-like ability when using their weapon). Certain weapons can only accept certain major virtues, however all virtues are open for the selection of minor virtues regardless of weapon. This means that even though there are seven types of weapons, there are multiple skill-sets for each weapon. A character’s sin (which is discussed below) cannot be the opposing sin of either the character’s major or minor virtues.
Sin abilities are not associated to a weapon, as sin is innate in everyone. Every player in character creation will select one of the seven deadly sins. Each sin comes with three abilities that grow in a tech-tree arrangement (one being unlocked the more of a Sinner your character becomes). Sin abilities are extremely powerful and are useful for fighting against Archons. However Sin abilities are dangerous to use too often, and can later lead to corruption of one’s soul (as the character was walking around without protection) if abused.
The Four Statistics
There are four statistics that each character will have in Bloodlust. Health, damage, virtue, and sin. Health and damage are stats that are determined based on the major virtue of the character and what weapon they select. Virtue is akin to mana, determining how many virtuous skills a character can use before their virtue is worn out. Sin is a growing threat, that shows how naturally sinful a character is.
Health
- A character's health is a measure of how much damage that can retain before they die. Health can only be healed in two different ways, through archon blood, or through blood magics. Archon blood heals a character for 3 points of health for every 1 point of archon blood. Blood magic is magic regarding the transfer of blood from on target to another. If a character's health reaches 0, they are declared dead. However, if 10 points of archon blood is poured into the wounds of a recently deceased character, they will revive with 1 health.
Damage
- A character's damage is a baseline of the damage they inflict with basic physical attacks. Most abilities that deal damage equal to the characters base damage unless they state otherwise. As well, all basic attacks do not carry with them any aura.
Virtue - A characters virtue begins at a maximum of 25. Virtue can only be restored through entering a sanctuary. When a character enters a sanctuary powered by a chalice, their current sin is reduced to 0, and their current virtue is filled to maximum. Virtue Maximum can be increased over the course of the game by performing actions or reaching important locations.
Sin
- A character’s sin begins at a maximum of 0. Sin is an interesting stat, as a character's current sin will increase at a rate of 1 per hour when exposed to the Djinn. This current sin will raise well beyond the characters maximum. As such, a character can have sin that might read something akin to ‘11/2’. Maximum sin is increased by using sinful abilities. The interesting thing about maximum sin is that, when a character is not in a sanctuary, their sin will automatically regenerate at a rate of 1 per hour even when not exposed to Djinn until it reaches the maximum. When a character's current sin reaches 30 points, they become a corrupted human, and become a near mindless monstrosity. As a characters maximum sin increases, the rate it regenerates increases as well. No one can outrun it forever.
Weapon Sets
In Bloodlust there are a choice of Seven Weapon Types. These weapons types are left vague in order for players to individualize the description of their own weapon. Each weapon type has four major virtues it can pick from. Each of the four virtue come with 3 abilities unique to that virtue + weapon combo. Your character innately knows this skill-set and can use any of the three abilities when possessing their weapon (unless stated otherwise) at the cost of Virtue Points.
Your weapon also gains one additional ability from whatever minor virtue you select. This extra ability can come from either one of the four virtue skill sets (so you can mix or match) or one of the three extra skills that are attached to the three virtues your weapon does not focus in.
The list below is an abridged list for the sake of convenience. A full list with each skill’s description, cost and mechanics will be provided at the game’s opening. However questions about certain abilities can be asked in the thread for those who are curious.

Shorter Character Sheets - The character sheet for this game will not be released until the game is up. That way everyone can see the full game and spell information before making their characters. However this game Pineapple and I will be having a short but sweet character sheet that will utilize bullet points. We hope that this will encourage players to be creative but also not inflict the time and commitment issues that can come from trying to add a lot of details in the character creation process (that can be summed up easily in a list format).
Post below if you have any questions or if you interested in playing.
