Personality: Damien, because of his power, has grown to despise those who lie as he can tell when they are doing it. However, it is not rare for him to lie so that it protects or helps someone else. Damien is more of a solo player, at least that's how he acts outwardly. He doesn't care about how well he does in nearly anything -unless- it would adversely affect someone he is friends with in which case he tries his hardest to fully commit to whatever activity is being performed. He tends to be lighthearted until he finds someone is lying to him, when that happens he internally shifts to being cautious and hesitant towards that person until he can figure out what they are thinking entirely.

If not no problem) Alicia Avordon, Damien and Alicia grew up with one another, and she is one of the few people Damien has come across that has never lied to him in a way he finds unacceptable. However she does not have powers and goes to a school a few blocks away.


History/Bio: Damien grew up concealing his powers so that he could fully utilize them. Because of this only a few ever knew about his powers until he would tell them. Damien tries not to use his power to cheat his way through life, but he has caught himself reading a players hand in poker. Because of this unintentional usage of power Damien often mistrusts himself, and sometimes berates himself for it.

Sydney is extremely timid and self-conscious around complete strangers and speaks as little as possible when encountering one; however, she is very bubbly and effervescent when comfortable with someone. She enjoys the company of people she knows, and is almost always smiling, whether she genuinely feels cheerful or not. Her emotions are always masked, and she is skilled in concealing them. She is very reluctant to share feelings of fear or dejection and veils these emotions, which are rare for her, with uninterrupted jubilation and optimism. Although constantly avoiding cliques of girls that care only about popularity and boys, as well as reckless, daring groups of people, she is willing to befriend anyone that is open to it. She is constantly worrying about how her peers think of her, and the only person with whom she is comfortable with openly sharing her feelings is her best friend, Saige Brookes. She is always trying to act differently with certain people, trying to make a good impression, which makes socializing for her uneasy. Though not quite relaxed around strangers and newly met people, she is very creative and imaginative, but daydreams frequently. Her mind is complicated and thoughtful, bringing her intellect and ingenuity. She possesses precise grammar and spelling, and is proficient in English, which is her favorite subject due to her passion for reading and writing - the only subject in which she is able to remain in a seat for a lengthy period of time. She is talented in math as well, but finds it exceedingly boring and dislikes it overall. She is not audacious and is instead rather prudent with her decisions, sometimes referred to as a coward because of her lack of courage for attempting something that she deems to be too risky. However, she is capable of mustering up the valor required for standing up for a companion; she would never forgive herself if she betrayed a friend that would do the same for her.

Saige Brookes, a girl whom Sydney has known since infancy. She was Sydney's rock to support her, always defending her and inspiring her. Saige lives many miles from Blanche Academy, but they have vowed to keep in relentless touch, no matter how far the distance between them is. Many sets of best friends drift apart when they move away from each other, but Saige and Sydney would never - at least, they believe so.

Sydney began her life as an orphan. Her heritage is known to no one. At the age of one, she was adopted by parents who were loving and devoted to nurturing her at first, and she had been the focus of all of their attention. They had been desiring to have a child but did not want to deal with the troubles of pregnancy. Her wealthy parents, Simon and Laura Sparks, loved and cared for her as if she were their own child. She was taken to dance lessons and soccer, gymnastics and swimming. She grew to love soccer and swimming particularly and was unenthusiastic about dance. She enrolled in a private elementary school, praised for her intelligence and early dexterity in reading and writing, keen understanding of the English language. Kindergarten was where she met the most wonderful friend she would ever find, Saige Brookes. Like Sydney, she loved to read books, and had begun at an early age. The two were hardly ever seen apart. However, shortly after she turned six years old, her parents' concentration towards her split. They had decided that they wanted a child of their own. Laura gave birth to a baby boy, whose name was Jared, and he promptly developed a hatred for Sydney. Sydney was forced to assist with her new brother's care, and was resentful of the fact that her parents' attention seemed to be devoted entirely on Jared now. She had always been told of how she was adopted, and what a miracle it was, but now it felt as if they cherished their own child more than her.

It was at the age of eight, soon after Laura had given birth to yet another child, Tristan, that Sydney discovered her ability. Jared, now two years old, had established a fondness for slamming doors. As she followed her brother back into the massive house that their parents provided them, returning from her forced game of tag with Jared, the toddler flung the door behind him as soon as he had darted into the house, just as Sydney was moving through the entrance. She, rather than colliding harshly with the door, permeated it, finding herself standing on the front mat of the building, which was muddy from Jared's shoes, the door now behind her even though it had just been in front of her. It was an immensely bizarre sensation, almost as if she were a ghost, but it hadn't been quite uncomfortable. Tentatively, Sydney stepped through the door again, feeling odd and dazed, bewildered by what had just occurred. Was she dreaming? She made yet another successful attempt and sprinted up the stairs, darting through the closed door of her room and separating the home phone from its stand. Her eyes flitted between the numbers as she hunted for each digit of Saige's phone number. Once they had finally connected, she informed her of what had just happened, and Saige instantly believed her. She was the type of friend that always believed anything, and Sydney never lied to or tricked her. Saige advised that Sydney tell her parents, and Sydney was reluctant to, but hung up and did anyway, both overwhelmed and overly thrilled about her newfound power.

Her adopted parents were in the kitchen, feeding their blonde-haired, blue-eyed Tristan baby formula. Once he had depleted the contents of the bottle, he promptly began to bawl violently, and Simon rushed through the kitchen to refill the container while Laura gently lifted the baby from his highchair and carried him to the diaper-changing station they had bought for Jared two years ago, but not for Sydney. Sydney tried to tell them what she had discovered, but they were too busy, as always, and told her to wait for later.

"Later" did not come until Sydney was fourteen. She had attempted to tell them countless times before, and had eventually given up. Her parents were the type of people that could only focus on one matter at a time. At fourteen years old, she now was the sister of eight-year-old Jared, six-year-old Tristan, and four-year-old twins Angela and Rosie. She knew that they all had teamed up against the adopted child when she woke up one Saturday morning when she was thirteen to all four of them hurling pillows at her. Throughout her years, Sydney began to love the outdoors and participated in overnight summer camps each year, which was a welcome relief for her parents from the abundance of children they needed to tend to. By the time she was fourteen and nearly fifteen, Sydney had grown considerably familiar with her supernatural ability, but the feeling as though she were an alien never ceased. With their youngest children at four years old, Laura and Simon were now slightly less occupied than they had been in the previous nine years, and were now more aware of their other children. Sydney had been nonchalantly infiltrating the wall between the kitchen and living room, where her parents and the twins were watching an episode of Spongebob on the vast brown leather sofa. As she entered the room, Laura and Simon merely gawked at her, clearly uninterested in the childish TV show they were viewing with their children. Angela and Rosie were absorbed, laughing hysterically as Spongebob taught Patrick how to blow bubbles. "She told us something like this would happen to her . . ." Sydney overheard Laura murmuring. She and Simon quickly brought Sydney into the dining room, where they had an elongated discussion about her ability. Her adopted parents had received a mysterious letter long ago that had told them that Sydney was special, and to expect her to develop a supernatural ability. It had informed them of Blanche Academy, where Sydney was requested to enroll in as her power strengthened. There was not much more information. So they concluded that, in the following year, Sydney would be sent to Blanche Academy, a high school purely for people like her.
