Sleipnir
The Eight-Legged Norse Horse
What's going on at Blackwater Falls?
Rumor has it Canaan Valley has some dark secrets hidden in it. It's not in the newspaper, and the local ski resorts don't want you to know, but there are some creepy tales of disappearances and strange noises coming out of the woods circulating around the campfires in every campground across the forest. People have been disappearing. Stay too long, and you'll hear some stories. Every now and then, you might hear tell of a missing neighbor, uncle, sibling. No one knows where they're going. The police insist they're looking into it, but no news is coming out, no one's talking about it in an official way -- just empty promises to locals that "they're looking into it." It leaves room for the imagination to take flight... No bodies have been found, and no one knows for sure what's going on, but more and more theories are emerging, and rumors are spreading that whatever this is, it's supernatural in nature. A ghost stalking the hills, exacting revenge? Aliens? Mothman itself? Or something else?
The local police appear to be doing very little about these strange disappearances, and coverage has been nearly nonexistent. Most tourists remain ignorant to the situation unfolding in this little West Virginia town. The dynamic changed, though, when there was an incident at Blackwater Campground -- one of the more popular spots in the Blackwater Falls Forest. There was screaming, and when visitors and rangers investigated the site, they found blood, and evidence that someone had been dragged away... but they lost the trail in the gullies and mountains of the rugged forest around the campground. That incident raised quite a ruckus.
Despite significant pressure from the Forest Service, local law enforcement still refused to do anything. So they decided they'd handle it themselves. The Forest Service appointed several of their staff to investigating the disappearances and potential murder scenes. Their investigation immediately came to the attention of the FBI, who decided to send a couple agents themselves to assist. Both agencies are working hard to keep this investigation under wraps. Whether or not they'll succeed in keeping a couple nosey tourists or locals out of it is yet to be seen. Blackwater Campground is closed down, and the team will be dispatched to begin their investigation shortly. Their goal: Figure out what happened, what's responsible, and how to stop these horrifying disappearances.

Name: Morgan McCoy
Age: 26
Gender: Woman (She/her)
Sexuality: (Optional) Bisexual
Appearance:
Morgan is a somewhat imposing woman -- she's tall, at 5'9", with broad shoulders, a strong frame, and a generally not-very-petite look. She's tan from years of forest service work, unfreckled, and sometimes has sunburn across her face and shoulders. Her hair is somewhat messy, long, and black, cut into a rough wolfcut. Usually, she keeps it kept up in a ponytail, and it's wavy when it's down. It hangs around her face and over her green eyes. She usually wears tank tops and cargo pants when she's hiking or doing backcountry and trail work, but can be found in the visitor center in a traditional uniform.
Personality: Morgan is straight-forward, curious, and extremely adventurous. She's not the sort of woman who knows how to stay out of trouble and can often come off as fearless when you first meet her. She's a woman with incredible enthusiasm for her work, a sarcastic sense of humor, and overall, really enjoys being outdoors -- hence why she joined the Forest Service in the first place. She's proud of her work here, and has a hard time staying out of any weirdness which involves her place of work on account of how involved with weird things she tends to be. Morgan's stubborn, determined, and comes off as a bit of a tomboy. She's always doing something in the Blackwater Forest.
Special talents/skills:
Backstory: Morgan is a Forest Ranger, and works at the local ranger station present near Blackwater Campground. She was one of the rangers on-site when rangers were called, as she was doing an evening program. Prior to that, Morgan started her season in the spring, and has been exploring the local public lands ever since. She was born and raised in Minnesota, and has experienced strange things and mysteries like these since then.
While Morgan would love to be a little more involved with the Blackwater Falls investigation, and it's highly likely that she's snooping around on her own, but Morgan is pretty busy with trail patrol, backcountry work, programs, visitor center duties, and even keeping an eye on trail cams from the fire tower. With some of her coworkers tied up in the investigation, she doesn't have much free time -- but she sure would be happy to get involved.

Character Creation / Expectations and Rules
- There is no requirement for what exactly a character's background should be: As long as their sheet justifies their involvement with the investigation, they are an acceptable character concept, whether that makes them a ranger, FBI agent, unlucky witness who just can't leave it alone, nosy local, or what. Anything works.
- All characters are expected to be humans.
- Characters can be armed, but this game is going to be more mystery than action.
- I will have NPCs, and sharing one as an example (who will probably be one of the more common ones to see), but will not be having a designated PC.
- I don't plan on being insanely picky, but will respond accordingly if characters don't feel compatible
- Characters should fit a spooky/horror setting
- I am not picky on character sheets. One is included here if you don't have a specific one you want to use!
- Tone expectations are at least mostly-serious/atmospheric horror
- Behavior expectations are pretty standard: Be respectful, follow all RPN guidelines
