Swamplands:

As Kallisto rounded the corner the frenzy started. Violette's thrust straight out caught her high in the shoulder, an in response a roar sounded within Kallisto's head as Violette pulled back surprised that she hadn't felled the large woman. The other's rushed forward to try and close through the difficult mud while Peri worked her way up as if she had lived all her life in the swamp because she had. Kallisto's sudden rage lent her strength attempting to grab the small Violette who danced away from her first attempt to grab her with a swat to the first hand. Ignoring the pain in her hand the other shot forward grabbing Violette by the leather shirt. She tugged unable to free herself immediately by spinning out of the grip so instead she pressed the attack to try and fend her attacker off.

Two quick jabs one finding it's mark in the same shoulder trying to exploit the weakness, but the large woman powered through it holding tight. Violette's third attack lifted her blade straight up attempting to slice Kallisto's hold. She let go... but the other hand immediately surged forward and caught her before she could take the opportunity to move. This woman was a beast! Two wolfs appeared on her side, and began to bark at her. The large woman pushed Violette backwards but she leaned into the push throwing a leg for an attack as much as balance only for it to caught by Kallisto's firm grasp. It was a simple tug to send her off balance to the ground and a claw wracked her back as she went down. The wolfs jumped in grabbing her feet and tearing her heels through her boots, as she tried to rise she felt the crack of a quarterstaff on her back. Frustrated as being hit while she was down she twisted onto her back while kicking the wolves off doing little more than keep them at bay for a moment as her Rapier arched out slicing Kallisto along the wrist. As Kallisto winced retracting her hand Viollette's feet did a semi circle to give her the momentum to stand. She stood up into a straight through into the heart of the large woman, and slammed what little weight she had to pull the woman off her sword. Surprisingly the woman finally fell and Violette turns her blade to fend off a messy looking girl and her wolves. She almost growls back at them.

"Back off!" says Violette beginning to point her blade down at the large woman before the sounds of more footsteps from behind the tree. She hears words at the last moment and she feels her body seize up. The man who froze her came up as she struggled against the spell tearing the rapier from her hands as her eyes followed him wanting to strike out at him. The small girl goes and heals the large woman back up, and that is when she knew she was going to die fighting here. With the sudden realization of she has a thought. 'I'll take as many of them as I can with me.' With this thought she is able to overcome the spell and drop into a low defensive stance for balance. Suddenly the mist coalesced in front of her and a large knight stood tall between her enemies and her. He reached out towards her, she thought to recoil but the healing passed over and through her refreshing her and he spoke. "Enough!" His voice was commanding and she looked to the others who halted their attack. She quickly drew two daggers from boots, if they were going to give her a chance to rearm she was going to take it. She held her ground however blades held out while behind the man in front of him.

Did she know him somehow? He didn't seem familiar.... She really hoped she hadn't slept with him. Maybe that's how she had thought to escape the slavers.... just where the hell was she? This didn't look like anywhere in her home country she knew of. How far had they taken her and had she been drugged for most of it? That would explain the immediate lack of memories. "I don't know who any of you are but give me space if you want me to believe you. No more funny business with the spells or my next dagger goes through your eye," she says straight to Yelcan specifically. She had to keep a show of confidence here, pirates and slavers were all about posturing. Though now that she was getting a better look at these people they hardly looked like your average slaver. A urchin, a pretty lass, skinny lad with the spells, tall armored and handsome, large brute but cute, and then the other one.... sharp eyes hidden under a ne'er do well like outfit, there was more behind that one that meet the eye. She had a broom too? A witch? She'd have to watch her two, lucky she had two daggers and more to spare. "Do you even know who I am?"

Great question.... did she know who she was? Not important at the moment, she knew she was important. Her eyes went back to the knight in front of her. If she had to trust someone to start it'd be him. Standing up straight behind him she took a more relaxed pose though the daggers did not leave her hand. She wouldn't be unarmed so easily again.

Peri stood slowly from her crouched position not ready yet to dismiss her wolves. It was dangerous still. “Bear, we are done fighting. Please, believe me, we don’t want to harm anyone. You know this.” Frown growing she sets her staff to her back and backs up. The wolves backing with her.

Léone flinches at Bernard suddenly apparates between her and Violette, posturing to defend against the rest of the group like they were complete strangers. "What the hell was wrong with them...?" She glances over as Peri starts to back off and nods slowly at Violette and Bernard, taking the broom and sticking it handle first into the mud before starting to reach for her other things. "Please, we're not going to do anything else. I know it's not much right now but I'm sorry for us charging in, neither of you are in your right state of mind and whatever you saw could still be out there. We just didn't want you endangering yourselves."

She slips off her bag and drops it on the ground, then takes off the opal gauntlet and gingerly places it on top. "No more fighting, I promise. You know us, we're your friends." She bites her lip and takes a deep breath, trying her best to remain calm in this sheer chaos. She had to - she couldn't imagine how Arissa and Peri and the others were feeling right now. With one final movement, she pulls out her wand from its holster and reaches a hand out to the side, making sure that Violette and Bernard could see she was dropping her only weapon. Then she puts her hands up to show that she was completely unarmed. "I'll put myself at your mercy if that's what it takes to convince you. I've got no weapons and no armor - you can even pat me down if you want. Will you hear us out at least?"

Through all the pain, the mental growling in Kallisto's mind rose -- her axe ached to be used -- how dare this small woman hurt her so much! Yet at her base, the part of Kallisto that was still aware recognized an animal-like panic in Violette's eyes. She grasped at the nimble woman, sometimes her hands moving too slowly, other times her claws gripping Violette's leather armor tightly, only to lose and regain her grip -- like trying to catch a fish, until Kallisto managed to pin her down.

She didn't want to hurt her, but in a moment of her mind slipping from the pain she struck with her claws across Violette, immediately regretting it, only for Violette to slip away again, turning back and delivering a strike right into Kallisto's heart. Blood flowed from the wound as the world seemed to shift into slow motion, the growl in her mind fading as Kallisto slumped towards the ground. With what little she could still feel, she sensed a growing tug in her gut towards the greataxe on her back, her fading thoughts, "The serpent..."

Unaware of how much time passed, the tug faded as she opened her eyes to Perian with her hands placed on Kallisto's most serious wounds, managing to heal them enough for her to breathe painfully. Shakily she stood, her other stab wounds still bleeding, her breath ragged from the blood in her lungs, "We just want to understand what happened ... we're trying to help you two -- not hurt you both! We're out here together! Just ... calm down for a godsdamn minute!" She winced from speaking, coughing roughly for a moment.

Looking between Violette and Bernard, she saw no recognition ... what had happened during their watch to cause this? Was this yet more magic problems? She reached into her small pouch, slowly, trying not to startle the pair, "Look ... if it makes you feel better, I am one of the guards... for Blackburn's Crossing." In her large hand rested the small badge Thomas had given her, the crest visible with its badger, "As I said ... we came out here together, after a serpent that's here in the swamps."

She adjusted herself against the tree, still weak from the bloodloss , "I know who you are," she nodded towards Violette. "Violette Reiner, somewhere in line for a throne, visiting Blackburn's Crossing, but I think James Blackburn offered to hire you ... and you offered to come with us out here to help. You visited my home ... and I let you take some beads before you left." Kallisto pointed to her beaded bracer, "You placed them in a pocket -- you probably still have them on you. You ... trusted me enough to show me something personal ... told me of the problems you had growing up, problems we both dealt with ... I did not want you to run too far through the swamps, for there are many dangerous things and if you're not in your right mind ... you'd be easy prey."

Kallisto turned her tired gaze to Bernard this time, "You are Bernard ... though I'm unsure which family name you have decided on, be it Marsh or Hathoway. You're the head priest, Father, for the Ezran church of Blackburn's Crossing -- you have a spiritual steed named Durendal, though I'm unsure if you brought him here with us or left him to guard the Crossing." She nodded towards Perian, "This is your sister -- one of your few family members left ... your mother was trapped inside a book and," gesturing towards Sulrac on Bernard's hip, "I let you borrow that sword, Sulrac, with a promise: that once we defeated the serpent we came out here for, I would help you as much as possible in getting your mother, Merris, back."

Leaning against the tree she slid down to a sitting position, the blood loss making it difficult to stand for much longer. Her eyes met Arissa's for a moment, before turning back to Bernard. "The ring you wear ... a signet ring for your family. The Hathoway crest, but modified ... the eagle is with its wings spread ... that ring is not the true ring I think. Earlier I saw you slip the same ring into Arissa's pocket while she welcomed you home, but I don't think she realized. A signet ring, a soaring eagle, and the maker's mark of Maria Einhorn on the inside -- the same maker's mark that I would expect to be on Sulrac considering I bought it from the same smithy, owned by the Einhorn family."

Closing her eyes she continued, her muscles sore from the exertion and her wounds, "We all woke to a scream and saw you two looking injured ... we're all on edge, but we wanted to help. We would never harm either of you unless we absolutely had to ..." she placed a hand on her shoulder wounds, "I was ... willing to take the pain if it meant helping a friend." Her eyes teared up slightly, "I don't ... I don't know what to say anymore ... if we hadn't come out here for my sake, this probably wouldnt've happened ... you two would be fine, and it'd just be another day in the Crossing ..."

Kallisto rubbed her eyes with a muddy arm, smearing dirt across her face, "If you doubt my words ... then let your own word help show I'm telling the truth. Place your signet ring in your hand, think of any sort of weapon and say the word 'Subcinctus'. Arissa has the real ring in her pocket ... if that still does not work ... you have mentioned you have the ability to force truth from people. Let all doubts fall away if you wish -- I have no reason to deny your magics." After speaking she pulled her knees up to her chest, her arms crossed as she rested her head down, waiting to find out what would happen now. "... I ... did not intend to place friends ... in such danger..."

As the group postured and fought against the girl, Bernard lumbered forward retrieving his shield from his side. With a shield in hand he felt an urgency to his movement, he focused and mentally begged he could move faster, in an instant he was with her. He set his feet and raised his shield, no more harm would come to her. He reached back to heal her as he warned them off bellowing "Enough!"

As things calmed and weapons were put down he listened to the arguments, but his focus was somewhat elsewhere, worried for the woman behind him. He knew her look, lost and hunted. He addressed her, "They call you Violette, and if you're like me then you don't remember it. Your name, your home, your friends..." He looked toward Arissa, "Your love. It's ok, because you defended me. The first thing I remember is that man and a great pain. Then you yelled, you called me Bernard and called him... Jared. You chased him down stabbing him, and I had touched him. While I ran to safety you guarded me and I am here to guard you. They won't hurt you anymore." With his last statement he looked around to the group a bit of a warning. Could I honestly take them all? Unlikely. But I could slow them down, if it comes to that.

He sighed and lowered his shield slightly. Addressing the group, "You tend to agree with each other... so that's a start. Let's see this ring then, Arissa. And I want to hear from her, Perian." He pointed to the small half elf girl. The name felt foreign and wrong in his mouth, he tried to dig, correcting himself but his memories were a haze, "Peri, who am I to you?" I know I have the power to make them speak true, but I must conserve my strength - for now I will have to trust them, they seem to agree with each other on the details.

Hearing the large one called Kallisto speak in a foreign tongue, he watched her, "So far the only danger I have seen here is you and your companions. If you want to help, give her some space. And answer this, who is that crimson haired woman to me?"

Kallisto glanced up as Bernard spoke in the language he had told her was 'sylvan' though to her it was still just the first language she remembered knowing. "I'd move but right now I'm having a hard enough time just standing ... please understand, a moment ago ... I think... I was dying." She placed a hand on her chest where Violette's sword had gone through her heart-- the wound was covered over, but the blood and hole in her clothing still remained. "I at least did not intend for things to become so violent ... I tried to be as gentle as I could, I did not ... mean to claw at Violette, but sometimes I lose myself."

She looked towards Arissa, knowing she was understanding the conversation, "That is Arissa -- you both have protected and helped each other. Rarely lately does one find either of you without the other trailing nearby ... She's been living at your home, you were with her at a ball hosted a few days ago ... Neither of you have made it a secret how you feel towards another." Kallisto gave a tired smile, "I'm pretty sure you two would destroy the world for each other ... if it came down to it."

Arissa felt her heart break as Bernard turned and ran from her and nearly gave up chasing him but forced herself to continue. She ran after him, nearly slipping in the mud in her haste as the glowing dome dispersed behind her. “Please, do not fight! I promise you, there is no need for violence!” Despite the magic she laced into her pleas, Bernard did not seem to even notice, and evaporated into most before her eyes. Arissa stumbled forward and leaned on a tree, nearly collapsing and barely holding back her tears as she saw Kallisto in the ground, bloodied and beaten as Bernard stood against their friends.

Arissa watched as her companions backed off one by one, and listened as Kallisto made her plea to Bernard, barely able to comprehend what she was saying until she heard her name mentioned and Kallisto met her gaze. Arissa’s eyes widened in surprise as her hands seemed to find her pockets of their own accord, and she pulled out the familiar ring. She let out a small sob as she realized that he had likely intended some sort of romantic proposal and then looked up at the man before her as he asked to see the ring.

Arissa briefly glanced at Kallisto as she spoke in sylvan and then slowly stood up from the tree, approaching Bernard with her gaze cast downward. She held out the ring towards him and whispered in celestial. “I know you are confused and do not know what to believe... but if you will trust one thing that you have been told, please let it be this. I love you with all of my heart, and no matter what has happened to you, that will never change.” Unable to hold it back any longer, tears began to roll down her cheeks as Arissa looked down, unable to bear the look of unfamiliarity in his eyes any longer.

Peri blinked as she was addressed in elven she rarely used it other than spells anymore. With frown she wanted to embrace but felt he would not let her get near in these situations. You..” she teared and smiled as brightly as she could. “You are my elder brother and most cherished friend. Bear, come back to us. Remember Momma Merris?” She stares up into his face, “Poppa Ferrin?”

Swallowing back further choked words, “I don’t have any proof.” She slumped a little and fell silent.

Bernard cautiously took a step forward then turned to Violette, "You can stay next to me or wait here, I will protect you either way, but I need to do this." He approached Kallisto with purpose. He knelt over her reaching out a hand and clutching his amulet, a searing pain cut into his own flesh as he healed the woman then helped her stand. "We must trust one another, I have helped you, now give her space." He then turned to Arissa, his heart ached to see her in such a state but he could not comprehend why, seeing the Hathoway ring brought more confusion as he understood he should feel something, that there was something there between them, but he couldn't find it. Still he could not stand to see her cry, and he gave her a hug. "Do not cry, if there is love, it will find us again." He held her as his sister spoke. Bernard released Arissa, wiping her tears from her face and closing her fingers around the signet ring that matched his own. Turning to Peri, there's some recognition on his face. "Peri, I'm scared. I don't remember mom... or dad... or any of them. I just remember you coming home. It hurts to remember, like pushing through a pile of needles to a single piece of hay... You were lost and someone found you and I had to watch you, take care of my little sister. What... happened? How did we get so old? Why are we in the swamp with this snake?" He moved toward Peri as she slumped, "You don't need proof, you'll always be my sister." He smiled and used his free hand to mess her hair before giving her a hug and turning to Violette. "This is my sister, Peri. I... remember... She is kind."

Swamplands:

Violette tensed a bit at Kallisto's yell but remained unmoving. As long as they didn't come forward she didn't seem interested in pressing the attack. She listened to what Kallisto had said about her but the attention seemed to turn more towards Bernard. She seem to contemplate what Kallisto said for awhile until language's changed. For a moment she tensed once more seemingly on guard for a few moments almost each time a foreign language is spoken. When Bernard looks to her and says he will protect her, she nods once to him. "As long as they keep they're distance we'll be fine...." she says her eyes still seeming to size up everyone. Her eyes watched Bernard interactions and occasionally seemed to look where everyone was at.

The healing flowed over Kallisto, helping to seal a few more of her wounds, though her breathing was still painful. As Bernard pulled her to her feet she tipped backward slightly from the weight of the greataxe and still feeling weak. She stepped back as Bernard spoke to the others in languages she didn't understand before finally returning to common, announcing he at least understood who Perian was.

Glancing towards Violette she was saddened to see her still on guard ... she noted the patting of pockets briefly, but for all she could tell, she might have been checking for spare daggers. Kallisto gave a low growl of a sigh, noticing the torn fabrics and dried blood from where she'd swiped at Violette from the brawl. "I truly am sorry for hurting you ... I -- I did not want to, but ... in the pain from your blows, I lost myself for a moment." She bowed her head slightly before raising it, "...slavers are a very specific thing to assume we are, given how ... rag-tag I suppose we look."

Shaking her head slightly, "It seems I might need to reintroduce myself to you already ... I am Kallisto, I make small woodcarvings, and I talk to animals far more often than people. What do you remember of yourself ...?"

Arissa felt Bernard’s familiar warmth as he approached her and embraced him back almost desperately. “Please... do not leave me too...” She met his gaze and her heart sank as she realized that he still had no clue who she was, and was merely humoring her. Arissa choked out another sob, but began to calm a bit when Bernard wiped away her tears, and looked down at the hand he closed around his signet ring. She reached out for him as he pulled away, but he was already gone, and she hugged herself tightly and stepped away as the warmth faded away.

Swampland:

"Very little, but I know enough to kill people," she said putting away one of her daggers and then the other. She looked over to Yelcan who was still holding her sword. "I promise not to attack you as long as none of you comes close or tries to touch me. Can I have my sword back?"

She momentarily turned to Kallisto. "What do slavers usually look like? Sometimes they are gruff men, with rashes over their faces, and other times they are sweet noblemen dressed in silken outfits. It matters not what you look like, it's a problem all along the Musarde from Mortingy to Richemulot. You say I am not in Richemulot and I came to help so I'll continue to believe that.... for now," she says though she quickly adds.
"That doesn't mean I won't stop watching you."

Kallisto shrugged tiredly, "Watch as you will. My experience has been more dealing with pirates that came to attack Blackburn's Crossing -- an attack you helped defend against. It is good to know you do remember things ... do you recall your brothers?" She gestured towards Bernard, "He seemed to remember some of his family at least."

Swaying on her feet slightly, "I hope we can regain some level of trust ... I think everyone panicked. But now we seem to have calmed down a little ... and your willingness to believe at least some of what we say ... I am grateful." Kallisto rubbed her face again, "I suggest we maybe get back to where we had camped ... perhaps seeing your things set alongside ours will help put you at ease as well. I hope Aluc didn't wander off with all the commotion..."

Swamplands:

Violette takes the Rapier back when Yelcan hands it to her and she gazed down at it holding it in her hands. "Of course I remember, Ludovico. He's the one that gave me this sword, and Gaspard's too cowardly to come on an expedition like this," says Violette matter of factually. "Leave me for a time, I need to gather my thoughts."

She walked back to their camp and observed her things checking through them for a bit before sitting down on her bedroll.

Peri hugged Bernard back, he knew her at least a memory. That would be enough to bring him back it would have to be. “Bear, I’m scared too, but we will figure this out it’s been fifteen years since then. We are not old we are grown up. We will find out where your lost time is, together we can do anything remember.”

Pulling away she frowned watching Arissa’s obvious struggle, one she knew at least some of the pain in her heart. “Bear, you’ve experienced many hard times but also joyous, you became a great Paladin, Ezra grants you healing and gifts.” Offering her hand she points towards all their stuff.

“Let us rest and talk, perhaps more will come back. As for our adventure now, we are on the hunt for a great snake that is causing trouble. Though I think we should pause our efforts until you are more comfortable.” Nodding at him then looking to the others. “Kallisto do you need assistance getting back to your bedroll?”

Léone slowly picks up her belongings, not quite sure what was going on with the slew of different languages but gleaning that things had probably calmed down for the time being. Noticing people begin to split off she glances over to Arissa, noticing the familiar distant stare she often held herself. "We even had that talk today... I can't imagine how she feels right now." Walking up she slowly circles around to enter her field of view and waves slightly to get her attention. "Arissa... it's been a long night. You should probably get some rest," she says, unsure how to broach the subject. She gently comes forward and puts a hand on Arissa's shoulder, hoping to steer her a bit towards camp. "It won't do you any good to just stand out here... alright? We'll figure this out in the morning, when everyone's up and recovered."

Bernard smiled, but it faded as his eyes darted around, "We're not in the mist again are we? You didn't follow me in here and get lost too?" There's a terror in his voice as he quakes in fear, his armor rattles lightly, but he shakes it off with an agressive shake of his head, like a wet dog shaking off water. "Jeremiah, he asked me to watch the church. Maybe he can help. I want to remember, but it's so hard to think."

He turns to Kallisto as Violette returns to the camp. Taking her arm over his shoulder and supporting her weight. "Lean on me." The words felt oddly familiar, he laughed at the obsurdity as he helped her back to the bedrolls behind Peri. "We should give Violette her space. Never know what might cause her alarm." He called to Violette, "We're just coming to rest, there's no need to fear. I promise not to let them hurt you." Placing Kallisto down on her bed roll, Bernard grabbed his spear and took up a watch near Violette, trying to keep everyone in his sight while also watching the wilds around them, in the back of his mind a vague terror that he was back in the mists.

Arissa nods wordlessly and allows herself to be led back to the camp. She watched Bernard make his way over from a distance, feeling as if a piece of her heart had been torn out and was now being dangled in front of her and then lay down on her bedroll, trying to will herself asleep so that she could awaken from the nightmare. She opened her tightly clenched hand and once again saw the ring Bernard had planted on her earlier, and stared at it a long time until sleep mercifully took her.

Swamplands:

As everyone starts to head to bed Violette takes a moment to walk over to Bernard. "Thanks.... for earlier. I'm not sure what everyone's relationship is to each other still but... thanks," says Violette standing there awkwardly for a moment. It seems that she's probably not used to doing this and quickly retreats back to her bedroll which she had separated a few feet from the group. As time goes on through the watch most is silent as Bernard and Violette search their thoughts and memories, about fifteen minutes before people wake up Violette shakes her head laughing. "What a colossal fuck up. Has most of it come back for you as well?"

Violette looked over to Bernard for a moment. "I'll collect some wood for breakfast, I'll be right back Leone." Violette wanders off and collects some wood to start a fire so breakfast can be cooked, and soon brings back a bit.

Deciding to keep watch Léone sits to the side of the camp, giving Violette and Bernard some respectful distance as the others tried to sleep. Trying to keep her mind off of what had just happened - and its far too ironic parallels to her own situation - she flips through her spellbook and notes while keeping an occasional lookout for other dangers. On occasion she notices Violette glancing at her curiously, almost as if she was trying to recognize her face, but doesn't say much of it.

A bit before the others wake up she's brought back to reality by Violette's laugh and statement. Just as she's about to question what she meant Violette glances at her and says... her name. "Uh... okay?" She blinks a couple times and looks between the two of them as Violette grabs some wood, rather lost at the whole scenario. "You're... you're alright now, Bernard?" She closes her spellbook and scratches her head as Violette comes back. "And you too... Violette? What the hell happened to you guys?"

Bernard nods, "Yeah, I guess I just needed... time to sort it all out. It was like wandering aimlessly through the dark, I didn't know what I was going to run into until it was in my hands." He took a seat and laughed uncomfortably with Violette, looking over to Arissa, "I can't imagine what that must have been like for her..."

When she had left, Bernard rubbed his temples. "Don't worry, I'm all here. I have no clue what that man did or how he did it, but I recommend not touching anyone you don't know." He smiled and looked around addressing Leone, "I should probably check my traps, but if you wanted to talk, I think it can wait a moment."

Kallisto accepted the help between Perian and Bernard, glad at least Bernard seemed a little more like himself. Stiffly she lowered herself to her bedroll, aches and pains still there, but at least now she could breathe easier after Perian had healed her again. Eventually sleep took her, though it was mostly the mental exhaustion of trying to figure out how things would go now ... trying to balance the tension the party seemed stuck with ...

In what little sleep she managed, instead of the usual dreams she had since the axe, she now found herself on the ground, limp -- the axe near her, and the terrifying tug she had felt as she was bleeding on the ground. She had been carrying it with her for the past few days ... and though she had spoken of it to so many, she'd nearly forgotten the very real risk the weapon posed. She had been so close ... and they hadn't even traveled a day... the tug got stronger, stronger again until she woke with a jolt, a hand grasped around the greataxe.

Blearily she heard small conversation as she slowly sat up, pulling her hand off the weapon, clothes sticky from the dried blood, mud caked on her from attempting to pin Violette, muscles in pain, her clothes still torn from the attacks. Looking towards Leone then Bernard and Viollete, an expression of confusion she merely asked, "...what?"

Bernard looked back toward Kallisto as she woke confused. "Well, I figured out why you leaning on me was so funny." He chuckled, "I guess even when I don't remember who I am, I'm still me. All I really know is that I met a man named Jared from a small village a few days from here. He claimed to be hunting something that turned people to puddles and had a nasty rash on his arm. When I tried to cure his affliction, I was struck by a sudden pain and simply... forgot... everything. I only knew that I had to do what I could to survive. It seems something similar happened to Violette, but over the past hour our memories have returned. I think largely it helped that we could search for them. As I was explaining to Leone, it was like groping through the dark until your hands find something solid then hoping that solid thing did not spell your end but your salvation. Violette went to collect some firewood and I'll be checking my traps, hopefully we'll find some breakfast."

He smiled and stood, walking over to Arissa in her bedroll and squatting down. Leaning in to her ear, he whispered "Wake my angel, I've come back for you."

Swampland:

Violette looks back at the group as Bernard explains and nods before going back and starting up the fire carefully, and getting a good one going before outlining it with stones that she can find from the nearby area. "Alright fire is ready if you managed to catch anything with those traps of yours," says Violette.
