Beauty and the Beast

SandraDeelightful

Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee
Adele slowly walked up to the mansion. She slowly reached her hand out and knocked on the door. Her father hadn't been seen in days, and she was beginning to grow more and more worried for him. He had gone on a business trip and was only supposed to be gone three days, four at most. It had been seven days since he had left and there had been no word from him. She had been worried when he hadn't been home on the fourth night, and insisted that she go out to look for him. Her brother on the other hand, had told her, that he was fine and would probably just come home late at night or early in the morning. At that point Adele really began to worry. She had left her house and had not stopped searching for him since. She had been going door to door, not going into work at the library, and had not slept since the fifth day her father did not return home. She could not bring herself to do so. Her hair was slightly disheveled and she looked exhausted, however, she could not bring herself to stop searching. She needed her father home safe. Despite the fact that her and her siblings had jobs, her father's brought in the most money.

It wasn't just the money he brought in that was the reason for her father to come home safe. Adele loved her father dearly. Her mother had died when she was young and he had been the only parent that she had ever truly known, and it was obvious that, while he loved her siblings dearly, she was his favorite child. She wanted him home badly. She needed him home badly, quite possibly more than the rest of her siblings did.

After knocking on the door, Adele stepped back and hoped that someone would answer. And she hoped that when they did answer, they would have some information about her father, but a part of her doubted that they would.

A butler opened the door and looked her up and down with a grimace. She had a resemblance to the man they had found trespassing on their grounds so he decided it would probably be best to take her to Mr. Warner. "Follow me," he said with a sigh and began to lead her through the mansion. The entryway was lavishly decorated with a beautiful, hand-woven rug on a dark wooden floor. Every wall had a painting with a large silver frame and there were bookcases all around with souvenirs from around the world sitting on them. Every room they went through was just as richly decorated and they went through plenty before reaching the library where Mr. Warner was. The butler knocked on the door and when he heard the grunt from inside that meant he was allowed to enter, he turned to the girl. "Wait here, I will go announce your arrival. Based on your...appearance, I can only assume you're here about the man." He went into the library and shut the door behind him before she had a chance to say anything in response.

"James, you know I'm busy. What could possibly be so important that you're bothering me right now?" Emmett said without lifting his eyes from the book he was glued to. Despite his relatively even voice, his jaw was tense and his eyes were slightly squinted, showing his anger at being interrupted.
"Yes sir, I know. But there was a girl at the door and..." Emmett cut him off before he could continue.
"There was a girl at the door? There was a girl at the door?! You interrupted me because some girl knocked on the front door?!" He slammed his book shut and tossed it onto the table beside him.
"Sir, I believe the girl is here about the man we found trespassing a few days ago," James replied calmly, ignoring the outburst.
Emmett grunted, still angry but accepting that perhaps the visitor might be important if only to get her to go away and be able to go back to his reading. "Show her in. I'll speak with her."
James nodded, bowed slightly, and went back out."Mr. Warner will speak with you, ma'am." He held the door open for her and bowed as she passed through.

Adele was grateful when the door opened. She was about to ask him of her father when he told her that she follow him. Adele did so without hesitation, hoping that he would have some information about her father. The house was lovely, but she could hardly bring herself to focus on that right now. Getting her father home was all that mattered. She felt a spark of hope as the man she was following told her that he assumed she was her about the man. She hoped that man was her father.

She waited paitiently for permission to enter. When the butler came back out, Adele quietly thanked him before walking inside. She saw the man sitting at the desk and she was immediately intimidated by him. She took a deep breath before she spoke.

"I'm sorry to disturb you, sir," said Adele timidly, "but my father was supposed to return home days ago, and he has not yet returned. I was hoping that perhaps you might have some information about it."

There was a twinkle of hope in her eyes, hoping he would have information about her father.
