A Beck in space
"Becoming a Cthulhu won't curse you," Rachel rolled her eyes. She phased through the couch and sat down beside him, laying out the book between them. "Look, it's nothing you haven't been before. It's part octopus, part dragon, part human form," she explained, pointing out the features on the drawn image. "All of these you've done plenty of times before. Just...put them together."
Starfire waltzed into the living room, knees dirty from just tending to her garden outside Titan Tower. She was heading straight for the fridge to get something to eat when she heard Raven say, "Start out small, like your Mushu dragon, or maybe just start with an octopus head and work your way down." She changed course and moved to the couch to see what Raven was talking about.
She gasped loudly and took the book from them turning it around to see the picture upright. "Why would you ask Garfield to be a Zarbnoff?!"
"You've seen a Cthulhu before?" Rachel asked, immediately intrigued as she thought it was a made up creature from a human who had lived long ago.
"I do not know it by that name," Starfire replied. "They are vile creatures said to live deep within red seas of Tamaran. I have never seen one in person, but it is said that the Zarbnoff are to blame for the Gzarnian uprising. The Zarbnoff create anxiety and malevolence in the mind."
Raven took the book back from Starfire and read the page over again. "Fascinating," she mumbled. Starfire's Zarbnoffs sounded very similar to the Cthulhu written in the text of her book. Maybe Earth was visited by one or more of these creatures at some point, creating the legend.
