Fandom Beast Boy and Raven (Closed)

Garfield looked at the tree and started to wonder if everything in this city was just big. The tree was easily bigger than a giraffe was tall and he touched some of the ornaments as they passed by. Once at the desk Garfield shook his head and quickly responded. “No but we got money. That’s good enough right?”

The man gave a kind smile and typed into the computer in front of him before looking back at Rachel and Garfield. “Well since you don’t have a reservation I can’t book you one of our bigger rooms but I can get you lovely couple a one bedroom one bathroom that’s just as beautiful as our other rooms are spacious.” He suggested.

Garfield blushed a little and turned to Rachel. He wasn’t sure what she was looking for specifically considering he just wanted somewhere to put his bags down and rest. “Uhh Whatcha think Rae?” He asked carefully.

Rachel had forgotten about the one bed situation in hotel rooms. Rachel’s face turned red in embarrassment, realizing what the attendant thought they were.

“Uhh, do you have any rooms with two beds?” She asked.

The man frowned and turned back to his computer. “Hmm, yes we do have a room open with two twin-sized beds, but there isn’t much of a view on that side.”

“Great. Sounds good,” she answered quickly. The man shrugged and plugged it into the computer.

Garfield wasn’t sure why this dude thought that the view in the room mattered so much but then again, he wasn’t sure what type of stuff people that are fancy liked. After Rachel set things according to how she saw fit, he dug around in his sock after setting his bags down and handed the secretary his debit card.

The man grabbed the card with his index finger and thumb in order to swipe it with minimal contact necessary then gave it back to Garfield. “Thank you sir, have a lovely stay.” He quoted as if it was mandatory to say. Garfield picked his bags up before heading into the elevator with Rachel.

Once inside he turned with wide eyes. “Look at all those buttons!” He scanned over them all and pointed to the largest number. “50 floors!” Even if their room was on the 32nd, he most definitely reached for the 50th floor button just for fun.

“Thanks,” Rachel said after Garfield paid and they both went to the elevator. She lowered her bags and crossed her arms as she watched him eyeball the buttons in the elevator. Of course he’d get excited over buttons.

As he reached towards the 50th floor button, Rachel slapped his hand away. “Don’t.” She reached over and hit the 32nd button instead. “This is an elevator, not a toy,” she said, rolling her eyes.

The elevator started moving and a jazzy song played over the intercom. Rachel stared blankly at the door, wondering what exactly the purpose playing music was for.

Finally there was a dinging noise and the doors opened up to reveal a long hallway of doors. The hallway was a light tan color, the doors a dark mahogany. Lamps lined the side, but it still looked a bit dark without natural light that would come with windows. All in all, it looked very uniform, very bland. Typical hotel vibe.

“What number are we?” Rachel asked as she grabbed her bags again and stepped out of the elevator. Probably because the hallway was so quiet, Rachel felt as if her voice was more loud than usual. She made a mental note to whisper so she wouldn’t wake up everyone on the floor.

Garfield groaned out loud and watched as Rachel pressed the correct button. “I just wanna see the top, I know it’s not a toy.” He crossed his arms and pouted. It wasn’t often he did this but now was appropriate in his eyes considering he only wanted to see the view at the top.

As the door opened Garfield looked around at the decor and was a bit disappointed. “Is this ‘posed to be fancy?” He asked while grabbing the keycard he was given by the man. He read the number and pointed to the third door down on the left. “That one!” He was excited to finally get to lay down in an actual bed and quickly picked his bags up, rushing to the door and opening it.

There were two beds that were separated by a nightstand next to each, space in between each nightstand. Garfield tossed his bags at the foot of the bed he claimed mentally and jumped onto it, back first. “Ahhhh….” He exhaled while looking over at Rachel. “Try your bed out Rae. It’s super soft!”

Rachel followed him in and walked over to the other bed. She did not jump onto the bed as Garfield did, choosing instead to throw her bags on top of it. She gave the room a quick look around.

It was just the one room and a bathroom right off the side by the entrance. On the other side of the entrance was a mini fridge, mirror, and sink with an included coffeemaker and two mugs. The two beds had there headrest against the wall, on the other wall being a tv sitting on a drawer. The last wall at the very end of the room had a large window currently covered by thin white curtains. Rachel moved to the window and opened the curtains.

“The guy was right. The view sucks,” Rachel confirmed. The only thing she could really see out the window was the street below and the building right across it, which looked like every other building in the city.

Garfield was busy vegging out on the soft bedsheets while Rachel walked around scouting the room out for whatever. When she mentioned the view being terrible he cranes his neck up towards her direction and smiled. “I dunno about you but the view looks great from over here.” Garfield said with a teasing tone.

After his half joke half statement, Garfield rolled over and plopped his feet on the ground before stretching out. “Do they have room service or is there like food in that little fridge right there?” He asked with a stomach rubbing motion. Of course after aimlessly walking around in a grandeur city, in size at least, Garfield was prepared to enjoy a feast of a meal. Not to mention the sleep and waiting at the train station.

Garfield walked over to Rachel and peered over her shoulder out the window, eyeballing the view she mentioned. “It’s just a big building and the road. What about at the top? You think we could see the whole city?” His curiosity began overflowing from his mind.

Rachel rolled her eyes at his joke, but didn’t comment on it. Now that he mentioned it, she was a bit hungry.

“I’m sure a place like this has room service of some kind. I doubt they’d put anything in the fridge, though,” she said. She turned from the window, skirted around Garfield, and went over to the end table where there was a phone with a list of numbers they can call.

“Maybe we can order some food and then find out,” Rachel said. She doubted the staff at the hotel would like them going to the roof, but being super powered has its perks.

On the piece of paper there were multiple numbers for food service. There was the hotel chef specials and then a bunch of nearby restaurants that deliver to the room. “Got a preference?” She asked, showing the paper to him.

Garfield continued to look out the window when Rachel moved and listened while she talked. It didn’t cross his mind that a hotel could have more than one type of food. If it was truly bourgeois then would they even have the kind of junk foods he liked?

He turned with a smile on his face when she stated that they would actually go to the top of the building. “Really?! Maybe we should get something fancy and just chill up there for a while. I think we deserve it.” He stated before returning his attention to the window.

In the distance he spotted a giant flock of some sort of bird while Rachel was on the phone. “Uhh Rae?” Garfield pointed to the now visible abundance of owls approaching the window. “I think we gonna need a bunch of bread too….”

“Why?” Rachel asked. Then she noticed the swarm of owls out the window. “Oh.”

She looked back at the end table to see if the they wrote down the chef specials. There was a small menu with what looked like Italian food. Spaghetti and meatballs, Eggplant Parmesan, lasagna, etc.

“Maybe we can order some extra breadsticks for our… neighbors.” Rachel suggested.

Garfield gave the hungry birds a thumbs up before quickly closing the curtains. He didn’t like the idea of being watched, especially by wild animals. Well them and villains that is. While Rachel ordered the breadsticks he thought about Christmas time and the fact things were nearing end of the year.

Once Rachel finished ordering the food Garfield looked over and gave a small smile. “Hey Rae, what typa stuff you like?” He asked while putting on a nice purple hoodie in case it was windy at the top of the building. Hopefully she’d let him know so he could get her a nice gift for Christmas. She did mean a lot to him after all.

Garfield nervously laughed and shrugged. “Oh y’know…Just still getting to know Rachel and stuff..hehehe…” He wasn’t the best at keeping secrets but he would certainly make this one come true even if Rachel found out.

Once the food got there Garfield quickly changed the subject “Oh look! Food’s here!” and rushed to the door. “Thanks dude I’m take it from here.” There were three trays with lids and a separate large bag of breadsticks. He walked to the window and opened it, directing the owls to the roof. “How you wanna go up?”

Rachel was confused by the question. "What stuff do I like?" She didn't understand why he was asking her that. He probably knew her more than anyone in the world, though granted it wasn't really much competition. She thought about it while they waited for their food to come, what Rachel likes.

"Uhmm, well. Most of my time is spent with books. I like calming music.... I don't know. Things to block out the noise." Before she could go on, not that she knew what else to really say, the food showed up, changing the subject.

Rachel shut the door behind the hotel attendant and followed Garfield over to the window. She looked around outside. There were still people walking down the nearby streets, but with the sun already setting and it getting dark out early due to it being the winter, she doubted anyone would look up and see them.

"There's always the easy way. Here." Rachel took the food from Garfield and lifted herself up into the air. She flew fluently through the window and followed the owls up to the roof. There was noting special about the hotel's rooftop. There was a hatch normal people probably used to get, but the rest was flat concrete. It was a shame it didn't seem to be used often because the view was just amazing, much better than the view from their hotel room.

Rachel planted her feet on the ground and took in the scenery. From there, he could see the skyline of the city, public parks, the river to the east, and all the buildings in between. The lights showed the life of the never-sleeping Metropolis. It reminded her so much of the view of Jump City from on top of Titan Tower. Suddenly, she felt a sense of homesickness, not for her little apartment, but for the tower, like never before. Maybe one day she'll go back, not to live there again, that'll probably never happen, but just to see it from a view other than the one across the water. Her vision got blurry, so she blinked her eyes a few times to push the stubborn tears that snuck out.

Garfield allowed Rachel to take the food from her and watched the familiar black surround the window, pushing itself open as she flew out and up. He personally loved seeing that happen time and time again, mainly because it amazes him each occurrence.

While Rachel went to the top, Garfield went to the closet in the room and scrounged around for a spare blanket for them to sit on. Once finding it he put it over himself and hopped out the window, turning into a decent sized harpy eagle. A few moments after Rachel had landed, the sheet floated up above them. “Ooo I’m the ghost that eats owls…” Garfield teased and the owls began panicking.

He landed on the ground as a human and took the blanket off of him, calming the birds down. It was obvious some had taken the joke but others were trying to peck at him. “Whoa easy easy!” Garfield said, spreading the blanket down on the roof, beautiful sunset behind his back. Once settled down he sat down and coaxed Rachel to sit next to him. As she sat he tore some of the bread sticks and threw the pieces to the owls as promised.

Looking at Rachel and the lit up city Garfield relaxed, crossing his legs and turning to her with only the food between them. “It’s pretty out here, huh….” He said while tossing bread to the owls every few moments. It was a moment Garfield wanted to remember for a while given the future may not be as peaceful as right now. “I wish…we could do this together more…”

Rachel tore her eyes away from the view to watch Gar terrorize the owls. She rolled her eyes at him for being his usual dorky self, but then had to hold back a laugh as the owls turned on him and pecked at his human form. The owls finally let up and he thoughtfully laid a blanket down for them to sit on. As the sun set behind his back and the birds gathering around him, for the first time in a long time Rachel felt lucky.

Accepting the invitation, Rachel sat down next to him and enjoyed the owls nibbling on the small pieces of bread. She opened her tray of spaghetti and slurped some into her mouth. One owl came up to her too, so she threw a small piece of bread.

“Yeah,” Rachel agreed, looking up again at the view. “It’s really something.” She glanced over at him, listened, and took a moment to think about what she was going to say.

“When the Titans disbanded 3 years ago, I thought it would be easy to just go back to being alone. I’ve done it before, and I’m good at it. But I was wrong. It kind of really sucked.” She took a deep breath, then smiled at him. “So thanks. Thanks for finding me and, you know, not giving up.”

Garfield never thought it was a good idea for the Titans to disband in the first place but not purely based on being alone. Of course he had been alone before the Titans and even the Doom Patrol. It was awful being on his own, an outcast from society but the real reason was the city needed them. Crime had been up yet no one believed the Titans needed to return. Even Garfield knew that made no sense.

He looked Rachel in her eyes as the genuine gratitude left her lips and couldn’t help but crack a smile. “You know….Besides Cyborg I thought about you the most Rachel…” Garfield‘a eyes got a serious glare in his eyes and looked off towards the sunset. “I always wanna know what could’ve been…” He had a small piece of his eggplant Parmesan and turned to look back at her.

“Do ya think things could be different this time?” Garfield said softly while looking at the blanket. It was a tall order in the lives of heroes to have an actual personal lives but Garfield felt he was ready. It wasn’t often he tried to talk about emotions with Rachel yet this time it felt different somehow….

Rachel blushed and rubbed her arm uncomfortably. This was not a topic she was good at. Anything having to do with emotions, really, is uncharted territory.

“I…I don’t know.” Rachel started. “I’m not any good at this.”

She looked back up at him and noticed that he was also nervous, which surprised her. She shakingly put her hand on his arm, afraid but sure. “I thought about you too. I know I’m no Cyborg,” She grinned. “But I think it can be different this time. We can try.”

Garfield let out a sigh of relief before flopping on his back and laying down next to Rachel, neglecting his food momentarily to enjoy the moment of relief from the feelings that had been building over the few weeks since they had reunited.

Looking up at the sky he took note of the purple-orange colors that danced together while the sun retreated deeper and deeper beyond the horizon. “Y’know I been wanting to say that for a while.” He thought of before when he often hit on Rachel and she rejected him but yet this time something changed. Garfield had the feeling that if it was something they weren’t agreeing on, he could quite literally lose Rachel forever, something he never considered when they were Titans. Maybe that’s why now he was so nervous.

“So…” Garfield sat up with a mischievous smile. “Does that mean that we are…you know?” He was aware of the circumstances but he wanted to hear Rachel say it while he tossed more bread to the owls.

Rachel looked away and rubbed her face, trying to wipe away the blush while Garfield was laying back and not paying attention. When she turned back around and picked up her food again, her default dead-pan was back in place.

She concentrated hard on her food as he asked the dreaded question. “Ugh, titles.” Rachel twirled spaghetti around her fork as if she was solving for pi. “I don’t get the point of titles…. But yeah… I guess we are… that.” She shoved the spaghetti in her mouth and chewed furiously. As she swallowed, she noticed he was way to happy over there.

She glared at him. “Don’t get too excited. I still don’t think you’re funny. This changes nothing.”

Of course Garfield was excited for a mutual exchange of feelings between the two, though it was more him explaining things and Rachel agreeing but he wouldn’t complain given her situation with emotions. Unfortunately he was a little too excited and paced himself incorrectly when throwing bread to the owls, running out much sooner than expected and they quickly flew off.

“Aw man..” His attention returned to Rachel and their food and he sat up. Garfield defensively raised his hands palms towards Rachel to signify his cooperation with her statement. “You’re totally right, buuuut…” He took a giant bite of food and looked Rachel in her eyes after swallowing. “I bet I could make you laugh.” Garfield wagered without hesitation.

Rachel raised an eyebrow at him. “You’ll lose that bet, Ninja Turtle,” she said with a grin.

With the owl flying away and the sun gone from the sky, the night sky was all that was left. Rachel finished her food and took a moment to appreciate the stars. Even through the tall buildings and bright lights of the city, they still shone bright in the sky. A chill in the night wind made her shiver, a reminder that it was the winter season.

“We should head back in,” she said. “It’s getting chilly out here.”

Garfield chuckled and exclaimed. “Ha! See? I already got ya smiling.” He pointed out while the sky above them slowly turned to a dark purple, reminds me him of Rachel somehow. It didn’t take him long to remember that amongst the emotional progression between the two, there was food right in front of them. Of course the eggplant parmesan was delicious, which he hadn’t tried before, yet the icing on the cake was the sauce.

Garfield rubbed his stomach and leaned back letting out a belch that would’ve scared away the owls had they not left from the absence of food. “ ‘Scuse me.” He chuckled as he rolled to his side and hopping to his feet. “Y’know that was pretty good for some fancy food.” He walked towards the edge of the building, prepared to leave the mess they made in its place.

Rachel started cleaning up her tray when she noticed Garfield wasn’t doing the same and was in fact leaving the mess. She thought about scolding him, but the tray in her hand gave her another idea.

Garfield had said he was missing Cyborg, so what better way to help ease that pain by some silly prank? Rachel was no prankster, but throwing food was many times involved in the prank war.

“Hey, you forgot something.” She called out before aiming and throwing the tray at him.

Garfield looked down and forgot how high up they were and took a step back to regain his senses. For some reason the top of Titan tower felt much safer when he was looking down on everything in comparison from up here. While his thoughts ran rampant, Rachel called out to him and he turned. “Huh?”

Luckily even if Garfield was clumsy and reckless, he was in turn a hero, a durable one at that. The tray splattered on his face like a pie pan only with marinara sauce instead of whipped cream. He wiped his eyes and locked the sauce of his fingers. “Oh you’re so gonna regret that magic lady.” Garfield rolled towards the food and turned into an octopus, grabbing three plates at once and rapid fire hurled them towards Rachel. “You can’t beat me at making a mess Rae!”

Rachel quickly realized her mistake when the giant green octopus lunges towards the food. “Oops.”

She backed up and shielded her front from the flying food splatter. Against 8 tentacles, though, cracks were found in her defense. Along the side of her shield and eggplant flew and smacked her right across the face, leaving a smear on her cheek.

“With the mess you always left in the kitchen, I thought you’d be better at this.” Rachel dropped her shield and levitated the fallen food hurled by the octopus in the air. Pushing her hand forward, the mess shot back in the direction of the Octopus.

Garfield watched as the annoying black barriers rose to deflect nearly all of his food bombardment and finally realized what a villain normally went through when fighting Rachel. “That’s so cheating!” The green cephalopod yelled out while the food around him ran out.

When he watched her begin to levitate the food Garfield smiled and shook his bulbous head. “Yeah and I thought with all your book reading you’d be smart enough not to mess with me like this.” He rebuttaled, morphing into an elephant and letting the food hit his broad side. As Rachel ran out of ammo the elephant scraped the food off of his side with his trunk and started flinging it up at the sky, arching it in hops to not only hit Rachel but to distract her as well.

Garfield watched Rachel’s focus leave him and changed back into himself, darting towards his frenemy and tackling her onto the blanket as the food rained down and missed them completely. He laughed as they both laid their before rolling over onto his back, sighing in content. “Those shields are so not fair.” Garfield said, trying to regain his breath.
