Epiphany Epiphany - That was really good. :D Bringing a history to our opponent definitely gives it more of a feeling of importance. Should be interesting to see what this leads to.

Aw, thanks! I liked the notion of the monster still being a monster but not a wholly unsympathetic one.

Also, I clearly enjoy torturing my protagonists.

So, this is going to be a 'big' battle I'm guessing... any ideas how we're going to approach it? Cassie ( Epiphany Epiphany ) could have some insight on how to kill it, but I think it'd be best if we had more than hack 'n slash while the brainbirds do their sprinkly shiz.

Gonna wait for frakncheese frakncheese , Aimless Vagabond Aimless Vagabond and ShadTheWerepire ShadTheWerepire to post before my next one, but I'll also wait for WlfSamurai WlfSamurai (and anyone else that wants to post) so that we can establish what we're going to do.

I... uh... don't know. I've got some mouth-watering ideas for later encounters though. XD

Could be some personal difficulty with some of the characters, like big boss-monster starts losing, and starts 'speaking' through many of the people it has ... consumed(?) / taken, begging us not to kill them - for if beastie dies, so do they (even though they're probably stuffed already when it comes to being 'healed').

Could possibly take over the mind of one of the characters also.

A recurring threat is a fun idea that I've never seen done effectively in an RP before. So I'm game for that if that's more fun. I had some vague notion of the Hunger eventually grappling with Cassie and her using her wizardry to undo Ivers' spell on the creature, after awkwardly fumbling through a few different variations. I'd also had some notion that perhaps it consumes her elven lifespan, but her recent magic with Ash gives her a tie to a human's life and so she lives as long as Ash lives. ;)

Whatever's fun for you guys, though. Certainly hacking down its minions resulting in escalation from the Hunger feels fitting. In theory, Cassie's occupying enough of its mental attention that mind invasion is unlikely but if someone wants to volunteer, go for it!

I agree with the second point (but still threw the idea out anyway). Given the assault from Cassie and Amelie, it's not really in any position to focus on another.

I'll agree with the recurring threat, though with Ivers' being said threat... I would agree, but only to him being a recurring 'secondary' threat. In that the players may face him from time to time, and as part of Cassie's arc, actively be involved in completely destroying him; but he being a main antagonist for an extended period of time leaves little motivation for other characters to be involved (except perhaps Elias and Tanner, but I'm pretty sure they're no longer part of the RP ;-; ).

e.g. Anna and Amelie are in Glewick because of their personal matter, and of course a destroyed city is an event of interest - but they certainly wouldn't go out of their way to pursue the matter, it just so happened that they were there anyway.

Wackadoodle0987 Wackadoodle0987 / Epiphany Epiphany the main threat can be a darkness (not to be cliché) that is trying to consume the world. Ivers / Hunger can be part of that and play into the larger story. That way you have a secondary threats that important to the story, but also aren't "fillers" - they lead to the main threat. Perhaps the Elders? There's been talk about that, but what exactly do we want the Elders to be?

I also expect Ash to learn a thing or two from Ivers / Hunger and whatever we decide we want it to be since she's knowledgeable. She won't waste the opportunity to learn about the magic behind it.

Regardless, I love where you're going with this and the ideas! :D

I have quite big plans for the Elders (assuming WlfSamurai WlfSamurai is okay with them) regarding Anna and Amelie's personal arc (mostly Amelie). As vampires and their history, they've got significant ties (historically) to the Elders, and so I'm having that be part of their story. I imagine the Elders to be humanoid, having created Vampires and the lesser races in their image (Humans, Elves, Orcs and whatever other sentient and complex humanoid life there is).

I'd imagine something along the lines of Divinity's Eternals or Warframe's Orokin etc. - not quite like Tolkien's Valar/Ainur. Powerful beings, but not the be all and end all of the universe (though that role technically goes to Eru).

XD I'm getting myself all worked up and emotional over my plans for the end of the Sisters' story... I think I should've gone to bed earlier.

Wackadoodle0987 Wackadoodle0987 After reading everyone's CS I always like to write a character impression of them. For Ash's impressions of the vampires I have: 'Ash doesn't like them'.

They have a lot of similarities- especially with strong personalities, but I can see Ash abiding Annalisa over Amelie. Ash has respect for power, but less so for magic (which will be revealed in her backstory). But because Annalisa is also a duellist, their relationship would be fragile with constant comparisons and nit-picking, but I can see them growing into a powerhouse duo, not dissimilar from Elias and Ash.

Now about the magic bit, (a little spoiler-y but eh), Ash has deciphered exactly what magic is, where it comes from and how it's made- and it will be revealed further down the line, but it plays into Ash's dislike for Cassandra (maybe 'tolerance' is a better word haha i love my slow-burn gfs) and her eventual dislike for Amelie. She holds fast to her faith and in her mind Cassandra has broken one of the laws of magic by binding them together and Amelie- though she hasn't done """anything""" yet- is seen as threat to the world. Amelie is a powerful witch and powerful people always want more. Yes, Annalisa is going to 100% rub Ash the wrong way, but at least Annalisa is not a threat that can level a city whereas Amelie is.

Another thing about Ash and the sisters- Ash doesn't go out of her way to be unkind. The sisters? They'll walk over your body to tea. :hornskiss:

You're totally right. XD Well, about Amelie. She wasn't always so cruel, but it's gotten to the point where she's rather desperate, and she vents her emotions through action. Anna is literally Amelie's only anchor, and their relationship is very strained, so at the moment Amelie is rather unpredictable - she's quite childish in this regard.

Anna is not unkind. In fact, I like to think of Anna as a wholly good individual - however, she is also very, very old - at this point she no longer sees much value in the lives of humans whom are so fleeting. Instead her focus is on the future, and Amelie. Anna is honourable, not deliberately cruel, never goes out of her way to hurt others and when pressed, will help others.

As you'll learn through the progress of the RP, Amelie and Anna have changed A LOT over the ages they've lived (most prominently Amelie) - and mostly for the worse. I imagine Ash will grow to hate Amelie, but I could imagine her and Anna getting along... possibly.

EDIT :: Don't get me wrong, Amelie has a 'nice' side - but it will be very rare that you catch a glimpse of it. It's mostly reserved for Anna, or when I do a post set in their past, but it's hiding there somewhere. Also, you'll notice that when there's a prominent enemy (such as Ivers) Amelie is far less unkind - she has all her attention on him, and having something 'evil' to lash out at means less cruelty towards innocents.

Wow, Annalise is literally Ash's mirror. The exact same as her, but different in how they value human lives. I love it. ^_^

I think you'll like Ash's backstory and I can see a lot of places the sisters could play off of in it!

I've actually been waiting for the update. ;-; Especially can't wait now. :D

I agree. I've been getting withdrawal symptoms, and have just started writing scene after scene after scene for the future. Gotta get me my RP fix.

Okay, so. Let's see. Let's start with threats.

I don't plan or plot. That's not my style. That said, I often have vague ideas and constantly churn RPs in my mind. In this case, an idea that I had semi-consciously been building toward is that the world is very sick and dying. Whether or not you want to do something about that is up to you. Something has changed. Drastically. And it's spreading. I think these "Elders" are a perfect to fit that. However many there are, their influence is spreading and changing everything. I'm sure they'd have their reasons and I'm sure there's some inciting action that caused all that.

I like the idea that this Hunger, as we're calling it, is a symptom of the far greater problem. And only a taste of what the Elders can/will do.

Those are just some threats thoughts.

Now, the situation at hand. I'm not entirely sure how to guide it, which probably means I shouldn't. I trust you guys and love the ideas that I'm seeing thus far. There are two facts that need to be included and one optional color piece:
  1. Ultimately, you guys win. This is a part of the story after fighting hard to get here that you beat this thing—or at least best it.
  2. It has to cost something and the cost has to be irreparable. I don't mean physical or hampering your character in any way. But I mean change in some or all the characters. Something changes that can't be changed back. It doesn't have to be big.
  3. The world is dying. Whatever power or influence is beyond Hunger, it's corrupting everything. Feel free to use this as color and included visions or feelings or whatever to show us that.
Okay, let me get a quick post up to get it rolling and you guys have at it.

WlfSamurai WlfSamurai I have had an idea.

It involves, towards the end of the battle, Amelie absorbing the darkness within herself to contain it - as perhaps destroying it seems beyond them (though in fact it is not). I have some really good ideas for why I want this to happen so, assuming you and the others accept it, I'd quite like for that to be how the battle ends.

Now, doing so will be at extreme cost to Amelie. Self-control will be at an all-time low, she will sometimes lose herself to it. She will, in general, be slightly different, which will become more and more prominent as the darkness becomes more and more a part of her own character.

Most importantly though is what I plan for her later on (which concerns her and Anna mostly so no spoilers! It isn't a significant part of the main story).

Is this okay with you guys?
