Other Background noise when you write or no?

I am usually listening to music when writing. Usually something fitting for the response I am typing lol.

I love to listen to music, or have a exploration YouTube video playing. I tend to have something on like ghost exploring videos when I read as well just something about hearing people walk around and get scared adds something to the piece you're reading...

I usually like listening to music, anime openings or something, but I can work well in silence too. The only thing I can't stand is writing when people are talking, or screaming. Also, only music, I can't work with a YouTube video or a T.V. show or something like that, I feel like I should be concentrated on one thing or the other.

I absolutely love having music in the background. It definitely helps my muse whenever I need to find inspiration or be motivated to write a post. Plus, sometimes the songs that I am playing reminds me of my character and it helps me get into the mindset of said character! At the same time, whenever I get in the 'zone', I tend to unconsciously block out the music and just write and write until I finish my train of thoughts.

I find that I do both. If I'm really into whatever I'm writing and I can't concentrate with background noise, I work in relative silence. Relative mostly due to a noisy refrigerator and air system in the house.

Generally I can't do silence unless I'm distracted or it's shortly after I've gotten up and the radio's been on for a while. If I do have music playing, it'll most likely be a single instrumental song or the song that had inspired the thought looping at a low level. If I do have background noise going, it'll always be music when I'm writing low enough not to derail my thoughts. If I'm drawing, it'll be audible and not always music. Sometimes I'll put on let's plays of horror games or a series someone did of a specific game with friends and listen to that. I do it with movies and tv shows from time to time but those have to be things I've watched frequently enough that I don't get caught up just watching it because the audio is enough.

Always, always.

Complete and utter silence absolutely frightens me, so I try to keep some kind of noise happening when I write. It's usually music with a background of a rainstorm or some exotic beach (Thanks, YouTube!) or some place with cricket noises.

Only if it's post-rock / music in a foreign language I don't understand. Doesn't it make it harder to focus otherwise? I get a bit paranoid I might end up subconsciously writing song lyrics into whatever I'm writing.

I often write stories set in the last 100 years so I try to listen to music from that time period amen langauage to get my mind into character

Personally it depends for me. Sometimes if I'm writing a really descriptive scene it will distract me from writing. Other times it helps when I have a writer's block.

It's not background noise, per se, but I tend to watch TV or anime while I'm writing. It helps to have something else fictional going on while writing my own fiction, if that makes sense? Sometimes I don't need it, but other times I really need that Todd Haberkorn to get me through writing up a post for something XD

Yeah, while I write I like to have ambiance music. Just sounds, no words. The subreddit /r/spacemusic used to have an online player that played all the posts on the sub, but I think it's no longer around. Echoes of Blue is usually my goto now.

When I start seriously writing I lose track of time and become absorbed in whatever I'm doing so it doesn't really affect me either way

I personally need some type of background noise. Maybe some of my favorite songs playing softly to get me pumped or something to set the mood for what I’m writing.

Never, it’s too distracting while I’m trying to write. But, I always draw with music, which is weird.

For me it depends. When I write a story, I do like something in the back like a TV. I'm actually surprised that I do. For roleplaying replies, though, for some reason it has to be quieter. I have no idea why, but it just sometimes messes me up. Pretty weird in my opinion. I used to listen to music BEFORE I write, but for some reason that just made my stories not so good.

Instrumental only. Usually go for jazz or trip hop. The album Ki-Oku by DJ Krush and Toshinori Kondo really gets my juices going.

A weird combination of the two actually XD I like to sit in a quiet room because I'm easily distracted, but I also put on the soundtrack for Ori and the Blind Forest because it helps me get into the flow of writing better.
