Background image, maybe?

I think it would be really cool to be able to set images as post backgrounds, in addition to the simple flat colors. Would that be possible? Or would it take up too much... space? If that's the term. Not too knowledgeable on techie stuff.

It is possible to make a BBCode for image backgrounds, but I see one potential problem with this. Whenever a user inserts an image into their post that exceeds the dimensions of the forums, it is automatically scaled down, and made clickable to be viewed at a larger scale.

I spoke with Wizard a long, long, time ago about this, and it's not a feature that he can control.

If the same thing were to happen with image backgrounds, I can see things becoming very messy for people who try to put images over images and for people who want to use links.

I am not positive that this is how it works, but I can definitely see it becoming an issue. Another less complicated issue would be site loading times. An image is an image. If people start using large images as backgrounds, I predict MAJOR lag for a lot of people and poor users on mobile devices. Especially if someone decides to use a gif.

Otherwise, I really do like the idea, it just might be complicated. :P

Oh god, then nevermind then. I usually use RPN in my phone lol

If you truly wanted an image background drop, then you'd have to do that in an external program, translate it unto the internet, and then use it that way- not really worth it, sadly.
