Azae - A World At War - Out of Character Chat

Dania will be looking for the remnants of the Black Talons, which would probably point her toward either Roadalia or Indoria, but yea she can start in Libertia.
I could start in Libertia and offer you passage to Roadalia of Indoria. You would have to do a little work to pay passage. No hardcore pillaging or anything.

Working on a CS still.. Work and life is very selfish.. Hope to get it done in a couple of days if not tomorrow

I think I'll start at a port in Roadalia, or Libertia. Probably start in a tavern where others are meeting. Then I'll make my way back to Yensha, trading in Indoria along the way. I'll try to meet up with as many people along the way.
Maybe I can start with a smuggling trip to Roadalia. After that my crew could spread some psycho Queen of Hearts rumors.
Sounds pretty good. He could be a connecting character between everyone.

Take your time. I'm going to finish my own CS today and then I'll start working on the first IC post but I doubt I get it done today. Probably more like tomorrow or maybe even the day after. I do plan on it being quite long.

CHARACTER SHEET

Name: Vyran - “Un-birthed”

Title: Var'Qo Zaat - “White-Faced Shadow”

Race: Nomasdae

Age: 28

Weapon of Choice: Graku Di - “Dual sickle & chain”

(Sickle attached to a type of metal chain with a heavy iron weight at the end.)

Personality: Quiet, ambitious, inquisitive & cunning.

Background:

He was brought into the world of the living under a different and unfortunate circumstance. It was the prowlers of Falcon's Haven who'd first came across the slain Nomasdae woman, located south from the Capitol, who was believed to be out looking for her missing husband. The warriors were shocked to find a young Tral-el feasting on the poor soul's body still. More so when they both spotted a fresh foetus dangling from the corner of the beast's mouth by its own umbilical cord. After they'd successfully chased the creature away, they thought of giving the two bodies a proper burial. Only to discover the premature child, alive. They took him back to the Capitol then.

The orphan grew up under the care of a solitary blind crone. She alone was willing to accept him when others have refused. An abomination, they claimed him to be. A curse! The damned! They called him, the “Un-birthed One”; Vyran!

As soon as Vyran started walking, he'd wandered off by himself unto the streets and markets. Shunned by his own people, he became lost and was turned into a stray child. Stealing and robbing with the other kids who shared his fate became their way of living. By six years of age, he was so good at what he did that he got recruited into an unknown organisation. One which specialised in delivering goods, messages and in acquiring confidential information without being noticed.

The tutors themselves had their faces covered.

Vyran was trained to move quickly and stealthily without making any noise. To negotiate his way through the dark. Even to fight and defend himself without the help of his eyes. He was made to run, fight and even sleep on a narrow beam, simulating the spine of a roof. Forced to scale walls and structures without ropes. Punishment for every mistakes made during training was harsh. While some lessons by itself could clearly mean the end of them if not crippled them.

He was taught to read, write and understand several different languages. Trained to remember every little details of his surroundings, conversations, clients and targets. Practised religiously on the necessary steps and precautions to avoid both detection and capture!

“Getting caught is as good as dead!” The warning rang in his ears.

Four years later, despite of the constant warning at the back of his head, Vyran got careless and was ambushed by an unknown assailant. He was caught and was sentenced to be executed in an arena. There, he was left on his own to fend for himself.

Vyran adapted the gladiatorial methods of fighting then. He wielded various types of weapons and had also learnt, in the most unlikely of places and by a former military Captain, Josh Havvi, the arts of warfare. When he's not training or fighting for his life, Vyran would spend his time playing stone chess with the ex-soldier, as well as revising the techniques and tactics used in past battles and skirmishes. He survived for another three more years. Even when matched against some of the ferocious beasts found in the north, the boy made it through.

At fourteen, he was given the pardon by a Kildran nobleman who was impressed by the boy's display and stone-cold attitude. Vyran decided to return to the organisation immediately upon released. He received a severe punishment —twenty one lashes across his back— for his failure before he could further his training. Vyran then learnt the art of deception. He was taught to blend in with the surroundings and to be under the disguise of various characteristics and personality.

Upon “graduation”, Vyran was awarded with the Graku.

Two years later, he was assigned to his first “real” job. Having complete freedom in executing his task, Vyran decided to make his own mark here. His first target was a ship's Captain, Silver Patch, who also happened to be a smuggler of slaves. In the cover of night, Vyran snuck onboard and successfully assassinated the Captain without a fuss. He skinned the smuggler's face off before decapitating the body whereby he then placed the head on a spike at the ship's bow. Finally, he finished the trophy off by adorning it with a black cloak, giving the impression of a faceless someone standing in front of the vessel.

From that day onwards, on certain occasions, he would wear a skull mask and a black hood. That's when he was given the title, Var'Qo Zaat.

Both Var'Qo Zaat and the final state of his target were feared. People weren't sure if what they'd set their eyes upon was a corpse or the real thing. Though none have ever witnessed Var'Qo Zaat killing anyone, a handful of contacts did catch sight of the assassin during one of their “package exchange” or during an emergency meeting. Due to the lack of evidence and concrete fact, rumours of the assassin were only spread through whispers.

Soon, there have been many sightings of the “White-Faced Shadow” throughout Azae. Many thought he was a phantom, or the ghost of an ancient Nomasdae who returned to haunt the slavers. For there was no way he could have appeared in more than one places at the same time. Unbeknownst to those outside the organisation, Vyran have been promoted and was assigned with a number of apprentices under him. All of them took up on Var'Qo Zaat's image and carried out their task proficiently.

Description: Vyran stood at about 6 foot tall with raven black unkempt hair, hazel brown eyes and tanned skin tone. During combat, he would have his Graku in both hands with the chains usually wrapped around his forearms, otherwise, the weapons will be on his back.

Ahh, I'm so proud. You read the History! And I'm hard at work on the first IC post. I'm about 6-7 paragraphs in, but be prepared, it's going to be pretty long. When I get it finished everyone can beginning working on/posting their first posts until everyone gets one in. I don't think I'll get finished today though. I'll try. I have to go edit in everyone's hard work on lore right now first.

Updates:

- @noremac 's character Adam Durant now has a reference picture in his description. Check it out!
