Maihra Melody
Shadow of a Hero
Capital Falhades, Midaheim Forest Exultius

The group's travel through the castle had not gone entirely unnoticed after all. Her opening performance in a small concert had just finalized elsewhere in the castle as the cohort departed the room and moved to leave the castle, and the noble bestiard did not immediately leave herself. She instead wandered some of the familiar corridors, reminiscing, and investigating. The princess's anger at her brother's death was not a secret to many, and for a long time now Maihra has expected that sooner or later, Solara would take action, she was too strong willed and good intentioned not to. Whatever scant guards if any that saw her, paid her little mind. To the younger ones, many knew her as a childhood friend, classmate, or even sparring partner. The older ones respected and remembered her father. And, with her fine dress and well groomed appearance, any who genuinely didn't know her would likely assume she was nobility anyway.

Already, rumors of the Princess acting strangely in the past few days had reached her keen and ever listening ears, and it was only a matter of time before she traversed to the room of the heiress. She did not enter, of course, but she had no need to, she confirmed her suspicions from outside. Ink, a fair amount of it, likely largely disturbed. The smell lingered in the air, one Maihra was well familiar with, surrounded by nothing but it for hours at a time as she wrote countless pages of sheet music, only to dispose of the vast majority before ever playing them. Unless Solara had taken an interest in writing, whether that be books or music, there was one thought that came clearly to mind, especially with the under note of wax she identified. Letters, a large number of them, almost certainly sealed considering the wax. Maihra's senses were sharp even for a bestiard, and so, with a polite and empty smile, she continued.

She recalled several of her interactions with Solara some five years ago. She had noticed the young princess seemed to have a fondness for a specific servant, one she tended to call on whenever she wished for something she believed important, or in the occasional time she had gotten herself into trouble, when she needed discretion. While making contact with or even searching out Solara in the past week proved impossible, the servant, she did find. And but a short time ago, she had seen him with several letters in hand, walking with a subtle urgency in his step uncharacteristic of any mundane task. Unless they had changed how the servants are assigned duties in her absence, she also knew where to find him at this hour. Keeping a watch near the eastern balcony, normally watches were done in pairs, at least back while she spent many of her days here, the eastern balcony oversaw a rarely used and frankly mostly forgotten section of the Castle's yard, leading into the forest. Few nobles desired the view, and instead, much of that nearby section of the castle was dedicated to servant's quarters. This meant that this station was the one most likely for a servant to leave with little to no consequence. And if one promised to vouch for the other and cover their post, it would be trivial to become the only person keeping tabs on the area.

Another person may have gone to the eastern balcony to confirm their suspicions. Maihra felt no need, in the worst case scenario, the field was empty, and she wasted a few minutes. Thus she walked the same hallways the group previously had only minutes after them. The indistinct sounds of conversation she was too far to make out perked her ears and caused her tail to sway with mild excitement before she laid eyes on the carriage and entered the moonlit field. It may as well have been midday, for all it mattered to her eyes. She began to approach, smiling. Her posture and stance was friendly, but she prepared herself to avoid an arrow or bolt if need be. She could not see into the carriage, but she had a good guess on at least one of its occupants. Despite her following words, it was plenty possible the princess had forgotten the Bestiard, they directly interacted scantly, they simply were often both present at the same events, perhaps her family name would be more familiar due to the talk of her father's heroics and mother's tragic death.

"Solara I presume? It's been a few years, how have they treated you?"
