AWHY IC

Walking back to where his 'friend' was Augus would lose sight of him in the crowds, after a while of looking he would reluctantly give up on te search. On hearing the Ringing of the bell he would head in that direction, wondering what the ringing is for, finding himself at the stage where the mayor was listening with intrigue to what the man said before seeing the flame engulf the stage with such ferocity to then see the beast behind the flames, summoning his Sitar he would begin to run to the stage playing his Sitar with the magic beginning to stir as he starting playing Più Forte, before launching himself onto the stage to hit the beast with a roundhouse kick to the side of its face.

Alexis was happy to have returned a mechanical bird to its owner, even if said owner didn't say a word in response. Eh, she was having fun so far, so she wasn't going to let a small annoyance drag her down. She noticed that the crowd was moving towards a stage a little further down the street. She was glad she could hear the announcement from where her stall was set up, she didn't want to have to leave her stuff behind so she could participate.

The men who were the center of attention began to read the town's fortune, only to be interrupted by what looked to be a monster of some kind. Giving herself little time to react, Alexis grabbed a nearby weapon - A crossbow, as it turned out. It was thankfully already loaded, as she was about to demonstrate its capability to an interested buyer just moments before - and aimed at the beast, firing the one bolt at it before setting the crossbow aside and grabbing a longsword on display, since reloading the crossbow again would take too much time. And there was no doubt that bolt only made it pissed.

That, or miss. She really hoped it didn't miss.

Bells rang, and Catherine's smile grew wider. Good, more attention diverted from her activities. This was going a lot more smoothly than she'd ever hoped. She'd have to make a round back to Alexis' cart, though. Hopefully she didn't set it up somewhere in the middle of a crowd.

Of course, chances were that's exactly what she did. And it would inconvenience her to no end.

She didn't have time to find out, though, as soon after the bell rang and a few distant voices were heard, smoke began to rise from the festival area. As much as Catherine wished she could just ignore it and take off with her loot, she couldn't. Something obviously had happened, and no doubt Alexis would be right in the middle of it. That idiot. With this in mind, Catherine took off towards where the smoke was coming from.

Beryll had happily turned over a few coins for a few festival foods, and had shared them with her two companions. They had been heading for the main stage, when it had erupted into flames. Luckily, Artur had chosen to stay aloft, disliking the crush of people and enjoying the smell of the city. Through Artur, she could see what had stepped out of the emblazed platform.

"It is some sort of quadripedal fire beast." she said aloud for those near her. 'I could cast Sleep, but I do not think it will hold.' she thought to herself. Besides that, there was another issue.

She grabbed her last gumfoot potion and handed it to Marigold. "This should slow the beast, toss the bottle if you must." She turned from them and began pushing against the mob of people fleeing the scene to get behind the monstrous creature. While Sleep would not work on a beast of that size, it would work on whomever had summoned it forth.

Gwenan drew her hammer at the beasts roar as she looked toward the stage. Surprisingly, that 'Djinn' was already up there. Her eyes widened as they fell upon the creature that he was engaged with.

"Great Being Fael what have you birthed!"
she seemed to yell at no one in particular.

Quickly, she looked at Beryll and Merigold "If both of you are decent at ranged magics I recommend you stick to them, unless either of you wants to follow me. We must get these people out of here safely, that is the number one priority!" She tired her best to seem to much like a captain toward the girls.

She sprinted toward the staged area just in time to have a part of it start to fall onto the crowd gathered underneath. Gwenan used all her leg's muscles to propel herself towards the debris and swat it away from the crowd with a mighty swing of her white hammer.

"Citizens!" She cried out to try and get their attention as best as she could "Please flee if you cannot fight this beast, for the sake of your lives and your children. If you can fight, then show this beast what it means to attack you on your own land!" as uncomfortable as it was making her to give a sort of rally cry, this was the best chance that she had to use numbers against this beast, because surely the Djinn, her comrades and herself could not defeat this creature alone.

Bak'non & Shiva

Bak'non and his companion tried their best to bob and weave through the crowd, but there was just too much input for him to fully comprehend what was going on. As a person used to the rhythmic pace of the ents, he could not imagine living in a human settlement. There was just too much going on with just the auditory input alone. Iwantoneofthosemommywhatwouldyoulikedearohmygodthatssofunnyhunnyjamesyouidiot! Bak'non, overwhelmed by the sounds around him, was brought to the side by a pair of concerned citizens. Albert didn't sense any malice from them, but he pulled himself away half way through and allowed Shiva to guide him out of the way. He pressed his back against a wall and let his fingers run into the grass beneath him. Its rythm soothed the elderly man's mind and drowned out the voice around him. That is, until it began to panic.

Fire

He focused on the weeds and the insects through the city, leading him to the commotion not to far from where he was. He moved with urgency not because of the murderous humans, but because the only thing worse than a human was fire.

Clancy & Isbel

Isbel smiled warmly cradling the mechanical owl to her chest. "I'll be darned if Clancy tries to get rid of you after that."

Hearing her comment, the young man scowled moving away from his post to confront her. "Give me that." Isbel slapped his hands away narrowing her eyes coldly. "Touch it and you'll be puking animated toy soldiers for a week."

He took a large step back grumbling angrily, but Isbel didn't as her mood quickly swapped back to its peppy default.

"Come on, let's go see the fortune telling," Isbel grabbed his arm with one hand, the other still holding the owl to her chest, and dragged her friend to the center of the festival...

"This town's fortune is..." They began only to be interrupted by a loud booming voice. "FIRE."

"Well that's unfortunate," The Arcane young woman murmured starin. curiously at the beast before them. "Do you think that's a demon; I've never seen a demon in person?"

"Isbel!" "What?" She looked over blankly into Clancy's incredulous face before taking much more interest in the staff in his hands. "Why do you have that?" She pointled at the stick. He let out a groan. "Seriously!? The town has not only just been threatened, but is being attacked, and you ask me why I have my staff out?"

Her expression remained unchanged...

"To FIGHT the BAD GUY, Isbel!" "And you're going to you that?" The implication behind her words finally began to register and he sputtered dramatically. "O- of course not!"

"Okay."

He ruffled his hair in frustration at the fact that this conversation was getting them no where.

"Look, can you just assist in taking that guy down, and act more like you belong her- "But I don't belong here..." "Isbel," He warned.

"Of course, Clancy." She replied sitting the little owl down gently and charging her hands up with energy. The two jogged up to where the beast stood. Just as Clancy was going to jump into the fight, Isbel's voice cut into his focus. "How do we know that this guy's actually bad? He potentially could just be misunderstood."

"Misunderstood or not, he just attack a festival full of unarmed citizens, and now he's going to pay for his actions."

Magala was just passing through, minding his business, planning to steal the soul of some poor wizard or something along those lines until the hordes of the damned seemed to be birthed from nowhere. That alone made him think that someone put something in his pipe for karmatic revenge, but either way, he shook his head in disgust. This slaughter was too pathetic, going against civilians and a few stupid heroes? He quickly ducked into the action, leaping straight to the side of the weapon wielding fools. He took a puff from his pipe, blowing out smoke with strange, opaque petals trailed inside. The best part of this was all the magic he could reap from this encounter, as long as he could get someone to surrender their magic to him, he will have enough to claim one of these nutjobs for himself. Or should he be moe subtle? There were a lot of these fools around here, and they were likely to stab him, quite literally, through the back at any sign of danger.

Well, guess he was stuck helping all these fools. He better gain a slave or two from this. He took out his pipe and started to scream like he was shot through the funny bone. He walked forward slowly, letting the purple smoke from his pipe concentrate... and form sparks of electricity through the dark cloud. Magala gave off his most creepy smile, one of his eyes shining blood red as his illusions were given life. Blobs of shadow flew out from the child, impaling the Earth and trying to drag the beast into the floor. More of them began racing around, trying to cut off and scare the fortune teller from any possible escape... if he didn't know the truth at least...

While bolstering the crowd into this fight Gwenan saw the small child like creature appear onto the stage. She had never seen it before, but she could feel how evil it was to it's core. And from her view it looked like it was giving power to the creature that Fael birthed from seemingly nothing.

Instinctually, Gwenan looked for an opening and made the tackle on his blind side. Her shoulder collided with the creature with such force that her armor rang through the streets like a bell on worship day. They both tumbled off the ruined stage. Gwenan pinned it's small frame to the stones beneath them. She grasps it's arms to immobilize it further as holy magic burned through her hands and onto the creature.

"IT IS YOU!" She hissed loudly

"A creature this dark and evil has to be the culprit of this madness! You must have angered or hurt Fael themself for such a creature to appear! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE! CONFESS!" Gwenan tightened her grip on the creatures arms.

Marigold Grail

Marigold started to panic as the beast rose out of the flames, even more so when Beryl had given her a potion of some kind for her to use if she needed it. She hadn't done any actual combat during her training, they had just taught her the spells needed then moved on. She started to shy away, she desperately wanted to run away from that fire beast. She gripped her staff and she started to back away slowly, not wanting to grab any attention. She had to run away, she didn't want to die yet! With a tiny squeak Marigold ran away to the nearest building and hid behind it, curled up in a defensive state as she trembled. This wasn't a fight for her to get involved in.

Ashenbeast

The Ashenbeast, a feral creature born from flames, ashes of the fallen, and the boiling blood of those that seek vengeance, surveyed the field when it appeared. It's face scrunched up with a snarl as it was bombarded with hits and magics. A chilling rumble started to emanate from it as it recovered, making its ire known to those present. Suddenly it reared up and slammed its forepaws down onto the earth. Its scales lit alight with hazy flames as it leaped a great height above its attackers and landed beyond them. It seems that their attacks, while angering it, did not distract it enough from what it was supposed to do. Fire trailed behind it as it ran for the escaping crowd, claws readied to strike down the innocent when it reached them.

As the beast began to run Augus would keep up with it thanks to Piu and Forte being in effect, but seeing that the kick did not do much he would add Acciaccatura to the compilation of music causing the beast's body to resonate making its body start to tear itself asunder. As it moved through the innocent people Augus would be darting between the beast and people using himself to deflect the beast, it might hurt but thanks to the strengthened Forte lessened the blows to something that can be mitigated rather easily, moving through the city he would be trying to steer the beast via kicking or anything really in an attempt to get this thing somewhere that they might fight without the likelihood of people getting hurt, what is this beast? And what is it after? It looks like it has a purpose but what? Augus thought as he continues to move with the beast hoping that what he was causing damage to, trying to get this over with before more people got hurt.

Beryll, now at the burning stage, started searching around. She had various small bruises from where others had shoved past her a little too enthusiastically, but was otherwise unharmed. She searched the crowd and the stage, looking for any sort of suspicious activity or some remnant of a summoning circle.

Well, the bolt didn't do a whole lot. That was about what she expected, seeing how well armored the creature was. Now it's heading in her direction. Alexis stood in its path, ready to face the beast head-on. She held her sword in front of her, prepared to jab it directly into its head as it approached. That was the plan anyway. Really she was just hoping she could hurt it somehow by stabbing it somewhere.

That was it. The eye of Magala burned a bright crimson and starred at @DevilishDoodler Gwenan. He sighed, seeing her from a decent distance away and knowing he had no chance at escaping. He took off his hat to reveal his mangled hair and gently put his pipe inside. He threw his hat back, safely off the stage before getting completely and totally wrecked. He was chucked off the side of the stage like a bug, smashed yet somehow alive. Then the woman came forward like a pouncing Puma with glowing hands, sinking them into his flesh like stamps. He didn't wince at the pain, merely looking unsatisfied. He spoke like the monster he was soon to be, or maybe even was. He said, "Do you ask all boys out this way madam?" His words were calm, cold, and a bit of a smart ass. He cocked his head a bit, trying to peck a kiss on her forehead.

With that out of the way, he flicked up his hair to show that his right eye was missing. Dark skin sealed the spot where it should be, and that was a common thing with slaves nowadays. He said, "I get it, I get it. You're trying to bring me back to Mistress Toxina aren't ya? Didn't know that runaway slaves were monsters but.. I can infer from ya. Guess I'm an it now." he closed his eyes while giving off his satisfied smile of bliss. He half opened his eye with near bragging yet inquisitive eyebrows perked, "Now on to business. All I did was try and stop the Hound of Baskerville over there from setting the town on fire, while you have tackled a child I would say..." His eye looked up, going into thought as he calculated before guessing, "Five years younger than you? Either way, none of this matters. How about instead of pinning me down like little Timmy glued to your crotch..." He suddenly grew a hard expression, snarling out some of his true thoughts, "You get your fat ass off of me, and you do your job by slaying the fortune teller or the beast that is on FUCKING FIRE?!"

Gwenan's cold dead eyes gave the creature no feed back to its snide remarks. After a brief moment of silence, Gwenan reared back, and her forehead collided with the things nose with a sickening crack. She dug her burning hands deeper and compressed her knees into its sides.

"I care not for insults fowl creature, and I care not of what horrid place you came from. Nor whom you're trying to have me pursue. It was YOU who summoned this beast and it is YOU who controls it. I could smell your rotten evil stench from the crowd now CONFESS. YOUR. SINS."

She accented her three final words with more headbutts.

Magala sighed as all of his illusionary beasts began to surround her. Blood dripped from the exposed wound that told Magala what was going to happen. without the magic smoke of the pipe, he wasn't protected from it. His pain shot up past his rapidly lowering threshold margin, making him begin to cry. He could only feel the pain now, his arms burning, all of her weight on his chest, and snarled out between bleeding teeth a few sins, "I didn't treat my master the way she should have been treated! She bought me, I should be her undying servant... but I was selfish and ran away?! I... smoke though I'm too young according to master?!" He grew mad, and kicked his knees forward, trying to knock into her stomach. His eye glowed blood red as he screamed, "SURRENDER YOUR WILL AND YOUR MAGIC TO ME!" A massive burst of mana would ripple from him, trying to dominate her...

Beryll searched around, to no avail. She turned back towards the stage, intent on looking for some hint of any kind, when she saw Gwenan on top of a bleeding child with a missing eye. The two seemed locked in some kind of magical duel, not the kind for honor or showmanship, but the dirty, bloody kind. Wispy spectres floated around them, screaming visages scaring off any who would approach. Beryll thought quickly.

Finally, she sprung to action, calling Artur to fly near their faces, calling forth Light and attempting to Deafen them so she could interpose. Sheilding her eyes from her familiar's radiant body, she slammed into Gwenan, attempting to separate them.

In the silence after Deafen, she said "Think, you fools! The summon continues on while you both waste your efforts here!"

"What?" Yelled Gwenan, the loud caw from the bird that threw itself into her face had her ears ringing like church bells. "I can't hear you Beryll but I believe it was this wretched evil being who summoned this flame creature." She exclaimed to Beryll in a definitley louder than what was customary voice. "He not to be trusted!"

Gwenan stuck a finger in her ear and wiggled it about. Desperately trying to get it working again.

So after all of that, Magala finally got up and hid behind Berll. Magal spoke in a normal speaking voice due to trying to whisper to her, "I was trying to fight the damned beast, and she attacked me! She called me a creature and I thought she was going to bring me back to Lady Toxina. Please save me... Without my pipe I start freaking out... and she literally stole most of my mana..." Magala whimpered in pain, the bone of his nose sticking out due to her efforts. He whimpered out, "Im only 16... what did I do to deserve this?!"

Baryll was torn. Gwenan didn't seem like the type to attack needlessly, and this child seemed innocent enough. But Beryll had been hurt by those she trusted before. She moved away from the child, but took off one scarf and wadded it, pressing it to his face to stop the sluggish bleeding.

She looked at these two buffoons, and pointed to the fast-receding back of the monster. "Focus on that, not each other." she said, and moved past the two. Not much she could do from this angle, and she probably wouldn't catch up. She had given up on finding the summoner. She just prayed to Grey Horn that not all traces on the stage would be destroyed by the fire.

As everything was happening Augus was keeping the beast on track, making sure that there as no innocent was in harm's way. Seeing that someone was readying an attack for the beast, he would flip over the beast to deliver a swift kick to the beast's head to steer it towards the person that was readying to strike,  what in good's grief is this beast, it isn't a djinni's machinations or any of that sort, but it's determined that's for sure, augus though as he continued to control the beast's rampage through the city.

Marigold grail watched Gwenan and some other that she had declared to be evil tangle down and fight from the safety of her hiding spot. She contemplated on interfering and started to lean on deciding not to when the monster started to go after civilians. "Enough! We shouldn't be letting that thing go after innocents! Quit fighting each other!" Marigold yelled as she stepped out of her hiding place. "Shouldn't be doing this..." She mumbled as she held her staff tightly before kneeling on the ground with a determined and focused look on her face. "Please, wake up..." She said as she began to cast Awaken. The earth behind her start to bubble and shift around slightly. A figure began to rise out of the earth, it's limbs were sharpened rock and it was easily the size of a house. The awakened land elemental rushed out and tried to tackle the Ashenbeast.

Ashenbeast

As the beast was about to swat its closes attacker with it's claws a being made of earth and rock suddenly tackled into it and carried it over to the nearest house. It snarled in anger as it tried to get past the elemental only for  it to block it off and wrestle against it. But at the rate it was going, it seemed that it was only a matter of time before the Ashenbeast overpowered the elemental. A bright red glow emanated from its mouth before it let out a scorching hot gout of flame to burn the offending elemental o

Alexis was surprised to see the creature being suddenly pulled off-course by an Earth Elemental. Well, as long as it was stopped, it didn't matter how. She chased after the two and tried to get close enough to stab the beast somewhere important. Like the heart, or the head. Well... Those things were rather difficult to get to, actually. And depending on how thick its scales were, it was possible she might not even be able to penetrate them.

Then again, the Elemental was putting up quite a fight, perhaps it could open up a hole in the creature's natural armor. That's what she hoped would happen, anyway.

Gwenan shook her head and regained her hearing just in time to see the Ashenbeast to crash into a nearby house with Marigolds help.

She snapped into action, corralling the remaining crowd out toward the town's exit as she made her way closer to the beasts.

As she observed the monstrously large creatures fight, Gwenan saw that the Ashenbeast was about to toast the only thing keeping it immobilize.

As quickly as her legs could carry her, Gwenan sped towards the earth elemental, dodging falling debris and pieces of bricks, and with a mighty shout, she called to Nia.

"Blessed mother, cast your great shield upon this beast, let it fight this evil born from Fael's anger, let the world see what power you hold!"

Gwenans hand glowed white hot. She lightly touched the earth elementals leg as she ran passed it, and out of the warzone. A white light enveloped the elemental, but did not obstruct it's movement. Gwenan had granted the creature a amount of protection from the Ashenbeast's incoming attack.
