For countless generations, the Avatar was able to control the four elements of nature, and serve as the bridge between the Physical and Spirit Worlds. But there was once an Avatar who once went into the spirit world, an evil spirit escapes to the physical world and possess their body. With the Avatar's power, the spirit caused a river of destruction. Knowing there was no other way to save everyone, the Avatar is forced to destroy their body in order to stop the spirit.
To avoid another possible catastrophic event occuring in history once again, a new organization was fomed that practiced spirit fusion, being able to absorb them, and not only survive it, but enhance their own bending to greater heights. This order was meant to stop the Avatar if they were ever to step out of line. But when there seemed to be signs of corruption within th cult, they were forced to disband, with their studies and findings burned to ashes. But did they also burn the seeds. However, they did not burn the seeds, and the order, now known as the Fusion Cult, remained in secret. The seeds of corruption sprouted into the great tree of evil that was threatening the balance of the worlds. Now, only one person can restore the balance of the world, the one who can bend all four elements.....The Avatar

Nothern Water Tribe.
"Absolutely unacceptable! We cannot just throw our customs away. We have to remember our traditions!"
"I do believe we had a discussion like this before, as we all saw this as a great possibility and it was bound to happen sooner or later!"
"We can't be this selfish, this concerns the whole world and not just this tribe!"
"So what, she should have known better than to be reborn here then!"
"She's the AVATAR!"
"And she's A FEMALE!"
The whole council of the Northern Water Tribe was up in flames, with the Chief of the tribe sitting in the middle of it. What was the comotion about? The Avatar was just recently been discovered among the Tribe. But there was an issue. The Avatar had not even mastered their own element of water, and needed proper training. This wouldn't be a problem except for a few details: The law says that females of the tribe were not allowed to learn martial water bending, and it happens that the Avatar was just that: A female. So naturally, the council was going at each others throats over it. Some of the more stubborn ones insisted to stick to their traditions, and others didn't see why they couldn't just make an exception for the Avatar, since she's....welll....the Avatar. The whole thing was not really getting anywhere for a while.
However, after seemingly an hour of debating, the Chief finally spoke. "Guards, find the Yura and bring her to me, I have made my decision on what shall be done." Two guards left to go among the tribespeople to escort the Avatar, while the councilmen looked at each other wondering what decision he came to and which side he agreed with. It seemed as if they would find out shortly.....

Ba Sing Se, Earth Kingdom
In a dark quiet room, a large figure entered through the door to see another soldier sitting at a table. Shogen, a soldier in Ba Sing Se's military, was meeting with his father who was a general in the army. Shogen sat down wondering what exactly he was needing to speak to him about, even though he had a general idea of what the subject was.
"Anything to report sir?" Shogen said to his father, attempting to address him profesionally.
"Yes we found something," his father said. "It is as we suspected. It seems that traces of that cultic clan from the time of Avatar Shar still seems to exist."
"I see," Shogen said. "So why don't we just take then down now?"
"You can't fight an enemy when you don't know who your enemy is," his father said. "We don't know how far of an influence this cult has, and we don't know if it just exists within the Earth Kingdom...it could very well reach all the way down to the Southern Tribe for all we know."
Shogen nodded in acknowledgement. "So what do we have to do?"
"We need to know more about this cult, and see if the legends about them really hold as much water as they say. We have been made aware that one of our generals had been absent from duty on several occasions, so we believe that he may have some connections to this."
"So you want me to find something about this man?" Shogen questioned.
"Not exactly," the general stated. "I want you to find someone who can. If there is a secret organization and they discover the military is on to them, we don't know what the outcome would be. But if say, a random thief or assassin came in on their own accord, it would be left at that."
"You want me to hire a spy?"
"Close, son, you see, if we are in need of it, the target may have to be eliminated..."
Shogen raised his eyebrow in skepticism. "Does the king even approve of this?" He asked.
"He is the one who told me to carry this plan out when I secretly gave him the reports," his father said.
"I see...so what you want me to do is to find an assassin, tell them to spy on this guy, see what he is up to, and if neccissary, eliminate him."
"You understand correctly son. I do believe you need no further instruction?"
"Yes sir," Shogen nodded.
"Good then.."
Earth Kingdom Town
Looks like a good place to search. Shogen thought. Wearing more normal low class clothes rather than his usual military uniform, Shogen went out into a town some where outside the city of Ba Sing Se.
He needed to find someone willing to do this sort of dirty work, so Shogen spent the whole day there hanging around various areas in the town, and trying to eavsdrop on conversations, or star them up himself to see if he could learn anything. He certainly was not just going to ask some random person "Do you know where I could find an assassin" and expect it to not come back and bite him. But after some searching, Shogen managed to hear word of one woman who did assassin work. She seemed to have a decent reputation for her work, and seems to do it well. Her name was Nilak.
After more questioning, Shogen learned that she might be in the bar at the tavern in the town. When he went there, It seemed a bit cheap and run down when he went inside, and was filled with rouges and thugs. He certainly was not expecting anything upper-ring material, but he thought the place was a bit unsanitary. He didn't think to express this thought outwardly however, as he did not want to act like a pampered princess. He was a soldier in Ba Sing Se's army after all. And he had to find someone. He walked around, with his eyes carefully scanning the shady characters that here inside. Finally, he saw what seemed to be a young woman who wore clothes hailing from one of the water tribes. This was her? She didn't seem like she belonged with these thugs, if anything she seemed like she should be a slave girl or something. Still, logic told him that this was the woman he was looking for, so pressing down his doubts, he calmly walks up to what he hoped was the waterbender.
"Your name wouldn't happen to Nilak, would it?"
