Fantasy Auraelion: The two worlds

Key nodded his head everytime someone said something important. He then monotonically spoke up saying "We will have to find out once we get there. You said four miles, correct? Good, let's go there. Daera is a mobile island, we won't get there through anything short of flying or teleportation." He had a library of common knowledge in his head, another thing that was deemed necessary for the Children, since they had been locked up in that monastery for their entire lives.

"Let's start walking then." He said as he followed the guy he'd been informed was referred to as Moose. Wonder what the story behind that was.

(Do as I say, and not as I do. Writing long gives you style points in my book.)

Elose listened to the last bit of the conversations, not putting his word on anything, though he wanted to. When the person, whose name was Key, insisted they start moving, he nodding in agreement and followed. He listened quietly for any noises that may indicate that there were danger.

Kadron chuckled at Xerith's response, unfazed at all. He listened as the other members of the party discussed ideas for a few moments, one of them pulling out a map and talk of a nearby town commencing. "Sounds good." He paused for a moment. "Should we, ah....introduce ourselves? I'm sure that some of us already know each other, but for formalities sake." Smiling, Kadron bowed sarcastically. "I'm Kadron. Who's next?"

[Yeah.....weekends are just plain horrible to me....]

Fae had watched and listened, her arms crossed in front of her as she waited for the group to come to their conclusions. Inhaling deeply she closed her eyes, beginning to drift into thoughts when one of the members of the party spoke of leaving finally. Fae let out a sight of relief. "Finally, we can start this little show." she thought as she started off following the others but stopped once one of the members of their group introduced themselves as Kadron. She followed the same, slightly grateful for a moment to actually ease the tension between everyone. "Fae, the magnificent guardian" she announced, the corners of her lips forming a smirk as she turned, beginning her trek deeper into the jungle.

Moose just kept on walking, his chains clinking through the treeline. He stopped a moment when people began introducing themselves, and he turned towards Fae and the others. The Children were between a few of the Guards, and this kept them safe. He looked over the faces of the Guards he had not met, and the children. Which, some of them were as tall as he was. Others were taller. The height disadvantages of being human it seems.

"To keep these children safe, I need a few of you Guards to form ring around them. The other few can walk a short distance ahead, and if need to, a telepathic can report to each group about danger. We clear on this? Any objections?"

His chains rustled slightly and began to unravel about a foot off his arm, as he turned back around and continued walking. He looked up a bit at the canopy, and tried to gaze through the leaves to the stars, trying to find out which way they were all headed. He probably should've done this back out in the open, before he ventured into the jungle.

He looked over his shoulder, not directly at anyone but at the whole group in general. "My name is Ulno Emmiter. But you may call me Moose. Long story."

Finally! Simple though it was, introducing herself was something Cerin could relate to. She knew it was silly, to point out such a thing, but it mattered, because something she'd been taught in the days of her temple life, was finally being used. Offering a small curtsy, she extended her wings with a flourish, and spoke. "Cerin Laegwyn, beloved daughter of Ardyle, and Sister of the temple." Though the introduction may have seemed a bit odd to anyone who hadn't lived their entire life in a temple, she beamed with pride. Divine magic was slightly less common these days than most magics, at least based on what she'd learned during herdays in the temple. Cerin took pride in this, and hearing Key, and the one who called himself Moose (Wasn't that a sort of animal...? What an odd choice for a name...) she nodded her agreement. The introduction had brightened her mood, and boosted her confidence, significantly. Ready to begin marching, she took her place next to one of the Chosen. The Chosen appeared to be a human, with pointed ears, and had stood beside her at the ceremony earlier. How odd... now that Cerin thought about it, she realized there were actually a few members of the group, who had the same physical flaw. Having never heard of elves, her wonder grew.

"Your ears..." she spoke without thinking; in the temple, she'd never been taught what was the norm for social interaction, and as such, failed to realize, that even if it actually was a birth defect, it would have been rather rude to comment on. She continued, blissfully unaware of the potentially awkward situation she may be creating. "Are you okay? Do you need healing? I believe I can fix them." Offering a genuine smile to Anali, Cerin was trying her best to be helpful. Whatever the ailment, she was quite confident she could fix those silly, pointed ears.

Xerith kept up the pace no problem, every time the soft tap of his staff like a metronome, keeping the tempo of their steps. His thoughts returned to home, not to the temple, rather the parents he had not known, the ones that had sent him the knife he kept on his arm. Would they recognize him? would they go to the city if they knew the party was coming through….so many questions, but no way to check for the answers, shaking his head to dismiss his musings. There really was no way to figure out anything on the road there only was walking and talking. Which the party was already seemingly doing.

He noticed the others introducing themselves. “I already said the first part of my name. If you want the rest of it, it’s Xerith Ir Sholl.” He then heard moose’s comment and noticed the group form a circle around him and the rest of the Children of destiny. He figured that further harking on about being treated normally would do nothing…he was going to have to "sit" there and deal with it. Though he noticed the person that was closest to him was one of the girls that introduced herself. He figured conversation probably wasn't out of the question. He started off jokingly, “So Fae, the magnificent Guardian? Ehh, what’s the middle name? “the” or “the magnificent?”

Nakir rolled his eyes as they began to move along. About time we made some progress. Patience wasn't one of his strong points, as the more time spent doing nothing important, the less time was spent getting stronger. He turned his head towards the human whom had begun giving orders to form a circle around the children. He slowed down, moving farther away from the children out of spite. Who put this guy in charge? More importantly, why should he listen to a human of all things? At least with the other creatures such as elves and demons, they had something special about them. Humans were just plain and weak, a species Nakir thought should be the first to go.

"Why should we listen to you? You're just some boring old human. If anything, either me or the other angel should be giving out orders." He glared at the human who was apparently named 'Moose' with dagger-like eyes. He wanted to make it clear that he wasn't going to be bossed around by the likes of him. Turning to face the rest of the group, he spoke with a harsh tone. "And you don't need to know my name. Just know that I'm the one who is going to be doing all the heavy lifting around here." A name wasn't necessary, especially with this group. He rarely told anyone his name, besides officials and people he absolutely trusted. Of course, he had never trusted any non-angel, and that seemed unlikely to change.

Kriyze updated Auraelion: The two worlds with a new update entry:

Information

Cad brought it to my attention that I should probably tell you some general information about Auraelion. I've got it all locked up in my head, I just don't remember it all constantly, and putting it all together would be a bit hard, so I'll just post everything that currently comes to mind here.
>All chosen and Guards with royal background should have about 100-700 gold coins on them at this time.

>1 gold coin = 7$ USD

>All characters are independant, so please don't think of them as...

Key kept nodding. The group seemed to work together quite well so far. They weren't completely stupid either, their suggestions weren't bad. One of them, Moose, suggested surrounding the children to work as a defensive wall. "Good idea", he thought to himself. They weren't likely to be attacked here, but they definitely couldn't be ready enough. This was important.

"I'm Key." He said shortly as everyone started introducing themselves. That they might've not known his name had went above his head, as he knew all of theirs, plus some background story. "Why should we listen to you? You're just some boring old human. If anything, either me or the other angel should be giving out orders." Key flinched slightly. He was unable to feel anger, but he this didn't sound like it lead anywhere good. "And you don't need to know my name. Just know that I'm the one who is going to be doing all the heavy lifting around here." The angel walked right behind him, so he stopped and turned around, almost making them collide. Their faces were less than 3 inches apart, and Key had heard somewhere that seeming scary helped arguments a lot, so he kept his face neutral and said; "I assure you that we are all able to share the burden of anything, and if you're going to lower morale through patronizing and narrow-minded views of the world, I'll kill you right here."

He didn't have any personal care in the subject, but his mission was to make sure that the Children's mission went through smoothely, and low moral didn't help that. With the same monotone voice he said "Your name is Nakir. I want to hear you say it now." He silently threw a minor spell of terrifying aura about him as he did it, just to add to the effect.

Moose heard Nakir question his decision. He stopped in his tracks, and looked back at Nakir. He took a deep breath, sensing the angel's impatiences from years of experience. The triangle charm on his chains clinked as he did so. He put his head down, and spoke up so the angel could hear him.

"Little angel with the scimitar and the electrical powers. I do hope that you realize two things. First of all, we are told to arrive in Daera as soon as possible, correct? These children are in our charge, and we must keep them safe. I understand to each his own way of thinking, but being in a forest where no roads are visable, and wolves and panthers dwell about after dark, we need to move.

"Secondly, judging somebody on race is something you should not do. Each of us here, both the children and we Guards, have been hand picked because of our strengths. To pick a fight with anyone here would be devastation."

He noticed Key pick up before he could, and Ulno turned around, to place his gauntlet on Key's shoulder. He shook his head as if to say back off. "My friend Key, Nakir will learn our strengths soon enough. It is best to ignore him now and try to find way out of this jungle." He placed his hand off of Key's shoulder, and stared up at the sky again. It was impossible to see the stars through the canopy.

Moose continued to walk forward, continuing his path of exiting the forest.

When Moose grabbed his shoulder Key realized that that really took away from the fright factor, so he silently conjured up a wa-a-ay stronger fright spell. This one with an occular release. He quickly glanced into Moose's eye, hoping that he'd remove his hand when he did, and then he stared back into Nakir's eyes, finally breaking eye contact after three seconds to turn back around and keep walking as if nothing happened. Hopefully he had gotten his point across.

Key was familiar with almost all types of spells, since all that knowledge had been pumped into his head during his making, but he really liked illusion magic. There was something really nice about how they effected real people, but he knew he wasn't so great at them, since he couldn't actually think up good illusions himself, being completely unempathic with things that scared normal people. He only had his preexisting library of different spells.

Nakir had to suddenly stop in his tracks as the one who called himself Key suddenly halted and turned towards him, eyeing him with a blank, emotionless stare. this cold look sent a chill down his spine. It was very unsettling to say the least. "I assure you that we are all able to share the burden of anything, and if you're going to lower morale through patronizing and narrow-minded views of the world, I'll kill you right here." Shocked by such a blunt statement coming from such a calm person, Nakir couldn't help but recoil, gritting his teeth. He felt like he should retort, but when he tried to open his mouth, he found that he couldn't. His ability to speak seemed to be gone. Was he actually scared of this creature? he didn't know why, but something about him made Nakir terrified.

"Your name is Nakir. I want to hear you say it now." Visibly grimacing, Nakir unwillingly complied, raising his voice enough to be heard throughout the group. "Fine, I'm Nakir. Happy now?" He once again glared at Moose before moving forward. There were a few words he wanted to say to the human, but he had changed his mind. He didn't like the human any more now, nor any other race, but he wasn't going to be as vocal about it around that...thing. That was an unsettling experience he never wanted to feel again.

(I don't think anything interesting is going to happen during this walk, so I'll just skip ahead to the mages guild. You may add things retroactively if you think it's necessary.)

This mages guild was one of those crazy ones. Filled with Druids who definitely had drank a bit too much of that purple stuff flowing out of this here "holy" stump, or eaten too many of those "healing" bugs. Ughh. Thing is, most of the time, these had the most talented magicians in them, it's just that they were usually slow at doing anything, either because they're stoned, or because they make 800 unnecessary preparations before conjuring the magic itself.

Nontheless, this is were they had to go, the other closest mage's guild was 83 miles away, and with a group this big, that would be a long walk. Key sighed. The magicians of the group definitely had to learn mass teleportation sometime soon. The guild house itself looked strange enough as it was. It was like someone who really didn't understand elf magic, tried to use it to carve out a house of one of the enormous trees. That is, to say, it looked like an incredibly crude elven house(look at Faylin picture in overview for example of good house).

"I'll go ahead and strike a deal." Key said, before passing everyone in the group and heading inside. Maybe the group could have a moments conversation between themselves and strengthen their relationships slightly.

(EDIT: I added the extra country in overview)

Upon arriving at the guild house Elose immediately looked it over, It looks like a strange attempt at one of my race's houses, he thought to himself. He shook his head slightly and looked around the area, they were still around a forest. When one of the people spoke, Elose immediately looked up, noticing it was the man, by the name of Key, he just let out a small nod, and continued looking around for any danger, or resting place where he could sit. He didn't plan on speaking, he found that a lot of the people in this group were not the most optimistic people, and he had a job to do, so he'd have to work his best at least being able to work with them.

Beast? Eris gave a glance to the angel before hesitantly deciding to allow it to roll off her shoulders, figuring it’d be a wiser decision to keep her mouth clamped instead of fueling his irritation further. In all honesty, if she were to say anything, she doubted her words would’ve changed his demeanor at all. At Key’s words, she gave her head a succinct nod. The demon exhaled quietly as they began moving forward, more than glad to begin on their way, as it already seemed was going to take some time. In her eyes, the sooner they retrieved the Chrono Amulet, the better.

A bit of the tension fell from the air as introductions were being thrown back and forth among the group members, and she opened her mouth to play her part, only to have her name hitch in her throat as the angel once more found the need to insult a race other than his, undoubtedly believing they were beneath him. Key and Moose were quick to spring on him, and she halted, half-turning to see. Though Key’s magic was not directed at her, the echo alone of its strength was enough to send her chills, and she made a mental note to stay as far from his bad side as possible.

The mage guild she had been imagining and the one standing before them seemed to be from two different realities. Unlike her assumption, the building’s appearance was awkward to the eye, and she could only imagine what kind of beings remained inside, though she preferred not to, since that didn’t quite work out in her favor last time. Key soon ventured off inside, and she nodded small. Eris remained silent for a moment, then, figuring there'd be no better time than now, spoke. "I'm Eris Shyama, by the way," she said, turning to the group and offering a smile before clearing her throat and continuing. "Didn't quite get the chance to say it back there."

Kadron smiled and sat on an (oversized toadstool?) "Well, we might as well dole out duties right now. I see at least one person with leadership potential here." He winked at Moose, then turned to Eris. "Pretty name." With a slight twitch around one of his eyes, Kadron's thoughts went off. It might be better just to kill everyone here....he closed his eyes, realizing what was happening. Thankfully, suppressing that 'side' of him was relatively easy when in a calm area, but why they had even shown up was a mystery to him. After a few more moments, Kadron felt satisfied that he was, once again, in complete control. With a barely audible sigh of relief, he opened his eyes again. "I wouldn't suggest putting me in any place of authority."

(I'm just telling you guys that Elose had not introduced himself yet, at all)

Elose sighed, seeing no danger, he sat down on the grass a little ways from the group, so that he could still hear the forest, just in case anything decided on appearing. He pulled his sword out of his sheath, and worked to sharpen it, as it had dulled over the many years of not being used. He didn't wish to be a distraction, and if anyone were to speak to him he would give the minimal answer, unless a description was needed of course.

Ummm... the thought was silent. Cerin hated to admit all of the confusion she held about the outside world. That's a tree...house? It's a house like a tree. Or is it a tree, that looks like a house? She wasn't sure of exactly how it worked, but assumed it was the work of some magic. Perplexed by the awkwardness of the house, she jumped slightly when Eris spoke, the noise surprising after being so absorbed in her own thoughts. She turned, and nodded in acknowledgement. Listening to the half-angel, half-demon (however did that come to pass? Nevermind. I'd rather not know, anyway), she raised an eyebrow at his odd statement. Seeing another of the defective, pointy-eared men sit down on the grass, away from the group, she decided to strike up a conversation. Slowly, she approached him. "Uhh... hello!" Her wings shifted as she greeted him, as they typically did when she was nervous, or uneasy. He looked lonely.

Crouching down next to him, she was nearly eye-to-eye with him, less than a foot away, not having any knowledge of "personal space". Beaming, she continued. "I can fix those for you, if you want... I think." She'd healed many wounds in her time in the temple. Did this count as a wound? Probably not. She'd never tried healing any birth defects... but she could try. What could go wrong with healing magic? Nothing! ...Right?

Elose looked up at the girl and gave her a quizzical look, not really knowing what she meant by those, then realizing she meant his ears, he chuckled slightly, "They aren't broken, actually they are my race's distinguishing trait," he explained. He raised an eyebrow at how close the girl was, but said nothing, not wanting to be rude.

Ulno seemed at home in the shotty little tree home. Members of the guild he seemed to recognize, as he'd seen a few of them on his journey as a young adult. He gladly kept a conversation going with a few of the guild members, talking about whatever came to mind after Moose got all the information he needed. Location, and directions mostly.

He kept an eye on Nakir, but still looked around to study the faces of those who had introduced themselves, and who hadn't said a word the entire walk yet. Eris. Elose. Kadron. Cerin. Key. Nakir. Xerith. Fae. The others might have been to shy, or unable to speak during the walk here.

They were lucky to get to the guild before sunrise. Ulno was starting to doubt himself about ever getting out of the unknowns of the forest. His navigational skills aren't what they used to be. But still, a drink and a place to kick your feet after a walk such as that was wonderful.

Ulno kept conversing with a few of the guild members as he watched over the rest of the group.

"Pardon? Your race?" Clearly confused, she moved her head to the side, slightly, to get a better look at his ears, moving even closer to his face. Her pale green eyes widened as she examined them. "You mean they're supposed to be this way?" Her inspection complete, she leaned back to her original position. "Doesn't it hurt? And what kind of race are you, anyway?"

The position in which she was kneeling was somewhat awkward. Nearly losing her balance as she leaned back, she quickly extended her white, feathered wings to their fullest, her right, crippled wing only extending approximately 3/4 of the distance the other did. The wing no longer hurt, but she could feel the tightness of the tendons as she extended it, and winced. She'd never been able to fly within the temple, for obvious reasons, and would likely never know the sensation. Suddenly remembering what was currently happening, she turned her attention back to the man. "So! How about you? What's your name?" Firing question after question, Cerin once again didn't understand that it wasn't considered polite. Why go back and forth, and only ask one question, when you can just ask multiples at once, and then get all of the answers at once?

Elose chuckled again, She's rather animated, he thought to himself. He sheathed the sword that had been sitting on his lap, and waited patiently while she inspected his ears, with a rather curious look on her face. He smiled slightly, then he noticed, when she had extended her wings, that one of her wings looked to be injured. He ignored it however, as she was asking questions.

"I'm an elf, and my ears don't hurt, though I would understand why you would think that. And my name is Elose Alfheim," he answered all her questions to the minimal extent, as that was all he asked, he decided to ask a question himself. He pointed to the wing that looked to be injured, "If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your wing? It doesn't look like you would be able to fly with it like that," he pointed out.

Fae glanced around the guild house, immediately thinking of her homeland. She nodded her head slightly at Key's words. She found him strange of course, deadly even, but she didn't worry too much about it. He just seemed concern with pushing forward which she had no problem. Though it had been quite amusing for her to watch him put Nakir in his place.

As those around her started conversing Fae glanced around for someone who wasn't busy in conversation or at least seemed friendly or willing to talk. Her eyes flickered around until she saw him sitting on a toadstool. The one who had suggested the introduction in the first place. "Ah, Kadron..?" she thought, then nodded to herself. Yes, that was it. She moved towards him, waving her hand slightly to get his attention.

"So little Kadron huh? How are you holding up on all of this so far?" she asked. Referring to him as little was just a little teasing of hers. It was quite obvious she wasn't serious, considering he (and many other people) were taller than her. She found it quite annoying herself that despite the fact she was a elf and suppose to be slightly taller than humans, she had come out pretty much the same height as the average one.

Anali listened intently to the back and forth conversation of Nakir, Key, and ... 'Moose'. She didn't like it, but it gave her insight on what she needed to know about them. Moose was more of a leader, one to take charge and hand out orders and advice to help move things along. Nakir seemed to be one who worked alone, as he was gifted enough as it was, and perhaps he was afraid to be shown up by others. Key was very defensive, which she thought was a good and rather charming thing. A wrong phrase or action and he was there to correct it. However, that could go both ways. Cerin rather amused her. She had no prior knowledge of elves, and even though that was a bad thing, explaining their culture differences would prove to be challenging. Still, she would be happy to help her.

When they arrived at the Mage's Guild, she found herself in awe. She didn't leave the temple often, but when she did, it was to do further training or seek the insight of other people more powerful than her, like the gods or other gifted people like herself. She had been to many other temples and castles, but this was absolutely magnificent. She had never seen anything like it, and she could feel the power that rolled off of the structure, as if it was doused in pure mana. The sight of it, and the feeling of it made her smile, and she began to wonder what the people in the guild were like.

She was tempted to follow Key inside, but she decided against it. She instead stayed behind, lingering just a few feet away from Cerin and Elose. She tried not to listen to their conversation, but it was hard, being so close. She smiled, because of Cerin's ignorance of the Elven race. She wondered if she knew of any others besides the elves. If she didn't, this whole trip would be an interesting one indeed.
