Atypical​

Sitting before you is a large screen, with a static, distorted appearance of a woman on the screen. She seems to be talking, but the sound around you from the other new recruits is rather loud. However, the ringing of a bell silences them like nothing else.

"Hello, and welcome to Autumn, a boarding school for those who belong to a special category of people. What is this category of people, you ask? Well, you might already know as you are one yourself. You're an anomaly. You're atypical."

Atypical. You hear that word all the time. It's short hand, a code, a phrase, that basically means that you've got supernatural abilities. And you're here at this school for one reason.

"You're here to learn about how your powers work, so you can further strengthen them. Take control of your mind, and take control of your abilities."

  ADA - Stands for "Anomalous Displacement Attempt." An ADA is an atypical's way of projecting energy onto the surrounding environment in the form of their ability.
  Attempt Aura - An atypical is constantly surrounded by a second "skin" known as an "attempt aura." This is the atypical's subconscious attempting to manipulate the atypical's surroundings to best fit the atypical's ability. However, this is canceled out by the natural laws of the universe that don't normally allow anomalies to happen. An Attempt Aura is unable to be seen by the naked eye, but can be felt depending on the user's ability. Someone with a wind-based ability may constantly have the air shifting around their body in a certain direction, or someone with a magnetism-based ability may be constantly repelling small metal objects such as paper clips or nails.
  
  Ability Types - Since Anomalous Displacement Attempts are capable of manifesting in different ways, Autumn Academy has grouped the abilities into four main categories. Direct Manipulation, Direct Emission, Direct Enhancement, and Indirect Diffusion.

  Direct Manipulation - Direct Manipulation is directly using an ADA to manipulate an already existing source. These tend to be rather powerful when there's an abundance of a material that can be manipulated, but isolating the user from their natural material can render them powerless. Example: Metal Manipulation- The user's attempt aura extends around the metal within range and is capable of freely shaping it, as if the metal was molding clay. The metal can also be moved, without the user's limbs being involved.

  Direct Emission - Direct Emission is directly using an ADA to emit a particular energy, particle, or wave from the user's body. These are extremely versatile but are limited to the user's own biological strength, as each use of this ability drains the stamina drastically, depending on the user's mental strength.
  Example: Flame Generation/Pyrokinesis - The user is capable of generating, shaping, and manipulating fire that they have created. The amount of fire generated is fully dependent on the user's willpower and the environment they are in (e.g. fires won't form underwater, or in oxygen-devoid areas).

  Direct Enhancement - Direct Enhancement is the direct use of an ADA into one's own body. Instead of an aura radiating outwards, there is a constant implosion of energy into the user, enhancing their physical state to superhuman levels at all times. Direct Enhancement has the highest endurance of the four types, but is also limited to the human physique.
  Example: Enhanced Strength - A particularly athletic user of an attempt aura that drives mental power to their muscles is capable of exhibiting supernatural strength, being capable of lifting cars or heavy items that ordinarily wouldn't be able to be lifted. An advantage of having a Direct Enhancement is that you are undetectable as an atypical, as you don't have a detectable Attempt Aura. However, this type of ability is still limited to the human physique.

  Indirect Diffusion - Indirect Diffusion is the indirect use of an ADA to manipulate the fundamental forces of the universe. This power is virtually useless on its own, but when in the presence of another being with an attempt aura, Indirect Diffusion is capable of channeling any energy transfer to the user to manipulate objects in a tactile manner via fundamental forces. This is the most difficult to learn, as most who have this type of ADA aura are even unaware that they are capable of such feats.
  Example: Electromagnetism - While the user normally is incapable of manipulating electromagnetic fields on their own whims, they, should they ever be struck with a powerful electrical current, will subconsciously manipulate the electromagnetic energy from the source and it will seemingly vanish. However, electromagnetism can be then later used ("stored" for later use) to perform feats such as generating plasma from ionizing gas, or charging an electronic appliance. Usually, users of Indirect Diffusion have certain equipment that enhances their normally rigid and conditional powers, such as a taser pointed to oneself in the case of electromagnetism.

I actually mish-mashed Toaru Majutsu no Index's "AIM" concept and generic superpowers,

but thanks for pointing this out I'm gonna watch this now.

However the RP has nothing to do with the plots to either of these anime because I don't know what Hunter X Hunter's plot is and this is gonna be kinda original too :3
