Attunement and anima banners

Not usually much of a problem for lower-Essence characters, considering their mote commitments to artifacts don't usually go beyond the single digits...


Right. Presuming a character had enough artifacts with a high enough attunement cost - in the realm of sixteen motes and more - and takes those motes out of Peripheral Essence, how is he with anima display? Does it just flare up in the moment of attunement and fade over time (but still flare up when he spends Peripheral Essence again) or does the banner stay up for as long as he's attuned?


My reading of the rules suggests the former, but I'm not really that sure. Any help?

Only the act of spending Peripheral Essence adds to your anima banner, not committing it. Attuning the artifact would cause his anima banner to flare, but once it dies back down the Exalt is back to the 0 mote level and builds from there again. This is why practically everyone commits motes from their Peripheral pool to Artifacts instead of from their Personal Pool.
