Hello! Greetings traveler. Welcome to the beautiful kingdom of Lorana! I’m sure you’ve heard of it!
You haven’t?
……
Well! That’s okay! Lots of people don’t know about the largest kingdom in the world, it’s perfectly understandable!
Our vast kingdom is made up of towns, farmland, forests, and of course, a gigantic castle right in its center. All of this is ruled by the great King Loranos, his headstrong wife Edalene, and their three accomplished daughters Edalene II, Vaiel, and Delwyn. So far their rule has been just and peaceful, and we live in relative comfort and prosperity.
But don’t turn away so fast Adventurer! There might be some excitement for you yet. You see, darkness has been spreading like wildfire across the world and sneaking its way into our kingdom. Rumors of dragons, evil witches, dark mages and frightening monsters have been whispered amongst the townspeople, and even the most courageous of fighters have turned up their nose at the quests posted on the Kings Bulletin outside of the castle.
That’s where you come in. Are you up for the task of defeating the evil forces threatening to destroy our peaceful existence? It will be difficult, daunting and extremely dangerous. Sadly, some of you may not make it, but that just means more rewards for the ones who do! So sharpen those swords, practice those spells and for goodness sake, take a bath, for your journey is about to begin.
Gameplay:
Athamar is a freeform, chapter based, epic fantasy roleplay that is run by me and my Co-GM, Wattz. You can expect many adventures and different quests that may pertain to your character or plot development. Aside from this, you can also expect to see:
A Vast World:
While some of our quests come from Lorana, the characters do not have to come from the kingdom itself. The world is vast with many possibilities. Are you a dark elf from the desert? Or a mage from the kingdom of magic? Perhaps you came from someplace poor and travel to Lorana to earn a few coins. Regardless of who you are and where you come from, you can expect a world of diversity wherever you are.
Races:
Athamar is a world of all possible races. Aside from your typical races (human, elf, dwarf), you have the giants from the desert, the Jotun, the almighty dragons, the unicorns, among many others.
…Except hybrids. You won't find those here!
Lore:
As you’re aware, Athamar is an immense world; hence, there are infinite legends and beliefs. Gods, Ancient Giants, Folklore… Players are encouraged to help shape or form the world though involvement of creating cities, landscapes, locations, and cultures.
Many Open Doors:
Players are granted the freedom to write their own stories or have their own private roleplays based in Athamar. Whether it’s a prequel, a sequel, or set in current events, you are allowed to expand your creativity and explore the world on your own.
Requirements
As GM of the roleplay, I have the right to reject your character if I find it over the top, godmoddish, or for whatever reason I may find.
Dedication plays an important role. If you back out, I have the right to kill off your character. Please notify me if you cannot be part of the rp any more.
Must be literate and an experienced writer. Hurrr durrr.
Everyone is more than welcome to create more than one character as long as they can handle it. Three is the maximum.
For this roleplay, everyone is going to have their main character that will embark on these quests. Aside from your main character, you have the option of making side characters that will appear only in certain quests.
Because this is a chapter-based roleplay, everyone is allowed to chip in ideas. Our characters will be traveling across the world a lot, so if you have a “quest” in mind, I beg you to tell us! It will make the roleplay more exciting that way!
Always ask questions if you have any.
I have a minimum of six players: Wattz, Imp, AngelicAsylum, Cthulhu, Ace of Hearts, and myself. But I will allow a maximum of ten players. I know that sounds like a lot, but on the previous forum I had this amount and a few dropped out. So I'm not too worried.
If it's possible, I like to have subforums: for character sheets and NPCs, Lore, and Private RPs/Stories. For new players interested, my Co-GM and I will assist you in your character creation and things you need to know.
