[Athamar: Quests from Lorana] Ace's Characters.

Ace of Hearts1

Alcoholic Duck.
Name: Arsene Salazar.

Age: 24.

Appearance:

Arsene stands in an 5'10 and weighs 140 pounds, and is of a thinner build. He is athletic to the point of being quick on his feet and rather acrobatic. He's strong enough to carry himself over walls and climb up rope, but can easily be outmatched(in terms of strength) by warriors. He has ear length wavy brown hair that leads into prickly stubble across his jaw. Arsene suffers from complete heterochromia iridum, or the having of two different eye colors. One is green and the other is a greyish color. This is due to a lack of a certian pigment in his eye.

Location: Perennon Forest.

Class/Weapon: Gentleman Thief: Arsene carries his own bow, fashioned from the one of the finest trees within the Perennon Forest. He is a skilled Archer, well versed in both Short and long bows. In his line of 'work', he's prefered he non-lethel approach (unless dealing with monsters or bandits), prefering to subdue rather than kill. Aiming for the legs would be a fine choice. the better case scenario, use some of his custom arrows. Those of which are: Noisemakers, Fireworks, and Sleepers. Noisemakers are attached with a small Music box, which lures guards or monsters where ever it's shot. Fireworks hold a small amount of black powder, which can be used to stun or for sabotage.

Sleepers are dipped in a non lethel posion which knock out the target. The downside to all these are: Noisemakers are faint and can malfunction if not handled delicately. Fireworks have fuses of varible lengths, and Sleepers may not affect larger, stonger creatures/people. One larger shared downside is they all cost a pretty copper piece to buy, and he rarely carries around more than 2 of each. He also has a grappling hook to help him scale things, and can also be used as a last resort close weapon.

Personality: Suave. Deceptive. Methodical. Arrogant. Many words describe Arsene. Foul or complimentary is dependent on who is actually speaking. Charms and wit are tools of the trade of the thief, just as greed is. And Arsene has these in the tenfold. He does not believe in loyalty to any single cause or man, instead owing his allegiance to himself and the pursuit of gold. No Gods, No Masters. However, if he ever decides you're worthy of his admiration, you'll have a bow covering your back forever

Bio: Born the only child of Corn farming parents, Arsene was a little less than content. Granted, his father often took him out hunting, where he learned how to handle a bow. Many things often came up missing in their house, often found in Arsene's room. Often times, they'd find things they didn't even own. Going into a teenager, he became quite skilled with a bow, and that's when his parents saved enough gold for the trip to the Perennon Forest, where he lived for some time, training in the arts of shadows and persuasion. Being one of the few humans in the Forest, he learned the language of the Elves.

He worked as an apprentice under Vyria Ellamas, Lady of the Shadow Weavers. The Shadow Weavers are an order of thieves who wield the darkness through magical means to distract and mesmerize, in order to augment their physical skills. He worked with long time partner Bernadette Mirell. While Arsene didn't posses any magical talent, Bernadette did, and it is common for Shadow Weavers to work in a partnership like that. For 6 years they worked together, from age 14 to 20, until on one heist gone wrong Bernadette left a wounded Arsene for capture. When he escaped, he went back to Vyria, ashamed to have failed her. As fate was cruel, Bernadette was there, who had decieved Vyria telling that Arsene and his incompetence had almost gotten them both captured. Arsene pleaded his case, but was cast out of apprenticeship. He now worked on his own, alone and bitter.

A few years had past on his own and luck shoud have it, he had met two adventurers, Brol Askerad, 3st son of Rigar Askerad, and 3rd in line for the Ironsplitters tribe Chieftain, and Calisa Ednias, Elven mage and recent graduate of Anorgath. The three of them traveled across the land, doing odd jobs primarily. They had a good balance, and they mostly got along. Sure, Calisa had to lock Arsene mouth shut with a spell everytime he made a pass at her, and they had to carry Brol out of taverns. Sometimes more than once a day.

Name: Brol Askerad.

Age: 78 (In human years, the equivalent of 38.)

Appearance: Brol stands in a 4'5 and weighs 235 pounds. He is stout and burly, and has a red face and a great brown beard tied into a single knot. He has strength enough to be able to the heaviest of weapons, and even with his short size, he is able to hold his own against foes double his stature. He wears a set of Iron armor, adorned with furs and leather

Location: Fevaran Valley, Island off of Lamordia.

Class/Weapon: Ironsplitter Barbarian: The Dwarves of the Ironsplitter tribe (Or in their native tongue, 'Contanore reh Danrud', literally meaning 'Those who split ores') are somewhat known for their Craftsmanship of iron armors and fine axes. Brol is no stranger to this, and while he himself cannot craft much, he owns some of the finest the tribe has to offer. Being the 3rd in line for Cheiftain position doesn't mean he was spoiled. Dwarven people, no matter the rank or level of living, believe in instilling strength into the young ones. As such, Brol has been battle hardened, even if the son of Cheiftain. One does not usually attain the title by being weak. He usually wields a large Battleaxe, specially made for him, over a sword. A Warhammer is usually in his arsenal as well, but it isn't aren't as versitile as his Axe.

Personality: Brol is typically blunt and straight forward with everyone, as Dwarves do not cower behind lies. If he has a proplem with someone, he'll tell them. Usually loudly. While not exactly dumb, most of his time was spent fighting or training, so he has little formal education. In his down time, Brol LOVES to drink, and is usually drunk most nights. During such times, he's much more lighthearted and playful, as it's a celebration to him.

History: Born to Rigar and Edlena Askerad, Brol is the 3rd son, behind Tilum and Rigar the 2nd. The Ironsplitter tribe is made up of around 350, 100 of them being warriors. All three Askerad brothers joined, and all three attained the rank of 'Kurask' (A sort of platoon leader, usually commands 20 men.) There are only ever 5 Kurasks, and their father was proud all three managed to be so talented. Brol and his brothers fought in many battles, which only furthered the Askerad name. However, their Father's health had began to dwindle, and instead of waiting for death, accompanied his sons for one final battle against a rival tribe or Marauders. He fell as the battle began to quiet, and at the funeral, his first sone, Rigar the 2nd, was given the title of the new Cheiftain.

With the Cheiftain, and the tribe growing, Brol decided to resign from his rank of Kurask. He spoke it over to his brothers, and decided to journey away from the tribe, to seek out other Dwarven groups and propose a possible truce, or an induction into their own. On his way, he met Calisa Ednias, a wandering mage who needed some muscle as she traveled. Together, the two traveled through Lamordia, down to the Perennon Forest, where they met Arsene. Together the three traveled, and Brol looked for any other tribes. Eventually he gave up his search, and began to work as a mercenary along with Arsene and Calisa.

Appearance:

The_Invoker_by_cwgabriel.jpg

Calisa is a Half Elf, standing at six foot nine, with long golden hair and fair skin. Her pointed ears break through her hair, allow a viewer to see just the tips of them. Her face is fairly Human, with her Elven heritage poking through in her ears and her pointy nose. Calisa chooses not to wear any typical head covering mage hat, opting for an inconspicuous circlet. As she wishes not to draw attention to herself, the only piece of clothing she wears that signifies her alignment is a red cloak.

Name: Calisa Ednias

Age: 194. (19 and 4 months by Human years. Centuries are treated as decades, decades are treated as single years, and single years as months. Half Elven calender.)

Location: Travels primarily, but owns a cottage in the capitol of Lorana, residential district.

Class/Weapon: Red 'Battle' Mage/Rune Staff. Calisa knows mainly elemental spells, but is trying to branch out through study, as her long life span will allow it. Unfortunately, nothing has taken. In battle she uses her staff to augment and channel her spells, and actively uses it as a weapon. She's quite proficient in Staff fighting. She is a tad bit more physical than other mages in battle, which doesn't allow for her to use many spells during. Most of her spells can only be used in conjunction with her staff, which is resistant to all user cast elements. She's able to handle herself in some melee situations, but prefers to only take on one person at a time.

Personality: Calisa is a natural isolationist, and is made very uncomfortable by large crowds. She is however open with Brol and Arsene, and other mages she runs across. She is a dedicated student of the Arcane and pursues knowledge enthusiastically, and discusses it with mages and non mages alike. If someone does not fit this criteria, Calisa prefers to leave any talking to Arsene. Unless addressed directly, in which she's quiet and picks the shortest answer possible. She also has a slight prejudice towards Pure Elves, as she has been discriminated against for her human heritage.

History: Born the illegitimate daughter of a High Elven noblewoman and a harem boy, Calisa was afforded little luxury despite her mother's status. She was raised by the human handmaidens her entire life, while being verbally abused and dictated by her own family. Her lineage was kept a secret for many years, finally being revealed by her father on his deathbed. When she was 15 (by elven standards) she confronted her mother. The two got into an altercation, and Calisa was sent away to Anorgath, as she had already began to exhibit magical abilities.

Calisa, again faced with discrimination, was assigned to the only Half Elf Master. The two worked away from the majority of the school, as the other kids effected Calisa's magic negatively. At first, she detested being there. Not the magic, mind you, but being sent there against her will by her mother (who Calisa refused to refer to her as such.) She eventually warmed up to her Master, who she could confide in about her insecurities about her race, as he suffered the same. The day of The Test was one of her happiest, as she proudly passed into the Red sect. But also because she got to gloat her colors by the true elves who hadn't passed yet.

She soon left the school, wishing to pursue magical knowledge on her own, and from different sources. She soon met up with the drunkard Dwarf Brol, who assisted her by killing things. The deeper they traveled into the world, they met Arsene, who decided that some pretty elf girl would be easy pickings for his tongue and sticky fingers. Unfortunately this didn't work, but it turned out for the best.

Calisa's Book of Witchery and Wizardcraft.

  1. These spells result in mild migraines and a slight burning sensation in the eyes.

  • Fire Tips: Calisa ignites the ends of her staff aflame and hits folk with it, potentially lighting them on fire.

  • Frost: Calisa lets a small blast of ice out of her staff, with the chance of freezing targets solid. If not, they do get a nasty cold!

  • Bandage: The only healing spell in her book, able to only close up moderate lacerations by pressing her hand to the wound.

  1. These spells cause nausea, blurred vision, loss of balance and weak arms and knees

  • Ice Spike: Self explanatory, a spear type object is emitted from the staff, and can pierce lightly armored foes. Can also explode, sending much smaller ice shards that act as shrapnel.

  • Quake: Calisa pounds her staff onto the ground, splitting the earth six feet wide, making opponants fall to the ground or into the hole. Note: Can only be casted in a straight line.

  • Stalagmite or Stalactite?: Calisa roots her staff into the ground and remains stationary. For every minute that passes, up to five, one stalagmites will erupt from the ground when she removes the staff. Note: Does not work where natural earth is not present, such as: Towers, Keeps, Castles, anything floored with heavy materials or raised above ground. Can pierce wood.

  1. This spell WILL cause near to total unconsciousness, loss of vision, nose bleeds, loss of hand-eye coordination, inability to form coherent sentences and irrational fear of wind. Consult your physician before using with alcohol or operating trebuchets.

  • Whirlwind: Calisa spins her staff incredibly fast, conjuring up a large tornado to pick up and fling enemies all over the battlefield, sometimes off of heights or into things. Care must be taken afterwards as she is very, very vulnerable to attacks and indirect hard from the environment.
