One of Jupiter's Moons, Europa used to be a planetary body sheeted with vast amounts of ice. The potential to turn this body into a livable place for humans was why it was chosen for terraforming. Europa was one of the first planets to be terraformed, transforming the atmosphere in a way that supports life. Being one of the first moons to be terraformed, the process wasn't perfect, leading to catastrophe many years later. At first the changes went well, vast oceans forming across the surface. These oceans were short lived as the new atmosphere prevented rain, these oceans slowly drying up due to the increased temperatures that terraforming brought. The last rain event was in 2500, the current year being 2690.190 years have passed since the last drop befell upon the surface. Currently, the surface is covered in vast deserts, the conditions terrible for all life. Only certain species of plants and animals thrive out in the dry conditions. While the conversion of Europa has been considered a failure, that hasn't stopped humanity from trying to call it home. While most bodies of water have dried up, one remains. A small lake that is encapsulated by a massive biodome. This city is simply referred to as the Core. Using moisture capturing technology, rainfall has been mimicked inside this biodome, allowing for vibrant life. Outside the Core, life is more bleak. Not having access to the same living conditions as those in the core, life is unpleasant. This unpleasantry is worsened by the lack of law abiding bodies outside of the Core.
The Core is a large city that sports vibrant greenery and building density that can support the massive population that resides in it. Unlike the outside world that surrounds the massive biodome, life thrives in this environment. Life within this city isn't cheap, only available to those with wealth. Most citizens were born in to it, their privilege being passed down upon them by their parents. It's hard to earn your way into the Core from the outside world. Just getting inside is an expensive endeavor. This city has effectively created two classes of citizens. Those who live within it and those who do not. Those who do not live within the city have to deal with the harsh living conditions on the outside. People who live in the Core rarely venture to the outside world and if they do, it's not for the benefit of those on the outside. The Core contains the only way on and off the planet, the space port. The space port connects the moon to other planets within the solar system that are inhabited by humans. Space travel is essentially only available to those residing in the Core.
For those who are not fortunate enough to live inside the core, life is drastically worse. Life is sparse except for one settlement, Zernos. Zernos is the cultural center and hub of economic activity for those outside of the Core. Conditions are less than desirable but finding the basics to survive is easier within the center. Illegal activities run rampant as there is no law abiding body outside of the Core. Since Zernos is located not far from the core, it is a prime base for smugglers that try to get supplies in and outside the Core. Unlike the Core, there are no restrictions for who can live or not live in Zernos. People are expected to govern themselves, the presence of gangs and other organizations a commonality within the city. Many events take place within the city, like gladiatorial events, derbies and races.
Nobody knows where they came from but in the year 2500, extraterrestrial beings made contact with humanity. Ever since then, the solar system has been bombarded by crash landings or alien travelers. Some aliens chose to settle in some of the human settlements. Xenophobia was rampant across the human worlds, essentially casting these newcomers to the depths of society. On Europa, the Unwanted are not allowed in the Core. These newcomers are relegated to Zernos and the barren wastelands of the moon. Even within Zernos, these newcomers face a lot of discrimination, still not fully accepted in to society. The Unwanted come in a variety shapes, sizes and species because of the large expanse that space is.
That is entirely up to you! This RP is designed so you can channel your creative freedom and ultimately decide what you want for your character. There will be no hard guidelines and as long as your character fits within the setting, you can make it. Whether it'd be a junker or a bandit, the possibilities are endless. The core setting will take place within Zernos, characters won't be allowed to live within the Core (for now). Major events will occur within the setting but there will be no general plot. You control where your character will end up. I will be making many of the scenes, so if you're not comfortable plotting you can just throw them in! This RP is designed to be easy going and fun. If you have any questions about the setting, I'd be more than welcome to help. This is just a basic summarization, I am more than happy with providing more details!
1. This RP will be 18+. Adult themes are always a possibility, especially in a RP of this nature.
2. Don't be an asshole. Shouldn't have to be said but some people have an issue with this one.
3. When it comes to face claims, it has to be Anime/Semi-realistic.
4. On the topic of character sheets, the max will be two characters per person. This could be subject to change.
5. I expect a steady posting pace. I see what happens when things drag on too long. You will be expected to post within a ten day time frame. This rule will be strictly followed. There will be exceptions for personal reasons and vacations.
6. A two paragraph minimum is required for posts. It has to be well structured paragraphs, not just five sentences thrown together.
7. As of now there will be a cap of fifteen players (that can change).
8. To prove that you read the rules, send a picture of Johnny Bravo in your message (if you don't know who he is, google is your friend).
9. This expected to be a chill RP. Don't take things too seriously.
