Fantasy Arlandia's Fate

In the entirety of this world we've come to know as Gaia, Arlandia is but one of many lands. But what makes it so different from the others? The answer is quite simple - an unbelievable unity that forged this land into one nation, despite it being a melting pot of all life and culture. For centuries, Arlandia has thrived under the rule of the Empire bearing the same name.

However, all good things come to an end.

The throne was passed onto the Garhelith nobles, and under their rule, Arlandia glory was slowly withered throughout their regime. Perhaps the power has driven their kin mad, or they were simply born this way. One thing is for sure - they've changed the way of life in this once prosperous land. Three painful centuries in and the nation is still under the reign of the Garhelian dynasty.

No longer able to bear the worsening tyranny, the citizens of Arlandia, more specifically those who have the resolve to act, decided to fight against this mad regime. It took them no time to form a resistance force, a rebellion that would eventually become the Garhelian dynasty's greatest threat - The Arlandian Liberation Front. In fact, they pose so much threat, that the Empire was forced to declare war against them - sparking the beginning of a lengthy, bloodstained civil war.


The Arlandian calendar dates to 703, and yet the war between the Empire and the Liberation Front continues to rage on.

The Empire, desperate to rid of the pestering rebellion, has been mass producing powerful artifacts called "Regalia", and handing them over to their troops. However, despite this advantage, the Liberation Front manages to hold on, and even obtain a fair share of "Regalia" from the Empire's defeated forces. With both sides armed with such powerful items, the time for the war's end is closing in.

The Liberation Front decides to blitz through this battle one last time, and attain freedom from Arlandia's undeserved tyranny.
The Empire opts to deploy their full force, and finish this foolish conflict.
 
  • This is where you come in.

    You are either from the Liberation Front, or from the Empire.

    As a member of the Liberation Front, you are entrusted with the task to reclaim lost territory - settlements that have succumbed to the Empire's forceful hand. You shall journey throughout the lands to certain locations, and vindicate those who have been imprisoned under the tyrannic rule. However your troop is but a mere fleck of dust compared to the Empire's - you lack number, firepower, and a lot more factors to make this job feel like a breeze. Thus, you must handle your resources carefully, and act quickly - your troop isn't the only one moving around.

    As a soldier of the Empire, your duty is to purge the rebellion - to hunt down resistance cells scattered throughout Arlandia, and rid them of their unnecessary existence, for they are no longer needed in this land. You will scour the lands for these treacherous ones, and restore the glory that belongs to the Empire. While your troop may be well equipped, the Liberation Front isn't an easy foe - they are hard to catch, and finding them is far more difficult. Not only that, but the nation is torn - the opinion of the citizens vary, some side with the resistance, some do not. You must regain the trust and the confidence of the Arlandian folk, all while preventing the Liberation Front from getting any further in their goals.

    Arlandia's fate is in your hands.

CS, Lore, OOC, and Misc threads will be up within the week, hopefully. If not, then I'll prioritize the necessities.
 
I have some questions:
1. Any specific settings for Arlandia's universe? Overall, what kind of tech is available? (I assume its the good ol' medieval, but just wanted to make sure, so that I don't waltz in CS with a musket)
2. Will the engagements be large-scale, conventional battles? Or are we, the players kinda huddle up as some sort of special force?
3. What are the restrictions on personal lore-building? (are we allowed to throw in some backstory for minor locations and histories?)

First and foremost, magic doesn't exist in Arlandia. That restriction, however, only befalls on Arlandia. Other places around the world, known as Gaia, might possible have magic. Although that would be quite irrelevant since you will all be playing as Arlandians (which include people from Quirsire), and not as foreigners.

As for the technology, it would be medieval level, with a little hint of steampunk here and there - like slight advancements in technology. It's going to get there in time, but for now, the doors for technological evolution isn't wide open.

2. Will the engagements be large-scale, conventional battles? Or are we, the players kinda huddle up as some sort of special force?

They will vary from time to time. However, I plan to make most of the battles in the first few portions of the RP to be short and small-scaled - think of skirmishes and guerrilla warfare.

3. What are the restrictions on personal lore-building? (are we allowed to throw in some backstory for minor locations and histories?)

Go wild, but not too wild. I'll step in when things get too convoluted or goes too far.
