The life of a monster isn't as easy and blank and white as fiction would lead you to believe. Many monster are not strong enough to survive on their own and require a master, who they must feed off of life energy from. Luckily for the master monster only need so much it's nothing harmful in return the master gains a completely loyal servant. Now let's say you pass a cute little pet shop and for some reason you go in. Inside you find two adorable puppies that catch your eyes but you sadly can only afford one. Do you take the cute energetic girl dog? 

Or do you prefer the quiet cute somewhat lazy boy dog? 

Which ever you choose be warned when night falls they shall stop being small cute puppies and transform into Werewolves!

I'd later introduce other monster who also have master as it would turn out the one your character picks up has a high bounty on their head.
