Are you a completionist?

A Regular Decorated Emergency
I absolutely adore The Legend of Zelda. Unfortunately, as of now, I've only played Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and part of Windwaker, but I'm working on getting emulators and stuff to finish other games. (There's just so many...)

Anyway, my friend picks on me because I'm an obsessive completionist. I spent an entire summer playing OoT making sure I got every chest, every side quest, every challenge...everything. And I've played TP through four times now trying to find and complete everything.

What about you guys? Are you a completionist or are you satisfied just completing the story? (Doesn't just have to be LoZ, I just haven't really finished any other games yet.)

You're already my best friend (*U*)

I'm usually content with completing the story, plus all the sidequests I can find. I usually don't actively hunt for hidden stuff because I just don't have the patience for that xD

The only games I've gone completely out of my way to beat were Spirit Tracks and Wind Waker HD, both of which I had to look up guides for because I'm not great at spotting hidden things. I managed to 100% Spirit Tracks, but for Wind Waker I eventually gave up because I couldn't find the single heart piece remaining anywhere, and there were no guides on the internet that were able to help me. Bleh (:#)

Yay!! (*U*) I actually have my own little mini-ocarina, too. Now I just need to learn how to play it properly. ^^;

Oh yeah, I have the same problem sometimes with not being able to find hidden stuff; I had to use a couple of guides to find stuff in Ocarina, too. I started playing Wind Waker again after I finished that (I started playing it first when I was just a little, little kid and didn't really know what to do with it), but then my emulator stopped working. ;-;

And I heard they discontinued the Game Cube quite some time ago, so, yeah. That actually made me really sad because there were actually two other games that I meant to finish on it--Beyond Good and Evil and Eternal Darkness (which scared the bejesus out of me on the regular, but it was still fun).

You have no idea how hard it is to find Zelda fans on this site xD Not only that, but Zelda fans that actually roleplay well. I've only met a couple.

Wind Waker's one of my favorites (^.^) People say it's childish and cartoony because of the cel-shading art style. I pose them this question: What cartoons (Not anime, because that's geared towards older audiences ( :P )) have the main character straight-up murder the main villain? Not many, that I'm aware of.

I can't imagine the GC served much of a purpose once the Wii came out, since it could emulate GC games without a problem. It kinda sucks, but I wouldn't really call it too big a deal. What sucks is that the Wii U can't also play GC games on top of Wii ones.

Hahaha xD Yeah, I kinda noticed that; most of the talk is about Overwatch lately, it seems.

That's actually an excellent point, now that I think about it. Like, these games do not fuck around with cartoon violence; go hard or go home. ( :P )

Oh yeah, I actually kind of forgot the Wii can do that...my biggest issue, though, is finding the games themselves. Since they discontinued the console, they don't sell the games anymore. At least, not that I've been able to find.

I'm a completionest only if the game allows me to be. I'll accept any sidequest as long as it is on the same path of the main quest or relatively near the destination I am heading to. Otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time on that side quest where I have to travel 300 KM away from my targeted destination.

Yeah, and really that's fine. I don't come here only for Zelda roleplays anyway ( :P ) It does bug me when someone gets Zelda lore wrong, though. I know it like the back of my hand xD

Pretty much, yeah. I don't understand people's need to categorize a game as good or bad based on its art style. You're free to dislike a game for its art style - I do that more than I'd like to admit, myself - but to say that a game sucks because it looks like a cartoon is silly. Same goes for pretty much anything, actually.

Ah, that's true. I guess with the console gone, companies don't feel the need to make any more discs for them. I didn't think about that :/

That's a pretty good point. I think that's part of the reason I actually played Twilight Princess multiple times; I wanted to finish the story first. Then again, I don't have much of a life anyway so I don't mind wasting some time to get the reward in question.

I agree; my friend and I have been playing Catherine recently. The art style is bordering on ridiculous, honestly, but it's still an interesting game, and the puzzles are really fun.

Yeah xD That's part of the reason it's my least favorite too, but the main reason is mostly by association because of family troubles.

I complete 100% games that i like or are fun super entertaining/satisfying to play no matter what you're doing (just messing around or to playing serious) I have completed a few 3DS games,DS games but im mainly a SONY type of guy (have pretty much every sony console lol)

The first time through a game? Definitely not. The first time I play a game, I'm usually too excited to see where the plot goes to finish everything; however, I almost always play games all the way through multiple times and after the first time, yes, I am very much a person who needs to complete everything.

Like me and my friends, we gather one of every item in either a Fallout or Elder Scroll game, and with the F4 endings, now do every plot choice. This lead to a bit over 1000 hours put into each game on release. Other than that, I don't over complete.

Besides Assassin's Creed.

Yes, in games where you can collect quantities of items I tend to try and keep one of everything, too xD I don't go completely out of my way to do so, but it's fun to see how much I can collect.

Omg I totally will not move on to a next weapon if I don't have full mastery on the previous one.... Same for like quests and skills... (A lot of games) irl too

I admire all of you who are completionists, but I just can't seem to muster the stamina to go through EVERY single treasure hunt, side quest, etc...UNLESS it somehow adds to or ties back to the overarching narrative of the game. For example, I'll do a Companion quest in Skyrim because it adds to the legend of the Dragonborn; I won't do a "trek around and explore the map for armor" quest because I don't feel as if it adds to the story itself.

Does that make sense? Don't want to come off as a snob xD

No, it makes perfect sense. xD I just do the "trek around the map for stuff" because it makes the overall gameplay (and boss battles) easier, and because I just get this nagging feeling that I haven't "finished" the game if I haven't, you know...finished everything.

Fair enough! Kinda having that feeling myself with the Witcher 3. All those little points on the map that haven't been explored seem to beckon... xD

And here's hoping that the NX comes out soon so that you and the other nine bajillion Zelda fans can have a mind blowing next gen game.

Agghhhh I know! I always get so torn whenever there's a new Zelda game though; I'm so excited because YES MORE ZELDA but I'm also kinda sad because I'm broke and there's so much more to catch up on.
