First Day
-
Why some accepted? To learn new skills and become the top of their field whether it be fighting, healing, magic item creation, politics, art or any other field; to spy on the FWO and it's doings, and others out of sheer curiosity. Regardless of the reason, the day of the ceremony each person who accepted was transported to the academy of their continent along with their lugguge and any friends and family who wished to watch some exceptions exist however only those who are the exceptions would know of this.
Upon arriving at the various schools they were met with a large airship made of a fusion of modern plane technology, steampunk zeppelin's, and copious amounts of magic for one of the oddest looking but fasted air transportation methods currently on the planet. Workers of the schools assisted in loading the student's luggage while people piled into the airships. Depending on the locations the flight lasted anywhere from a half an hour to several hours, but regardless of where everyone was from everyone arrived early in the morning allowing time to prepare for the ceremony. Magic was dispensed to help with those suffering from Jet lag, and soon everyone was piled out of the ship. On their way out each student was given a yellow cloak with the schools crest emblazoned above the heart.
Students and families were split up allowing families to find spots along the path of the ceremony procession, and giving students time to use the changing room to get into more formal wear if they so chose (though many did due to the parents requests). Some also had to enter to put their cloaks on due to anatomical issues with just putting it on normally. Thankfully a multitude of changing rooms had been set up for that very purpose. Everything went smoothly bar few minor incidents (of students attempting to peak, and the mages in charge finding and catching them [they were swiftly given their first strike on the school record]) everything was prepared for the students to finally arrive at school.
"You who step upon this bridge take the first step to breaking down boundaries."
"Though from different worlds we may come, we come together now."
"Not as people of different worlds or members of different races, but magicians"
"Through study we gain power, through patience we gain wisdom"
"Through perseverance we achieve greatness, through mana we make the impossible possible."
"Through magic we unite to forge a greater future and mend that which has been broken"
And as you approach the school itself the final inscription glows, and you feel you can understand the ancient language which seems much like Latin. "Arcus Remedium, Place of Great Mending"
You make small talk with others and get to know a little about each other, perhaps you gaze upon the art and architecture in great wonder, maybe you slowly walk along confused at the entire spectacle, perhaps you do something else, a mix of the former, or perhaps you just keep your head down and shuffle along. Regardless you find your time soon slipping away and you soon arrive at the main hall. You see the upper classmen piling into seating prepares for them near the front of the room.- After some time you eventually find your seat, having been given a chance to marvel at the great hall and notice some of it's details. One such detail were parts of the floor were lowered and out of view from everyone for now. Before anyone has time to truly ponder on the why's, the headmaster and headmistress walked onto the stage. Azilect the Sage, an ancient gold dragon who has spent a lifetime collecting knowledge on magic, and Lilith Arcadia, the first human archmage able to reach a rank close to Azilect thanks to his tutelage.
"Greeting students, and welcome to Arcus Remedium the foremost college of magic. I am Azilect the Sage, I am proud to be your headmaster and to serve as one of your teachers and mentors. While the merge of our worlds has cost us much and many have been lost, we must not dwell in the past lest we lose sight of the future, indeed much was lost, however much has also been gained, so fret not. The technology of this world and the magic of the world before, we have made leaps and bounds in research in all fields of study and we have opened up this school with professionals of all fields who I am proud to present!" He declares with a powerful voice.
As his speech ends the empty spaces in the floor are now filled with a rising platform presenting a multitude of teachers, he goes down the list reading off about a hundred names before turning to Lilith. "And last but certainly not least I am delighted hand off the stage to your headmistress, Lilith Arcadia." And so the ceremony continued on for a half hour, while normally most students would grow bored with such a long speech, each word that came from the headmaster and headmistress seemed to be like a piece of a grand poem as the enchanted words held on interest to all but the most simple and iron willed. Soon the ceremony is over and teachers head to each of the 160 groups to take them all to different banquet halls. - There are now only 100 of you left and a small salamander man approaches with a smile. His mouth opens out and with a Shakespearean accent he procliams: "With most wondrous jubilation I doth greeteth thee! I shall bee'st thine homeroom teacher this year. How lucky thou art, for I doth be the head' of arcane studies. I doth be the Salamancer, and only shouldst bee'st referred to as such. Cometh yee, followeth me to thine welcometh banquet held in thy honor!" He states with an excited voice before he proceeds to lead the group towards a nearby door which for a split second appeared to have a wall behind it before you blinked and saw a grand hall within. The teacher made his way towards the head chair and each student starts fillinw out the line of chairs. The empty dance section in the middle is soon populated by dancers heading into the art program and people soon cheer. You find yourself free to do as you please now.
