Fantasy Apocalyptic (Always Accepting)

UnknownOrigin

Becca's Babeh
The year is 2019. At first, it was contained. One science experiment gone wrong, one person affected. Then it spread. It felt like anything could spread the virus. A bite, a scratch, infected blood in your system. So easy, especially when you didn't realize you had to avoid it. Within a week, a million people were infected. In a month, half a billion. In three months, it seemed like the entire world was on the streets, groaning in their undead slumber. Not everyone was like that, of course. Many had died during the struggle without getting infected. Some actually survived for a while. Never for long, it seemed.

My name is Jesse Calloway. And this is my story.

JESSE

Jesse looked around suspiciously, pistol in one hand, knife in the other. He heard shuffling nearby, and raised the silenced pistol. The second he caught a glance of decaying flesh, he pulled the trigger, watching with satisfaction as the bullet hit right in the middle of the dead creature's head. "Dead bastard." He growled, kicking the corpse. He strode past it, searching the house and throwing the canned items in his messenger bag. Before he left, he slammed a door, waiting. "Hey! Dead guys!" He shouted, waiting. None appeared. Empty, then. Fantastic. Jesse stowed his pistol, walking out of the house.

HARLEY

Harley kicked her motorcycle into gear. It was, of course, a Harley Davidson, her pride and joy. She had just raided a small gun store, and found a few hidden boxes of ammo. She was good at finding hidden shit that nobody wanted found. Old Playboys, guns, ammo. People. She was on her own at the moment, and had no immediate plans to change that fact. Not that there was an opportunity anyways.

Ashe

Ashe walked over the streets. It was deserted and quiet. She didn't exactly knew how, but till this day she was still alive. She considered herself lucky. Extremely lucky. Especially since killing zombies was not something she liked doing. She rather avoided them. She stopped walking when she heard a gunshot. She looked around, wondering where it came from. It was close. With her knife in her hand, she started walking towards the sound. She hadn't seen a living human being in a few days and she desperately wanted company. Besides, you were stronger if you weren't alone. Another sound was hearable. The slamming of a door. She started walking faster and stopped when she saw a guy walking out of a house. "If you keep up the noise, they are definitely coming for you," she said giggling. That was one thing she knew. Zombies loved the sound of noise.

JESSE

Jesse whirled around, gun raised, at the sound of the voice. A girl was laughing at him. "That's the point. I have ammo to spare, decided to cut down the population." He said coldly, no amusement in his gaze. "Now I'm wondering what's to stop me from doing the same to you." She didn't look like much. No weapons in sight, thin and wispy. He could take her easily.

Ashe

Ashe raised her eyebrow and crossed her arms. "Now you have ammo to spare," she started, "but in a few months you won't. You wanna be careful with it." The army stopped saving civilisation a long time ago. Everybody had to take care of himself. He looked quite tense. Slowly she started walking toward him. "Maybe the fact that it's humanity against zombies. Not humanity against humanity. Unfortunately I am afraid I can't change your mind if you really want to kill me. I am surprised I am not dead already." She smiled slightly. "Look, I will just leave you be. You don't seem like you wanna be disturbed."

JESSE

Jesse tucked his gun away and stared the girl down. "I'm not worried about my ammo usage. I have quite the stockpile. What about you, huh? You seem very empty-handed." Jesse noticed, trying to tone down the hostility. This was the first seemingly friendly person he'd met. Well, not the first. There had been that girl on the motorcycle who was a bit too friendly.

Ashe

Ashe showed her knife and then pulled up her shirt, showing a colt python. It used to be her dads. It was one of the most precious things she possesed since the apocalypse had started. "I am armed. I just don't wave my gun around, like some people." Obviously she meant him. "I rather use it in emergencies. Try not to get too much attention from zombies." She lowered her shirt again, so the revolver disappeared. She was still walking towards the guy. When she was just a few meters away, she stopped. "I am Ashe by the way."

JESSE

"I'm Jesse. Don't call me Jess." He said simply, offering no explanation. His eyes were fixed on her gun. "That's a hell of a gun you have there, Ashe. But it doesn't look very used. Have you shot anything since this started?" He asked, bewildered.

HARLEY

Harley had done some serious customization of the motorcycle. As silent as it would ever get so she didn't get too much attention. She started to ride back to her little area, parking her bike, when she heard voices. One familiar voice, one not as much. She crept toward it, pulling out her favorite pistol. She peeked around a corner and saw them, a guy and a girl, conversing on the streets. She pulled out another gun and held them up, walking out. "There are much safer places to talk, you know." She called cockily.

Ashe

Ashe grinned. At least she had a name, which was nice. She nodded proudly, but her face turned blank when he asked her about using it. She knew how to handle a gun. She knew the ins and the outs, but she hadn't used it yet. Somehow she didn't feel like telling it. She felt like it would make her look like an idiot. She bit on the inside of her cheek. "Let's say that I haven't had to use my gun. Yet." She added the last word quickly. Since the whole outbreak had started, she had killed about four zombies. She was just running from the rest. She turned around when she heard another voice. It was a woman. "Oh really?" she asked sarcastically, "I had no idea."

HARLEY

"Ooh, feisty. I like that in a woman. And a man, I'm not picky. Speaking of, how's life, Jesse?" Harley asked, flipping her hair as she appraised the man.

JESSE

"Full of dead people, thanks for asking." Jesse replied nonchalantly. "Now, Harley, don't make me shoot you. It'd be a real waste of ammo." He continued, fingering his pistol slightly.

Ashe

She smiled as she watched the woman getting closer. Then she turned to Jesse. "I guess you already learned not to waste your ammo." She winked at him, crossing her arms once again.

JESSE

"Not on someone who has no intention of shooting us. Not her style. She'll shoot if she has to, but she prefers to stab, and she wouldn't hurt me. She likes me too much. Isn't that right, Harley?" He called. The girl put her guns away and began to approach them.

Ashe

Ashe smiled. That girl sounded a lot like her. She also rather used her knife. It did mean you had to get up close, which she absolutely disliked. Yet it made less noise. She put her hair up a bun and smiled at the girl. "Nice meeting you, Harley. I am Ashe."

HARLEY

"Well, aren't you sweet? I prefer sour." Harley smirked, stowing her pistols and sauntering confidently toward the group. "So, what are you two idiots sitting here discussing in the middle of the streets? A group? A partnership?" She winked at Jesse as she said the word partnership, and it was immediately obvious she meant more than professionally.

Ashe

Ashe looked from Harley to Jesse, frowning. It looked like Harley was quite into Jesse. She had to admit he was not bad looking, but she wasn't sure if she was interested in someone who had pointed a gun at her. Ashe pushed her hands on her hips and shrugged. "Oh you know, just discussing the weather." She smiled, "so you two are traveling together?"

JESSE

"We did for about a week. Then I snuck away. She's a bit terrifying, actually." Jesse noted. "If you're interested in her, she's open to just about anyone moving and alive." Jessesaid sarcastically, staring at Harley.

Ashe

Ashe crossed her arms. They looked like some kids who were picking at each other. "No thanks," she said, before looking at Harley. "Not to be rude but I prefer the male over female." She smiled lightly, before pushing her hands in her pants.

HARLEY

"Ooh, all yours, Jesse. Lucky you." Harley instantly reverted to her post-rejection attitude. More sarcastic than usual. She hated seeing Jesse's smug smile at her getting turned down. "I've decided that I'm going to hold off for a while anyways. Build up a foundation of friendship like I'm supposed to." She lied.

Ashe

Ashe raised her eyebrow. She had no idea what exactly what was going on, but it kinda confused her. "In all honesty, the last thing I am thinking about right now is relationships and more about surviving this god damn mess." She played with her knife before putting it in its holster. "So you guys got room for one more person?" She wasn't sure if she should've been asking it that quickly, but she didn't wanna keep going on, on her own.

HARLEY

Another person? Damn, she wasn't even sure if she wanted to get Jesse back. He was unreliable. Jesse seemed to be hesitating as well.

JESSE

"I'll take you in. As for Harley..." Jesse looked at the girl across the street. "Keep your hands to yourself and your clothes on." He warned. Harley smirked.

"No promises."

Ashe

Ashe nodded. "Thank you. I am kinda done being on my own." She wasn't sure how long she could survive with the two of them, but if it would get too much, she could always leave them.

JESSE

Jesse nodded. He was sick of being alone anyways. "So who has a livable base?" He asked. He had a fantastic area, but he wasn't willing to trust her yet. Harley already knew where it was, but she stayed silent, thankfully. For once.

Ashe

Ashe shook her head. "I just walk around everyday and see where I end up. I don't have a home anymore." That she was actually on her way to find her dad, was a point she wouldn't mention right now. "I just find buildings, make sure they're empty and sleep in there."

It wasn't the most amazing thing to do, but she had to do something. She had to sleep somewhere.

HARLEY

She knew she was the next to make an excuse. "I sleep in my RV. Just two beds, although I'd be happy to share with Jesse here." She said. Jesse looked a bit uncomfortable, and she laughed. "I'm kidding, pretty boy. I suggest we take a leaf from Ms. Sweetheart's book and find an empty building." Of course she had a place to stay. Nobody knew where, and she had no intentions of changing that.

Ashe

Ashe smiled lightly from Jesse to Harley. This was going to be interesting. At least Harley did not seem to give up. Ashe grabbed her knife out of its holster and looked at the both of them. "I am fine with that idea. It is getting late and it would be wise to find a place before it gets too dark."
