So basically someone tried to kill Felix. Instead of shooting Felix someone slipped a poison into his food. This poison though is actually a very powerful sleep agent that slowed down his heart significantly. So he would be shipped to the morgue. Then prepared for the funeral. Then that's it he's dead. Too felixe's luck before the whole embalming process there was the outbreak.

Sugar itself lasts 2 years, or so the Internet says; while dark chocolate can last pretty much a year and white and milk chocolate will last 8-10 months. And candy usually has a lot of chemicals mixed in it which could make them last longer. But I could think about something else if it seems too unbelievable.
