Anyone interested in a (Literate/Dedicated) fantasy RP? -"Contrived Persuasion" -

Neliel

One Time Luck
I will (potentially) save you some reading... since I'm so nice. This is a mystery of sorts. You won't know very much. However, you are a very important person in this roleplay. As such, you can be very creative in your perception of how the world works, so long as it makes sense with the initial setting I laid out.

Or, because plot twists are so much fun, the world could be completely different than I perceive it--and the setting could be rather false. It's your city. Do with it what you will.

This takes place after the apocalypse--we were destroyed by another world, you know--and civilization was restored with a utopic, authoritarian government.

--1+ paragraph posts. No exceptions. Consider 1 paragraph to be equivalent to a one line reply, but don’t kill yourself to give me 8 paragraphs. Just meet the minimum and we’ll get along just fine.

--you must write in third person.

--I’ll be honest...I may drop you after the first post if your writing style is not compatible with my own. Although, you should know if it’s not after you read my plot summary.

--Personal pet peeve: try not to begin every sentence with a personal pronoun, please. Do your best.

--------------------------------------------------------

Violence, complete dishonesty, profanity, satire, dark themes, sarcasm, betrayal, plot twists, WTF moments, awkward moments, inconsiderate gestures, side characters, death, intricate backstories, complex/contradictory characteristics, fantasy, immorality, romance, obscure vocabulary, and the like are thoroughly permitted and encouraged. Make it dark and amusing. Don’t be afraid of upsetting me or screwing with my character, for I will most definitely do the same to you. Hell, you can go completely crazy with your unannounced surprises. Have fun.

-Contrived Persuasion-

Centuries ago, the rebirth project saved us all. No one knew exactly what it was, but they all knew it saved them. It made life possible for everyone who survived the war.

God… the war.

It was a dreadful war. Balls of fire dropped from cars that flew overhead. Metal insects flew at high speeds from handheld tubes—again and again and again—killing millions. Those who survived the bombs and gunfire had to face biological warfare. Thanks to the nuclear bombs, smallpox returned with a new vengeance. The strain had mutated to be even more horrendous. Those who managed to overcome those weapons of war had to suffer human nature. Panic spread, causing a new disease to emerge. Madness. The violence was unbearable before, but after the madness… it was too much to bear. Most of humanity was wiped out in that nameless war.

But we survived.

It was all thanks to the government. They started the REBIRTH project. They found soldiers to fight the battles for us—they sent stronger beings not bound by morality. Thanks to REBIRTH, we survived.

But the damage had been done. We needed to make sure it would never happen again. A war of two worlds was too damaging. War was too damaging. It meant a rebirth of our nations. It was good this time—but who can say if we’ll be so lucky next time? There’s no guarantee.

The world was reborn into what it is today. There is no crime. No darkness. No weapons. No war. No hate. Just light.

We stay in our cities and forsake darkness. It no longer exists. And it’s all thanks to our government.

The rebirth project saved us. We picked up the pieces and made our own utopia as the soldiers disappeared. Our world is perfect now. Perfect.

As the overseer’s daughter, you grew up hearing speeches just like this. It was true what they said… but it still gets tiresome after hearing it enough times. Why care about rebirth for so long? All those soldiers were dead now. The program was dead now. You had no use for it anymore. Everything was perfect.

Or so you thought.

One day, your father calls you in his office. Once there, you learn something a little unexpected. A scouting ship—from another world—landed this morning. Though no immediate threats have been made, another war looms on the horizon. But this time, it will be much worse.

You know the citizens couldn’t possibly fight in a war. It sounded absolutely terrible. Forming an army was out of the question. Your father thought so as well. He wouldn’t dare put his people in harm’s way.

Not when there was an obvious alternative.

Send some new soldiers from project rebirth.

What? Naturally, you have many questions. But your father will hear none of them. He asks you to do him a favor. The commander—bones, as they call him—was stationed in another city. The soldiers would be weary of fighting another war. Who wouldn’t be? Anyone who heard stories of the last one would know that wars suck. But if you could convince the commander, the others would undoubtedly follow. You’re a lovely young woman, innocent in the ways of war. He would sooner listen to you than a dogmatic old man. So go on. A room will be arranged for you in the city. You can come home when you convince bones.
So... anyone?

It's an interesting plot; I'll give you that much. It definitely has pizzazz...most of the roleplay drabbles I read are so dreary. I'd be interested.

Pizzaz, huh? I'm so sorry. Ive broken the norm. Now the bots will come after me.

Oh god. No. Not again. Oh god.

I tried to be mundane. Honestly. I swear I did. It was supposed to be a dreary summary. I tried so hard this time. But it turned into that.

They'll find me for sure this time. Oh god.

Pretend you didn't see anything.

On a more serious note...

Hello, and welcome to my thread. Thank you for your interest in my plot.

*shock face*

There are TWO of you!? You mean I really caught two of them?

This. Is. Serious.

I'm afraid there's no other alternative.

Melix, Nightmare--

You will now engage in a battle to the death.

Winner takes all.

Yeah, so, its pretty simple. Both of you masterfully fling together a first post, and I pick the one that speaks to me.

Quite literally. Last time this one threatened to haunt me, and I picked the other one, so it totally started haunting me. *chills*

Now for the speech.

UHG. Lethargic phones are not my style.

I like revealing things in-post. That's why I cut half the original plot summary out! Obviously. Skellie is just name and appearance. But make sure there's more to your character than that--just don't tell me.

You could opt to withhold the name, if you wish to be mysterious or lie.

You can begin however you see fit. Conversing with the overseer; traversing the wasteland in a heavily lighted, white van; outside your room--or bones' room, talking to a hobo... It's all up to you! No pressure! It's not like you lives depend on it or anything!

Oh, wait...

*clears throat*

That was awkward. Lets move on.

If you so choose, I could write an opening post for whatever scenario you conjure up to start it. From my character's perspective, of course. I'm not going to bail you out that easily.

Or you could just jump in.

Best of luck to ye both.
