Chitchat Any Weird Fears?

Having the blinds closed at night.

Conjoined with my fear of the dark.

It just... I guess if something's coming for me I'd rather see it? xD

@Kalessin @DescriptedEnd Same, I kinda sorta have social anxiety but it's usually more or less okay until I have to talk to some authority figure and then I just freak out, and I don't know why because normally they're super nice people. So glad I'm not the only one xD

5) Small, tiny holes, next to each other. I believe this phobia is for real but idk what it is called.

It's trypophobia! But don't google that unless you have images turned off or something, since all the image results are basically things tailor made to get the skin of trypophobes crawling right off.

My main fear is death, which I suppose isn't that weird. I just feel like my life hasn't gone anywhere yet and I don't want to die before I get my shit together.

Pigeons. Ever since I can remember I've been deathly afraid of pigeons. It's awful since I live in a city with lots of them. I'll go out of my way to avoid them and whenever I see them I get very panicked. I don't know why. I love owls and other birds of prey, but if you make me go near a pigeon I'll freak out.

I have a very, VERY specific childhood fear that still sends chills down my spine

All from a Rugrats movie.

Fudging. Inside-out. Clay. Children.

I had nightmares because of this fudging thing, I honestly don't know why.

I pictured it much, MUCH worse when I was younger, to say the least.

I still remember watching the Rugrats movie and seeing this.

I think I started crying.

Oh yes, I also avoided swing sets for a very long time too...

Not the worst of fears, but... By god I had an awful imagination.

I forgot all about this dang thing. I never saw the Rugrats movie but I definitely saw the inside-out clay kid and the swing set. It used to air on Nickelodeon sometimes, I think during commercial breaks. I wasn't very fond of it either, haha.

Stressful situations.

Except i play Airsoft frequently, which mimics combat.

And as Pulse in RSS (Rainbow Six Siege) Says, "In a life-threatening situation, an average persons heartbeat is upwards of 175 beats per minute. A well-trained tango is able to keep cool, stay calm. Their heartbeats can be 70, to 100 beats per minute." So, i guess i'm LIKE those Well trained tangos when i play Airsoft.

@Collie Faxroux I was gonna say trypophobia when I saw this thread, guess I'll just second off yours because it's so icky...and weird

I remember as a kid I'd complain to my mom whenever we walked because of all the cracks I saw on the streets. ("Ah! Mommy there's another one!") I can keep it together now xD but my brain still splits everytime I see one.

@MoltenLightning the eyes on that picture are kinda doing it haha, veins are another really good example

I guess another weird one is disproportionate scaling. I've seen this a couple times in some video games. Like if you're fighting npcs and as they get tougher the models simply get bigger. This is a must avoid, even worse than trypophobia. It's just too damn creepy...no agario for me.

Not heights as in flying or anything. Only if I have to climb it myself. Ladders, trees, stairs, etc. things like that. I get very nervous.

I used to be a true germaphobe (until the end of HS)

I'd start like hyperventilating if people touched me or would try to make me touch/handle something "dirty". I pretty much considered touching anyone's skin to be dirty. I was also funny about sitting on other peoples couches or using a blanket that someone else might have used without washing it.

It was just weird, and people mercilessly attacked me with nastiness until I got over it. People would lick me or sit on me just to get a laugh about the way I reacted to it. O_o

Bullying at its finest. But it eventually worked xD

A fear of mold might be a little out of the norm, haha.

@Enuky K Ooooh. o: ! May I ask if there was any particular way that you got over your phobia, did it resolve itself or...? The reason I ask is that I have a character with a similar-ish phobia and I like to be as Informed™ as I can be ya' feel me. LOL if you aren't comfortable answering that's totally fine we good we gucci

Well it was a number of things.

People forcibly sitting on me and licking me in HS when they discovered my problem certainly helped (that wasn't a joke... xD )

I think the next thing that got me over it was just life. I went to college and had to pay my own bills and stuff and so that made me get over being afraid of things like food that has touched the table or that someone else has touched

Another factor was the first boyfriend that "touching" involved (also in college-- too gross before then)

One thing I will say is that even though I can take "nastiness" now I still ALWAYS think about it. I still associate things like blankets and couches with dirtiness, and I still prefer not to touch people. Basically, my dislike of the things that are dirty is still ever-present, but I've learned not to have physical reactions to it.

Strangest one? I love aquariums , sea creatures..

But if I have a dream about being in an aquarium I'll wake up pretty damn scared. I also fear a giant whale bursting from underneath my shower and swallowing me when I take such a shower (specifically when my eyes get closed).

Also , for whatever reason I fear something being between my room and bathroom when I get up at night.

Fuck , I don't know what I would do if somebody dressed as that motherfucker and sat in my hallway at night. Whether or not I would beat the shit out of him/it or just collapse and start crying , I don't know.

What makes it odder is that I fucking love those guys , even wanting the action figure.

Er , lose control Persay.

I hope I didn't give anyone else ridiculous fears of things I actually really like.

Realistic anthropomorphic animals. You know, furries and stuff... I actually find them real cute when they're drawn in a cartoony style, but if I imagine a real animal's head on a human body I will be seriously creeped out. This actually extends to any sort of thing that looks mostly human but has this one glaring thing that's off about them (animal parts, extremely wide grin, stitches keeping something on the body --I would hate having to have stitches on any part of my body, that would be disturbing --, mangled gorey bits, etc.) but I think anthro animals is the most obscure part of it? That or stitches.

I am afraid of Aquariums. I can't walk into them without freaking out. I can swim, I don't mind fish, but wide open tanks of water terrify me.

My trypophobia stemmed from those lotus seed pictures, scared the ever living fuck out of me. I got over those and any other form of trypophobia doesn't scare me. Recently I've been watching Corpse Husband and have trouble sleeping at night, so I'm going to have to find some way to get over it.
