Futuristic Another Harry's Bar [ Walk-in | Always Open ]

OOC
Here
Cassie grinned at Harry’s words, her eyes flickering with a mix of excitement and mischief. “Oh, you bet I’m gonna check this out! A magical room that adjusts to me? Sounds like the coolest thing ever!” She tugged on Andrew’s arm, urging him forward.

“Come on, Andy! Let’s see where this takes us. I bet your room’s gonna have, like, stacks of newspapers and one of those old typewriters for all your serious journalist vibes.” Her laughter echoed lightly as they followed the glowing path their cards provided.

Andrew sighed but allowed himself to be pulled along. “Fine. But if the room starts talking to me, I’m out.”

“Deal,” Cassie replied with a playful salute.

Location: The Mora Hotel
Character: Environment
Interactions: All active Characters
Mentions: Northe Northe (Ryatt)

The Mora Hotel fell eerily still as the transition began. Outside the guests' rooms, the vibrant life of the hotel seemed to drain away. Once pulsing softly with inviting light, hallways flickered like dying embers before going completely dark. The intricate wood panelling, polished floors, and warm decor dissolved into a shapeless void, a disconcerting absence of space and substance.

Occasionally, faint flashes of the hotel's structure reappeared, ghostly fragments of its former self—brief glimmers of walls, faint outlines of doorways—only to vanish again into the consuming blackness. It was as though the hotel was being unmade and reformed, its reality folding and unfolding in disjointed fragments. Yet, the rooms where the guests resided remained untouched. Inside, all was calm. The protective glow of the room's ambient light shielded them from the void beyond, insulating them in a cocoon of warmth and quiet. No sound reached them, and no flicker of instability disrupted the stillness.

As the Mora Hotel flickered and dimmed, its once-solid halls dissolving into fragmented shadows, Ryatt and Thorne stood in a shifting void. The light around them pulsed faintly before fading completely, leaving only a weightless darkness that seemed to stretch endlessly. Neither of them had time to speak, question, or move, as the space around them gave way entirely.
There was no sensation of falling, no pull of gravity—only a sudden, overwhelming blackness. Their awareness seemed to flicker, much like the hotel itself, and then it was gone.

Time passed without measure. Minutes or hours—perhaps even longer—drifted in a haze. The darkness beyond the rooms indicated no movement or change, only an infinite, oppressive void.

Then, softly, a voice broke the silence. It was calm, measured, and quiet enough to feel like a whisper carried directly to the ear:
"The transition is complete. You may now leave your rooms."

The previously dimmed lights on the doors glowed again, illuminating the threshold with a soft, steady radiance. The void beyond had been replaced by familiar, inviting hallways, the Mora Hotel seemingly restored to its former grandeur. The faint hum of life returned to the structure, and though everything appeared as it had before, there was an undeniable stillness in the air, a quiet suggestion that something had shifted in its depths.

In his hesitation and disorientation, Jasper could have stood upon the threshold longer if not for the bird’s quick and precise movements. As he watched the beautiful creature, he hesitated for a moment longer, looking down at the card in his hand, then at the lights along the baseboards. They grounded him as they led a path through the strange and uncertain lights. At the bird’s beckoning call, his wings fluttered in response, but where they lacked the opportunity to get him where he wanted to go, his taloned feet picked up the slack.

He hurried along, careful to remain with the bird always in his sight and the glowing light always beneath his feet. He kept the card clutched close to his chest, frightened he might drop it. Despite everything, the guiding lights and the guiding bird, Jasper feared the flickering lights. They were so bright, so sudden, and every time they flashed, despite there being a distinct pattern, it caught him off guard every time.

He was immensely grateful when the bird finally stopped upon a door handle. He practically threw himself into the safer, warmer, and inviting light of the room. He clung to the door as he looked back out, sad to see the bird go.

“Thank you!” He called out toward it. “I hope to… see you again soon! Good bye!” And without waiting another moment he slammed the door shut and stood there for a moment, letting his eyes and his mind relax from the onslaught of flickering and flashing.

A small doubt had started to creep in his mind about the safety and security of this place. However, as he looked up to properly assess where he had ended up, that doubt promptly fell to the wayside. This little room was everything the terrifying hallway was not. It was soft and warm, calm, sturdy, and well… comfortable. The lights themselves that illuminated the room were glowing warmly, in a way that was steady and strong like a well-made candle. It reminded him of home.

His True Home, not where he lived now. Not even anywhere he’d been for a while. It was immensely comforting to be back in a safer space. Yes, this had to be a safer space. Safer than the hallways at least. Jasper chose to lay down flat on the floor and fling his wings out wide. From there, he stared up at the warm ceiling and at some point among his vague spinning thoughts fell asleep.

Upon hearing the calm message, Jasper blinked open his eyes. He sat up and muffled a yawn while stretching out his wings. That was rather stressful. He hoped he wouldn’t have to experience those flashing lights again. But now that he knew a little more about how the room and card systems worked, he resolved to explore a little more, and come back to the room later. For now, he wanted to go talk with someone and get rid of this gnawing distant feeling. Perhaps if he could chat about someone else’s experience in the flashing lights he wouldn’t feel so… disturbed about it. So.. where did he think he had the best chance to find someone?

The Smoking Mirror probably. Jasper stood around a few more minutes, collecting himself, before he very slowly and carefully opened the door. The hallway looked entirely the same as before, though felt a little odd, but Jasper was just going to trust the message that it was safe. He pulled his wings close behind him, and spun the card around to rub his thumb across to feel the welcoming message to the bar. Feeling not much more reassurance, he hurried off to follow the halls and locate the bar.

Cassie practically burst out of their room, her excitement palpable as she took in the restored hallway. She spun in place, her card clutched tightly in one hand.

“Andy, did you feel that? Like, whoa! I swear, it was like being in a dream where everything’s all floaty and weird!” Her voice echoed faintly down the hall. She turned to him, her eyes wide with wonder. “Do you think we missed something super cool?”

Andrew, who emerged with considerably less enthusiasm, straightened his jacket and glanced around. “If by ‘super cool,’ you mean mildly terrifying, then yes.” He adjusted his tie, his eyes narrowing as he looked down the hallway. “Something’s different. The air feels… heavier.”

Cassie waved him off with a laugh. “Oh, come on, Mr. Doom and Gloom. Lighten up! We’re still here, right? And Harry said everything was fine. I mean, she wouldn’t lie to us. Robots are, like, programmed to tell the truth or something.”

Andrew rubbed his temple, clearly debating whether to correct her understanding of robotics. “Cassie, let’s just stick together and see what’s changed. The hotel doesn’t exactly scream stable environment.”

“Fine, fine,” Cassie said, rolling her eyes. “But only if we explore! This place probably got a level-up, and I wanna see what’s new!”

Together, they moved down the hall, following the gentle hum of the restored hotel, the faint scent of jasmine and aged wood accompanying their steps.
