In Grade Five, she became conscious of her flawed attitude, and altered it—beginning firstly by maintaining her silence and making an effort to listen, which has since become her most natural state—to one more gracious, permitting, and much more similar to her typical manner today. Nowadays, she converses politely, and, especially since the transition from elementary to high school and a few new beginnings there, no-one has had much reason to hold any particular ill-will towards her. To this day, however, remnants of her overtly condescending manner manifest in her fondness of indulging in—and, more often than not, gleefully sharing, much to the confusion of others—whichever elitist jokes happen to be present on her newsfeeds.

It'll depend on when and if my sign-up receives the GM's approval. There are a few things to note, however. When I describe Miya as "studious", I mean to say that she actually would be considered a social recluse of sorts. With the exception of co-curricular activities, mealtimes and library visits, she is rarely seen outside on weekends; often, this is because she is too lazy to step foot out of her room, but she does take her studies abnormally seriously, and I am aware that this will severely limit her number of appearances in the actual RP (especially during the designated weekends, unless everyone happens to be having an exam revision session). One might ask how she knows anything at all about her classmates, but rest assured that she has other methods of keeping herself more-or-less 'in the loop'.


I personally have no objections to your character, but the main trouble --should we, for now, disregard the law currently in place in Japan which prohibits smoking for anyone under the age of twenty--is that, given the known dangers in passive smoking, I can't see Miya being entirely comfortable with someone who does it regularly, much less a boy. Forgive me, but I have an impression that she has, up until now, shared her dorm room exclusively with girls. If Satsuki is as much of a recluse as Miya, it will be difficult for him to go without a cigarette for long, and, unless there is a secret location within the school where he can head any time he is in need of one, will end up smoking in the dorm room. He can hardly stand just outside the room to do so.


I would prepare for a series of only mildly humorous episodes in which Miya contacts the principal (or whichever department within the school organises these things) in an attempt, unsuccessful or not, to change her allocated roommate whilst adamantly avoiding presenting in her reasons for doing so anything related to underage smoking--that is, unless the principal knows and understands, in which case I'm going to turn to the GM real quick and ask for help.


After all that above, please do tell me what you think! :3 I may have missed some things, but I made an effort to cover all of the 'terms' (and not altogether pleasant ones, unfortunately) involved in rooming with her, so to speak.

Personality: Blair's simplest and most defining characteristics are her maternal nature, her unconditional kindness and her calm and polite disposition. Always one to show sincere concern and kindness towards others, she always makes a point to at least be civil to anyone she meets. Be it friend, foe or otherwise, she can never really not care about anything. She also strongly believes in proper behavior, manners and presentation. She takes great measures to appear respectable and modest and her manner of speech is refined, giving her an air of sophistication and nobility. Her manners are such that one might even feel undignified in their own presence.


She is soft-spoken and maintains a relaxed and patient attitude. She does have a breaking point, but it is a fuse drenched in water. She tries her best to respond to blatant hostilities with only witty passive-aggressive remarks. But when her patience does snap? Well, she will appear exponentially colder, but the most defining change will be the change in her vocabulary. Her words will be rife with more...brashly colorful language. Her constant concern for others can also be a double-edged blade as, apart from her manners, she indeed cares more for others than she cares for herself. Additionally, she lives in an irrational and constant fear of being ostracized due to her heritage, her disability and her sexuality.

Background: Blair Mikazuki was born in Glasgow into a family of aristocratic businesspersons. Her mother was Scottish and his father was Japanese. Throughout her childhood, she was conditioned to be a 'prim and proper lady', her blindness from birth be damned. Not that she needed any more incentive. Even at a young age, Blair looked too polite to live. Fast forward a few years, where we saw her placed in an all-girls Christian school. Ironically, it was there, of all places, that she discovered her inner sexuality. Thankfully, she was smart enough to hide this particular fact from others.


Now fast forward a few more years. Her family decided to move to Japan. There, she had one of her eyes treated by a team of doctors led by a certain white-haired prodigy. Well, to be precise, she had one eye removed to place a working synthetic one, but the point was she could see the world thanks to them, even if it was only one eye. It took a while getting used to sight, but damn if she wasn't thankful.


"Though nothing special in comparison, my life has been quite turbulent."

Background: Blair Mikazuki was born in Glasgow into a family of aristocratic businesspersons. Her mother was Scottish and his father was Japanese. Throughout her childhood, she was conditioned to be a 'prim and proper lady', her blindness from birth be damned. Not that she needed any more incentive. Even at a young age, Blair looked too polite to live. Fast forward a few years, where we saw her placed in an all-girls Christian school. Ironically, it was there, of all places, that she discovered her inner sexuality. Thankfully, she was smart enough to hide this particular fact from others.


Now fast forward a few more years. Her family decided to move to Japan. There, she had one of her eyes treated by a team of doctors led by a certain white-haired prodigy. Well, to be precise, she had one eye removed to place a working synthetic one, but the point was she could see the world thanks to them, even if it was only one eye. It took a while getting used to sight, but damn if she wasn't thankful.

Personality: Quiet and unassuming at first glance, Miya is best known for belonging within the ranks of the class's overachievers, the group of students of whom the likes and dislikes and other personal aspects most outsiders possess only a vague idea of. Academically, she is not quite on the same level as the 'brilliant gem' of the class, and is most likely viewed as the subordinate or 'second-in-command'. It suits her, however, for she prefers to keep a low profile. She does not perform well under pressure—whether from under-preparation, or the high expectations of peers regarding her grades—and thus has taken pains to minimize its presence where possible.


The general aura of unattainable ‘nerdiness’ so strongly attached to her and her closest companions has diminished somewhat over the years with her classmates' realisation that these 'overachievers' conduct routine acts of stupidity just like the rest of them, and should not be treated with quite the degree of unnatural reverence that had been the custom in earlier years. She and the other students who she is normally seen with are not known to be particularly active participants in the out-of-school social activities her classmates frequently organise. "Studying again," people say, and sometimes, she is— however, it's more that she is simply too lazy to forgo the comfort of her dorm room, and, while these outings are taking place, can be found curled up inside reading, procrastinating, watching anime, or else pursuing a hobby as anyone else would.


Background: Miya has lived a fairly ordinary life so far; she is an only child, and, up until the age of nine or ten, was so accustomed to the company of adults that she would continually, and quite inadvertently, make enemies of those of her classmates who she rebuffed for behaving in too "puerile" a manner, by her words. In Grade Five, she became conscious of her flawed attitude, and altered it—beginning firstly by maintaining her silence and making an effort to listen, which has since become her most natural state—to one more gracious, permitting, and much more similar to her typical manner today. Nowadays, she converses politely, and, especially since the transition from elementary to high school and a few new beginnings there, no-one has had much reason to hold any particular ill-will towards her. To this day, however, remnants of her overtly condescending manner manifest in her fondness of indulging in—and, more often than not, gleefully sharing, much to the confusion of others—whichever elitist jokes happen to be present on her newsfeeds.


Likes:


- Anything STEM-related. Becomes unabashedly enthusiastic upon their mere mention.


- Her grades. Straight A's are just the start.


- New stationery, which, half the time, she cannot be bothered to go out and obtain.


- Food. The promise of it is enough to lure her out of her dorm room for a while.


- Music of any sort. Miya is just about the only person in her class who can claim to have both Ravel and Skrillex on her playlist at any given time.


- Is an otaku, but by no means a vocal one. Putting posters up in her dorm room already 'crossing the line' by her standards, she has settled with keeping an anime figure on her bedside table. As all expenses were paid for with her own savings, she guards it fiercely. Her current dorm partner hasn't had the compulsion to take it just yet.


Dislikes:


- Pressure.


- Public speaking.


- Snoring roommates. Her current one doesn't, but she has had unpleasant experiences with more than one in the past.


- An excessive amount of recognition. While she detests seeing her name below a certain level on the school's roll of rankings, she equally dislikes seeing it in the very top position, knowing that dozens of not especially benevolent 'aspiring high-achievers' will, at least until the next re-rankings, be 'after her blood' for something which she believes could as easily have fallen to another student.
