Okay so where I live, there has been a case of a girl locking her dog in a room until it died of starvation (June 1st). It spread like wildfire locally, and is all over the news. I find it irritating. I feel for the doggo and it hurts to see pictures of it before it died and after it died (one of the pictures of its carcass has been released on Facebook, but Facebook is slowly starting to block the image), but some of these idiots... are just too much...

So the original informer of the case with Lindsey Price and the dog that was found dead in a locked room insists that high call volume and etc. will encourage law enforcement and local government to take action... please listen when I tell you this, assumptions cannot be made out of the blue, and wasting the police and sheriff's time by providing a high call volume to "demand" this issue be resolved is helping no one. You cannot make assumptions. No one knows where the girl is, no one knows when the dog died, and no one knows the reason. Instead of calling and emailing and harassing, why not actually go and find the girl and find out why the hell she locked her dog in a room, leaving it to die of starvation? OR better yet, let the people do their job. The ark wasn't built in a day.

Animal cruelty is not taken lightly, to act like no one gives a flip is amusing as it is irritating. Have you seen Facebook lately in the TN area, I've seen the news story countless times more so than I've seen violent cases against humans. Speaking of that, why do people seem to share more information over an animal cruelty case and "demand action" more so than with a case that involves abuse toward another human? In TN there was a case of a child and some concerning actions, but it was not shared. There were no activists demanding justice, there were no activists finding all they could about the murderer, and there were no "share this" posts. Oh but an animal, one who was equally as defensive as the child... if the animal's case isn't finished in a day then that means that justice hasn't been served, that the police don't care, and blah blah blah.

Why? Do we really only care about sharing pictures of wounded kitties and bunnies and etc. rather than a beaten child, burned woman, or a victim of rape or sexual harassment? Is it because they aren't cute, because they are considered voiceless and innocent? Well, that child who was abused by physical means was innocent, that woman that had been beaten to a pulp was voiceless, and that kid over there was fairly cute. Why do people assume that if justice isn't done in a day, then that means that law enforcement isn't doing their job correctly?

Tennessee?

"In TN there was a case of a child and some concerning actions, but it was not shared"
You outlined a specific case about animal abuse and then talk about a "case of a child and some concerning actions."
In any case, it's not like domestic violence against women or children isn't taken seriously. On the news, yes,
A) It's more notable when it happens to animals because you don't hear about it as often
B) Yes they're cuter
But in a legal setting, everything is taken very seriously.
If you mean in third world countries, it's because they are treated as less than human in those countries. So are dogs. So are many people not under the control of the government. And we expect it in those countries, even though it's awful, so we're desensitized to it.

i am strongly aganst hurting any animal, unless, of corse, if you are defending yourself, like from a lion or something

I had a local case in which a teenage driver hit a man with her car. I remember it got a lot of attention and coverage; I can't completely discredit human compassion. I see your point, though, and I've certainly noticed that victimized animals receive extra sympathy.
