One x One An Arrow's Path (1x1 Dice RP)

NovaPheonix

Drifting Writer
I'm still working on how I want to format things like scene breaks or important text.

I'll be including the session number and scene whenever a scene or session starts and ends.

House Rule for Critical Failures:

A critical failure will result whenever a player fails and the number of 1's is also equal to half or more of the number of dice rolled. On a chance die, the single 1 is treated as normal.

Beat Exp:

5 Beats = 1 Exp

-1 Beat per Session, a Session is a set of scenes that is declared to end by the GM. Otherwise, refer to time-based beats below.

-1 Beat for completing a character goal. The goal must be known by the GM or written on the char-sheet.

-Once per scene, you can change a normal failure into a dramatic failure to earn a beat.

-The GM may award bonus Beats for any reason, mostly for good roleplaying, tactics, ect.

-1 Beat will be given every two weeks of real time, if a session has not ended, but only if the rule of maintaining one quality post per week is met.

For my most recent post, I wanted to highlight some things that you might want to roll dice for, just as they came to my mind.

-Examining the symbols on people's clothes.

-Recognizing or knowing more than I have given already on prominent figures.

-Searching for details or hidden things within the room

-Examining equipment such as the Woman's sword.

-Making Social rolls to assert yourself or make a point.

You don't actually need to roll, I would just like you to understand what would require a roll here so that we start to establish a rhythm with the dice. If you do roll, tell me what you are rolling for in the post and either use Rollz.org and Embed the roll (there's an option in the log section if you click where you roll) or use the built in dice (never used them before, so don't know how they work yet.)

Any other OOC questions can be asked here, but ask them before posting.

You can tell by gauging his Essence (Prime 2, Gauging Essence [because you're using it on a Single focused Target, not using Mage Sight and also you would normally need Life]) that his Mana/Gnosis would be about standard for a normal apprentice mage and he isn't lacking any. He seems to have a higher Willpower than you (6), but his magical power seems to be even lower than yours. He likely only has anywhere between 3-4 ranks total while you have 6. You also get a description of his aura, in a sense, but I'll include that in-character in my reply. He is not resisting the spell.

Scrutiny: With your roll you'd be able to initially recognize his signature aura so to speak, like his magical fingerprint (which, as I said, I'll describe later). This means if he was cloaked, hidden, or disguised, you'd be able to pick him out. Since you're specifically looking for his Arcana, it looks like you'd be able to suss them out with your remaining successes (the other two). Acanthus is probably his Path, and you can figure that his Arcana is Fate ●● and Time ●.

When it comes to perception or Scrutiny, I'm probably only going to give you hints. You have to tell me that you're looking for something. Basically, I'll tell you some common rolls...but I'll never say something like "You can use perception or look for magic here". Anything that would be a secret is something that you have to find on your own :) .

Though, in pointing this out, I've given you an even bigger hint.

On the most recent post You could use Academics + Intelligence [the subject is History, or if you happened to have read the Old Testament...that could apply] to figure out what Gideon's name might reference (if you care), or you could just cheat and use Google. Feel free to suggest anything else too.

Results of Scrutiny:

Gideon does not resist, because as we said he has no reason not to trust you for now. You take a few seconds to study the aura now splayed out before you.

Gideon's Mana reserve is much higher than yours or any apprentice mage's, it's closer to around 10-13, most likely because he hasn't used magic in a while so it has not been used. An important note, his SUPPRESSED Gnosis is 2. Meaning that it would normally be much higher, but even with the handcuffs on he has a higher Gnosis than a starting mage. His willpower is harder for you to gauge, but it is a step above Leo's based on what you can guess (so, in numerical terms, it's 7).

His Arcana suggests that he is powerful Moros Mage and his Faction is Banisher, and his Arcana as you understand them are as follows [This is most likely his full set]:

Death ●●●●

Matter ●●

Life ●●

His Arcana stands out more than Leo's and It seems like you are getting more of a better "broad picture" of Gideon's Arcana. It's much more clear to you (because of the higher success) than Leo's was to you. His aura is like a painting of his soul, spread across a canvas. It helps you get a better idea of him to a point. I'll Describe his aura/Nimbus in the next post.

Some notes also:

1.I was going to remind you to write your Nimbus (the storm and thunder) as you described it, on your sheet as well as noting that your sword is your focus. You forgot to do that with Xanthus at first too, but it's important.

2.Based on your high knowledge of magic, without needing to roll, I'll tell you that upon seeing his arcana you realize he could have Decayed/Degraded/Destroyed your sword with a combination of Death + Matter. He probably was planning to do that if you did hand it over. What an asshole!

3,Just to put this in perspective, his power level (even when suppressed) is nearly double what yours is if not more.

They're going to have to roll to memorize the directions.

[dice]12198[/dice]

[dice]12199[/dice]

[dice]12200[/dice]

Result:

Asgall Critical Fail (In my house rules, a number of 1s with no successes is a crit fail.)

Leo gets 3 Successes, so she gets to roll three more dice (Teamwork).

[dice]12201[/dice]

Result:

So, she still critical fails, but with Leo's help...they manage to turn it into a normal failure.

However, Player decided to take a BEAT to return it to a critical failure.

Also, since it's the end of the session, you also get a free
BEAT.

Beats [2/5]

Let me know if you have any feedback for the formatting. One thing I realized now is that I can't resize or alter image size, so I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm including them for a good reason though.

When I start a scene now, I'm going to add it at the top, and you can sort of imagine a visual showing up in the scene or just a transition :)

I also made a typo here, beats are supposed to be out of 5, not 4.

The man before you laying on the street gives off a glimmering golden aura, reflective of a spiritual person mixed with a rather harsh green. The secondary color is representative of bitterness. Strange that it matches the color of your hair, but beyond that he has a very broken down look to him, seeming very weak or injured. You can almost feel the pain in his legs as you open your sixth sense to him, and the smell of his energy is very cold and metallic. Closed off, you'd guess. You see no obvious effects present on first inspection. This is the same sort of reading consistent with a Sleeper, and yet you feel that he isn't one.
