"I'm making sure Fizzy goes to therapy, there's no way in hell I'm letting him just go apeshit like that for no reason," Sam agreed, "Guess I'm out of a job, too, since Denton's MIA. I want to say I'm glad."

Kotsu normally would have shown some sympathy toward Denton being MIA, but he didn't feel as strongly toward this situation as he once did. It was evident in how he even regarded it as he spoke.

"I'll have to inform Morgan about the events that transpired. Though, I will keep my word and try and help Denton. Unless when we take down Blue with the help of the other Owls we can piece him together again. Slim to no chance, but, we'll see." Kotsu offered a smile that seemed strangely empty of happiness. Almost like it was a practiced routine.

"That'd be nice, wouldn't it? And maybe I can employ you? I'd need someone to help me tutor the vampires me and Aria are going to teach to go on the straight and narrow." The usual joy from the topic was gone, replaced by only a sense of duty.

"Your kids in those metal suits too? They could get in some combat practice with a few vamps and we can intervene if the bouts go to rough, ya know?" Kotsu did make a point. More combat experience in a scenario against real vampires would make for quick reflexes.

"Unless you're willing to wait eight years, only Halo will have her full capabilities. Trust me when I tell you that there will only be two things that will have the ability to hurt them: EMPs and Hackers." Sam shrugged and deleted the modified file to keep the AIs from getting to it before they were supposed to. "I've already got a job, though. Hephaestus likes to send me his projects to finish. He's not sending me stuff like Artemis' bow or Zeus' bolt yet, probably never will, but still. And I've got the thing with the Pteranodon vehicles. I don't really know, man."

Sam shook her head and sighed. "Maybe I'll take you up on that. Start our own company, you got a name in mind?"

Kotsu shrugged. "I'm a vampire, Sam. I've got all the time in the world." Shifting his weight on his heels, Kotsu tried to think of a fitting name for a medicine man and a tinkerer. "Hm... As for a company name. Pestle And Metal Mortar?" Kotsu moved his jaw with a bit of a click. "Maybe not my most catchy one. But if you help out with the vampire thing, we could call it The Lion's Den."

"Yeah, but I'm not," Sam pointed out, "I'll be 42 before they're ready. My spine sucks as is, I don't even think I'm gonna be able to fight, let alone wrangle vampires." She chucked at the name 'Lion's Den'. "I've got to ask why 'The Lion's Den'."

"Way I see it, you're fierce like a Lion when it comes to your cubs. But maybe tiger mom would be more appropriate." Kotsu said with a shrug. "I dunno, seemed fitting. Something told me you wouldn't appreciate it being 'Mama Bear's Brawl House'." Kotsu said as he begin pulling out a notepad thinking about names for a business.

"Hm. Fight Forge. I dig it. Could just operate a hospital underneath it. Or at least a clinic. I've made a couple of those." Kotsu wrote it down on the note pad he had in his hands.

"We can open other businesses too. But you're far from a roach. You're always first to charge ahead into danger. Roaches run away from their enemy." With a quick stare at Sam, and going back to his note pad he spoke again.

"You're tough, dangerous, and a loving mom and friend. You've had my back for a while. I guess that's why The Lion Den was the first name on my mind."

"Well, how many lions can take a nuke?", Sam replied jokingly, "We might emulate Maniacles, do a boat thing in the middle of international waters. Nobody will be able to touch us if we do something stupid. Maybe an artificial floating island, I think I can design one of those."

Joseph and the twins had gotten a set of mops and began to clean up the blood on the ground. With the three of them working, it didn't take long to soak up all of the blood. The bucket's water they were using turning a dull red. After that, they began wiping the blood off of the walls, and then put the desk upright. They finally lifted up the bloody and pierced couch, and set it in the corner for now. There was little that they could do about it.

Joseph paused as he glanced over at Kotsu and Sam as they talked. He wished he could help... but any of his creations would be stuck here in the dreamlands. Plus... he didn't have access to his atelier, all of the ingredients he'd need to gather, and it'd take a lot of time in order to fully construct everything to help improve or create anything for Kotsu. He took a deep breath and cleaned off the blood from the two accessories that he'd given Human Kotsu. "...Mr. Kotsu," Joseph said as he walked up to him, before holding out the accessories. "I want you to have these. I wish I could be of more help, but they'll assist with your defense and speed, and protect you from wind and earth magic. I have other accessories if you need want, but you'd have to tell me about certain attributes or elemental resistances you'd prefer." He said.

Defilement

The group readies them selfs for the battle that was to come. When they are ready Red floats to the head of the group.

"Alright, I suspect Dark kotsu has laid a trap, but there is some good news. I don't sense blue near here, it appears she has gone off somewhere. I am slightly concerned about what could be drawing her away from us but we'll worry about that later."

Red spins and faces the Barn. "Now lets us end this nightmare."

***

Yellow had managed to find enough mental shards to cobble together a half functioning mind for Denton. She places it in his head and snaps her ghost fingers.

"Denton? Are you back?"

Denton blinks he no longer had the mind of a lizard and could speak now, but he had little to no memory to speak of. He stares at Owl blankly unsure of anything, who was he? what was he? why was he?

"Well at least you not hissing. Denton we need one of you plans, our friends are about to fight someone I don't think they can defeat. I know this is all new to you but you have to trust me I'm...I'm your...guardian angel. Ya that's it."

***

Dark kotsu can feel the group approaching the barn, his grotesque fangs sharpen. He licks his lips. With Blue owls power he was unbeatable, he would kill Kotsu friends, then save him for last.

***

Blue owl can feel the presence of her quarry white owl, but her other half did well to hide her self admits this new structure that had appeared in the sand lands. Curious, Blue knew it this pyramid had something to do with Joe but what? it didn't matter, White owl was here hiding amidst the labyrinth shielding her presence from Blue with mental magic, but it was only a matter of time.

Blue pauses her search and turns back to look across the horizon. Dark Kotsu was about to engage in battle, he would slaughter them all, even Kotsu wouldn't be safe.

"He rejected me, why should I care?" Blue says with a huff hardening her heart and tries snuffing out the last embers of affection she had for her doomed group. What were friends to a Godess?

***

The reach the barn door, Red blasts it apart and they rush in expecting some trap. There is now trap however, just them and dark kotsu.

He sits on a wooden chair hands on his cheek staring at them amused. "I've decided for once I'll fight fairly." he says with a toothy grin.

"Who are you?" Kherpri asks

"What are you?" Bickle adds.

"Oh? you don't recognize me? Ahh no, this is the first time you have seen me in the form face to face." Dark kotsu stands. "A gift from mine and your new Godess. Those who wish to live may bow to her now."

They all stand defiant. Dark kotsu smiles. "I was hoping you would do that, now, die."

Sinister power swirls about him Blue power mixes with his own and is defiled. Demonic eather swirls about him.

"Alright, gimme a sec," Sam said to Red as she announced it was time to go. Getting back into her armor and pushign some buttons, machines turned out little devices and suitcase-sized blocks of something. Sam dumped the devices from one machine into a large backpack, and putting the blocks onto a small wagon. Putting the product of another machine, several dozen familiar spheres, into another bag, and loading it all onto the wagon, she pulled her wagon out. "Okay."

"Sorry, I've already got a god. His name is Hephaestus," Sam said in response to Dark Kotsu's offer. "And unlike the Blue Bitch, he doesn't call himself a god just because he's in pieces, so kiss my half metal ass." Letting go of the wagon handle, she extended her swords.

Joseph stepped forward to face Dark Kotsu. He bowed toward him. It wasn't out of reverence, or respect... but merely as a formal introduction before a proper fight. The bloodied locket dangled from his throat, a reminder of why he must win this battle. Not only so then he could escape from his prison... but to also avenge the ones that this monster had so heartlessly killed. "...Joseph Hikari Nobunaga. I shall be your opponent." He said calmly, before standing up straight. He pulled the scythe from his back, unfolding it and draping it over his shoulders. He seemed completely at ease as he faced Dark Kotsu, not seeming to be unnerved by his new appearance. He'd seen worse in his life. He knew he wanted them to be afraid, to be angry at him, to hate him, to fight blindly, perhaps even using those negative emotions to feed him. He wouldn't allow him that.

"...Kotsu, permission to deny the illusion of the dream goddess." He requested, that same sense of calm in his voice. He had been able to declare something in red. That should not have been possible outside of a logic duel. That meant... he could truly use that component of Verum outside of proper duels. However... in this world of dreams and fantasy, the cold harsh truth of reality could potentially tear it asunder. He didn't wish to use it, not within Kotsu's mental world, not without his permission, at least.

The twins had pulled their weapons out, 02 already nocking an arrow, and 01 ready to leap forward and begin ripping Dark Kotsu apart. Even with Blue's power behind him, he was still outnumbered. If they all worked together, they most certainly could take him down! They waited for Kotsu's signal to begin, whether they would be attempting to strip Blue's power from Dark Kotsu, or if they would fight him as is.

Kotsu looked at Joseph. "I care not. But his last breath will be mine to draw." An unamused expression wore itself on Kotsu's face as he turned his head with a glare focused on Dark.
"I'll make you suffer for every innocent life you've taken be it directly or through association!" He announced as he charged Dark Kotsu, katana and sword whips drawn.

Dark Kotsu quickly blocks Kotsu's attack, his flaps from his mouth extending as he tries to pull Kotsu's face into his teeth ridden maw with an inhuman noise projecting from his throat. It was him laughing but it sounded more like gargling with how mangled his mouth and throat were.

Kotsu uses the sword whips to pierce into his mouth as Dark Kotsu launches his tendrils into Kotsu's body as they hold each other locked in fierce combat. The fierceness of their battle could be felt even from those that kept their distance.

"God damn. Is anybody else bored by this ugly son of a bitch yet?" Clayton said nonchalantly as he snatched the tank gun into position as quick as he would a revolver and shot at Dark Kotsu's back furthest from Kotsu.

He then took a swig from his bottle to ensure his breath could ignite (though this was a sure thing at this point) and once the tank shell had reached it's destination be it Dark Kotsu or elsewhere, Clayton dashed in to assist Kotsu in the melee.

"I want out of this memory too," Sam agreed, lifing into the air and diving blades first at Dark Kotsu after Clayton's tank shell flew.

Dark Kotsu see's the shell coming, but he doesn't evade, instead he grins.

He wants the shell to hit him, he wants to test his new powers. The impact knocks Kotsu back and the force of the shell throws Dark kotsu back into the side of the barn collapsing the wall and driving him through a corn field. a smoking creator is etched into the landscape but from it's rim Dark Kotsu emerges laughing.

"That kinda hurt...my finger nails." He lifts his hand up and Bickles jaw drops. The tank shell was in his hand. "With owls blessing, I, am, supreme."

He pitches then hurls the shell back at Sam with double the force and speed, her Armour absorbs the impact but it is still dented and she is still launched through the roof.

Dark Kotsu warps teleporting him self behind Clayton and kicking him into a pile of hey, a mental blast throws Khepri and Bickle back. Their foe stops to gloat.

"Your strongest move barely scratched me what do you hope to accomplish? I will enjoy toying with you all till you die. Only then after you allies lay dismembered will I finish you Kotsu."

Red owl casts stupefy wrecking DK's mind temporally before flying to Kotsu side.

"Blue owl reality warping magic has empowered him, I think I can negate it but I need time to focus. Everyone keep him occupied!"

The momentos fly out of the party's hands as they twirl around the room, shedding a golden greenish hue on the party that makes them feel full of warmth.

Kotsu catches himself on the ground with the katana cutting through the floorboards of the barn and the concrete foundation beneath it from Dark Kotsu's blast. The headwear of his Snegoku and Western armor formed as debris flew toward him, shielding his vision. Red Owl then appears in his peripheral view, hearing her command. He pulls his katana out of the ground and rushes Dark Kotsu.

In a moment, he lands before him and summons his whips with the new laser blade attachment.

"I grow weary of these games. I care not about your Goddess." Kotsu said coldly as he took the moment of Red's stupify to his advantage. "In fact, the way I see it, she's responsible for you killing my family again. You'll both suffer dearly." Kotsu began slashing at rapid speeds with both his katana and his four bladed whips in unison.

A dark figure appeared out of Kotsu's view and tackled him away from Kotsu before he could inflict as much damage as he would normally. It was two Dark Kotsu clones with grinning mad teeth.

DK Clones: "Did you miss us? We missed you-"

They didn't even get to finish before Kotsu sliced their heads clean off. He kicks their bodies and uses the momentum to spring himself back to his feet. He is greeted with Dark Kotsu Clones crawling out of the barn in droves.

"Nothing but an infestation. Exterminate them in any way you all see fit. Spare nothing. Eviscerate all of them like the pests they are." Kotsu said coldly as he began making his way calmly back to Dark Kotsu. Any clones getting near him, he slashed apart. The clones seemed weaker and would be able to be torn apart quite easily now.

With a crash Sam fell back through the roof of the barn, her flight systems failing to slow her fall. She hit the ground hard enough to cause a shockwave, crushing the clone she landed on and knocking down those around her.

"Ow, my ass," Sam groaned as she climbed to her feet. "I fucking hate this barn," she muttered, before forming the Halo Blaster and firing a sweeping beam through clones, incinerated or dismembering them as the beam passed through.

Joseph had been about to launch his attack when the others had gotten in the way. He didn't want to accidentally pierce them with Verum... and when Red was seeming to be able to somewhat suppress his power. For now, unless Red was unable to contain Blue's magic, he'd keep Verum as a last resort.

He was sure that Kotsu was about to deliver a rather nasty blow to Dark Kotsu, when some of his clones came in to stop him. He whirled around to face the barn, quickly pulling out his bow, he ran to one of the ends of the barn, keeping his back to the wall for the time being to ensure he wouldn't get . "Concentrate fire on Dark Kotsu, I shall keep them busy. If I am able to completely eliminate them, I shall assist you with Dark Kotsu. Please watch my back." He called out. He shut his eyes and took a deep breath as yet another magic circle formed beneath him, looking akin to that of a target. "...Locking on." He muttered quietly to himself as he drew an arrow from his quiver, nocking it, and then smoothly drawing it back. He opened his right eye, the magic circle beneath him was mirrored within it.

In his vision, individual clones were beginning to glow as he focused on each one. The arrow between his fingers began to glow with a silver aura. "...Firing!" He announced, allowing the arrow to fly. As it did, the arrow was engulfed in a bright silver light, almost seeming to turn into a beam of pure light energy as it did. The beam began to arc wildly as it weaved its way into the swarm of clones, slicing its way through one clone and into another, sometimes incidentally slamming through several other clones to get at its next target. However, if it ever came in the direction of one of his allies, it would correct its course, weaving just around them and into the next clone. The light magic burnt the clone's skin on contact, turning it to ash, making it nearly impossible to heal from right away. It bore great holes through each clone that the arrow made contact with. As the arrow slammed through target after target, the light surrounding it began to waver, before finally planting itself neatly into the eye of one last Dark Kotsu clone that Joseph had managed to lock onto.

He was already getting ready to launch another light infused arrow into the crowd making their way towards the group.

Meanwhile, the twins turned their focus to Dark Kotsu. "Blah, blah, blah, Goddess this, Goddess that. She's just a two-bit hack pretending to be one. We'll still take you down even with her power, so do be ready to beg for your life." 01 said as he began walking towards Dark Kotsu, slowly turning into a full on charge. His eyes flashed silver as he analyzed him, looking for a weakness he or the others could take advantage of. He slipped out an earth vial, slamming it against the blade of his scythe. As he ran, he dragged the end of one against the ground, the concrete beneath the wood seeming to be drawn towards 01's scythe, and as he sliced upwards, a shower of wooden splinters came along with it as jagged spikes of concrete came up, aiming to dig themselves into the true Dark Kotsu and propel his scythe further into his body.

02 meanwhile had created a set of four ice arrows. They glowed with a silver aura as he drew one back, and then let it fly. They would fly towards Dark Kotsu's joints, his knees and elbows, the arrows sinking in, before bursting out into blocks of ice and encasing them, slowing his movement, making it harder for him to move.

A couple scenes from his long life flashed in Clayton's memory as he was kicked across the barn and into a bale of hay. The first being his father's boot launching him in a similar way when he was about 4. The other was D-Day. Yes, he was thinking about WW2 again. He wasn't sure why. He never suffered any form of PTSD from the combat he had seen after what happened to him in Nevada. Maybe it had prepared him so that nothing less insane could traumatize him. Maybe being a vampire dulled his ability to be traumatized more than he realized.

Tanks in the first world war were for clearing enemy trenches with only a machine gun. It both pleasantly surprised and in a small way shocked him when he saw a tank, buried in a fortified position before the pillboxes, shelled a squad a US troops, blasting them in gruesome pieces. Vampires were a lot more powerful than the average man; even the toughest of army veterans. Yet a tank shell should surely do something. Clayton survived a hail of machinegun fire from only a few feet away, but it did stun him for a bit. This Dark Kotsu...just ate the tank shell like it was nothing.

But now was no time to think too hard about Dark Kotsu. The bastard had made clones of himself and they were attacking. Clayton punched clean through one's head before whipping around to three other coming up behind him. Like he had prepared with his drinking, Clayton let forth a stream of fire on the clones as they went for him. They seemed far weaker than the real Dark Kotsu.

Dark Kotsu engages with Kotsu in a fury of offensive trades, they cut, punch and slash at each other with reckless abandon. But dark Kotsu was coming out ahead his new found power overwhelming Kotsu even with his new found abilities. Eventually it ends with dark Kotsu punching his foe so hard his ribs break and he flies into a support beam.

But Kotsu had allies. Joe 1 casts critical eye his ability reveals to him the source of Dark kotsu power. Owls mental magic, but the magic blue had given him could be negated by red temporally, until then Dark Kotsu was unstoppable. He glances at red who looks like she's working on it gathering her mental magic to revoke the blessing blue had given their foe. until then however...

Joes 1 scythe slashed into Dark Kotsu, The vampire laughs and back hands joe 1 into the earth his scythe doing next to nothing. ice arrows hit their mark freezing his joints. But dark Kotsu wills away the ice and is about to rend Joe 2 when he senses reds power.

He spins to her realizing what she was seconds away from doing. "I don't think so false Godess!" He lunges at her.

"I'm not ready!" Red owl shouts putting up a barrier to block him, he smashes through it and grabs her throat and begins to squeeze.

The clones began to disappear after the combined effort of the group. Upon seeing Red snatched up by her throat, Kotsu's red eyes flare bright as he charges at top speed into Dark Kotsu. He readies a roundhouse kick to his ribs and follows up with ready palm strikes to add distance between him and Red. His whips focused on prying off Dark Kotsu's grip once his strikes would make contact. The flow of time seemed to slow down as he focused more intensely on every movement of Dark Kotsu's. The ebb of combat began to become intoxicating, and Kotsu yearned for more danger. He no longer felt afraid of Dark Kotsu and readied himself to counter strike if anything to buy Red more time.

As Sam cleared her part of the barn with the sweeping laser, she could see through the bodies and ashes in the air that Red Owl was being choked. From this distance, she couldn't do anything, not before Dark reacted to her own approach. "Wake up the swarm," Sam told Halo.

"Activating Directed Energy Hover Drone Swarm," Halo replied. The bags on Sam's wagon wiggled and then exploded as the dozens of tennis ball-sized laser drones rose into the air and took aim at Dark Kotsu and the remainder of the clones. "Please take cover," Halo said.

"Deflect this, asswipe," Sam said before the barn suddenly looked like a much deadlier rave. Lasers bounced off of every reflective surface in the barn. Belt buckles, glasses, blades, bullets, whips, Halo tried to make sure no allies were hit, but she could only calculate so much. If a party member were hit, it would be as the laser passed by and gave them a blister. The clones were not so lucky. Swiss Cheesed vampires were everywhere.

Kotsu kicks Dark Kotsu with such force his foe tumbles back away from Red owl, Red owl floats away landing by Samantha. "Keep him off me I'm almost ready!"

Kotsu whips tear into DK but the Godly powers of dark Kotsu negate the damage, he feels nothing he is almost invisible...almost.

Dark Kotsu eyes red Owl suddenly understanding her role, she was the key to his defeat. He focuses all his clones on her, leaping at her with the same deadly goal they had exacted on Yellow Owl.

Kotsu attacks, but Dark Kotsu teleports once again appearing before Red. She is ready for him however and blasts him with a pulse of mental magic.

"You power is nothing compared to your blue half." Dark kotsu laughs and his clones close in on her, he thrusts a bladed claw at her throat. She evades twisting her body barely evading the lethal blow but her shoulder is slashed in the process.
