Passions Vineyard

Maniacles may have been a morally bankrupt and corrupt organization, aplace filled to the brim with killers, mad scientists, and monstrous experiments. The worst modern society had to offer, but they did know how to treat their employees to a fine . Denton and Morgan were treated to a first class flight. The rest of their group were also offered a ride, although some preferred to come on their own. Their designated meeting spot was the airport. Morgan carried one suitcase and one duffel bag slung over her shoulder. Denton had two suitcases. Both exited the plane. The rest of their things were being mailed. Passions Vineyard's Airport was larger than either expected. People a buzz, moving and grooving, talking, some getting off flights, some getting on.

The rest of the group had an hour or so to meet them here before their escort arrived.

Denton's mind had been a buzz with what they were being sent here for. The Greek god Dionysus had apparently hired Maniacles mercenaries. Why? He assumed a god should be more than capable of dealing with his own problems. Maybe. He'd been reading books on ancient myths the entire flight on his kindle.

He'd known the stories, some of them anyway. Real bastards they were. Denton thought back to the Pests. His unit had been fairly gung-ho about the whole thing...until it all went to hell.

Denton saw Sam, Vivian and Kotsu entering the airport. He waved.

Aria

Money money money money!

Aria was overjoyed when she checked her bank account and found a staggering number of money had already transferred. The amount surpassed the wage of any of her previous job's, combined.

"With this amount of money I will become billionaire in no time!"

Sigh, it's not that much really. Don't get carried away, Aria. Go and count the number of zeros in a billion, then compare it with the number of zeros in your bank account. A gruff and booming voice with thick brittish accent echoed inside her mind.

"Feast for everyone!" Aria shouted at her terrarium filled with leeches.

You are getting better at ignoring me... Are you really satisfied with those amount?? Should I tell you better ways to gain money?

"Time out, Alucard. You are speaking too much. Go into the corner and repent for your sins!"

The voice vanished. Aria didn't mean to drive him away like that, but having a thousands years old vampire that think he know all the stuffs in her mind was really tiring. He was much more passive compared to the time when she first woke up from her centuries slumber though.

....

Three months passed since that day. Aria used her payment mostly to gear up herself. When HQ's called, she was ready for her next mission. It's in Massachusetts, Vineyard something something. Since they didn't specify the time for this mission, Aria opted to use her daytime gears.

She's still using her black cloak like usual, but unlike her regular cloak, this one was made from sturdier material, so were her gloves and boots too. Strapped to her forehead was her sleeping mask, ready to be pulled down in case she needs a quick nap. Her waist belt was filled with various misc items that she thought might help in the mission, like her leeches-filled lunchbox. She packed the non-combat related items inside a suitcase.

Last but not least, her weapon. An oversized umbrella specially made for combat. Durable steel shaft and flexible canopy. Not to boot it was in her favorite color red. Among all her gears, this one was definitely the most expensive that drained half of her last paycheck. Hope that online shop were not lying about this umbrella being able to take some beating.

Having checked everything. Aria boarded the flight offered by HQ. She spent the flight sleeping soundly with her sleeping mask pulled down. In fact, she was getting too comfortable with her sleep that the flight attendant needed to slap her in the face to wake her up. She exited the plane with red left cheek and thousand of apologies from the plane's staffs.

The first thing Aria saw from the group was Kotsu flipping Denton, what a great start.

"I see everyone here are as healthy as always. Glad to know that."

Owl had given Samantha all of the evidence she had collected so far save for the contents of her diary. Now knowing she had a back up file incase she was further uncovered Owl had set about organizing her intel into an absolutely damning story. It sits' on her lap top saved, and backed up and backed up again until she had hundreds of version all stashed away waiting for the right moment.

She keeps Her call with Denton brief and business like arriving at the vine yard in a form fitting nano suite designed to amplify her psychic based magic to greater heights. One of the skills she had mastered during this time was telepathy with a range of over fifty meters she could now speak directly into the minds of her allies, and they could speak to her back.

She had trained hard and could debilitate and confuse minds in more interesting ways now, like confusing the signals sent from the brain to the body redirecting them else were. It was temporary, but effective. She enters the villa eager to try them out and upon spotting Kotsu says telepathically.

"Boo! Haha, don't panic it's me owl, behind you."

KotaKotsu KotaKotsu

Kotsu turned around slowly, actually excited to see Owl, but kept a stoic face. "I smell a Nubian Goddess." Kotsu said mentally. Looking around to see her. Kotsu's expression softened slightly, as seeing Owl was always a breath of fresh air. But Kotsu had one question lingering on his mind. And he had a feeling he wouldn't like the answer. "Do you know where Carmille is?" Kotsu asked Owl telepathically.

Sam just waved at the new arrivals and yawned. "I need a nap," she muttered as she rested her head on the handlebars. Two days on the road, no stops except for to eat or use a rest stop. Sam's tired was tired. She'd spent a chunk of her paycheck on materials to finish the bike, and she was proud of it. The paintjob was a beautiful metallic black, the segmented armor plating could fan out, she'd even managed to cram a few weapons in there. The tip of a gun barrel poked out either side of the headlight. Fully functioning GPS and uplink, and she could plug her drones in so they charged faster. From the way everyone else showed up, she felt like she spent the least, considering most of the materials she already had, but then again she did spend four grand with Olivia at fancy restaurants.

Her forehad accidentally bumped the little red button behind the windscreen, and the bike jumped as the plates fanned out. The bike jumped, Sam jumped, and sheepishly closed the armor. "God hates me, doesn't he?", she muttered.

Then a white convertible car arrived at the airport, running fast and stopping just a few meters at distance from the group, its door opened and a man exited from it.
He was tall, as tall as Bricks, with a strong athletic build. Already equipped with an armless black military vest, black boots and grey short pants revealing a couple of artificial legs. He wore black sunglasses and had short orange hair.

The man walked through the group, ignoring them and headed straight to Denton, he was way taller than him. He took off his sunglasses and locked eyes with him wearing a serious dead expression, a tense uncomfortable silence followed.

"What's going on bro! Heard you became a family man!" exclaimed as he smiled and shook hands with Denton

Owl walks up to Kotsu with a grin. "I'm happy to see that despite your best efforts, your still alive."

"Do you know where Carmille is?" Kotsu asked Owl telepathically.

"No I don't why? you two don't seem very close, last i remmeber she dropped you into the mouth of a giant magot." Owl tilts her head, "Are you two close?"

KotaKotsu KotaKotsu

Kotsu smiled a bit more. "Is that jealousy I detect?" Kotsu said telepathically teasingly before becoming more concerned. "It's something Denton said to me months ago. He threatened us. Vampires. Me, Aria, and Carmille specifically. Worried he might actually be working his way down a list. Starting with the one who would be the most beneficial to our group." Kotsu had a slight grin creeping on his face though, "Were you jealous though?"

Denton cleared his throat. They were off to a great start. The team sure did know how to show respect for their fearless leader. Their fearless leader who had so kindly offered them first class airline service, which they all declined.

Pretending to be their friend wouldn't be much of an option this time. The majority of them were already suspcious of his motives. This meant he would have to fall back on lies and false truths. Hmm, wait they might see that coming. Then again, he hardly knew why he was here.

"What's going on bro! Heard you became a family man!" exclaimed as he smiled and shook hands with Denton

Ah, here we are. In light of Camille's absence Denton requested an old teammate for assistance on the job. Having somebody, a friend, in your pocket from the start never hurt, and this guy here was a good worker. The two had known each other for...nine years now?

Denton shook the man's hand. Introductions were in order. "Ladies, gentleman. I'm glad you could all join me here." He gestured at the newcomer. "This is Fizzy Roy. He'll be replacing Camille for this mission. She's out of action. Temporarily."

Owl squints and puts her hands on her hips. "I am not jealous, just don't get why your so worried about those kinds of people, if you can even call her a person. Read her mind once, that creature has no personal memories, her mind is a confusing mess of irrelevant ancient history all trending towards a general theme of violence and butchery. Honestly she creeps me out. Is it even a she? I don't know."

Kotsu had to stiffle a giggle. "Yeah, she's a female. And she's not the easiest to get along with, but she's a vampire like me. And she saved me when she dropped me. She got caught by those tentacles that would have grabbed me. She... She tossed me her arm to feed off of after she got beat to hell too..." Kotsu said telepathically, reflecting back on the fight with the Queen. "She's a person, I feel. She had no obligation to save me. I half expected her to let me get squashed for her to save her own skin. I'm just so sorry I wasn't stronger back then." Kotsu said sadly telepathically. "This time, this time it will be different." Kotsu muttered out loud.

"I can find out where she is though." owl says telepathically. "Denton knows if I can touch him I might find out information about her...about everything. Problem is he knows I can read his mind if I touch him, and like you he has threatened me also. But Maybe there is someone else who knows? If You can find me someone with knowledge of Carmilles where abouts I can search his memory, Or if you can some how set up me touching Denton with out him knowing. I can find out what happened to her."

Upon hearing Denton say that Carmille was out of action, Kotsu snapped his attention at Denton. Thankfully he was wearing sunglasses, but I'm sure Denton could feel how targeted the glare was that he was receiving. Owl could only hear the torrent of emotions in Kotsu's head which sounded like a cacophony of voices before they quieted down into one repeated phrase.
Kill him. I'll kill him. I'll kill him. Kill. Threatened us, outcast us. Kill him...
Kotsu snapped back to his senses, "Sorry about that, Owl." Kotsu said telepathically. "Maybe there's something I can do. Or that Fizzy Roy fuck might know. But he's probably been warned. Maybe he'll just have to get injured while you give him first aid treatment." Kotsu said telepathically, his eyes twitching with joy. It became clear that Kotsu was becoming just as cold and devious as Denton had been. Kotsu couldn't forgive Denton for any of this. Especially since he could still hear the screams of those children.

"He probably does, so what we going to fake an accident?" Owl asks him. "Maybe you should accidentally push him down some stares I can help him to his feet, and rape his mind...what? I never said I was a saint."

Kotsu chuckled internally, which came off as just a smile as he smiled into Owl's eyes. "You're as beautiful as ever." Kotsu said out loud. "I was thinking about actually tearing his flesh with my whips which have actually gotten stronger. Casualties are casualties." Kotsu said telepathically. "By the way, that wasn't a lie either. You are beautiful." Kotsu said, telepathically again but also externally he called her beautiful again. It made it look less awkward to everyone around them as well, since they had been staring at each other for so long. "If Denton tries to go after you, he'll have to get through me. And I'm sorry in advance. If I'm not as kind as you remember." He said telepathically again.

Owl stands straight nose up, trying to hide the fact she was blushing. "No.no it's good not to be so kind. You can't trust people Kotsu, that includes me." There is a hint of guilt in her eyes, but it doesn't last long. She looks up determined.

"I will help you kind Carmille don't worry. and i'm going to start, with her replacement. Now, how to make him fall down some stairs?"

"I say we wait until he's out of Denton's sight. Meaning we should do it in the combat zone. Without Denton able to interfere. Or you could introduce yourself and shake their hand after I shake their hand. It'd be natural for them to fall for it then." Kotsu said telepathically. "You're totally cute when you blush though. And you mentioned that before..." Kotsu started growing a bit distant. "Not to trust you. If that's the case, maybe you'd be right in that regard." Kotsu said telepathically, a sad smile creeping across his face. "It's just you and me. So I guess I should ask you the question I haven't been able to. Can I trust you?" Kotsu asked her. It was a genuine question since she knew that she could rely on Kotsu. Everyone here could. He wanted to keep everyone safe.
Huh, so these are your friends huh? I'm surprised you managed to get any. Friends are a power in their own right. Cherish them.
Kotsu held his head slightly, shaking off that voice. He hasn't thought much about it, but the voice always changes. He didn't know what the voice was. And Owl couldn't hear them sometimes.

Owl is squinting at him, she thought she had detected something, or someone else in his head. Try as she might she could not confirm anything, after a moment she gives up figuring it was her imagination and ponders his question.

"Honestly Kotsu? No, I'm a thief who pillages peoples minds for a living, I violate the most intimate and sacred place one can have. I rob people of their most cherished memories. There is nothing trust worthy about that." She puts a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "But know this, everything I do, I do for the greater good."

Kotsu removes her hand. Nodding, accepting her answer. His thoughts went silent. And so did he. "Hey Soda Pop!" Kotsu said to Fizzy Roy. "I'm going out for a smoke, tell the guy next to you to kiss my ass." Kotsu said, walking out of the airport with his bags in his hand, and sitting in a designated smoking area, lighting his cigarette and taking long drags.

Owl sighs leaving his mind alone and turning away from him. "I think I might have just lost a friend, not that deserve one anyway." She says to her self, then frowns and scolds her self for thinking such foolish thoughts.

She wasn't there to make friends, she was there to steal secrets. This lonely life was one she had chosen and it was too late to regret it now.

The twins were promptly returned to the facility once the mission was completed. They were thoroughly decontaminated from both the Pest Queen's vile blood and any other contaminants from the outside world. Once again, their days were filled with mild conversation between the two, creating various items and recipes in their books and cauldrons, and of course, tests. Various tests, each week. Blood tests, MRIs, CAT scans... machine after machine checking every last part of their body, sometimes there were more physical tests to ensure that the implants were working, or to get a general idea of how far their physical limits could be pushed, and kept constant track of whether their limitations were improving... or degrading.

01 had even taken to scrawling the passing of days on the wall with a knife. seven marks and then move down the line. They... wouldn't be around much longer from his estimation. He ran a few fingers through his hair... and saw the strands that clung to each digit. He had begun to note that he and 02 had been gradually beginning to shed more hair than normal. Of course, they reported this to the scientists and researchers.

Their monotonous days finally ended when they were informed they would be rejoining Denton's agents. They were told to pack only their clothes and that the rest of their possessions would be sent ahead of them. Within moments, the two had taken the identical bundles of clothing from the container and placed them into the bags provided for them. They were escorted down to a nondescript black van. They filed into the back as they looked down at the ground. The man with them were lecturing them about what they should say or do should anyone ask about their personal lives or their past. While the twins knew full well that they were not allowed to talk about anything pertaining to themselves, they were sure that the Maniacles were merely taking extra precautions.

Eventually, the van stopped out of the airport, gave the twins their tickets, and sent them inside. 02 pretended not to notice the man that had begun to follow them from behind. He knew it was to ensure that they didn't try to just run off instead of going through with what they'd been ordered to do. The two got on the plane without incident, showing the airport security the documents provided to them from the Maniacles.

A few hours later, their plane touched down and the two made their way off of the plane. They exited their terminal and soon found the rest of the group. They walked over to them, raising their hands and waving as they did. The twins practically looked like there was a mirror just reflecting the two. 01 was raising his right hand and waving, and 02 was doing the same with his left, doing it almost perfectly in sync.

Fizzy Roy shook his head
"Your subordinates don't seem to like you much, D. What did you do to them?"

He positioned himself in front of the group and stated with a firm yet cool and friendly tone

"All right, you hear the boss, name's Fizzy Roy , I was called as a replacement for one of your team. I've been on battlefields many times, learned many tricks and specially how to survive out there. Hope we get along"

Finished waving his hand as a general salute to the group

After receiving his pay, Q tried to get used to the technology filled world. With not much success, he only bought a few supplies using a debit card. He was astounded that this little piece of plastic aloud him to get items. At first he was thrown out of stores because he offered to trade or do work for the others but times have changed and he adapted.

Among the supplies he got were mostly just seeds as he built himself a mud house. He made a garden and lived off plants and the animals he raised.

He didnt buy a phone but was given one when he left the camp. Apon receiving the call he made his way to the airport and traveled to his destination. When he arrived, he could see the familiar faces.

Seeing his allies he noticed some were different. "did they train like I did". He mostly did meditation to raise his skills and combat focus. He did have a few tree stumps that he hit to strengthen his body. But mostly he used his fire magic. There was no point in hiding it so might as well use it.

He only brought a small bag and his staff so he didn't waste time going to baggage collection since everything fit on the plane.

He made his way over to kotsu and handed him a pair of underwear. "Here, these can't burn off if I light is on fire again"

Sam perked up at Roy's official sounding address. Finally, some measure of- wait.

"Samantha Adams, U.S. military engineer," Sam didn't return the salute. She didn't know if Roy was a higher rank than her. Unlikely, Samantha had been in special forces prior to her discharge, but best keep information not requested to herself for now. "What happened to you?" She gestured at the artificial legs.

Vivian saw Denton and waved back, despite what happened three months ago he was still their superior and should be treated in such a way but it didn't seem to matter all too much since the introduction of someone new to the group. She looked at the man curiously they didn't salute the team but instead waved which was a little strange to her but she didn't mind it all too much, she waved back despite being in the back of the group where she preferred to stay. "Vivian Willborn but please call me Viv, it's pleasure to meet you." She said with a soft smile.

Kotsu took the underwear, smiling with the cigarette still in his mouth. "I don't see you for three months and you give me flame proof underwear for my birthday?" Kotsu said, laughing heartily. "I'm messing with you, it's not my birthday. But even if it were I wouldn't tell you. But thanks. Did you make yourself some?" Kotsu said with a chuckle. "We gonna be twinning it?"

Owl looks about the group deciding that for now she would gather more intel, she notices Vivian off in the corner keeping to her self. Owls curiosity gets the better of her, what secrets was she hiding? She approaches the young woman.

"I've seen you around but I don't think we've ever been introduced. Vivian right?" Owl extends a hand.

Vivian was off in the back admiring the view, since there was no immediate danger she dropped he guard and decided to enjoy the view a little. A voice took her out of her trance, turning around she saw Owl approaching her.
"Oh... no I don't think we have met, sorry yeah I'm Vivian or Viv if you'd prefer. You're Owl right? I've seen you interact with the others." She said extending her hand out to Owl, shaking their hand.

Owl shakes her hand, and steal a memory.

Vivian walked along a street with her arm wrapped around another's, she looked happy. Smiling a lot more back then than she was now, the man next to here was cracking a joke making her laugh. As they paused to look at eachother the man leaned in a little until a noise came from the alleyway they stood in front of, they both turned and looked "What was that noise?" She asked but the man just shrugged his shoulders "Probably a racoon or something, I'll check it out." The man walked into the alley way, getting closer and closer to the noise. Vivian walked behind him but kept her distance until a pest jumped out and grabbed the man tearing him to shreds right in front of Vivian's eyes. Slowly she backed away tears running down her cheeks as she watched.

"Hmm." Owl says to her self, then smiling adds. "Must feel good to finally kill that queen huh?"

"You have no idea how good it felt." she smiled a little, remembering the reason she joined the Maniacles. "Let's just say it felt like I did some good helping everyone defeat the queen."

"Ya well see if those good deeds will continue, I hear we are working for a politician, that's a red flag." Owl laughs. "What do you think of our dear leader Denton?

Vivian rolled her eyes "Oh great politicians I'd rather deal with the pest queen again at least then I know what they want." she chuckled but was a bit surprised by Owl's question "Well despite the way they order us they are still technically my superior so I have to respect him despite what happened." She said shrugging her shoulders "What about you? Any input on Denton?" she asked.

"Ahhh, the loyal soldier type huh?" Owl says with a sigh. "Well to put it bluntly I think he's an ass. Superior or not."

Vivian just laughed "Yeah but I'm not as bad as some I don't bend over backwards to please them." She laughed a little more at Owls comment "I mean to be fair he is but I have a feeling he is fully aware of it."

Owl chuckles with her "That, makes it worse. To be an ass and not know it is one thing, to be an ass, know it, and still be an ass is another level of douchbagry all together."

"Have you looked at the guy. He just has this look of douchbagry, plus the way he talks at one point I wanted to turn of my earpiece whilst we were battling pests." She said rolling her eyes and smiling.

"And the way he acts like he's your friend. You know he called me a Nubian godess once? It's like...bitch if you want to take pokes at my ethnicity I better like a lot before hand."

"Oh god! Did he even think before he spoke?" She asked " I swear that man walks around like he's a peacock, proudly. He thinks he can do what ever he want because he's oh so great sometimes you just wanna smack some sense into him."

"Or out of him." Owl says with a grin, "Maybe both? Anyway, glad we're on the same page Vivian, lets look out for each other out there."

Vivian smiles and nods "Lets go with both. But yeah I'm glad as well, it was nice speaking to you. Definitely don't worry I've got your back if anything happens."

Denton looked around. Everybody seemed present for the most part. He wondered if now would a good time to spring the news. The man they were supposed to meet here hadn't come yet. How long would it be now?

He figured by general principal some of the group would be fairly suspicious of Fizzy Roy. How he already Denton. His sudden appearance. Owl, Kotsu, and Sam were likely to be less then thrilled. Maybe. Denton noted Owl and Vivian speaking, occassionaly taking sneak glances in his direction. Well, that can't be good.

"Your subordinates don't seem to like you much, D. What did you do to them?"

A sly, very punchable smile, appeared on Denton's face. "It's a long story. Nothing to do with why I brought everyone here. In fact I'm not entirely sure myself." He folded his arms. "No lie there I promise. I - Oh, I believe our ride is here."

Seeing the supernatural is to the average man is often a mind melting experience. In the sense he'll do his best to rationalize what he saw or talk about it endlessly, maybe become a believer in some religion. What was coming towards the group was a man Very short, maybe 5'0 - 5'1, a long goatee on his chin. He wore a black suit, a mop of curly hair covered by a black limo type cap. He got closer. They team noted the fact something was sprouting up from the top of the hat. Tiny horns.

Denton blinked.

He stared at the man's legs. The rest of his group did the same. He wasn't wearing any pants. Didn't need to. There weren't normal legs. They were brown and furry, bent inward, and instead of feet there were hooves. A satyr. Everyone looked around the airport to see how people would react, expecting to hear screams of terror or at least compliments about the awesome costume. Nothing. The civilians, the normies, carried on their day without

"Uh..." Denton's voice trailed off. "Are you Mr. Prune?"

"That I am." He extended his hand. "You must be the Maniacles agents? I can tell by the pictures my lord showed me. Did you all get here safely?"

The two had stuck close to one another and hadn't really tried to mingle with the rest of the group as they had been waiting. They seemed rather... anxious. Their anxiety came from two sources, the first being that they had little idea of what their mission here was to entail, and the other was simply that they didn't know how to interact with the rest of the group. They'd been holed up that concrete room for so long and only ever had contact with the scientists and researchers at the facility, that they had never really done much small talk. Typically they were simply asked a litany of questions, and the twins never felt the need to talk to one another too often, so interaction wasn't really their strong suit.

The twins looked at the new arrival and tilted their heads. The man had horns and goat legs. Was... it a demon...? No... that didn't seem right. It wasn't trying to kill them or anything, and none of the people around them weren't freaking out. They wracked their brains for the right word. A weird goat man... a... satyr? That seemed like the right term. The twins smiled at the satyr, Mr. Prune. "Yes we did, thank you for your concern." 01 said, both of the twins bowed politely towards the man in unison. It... seemed like the right thing to do in that situation, almost as if it were a reflex.

In regard to Sam's question, Fizzy Roy took off his sunglasses and gauged her, his glance going from her head toward her legs and then finished on her eyes. He smiled and replied
"That's confidential information, but we can make an arrangement in a more private place if you will, I also happen to be curious about half of your body" He finished by raising his eyebrows twice

Then the Satyr showed up
"Now that's something you don't see everyday" stated not even fazed. He was already used to weird stuff happening around

Kotsu came back in from smoking a cigarette and walked up to the Joe's. "Hey, I gotta ask-" Kotsu stopped short, seeing the satyr. "You've gotta be fucking kidding me." Kotsu said, walking out of the airport and back in to confirm he wasn't hallucinating. "Dude, are you joking? We're fuckin' dealing with Grecian creatures and deities in tandem." Kotsu said, slumping against a wall. "Well, at least we'll be getting paid pretty well. Hopefully in Golden drachmae. It's pretty valuable in today's economy." Kotsu said with a smug smile. "And hopefully a weapon of massive destruction or two. Got something I'd like our fanatic to fix up for me based on a design or two." Kotsu said, pointing his chin at Sam. "Tell you about it later." Kotsu said with a smile.

"Perhaps we will," Sam replied with a shrug. "It is a vineyard, I'm sure there's a rarely trafficked area somewhere." She looked at the Satyr and shook her head. "I need to lay off the caffeine tablets, I'm seeing things."

Brushing off the Satyr as a symptom of sleep deprivation or just another freak, Sam looked at Kotsu. What kind of design was he talking about. "I'm a vehicle engineer, not a weapon's specialist." She tapped the seat of her bike. "Case in point: Pteranodon ATV personal hovercraft, patent pending."

Aria

So we are going to get a mission from one of those deity. Very fascinating indeed.

Aria looked at Mr. Prune's legs with curiousity. She never see satyr before and would like to touch it, maybe took a bite too. Wait, wait, she shouldn't bite their client's employee.

Aria, do you want to taste it? Ichor? I can teach you one or two trick to defeat them.

"Golden drachmae is good." Aria nodded at Kotsu's suggestion. "Collector will pay a lot for that."

.... Feeling ignored, the voice faded back into the corner of Aria's mind.

Mr. Prune explained to team that the Mayor of Passions Vineyard was expecting them at his office. He led them outside to a large limousine, although those with their own vehicles mentioned they would prefer to follow along. The drive to the office provided everyone with an idea of what Passions Vineyard was all about. The homes were all very colonial in style, restaurants and bars on every other corner, tourist shops, lighthouses in the distant. The water that surrounded the island was blue and beautiful, sparking as the sun's rays bounced off it.

People as with any area came in all shapes and sizes, but they seem happier here. Couples walked down the street hand in hand, joggers and dog walkers were out and about, a group of well muscled young men all passed the limo cheering, drinking.

The Mayor's office was as goverment as government buildings get. Two stories, very sturdy looking, colored white. Three flags were waving in. The USA, Greece, and Massachusetts. The Satyr parked the car. Everyone exited. They all walked into the lobby. It was a fairly expansive. Another Satyr this one a woman was working the front desk.

"He'll be in his office," Mr. Prune said. "I'll go see if he's ready for you." The Satyr walked away down the hall.

Denton watched him go. He supposed it was a good time to as any to inform the group of what was going on here. At least what he knew. HQ hadn't exactly been clear about what the god would be hiring them for. Butterflies tickled his stomach. A fucking god. Shit. Eh, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

The Greek gods aren't so different from humans in their wants and desire. They just happen to have a lot more weight to throw around. "Okay, listen. I know things between some of us sort of...uh tense. Yeah. But this is a way different ballpark then the Pests. We're not here for containment. The mayor hired us to be muscle for him. Deal with problems. You've all probably noticed the satyr. This town's mayor is Dionysus. The Greek god of wine, ritual madness, religious ecstasy. And whatever the hell else. Let's put on our game faces."
