Magic ushered in a new world when the code for producing it on-demand was cracked. For nearly a century an untamed arcane revolution reshaped the landscape of a society in the infancy of its industrial revolution, creating an all-too-brief era of innovation and discovery. Then the Hiccup happened, and the code shifted. Not a lot, but enough to render the generations of prior work no longer reliable. That was almost six decades ago. Today the world has moved forward and found new ways to fill the gaps left in the wake of the great mages of old - people look inward and redefine previously held beliefs of the limits of human potential and ability. Great schools of thought and ritual bring forth marvels of the mind, body and spirit that sometimes rival those of the prior arcane arts; the practice of alchemy and artifice produce miracles of technology and medicine, and great airships tread the skies of the Stormbreak Isles.

But the problems of this story are far more grand in their simplicity: the tourist town of Redwater lies at the heart of a strange series of events in recent days. First came the strange lights seen on the horizon, then the unusual weather that preceded the downing of a sky-yacht with ties to the East Kingdoms Company. Now the Company is trying its best to put a hush on things, threatening legal action against anyone who pries too deeply into the affair, despite the dent it's put into the local and regional economy.

With the potential wider implications of this scandal-to-be, the Throne has sent a small team of investigators to look into the matter and determine the truth of things. Aiding them will be a small number of the vampiric sisters of the Covent of the Fair Lady.

Hey there! Thanks for taking a look at this little thing here - hope you enjoyed what you read! I'm looking to run a short-ish roleplay in this revamped version of my longest-running writing project to date (10+ years of work!) wherein you (the person reading this) help give the middle finger to the rich snobs in their high chairs in the most convenient way possible!
The intent behind this rp is to uncover the mystery of the vanishing airship, strange weather and coverup in the works! There's some options for groups characters can come from: including the Vampire Nuns, Squid Navigators, Plague Doctors with Swords, Bardic Sellswords, Capitalist Telepaths, and more!

I tend to respond several times a day if able, at least a few times a week for sure (unless work of irl gets in the way!) and I'm usually available for ooc chat! Most of my replies float around the two to three paragraph rang on average, and I can work with almost anything that isn't just the bare minimum! Overall the setting is a bit of a mix of steampunk and roaring 20's-inspired themes, so lots of fun stuff to be had. Tone-wise you can expect a fairly casual experience; I'm here to have fun and tell an equally fun story!

Can go into more detail for those interested, and if that might be you, feel free to hit me up!

But the problems of this story are far more grand in their simplicity: the good people of Redwater are at risk of losing their homes and businesses to the depredations of the Isles Trading Company. Through shrewd business practices, bribes and blackmail, they've managed to secure a potential deal to purchase great parts of the historic port town for their own purposes. That's where you come in. The civic guilds have raised enough of a fuss to bring the attention of the Throne to the region, who've sent an inspector to look into allegations of conspiracy and all manner of skullduggery in the region. With their own necks on the line, the guilds have provided some of their own rank and file to aid the investigation as best they can, while continuing to fight the process in their own ways.

Which guild do you hail from, though? And how will you use your skills and influence to keep your home free from the grasping clutches of the largest economic power in the Empire?

The intent is to have some characters from the guilds working to further this goal, and have fun doing it! There's quite a few to pick from, but the most noteworthy would be the vampire nuns, squid-priest navigators, militant plague doctors and hex-tablet hackers!
