history.

Being a family-oriented goddess herself, Vesta tries to refrain from having romantic trysts with humans so she could instead focus her attention on her godly family. However, one day Nicholas Andrews caught her eye.
Nick was a quiet man, intimidating at first but whose kindness quickly becomes apparent. He was a firefighter, an occupation which frequently brought him away from home; Vesta, being a goddess herself, was also called away from her mortal family a lot, which is a fact no demigod is a stranger to. However, this caused the young Alex to quickly get used to living alone and taking care of herself.
When she was nine her younger sister, Bailey, was born - again, a child of Vesta and Nicholas. While Alex knows her parents are nice people with responsibilities of their own, the responsibilities of virtually raising her sister weighed on her and she still feels some bitterness towards her parents because of this - especially when coupled with growing up in a small town in northern California where trees far outnumber people, and rumors circulate quickly. Alex and Bailey were the frequent subjects of bullying, further making Alex a jaded individual. Bailey, however, still remains optimistic, and whether that is simply her age or due to Alex's attempts at protecting her, Alex isn't sure, but she does know she wants to keep her safe.

Ellian is kind and sweet and helpful, but he also seems to try too hard to be perfect. It makes one wonder what he's really like.

He can also increase or lessen the effects of fear and panic, although the later tends to make Ellian panic or just tire him out.

— 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘. Ellian always knew he was a mistake. His parents were rich and famous, a politician and a businessman. Yet they were both old. When Ellian was born his youngest sibling was already 16, and most of them were off to college. They hadn't planned to have another baby, but they did. So Ellian always tried to be the best, to be helpful. He studied in school as hard as he could, tried to excel in every sport he participated in and helped out with every chore in the house. He would be the perfect son his parents always wanted, rather than their mistake. Then, when he was 13 Phobos visited them. Ellian finally met his dad, a embodiment of pure fear, a terrible god that loved to taunt people and who saw every one of Ellian's insecurities with a glance. Simply put, he was a nightmare. This reveal came with a few problems. The first being, his mother had cheated. This created a lot of discord between his parents. Especially considering his mom didn't actually know she was cheating. Shapeshifting is dumb like that. The second problem was monsters. They began coming out of the wood works, suddenly noticing Ellian, now that he knew what he was. During the first monster attack he was found by a nearby satyr. The satyr told him about the camp and that he needed to leave as soon as possible. So Ellian wrote a note for his parents and left for camp. Once he got to camp, Ellian worked extra hard to be the best. He worked hard to be a great fighter, tried to befriend as many people he could and helped out as much as he could.

Kali is a girl of contradiction. She has a strong fear of pretty much everything, and seemingly no concept of cause and effect. Things she doesn’t fear would be a much shorter list, since it only consists of one thing - the dark. She loves to find hidey holes and small spaces to explore, unaware and oblivious to the concept that things she does fear, like bugs and snakes, also favor those small spaces. She loves the feeling of flying, but fears falling. She loves the weightlessness of being underwater, but hates swimming and fears drowning. She loves sparring, but fears actual pain and failure. She loves feedback, but struggles to take any criticism as constructive rather than not.

In the end, Kali just wants approval and appreciation, but doesn’t understand that in order to get those things, she first has to step outside her comfort zone and do things worth applauding. Fear lends itself to idleness, paralyzing Kali to the point of inaction. She only acts when she doesn’t understand the consequences, which is a double-edged sword in and of itself, allowing both good and bad things to happen with thoughtless action. All this fear stems from the idea that if she tries, she’ll fail; if she tries to conquer her fears, she’ll get hurt. If she tries to make friends, she’ll just end up friendless. If she puts herself out there, she’ll only be disappointed in herself. It’s a vicious cycle that doesn’t have an end in sight.

history
Beth always had a talent for seeing through the Mist. She’d accepted from a young age that monsters and gods walked among humans, and by the time she was old enough to go to college, had learned respect for those deserving avoidance for those who weren’t. As an undergrad, she worked as a nurse in the local hospice, caring for the weak and elderly while they, for lack of better words, waited to pass on. Every once in a while, she’d encounter a strange dark figure traversing the halls of the hospice, and for a brief while mistook him for an intruder. In fact, that’s how they met - she approached him with the intent of expelling him. Once Beth realized that she was talking to Thanatos, she excused herself from the conversation with embarrassment. Often, she’d leave small offerings around the hospice for him, and occasionally would return to the offerings’ location to see them gone.

Their courtship was short and rapid, and it wasn’t long before Kaliavene was born. Beth managed to receive her Ph.D by the time Kali was born, but with a new baby at home, she didn’t have much time to work or look for employment, so she remained at the hospice, though after Kali’s birth, didn’t see Thanatos again. From a young age, Kali displayed great aptitude for her powers, often being able to hide from her mother and uncontrollably sapping the life from whatever she touched. Beth enforced strict rules because of this - wearing a pair of gloves at all times. She kept Kali sheltered from the world, fearful of not only what it would do to Kali, but also what Kali could do to it. A young child with the ability to take life easily and become invisible would make an outstanding assassin, and Beth’s overactive imagination could think of nothing else except her child being taken from her by all manners of monster, god, and mortal.

Her relationship with her mother is strained, at best. Beth works long hours and often isn’t there for Kali, but still insists on imposing strict rules surrounding where and when Kali can go places, with who, and what to do. Despite being entirely absent, it’s as if her mother desires to run her life. When Kali turned thirteen, she was claimed by Thanatos. It signaled a change in Kali’s life that the little girl was not ready for. Beth knew that she couldn’t keep Kali’s identity secret from her forever, and had already made arrangements for her to live at Camp Half Blood, at least until she managed to master her powers.

【eyes】His almond-shaped eyes are a warm shade of hazel. They crinkle in the corners when he laughs and smiles (which is often) and they always glimmer with mischievous mirth. They make it easy for him to pull off the puppy-eyed look which is his ultimate secret weapon.

【personality】"say hello to the richie tozier of every story. cocky, wisecracking, and obnoxious, this guy was probably voted most likely to go to clown college, if he weren’t a high schooler, of course. this dude is always cracking jokes and making light of situations, even if he’s running for his life away from head-chomping monsters. he spends way too much time flirting with whoever he’s hanging out with, which he insists is just a pastime. he almost jokes a little too much. is he ok?" No, he's not okay.

Underneath the blithe and airy attitude lies a tangled web of insecurity and vehement self-loathing. Leo is far from proud of his parentage and downright refuses to live up to their expectations of him. He marches to the beat of his own drum, perfectly content with being Jupiter's disastrous failure of a son after purposefully destroying his own reputation out of spite.

He does not ooze the natural-born leadership that comes with his blood but he's charming in his own quirky way. Leo's undeniably rather careless and shies away from responsibility like he's allergic, but he is a team-player and looks out for his friends to the best of his ability. His relaxed and easy-going manner means that it's very easy to underestimate him... but that would be a fatal mistake.

【fatal flaw】One of Leo’s (many) flaws is the fact that he can be very reckless. He lives for the moment and his “act first, think later” mindset means that he has a bad habit of throwing caution to the wind and has little regard for the consequences of his actions, often needing someone to anchor him before he gets too carried away. He’s a bit of a devil-may-care loose cannon, far too impulsive and spontaneous for his own good.

- When in full use, his body is constantly conducting and channelling electricity. Overexertion will eventually render him unconscious and leave him feeling sore for days

Aerokinesis: the ability to create, shape and manipulate air.
- An ability that Leo finds particularly exhausting to use; air is an extremely slippery element to bend and needs undivided concentration. He can manipulate it to push, pull and solidify as well as generate air blasts. However, unlike his skilled predecessors, he can't use it to fly as it requires unwavering faith. Overuse leaves Leo feeling fatigued and drained but it's a milder ability compared to the destructiveness of his electrokinesis.

Atmokinesis: the ability to control the weather has always been Leo's weakest link. He finds that it's too temperamental for him to truly get a solid grasp on and therefore struggles to use it combatively. Instead, it's highly receptive to his mood - particularly when he's upset. There have been several occasions where a sunny day turned stormy within a matter of seconds, or, when he was younger, sometimes you'd find him skulking around with a raincloud over his head - literally.

—BACKSTORY.
The whirlwind love affair between the beautiful Camila Mendoza and the Roman god Jupiter did not have a fairy-tale ending. She should’ve listened to her abuela who’d warned her that her next love would ruin her. He’d left her after a few short weeks of sizzling passion and romance, treading on her bruised and broken heart as he walked out the door. When she found out that she was pregnant with his child, she’d ignored her conservative Catholic family’s demands for an abortion, desperately hoping that the birth of their son would bring him back to her.

It did not.

Consequently, Camila was disowned by her family, but her modelling agency was quick to support her and her immigration to sunny California where she raised Leo as a single mother. As he grew older, he became more aware of his mother’s strange behaviour around him. It was clear that she loved him, she made sure that he never wanted for anything, but she always kept him at an arm’s length. He’d once dared to ask about the absence of a father figure in his life, but he’d immediately recoiled, his mother breaking down into heart-wrenching sobs at the question. To see his mother in so much pain... it inspired a kind of anger he’d never felt before, hatred for his absent father bubbling viciously in the pit of his stomach. Leo vowed that he would never have anything to do with that man for as long as he lived.

Unfortunately, he would soon find out that he was inextricably tied by his father’s influence.

As time passed, odd things began happening to him. Some days he’d wake up with his bedhead full of static electricity. The lights crazily flickered on and off during a shouting match with his tutor who didn’t understand why he couldn’t read as well. His laptop fried in his hands. On the morning of his tenth birthday, a letter arrived, and his mother finally sat down with him to tell him about his father. She’d held him in her trembling arms, pressing her tear-stained cheek into his hair. To say he didn’t take it well is an understatement.

After undergoing Lupa’s ruthless training in the Wolf House, he’d been judged worthy and managed to make it to Camp Jupiter relatively unscathed. When asked, Leo handed over the unopened letter of recommendation and watched nervously as their eyebrows raised. He was fast-tracked into the First Cohort and later found out that his recommendation had been written by Jupiter himself. Leo had never felt more disgusted. As soon as he entered the camp, all eyes were on him. He could feel them judging and assessing, pinning their expectations and setting the bar high. They were expecting great things from him... and Leo thought: “fuck them.” He purposely went out of his way to destroy their idealised image of a son of Jupiter, acting up and toeing the line. He didn’t want to fit that perfectly shaped mould that was predetermined for him, he wanted to be seen as himself rather than a child of one of the Big Three.

It definitely worked. Leo quickly established a reputation for himself as Camp Jupiter’s resident clown. His loveable nature ensured that he was never isolated by his peers, but there were a vocal few who would openly sneer at him with scorn and derision, purposefully antagonistic.

“Why is he here?”
“Are they sure it wasn’t a mistake?”
“What a disappointment.”
“I bet his dad’s pissed.”
“He doesn’t deserve to be in the First.”

In response, Leo would merely grin, electricity crackling at his fingertips.

Poppy is an interesting person, to say the least. A well-known shit shitter around the camp, everyone wants to be her while absolutely despising her. She's the first person to tell you if your boyfriend is cheating on you, but then hook up with him the moment you two break up. Seemingly unbothered by the opinions of others, one can expect brutal honesty when talking to the girl. In the wise words of Cady Heron, 'The weird thing about hanging out with Regina was that I could hate her, and at the same time, I still wanted her to like me.' The same exact thing could be said about Poppy. Yet unlike Regina, Poppy doesn't have a gaggle of girls to follow her around. Often times, in fact, she's alone with her own thoughts. Guess that's what happens when you're a bitch to everyone and everything that looks at you. So far, there's no 'soft' side to Poppy either. Who the hell wants to get close enough to her to find out?

Although she doesn't show it, rumors are the real threats to Poppy. Never one to spread them, and even more susceptible to those about herself, Poppy is firm on getting things her way through the truth. Though people are smart enough to not bring up rumors around the girl, it's easy to break her if one starts throwing them out, especially if they have a twinge of truth to them.

Despite always having a seemingly very expensive manicure, Poppy has a bad habit of taping her nails whenever she's bored or impatient.

While Poppy enjoys a good cup of tea or a nicely brewed coffee, there are far more things she dislikes. And she's very vocal about it. The thing that irks her the most, however, is the fake friendliness people often display to her to stay on her good side. She'd much rather someone be rude and mean with their intentions than fake and manipulative. If there's anyone that knows manipulation, it's Poppy.

Since Poppy isn't one to rely on her pure strength in a fight, she focuses on disarming and her opponent through the use of two metal fans. Often kept clipped to each hip, the seemingly underwhelming weapons are quite powerful in the skilled hands of Poppy.

Poppy possesses powers of the more silent type. Subtle and dangerous, it's hard to tell when she's using her abilities.

Amokinesis - Being the daughter of Eros, Poppy has the unique and potent ability to manipulate the desires of others. Although she's also able to manipulate what they love, it's what they want that really allow for Poppy to shine. However, it's fickle and dangerous to use. Desiring something is much more dangerous than loving something, and Poppy knows exactly what a person is willing to go through to get what they want. Campers of all kinds often come to Poppy to have her try and convince their crush to go out with them, and often leave empty-handed and sniffling after she rips through their pitiful request. Since she rarely uses it for the benefit of others, it's hard to pinpoint the weakness of the power. Some say it's amazing and that there isn't a downside, but Poppy knows better. Once Poppy amplifies or puts a desire out into the world, it's very hard to take that sort of thing back. Even if she's able to remove a foreign desire from her target, there'll always be a residue of something wrong there. It's straight up impossible to remove already established feelings, too.

Charmspeak - Desire and getting what you want go hand in hand. A rare ability to have, it's no surprise someone as headstrong as Poppy would be able to talk her way out of any trouble. Most people chalk it up to her being really convincing, but only a few are aware of the fact that Poppy possesses a truly sly tongue. However, she rarely seems to use it, and only seems to call on her most powerful ability whenever she wants to get out of another punishment for making a camper cry again. Since she's out of practice with the ability, Poppy is even more susceptible to the weakness that come with Charmspeaking.

When people meet Poppy for the first time, they often leave wondering if the girl was always that mean. Truth be told, it's a bit more complicated than that...

Growing up to a single mother, life started out hard for poor Poppy. First off, she was named Poppylan. Have you ever met someone named Poppylan? Probably not. Although her mother assured her that her name had a deeper meaning than it seems, the young girl just didn't buy it. Especially after the kids in her class laughed at her when she exclaimed that her name did have a meaning, she just didn't know. Throw in the fact that she was Asian-American with a single mother made childhood a somewhat bitter experience for the young demigod. She also learned early on to not ask Mom about Dad, because it made her sniffle and cry and lock herself in her bedroom for days, only coming out to pull out some frozen bulgogi from two weeks ago for Poppy to eat.

Whenever those episodes happened, Poppy would leave right through the front door and wander on the streets until she found the nearest vendor selling something hot and fast. Of course, she didn't have money, but it also never occurred to the young girl that she needed it. Whenever she asked the vendor for a meal, they'd simply hand one over with a dazed look on their face, and she'd walk right back to the apartment with her hot-dog. It wasn't like Mom was going to mention to Poppy that she was actually the daughter of the God of love and sex, and that people definitely didn't just give out goods for free.

The older she grew, however, it became more obvious Poppy wasn't normal. Whenever she was harassed in school by local idiots, they instantly stopped when she snapped at them. And when people saw others tremble in fear after realizing they did something unknowingly, they stayed clear from Poppy. In their minds, she was just another rising Queen Bee. Of course, there were a handful of students who liked the power she had. Those were the kids who stuck around her and profited off her power over others, despite Poppy seeming to give no shits about them. People rightfully assumed she was mean, but didn't try to guess why.

In fact, Poppy was mean to people. When she looked them in the eye, it was like looking straight through them. She knew exactly what they wanted. Protection, power, or just her. They never wanted to really be with her as a friend; in fact, they hated her. They were jealous, but they were scared of crossing her. It's not like she enjoyed that much power over them, but what else was she supposed to do? It's not like they wanted to be friends with, so why she should offer the olive branch? It wasn't her fault people felt that way about her, all she did was speak her mind and people listened.

As the years went on, Poppy's mother became more shut in. She'd collect artworks of winged men and roses, and the soon their small apartment was overrun with the overwhelming scent of the flowers. She'd sit at the canvas all day, painting the same exact man over and over. When Poppy looked at her mother, she was the only person that Poppy couldn't figure out. She wanted something so badly, but it was fogged over like a steamed glass window. Talking to her was useless, as she only muttered and shoved Poppy away. By the age of thirteen, Poppy was the one making dinner and ushering her own mother to bed, only to come out and pluck dead rose petals up for hours.

Those hours alone at night made Poppy think. They made her angry sometimes, and she'd end up smashing a vase. Other times, she'd break down crying in front of a winged statue. For someone so young, she was quick to discover how much life can really suck. No one liked her at school, and she was invisible at home when she wanted to be seen the most. No one seemed to really listen to her, and only gave her what they thought she wanted. She often wondered if she was a bad person, and if she deserved it all.

It was only a year later that Poppy finally began to understand. Later in the afternoon, the young girl was walking home like normal. However, something felt wrong. The hair on her neck stood up constantly, and it felt like she was being watched. It had been a week since she cleared out the roses from her house, and two weeks since she had last seen her mother, who had decided to only come out at night. Every time she tried to bring back more roses, Poppy simply tossed them out. She was sick of their scent.

If only she knew that pungent perfume was keeping the monsters away. As Poppy kept walking faster, whatever was following her sped up. The streets were dead silent, and soon all she could hear was slithering behind her. When she finally looked back, it was impressive that she didn't scream and faint on the spot. Only twenty feet behind her stood a Dracaena, staring at her with rapt attention. Nearly paralyzed with fear, Poppy couldn't even react when the creature sprung forward with claws extended. However, she managed to say one thing.

"Stop!"

With that, the dracaena stopped in her tracks, a confused expression on her face. Poppy didn't question it, instead turning on her heels and sprinting. The rest of the night was a blur for the poor girl, a barbaric game of 'Red-light, Green-light.' Every time she ran far enough way, the dracaena would begin to advance until she screamed stop again, tears streaming down her face. She ran into the woods, her Hello Kitty backpack bouncing against her every step, leave the streets of New York behind her.

She doesn't exactly remembering arriving at Camp Half-Blood. She did, remember, however, the dracaena slamming into the barrier around the camp the moment she stepped through. After that, she fainted.

From there, it was history. Claimed by Eros, alone in his cabin. Whatever happened after that is lost to the mind of Poppy, considering she never seems to talk to anyone unless it's to boss them around, without her Charmspeak. Sometimes you might be lucky to hear her rant about Eros and his numerous affairs, but that's only if you're lucky. Otherwise, watch out.

Laura is above all things known as a shut in she has issues even leaving her little room in her cabin at times. When she actually interacts with others outside she is very snarky and hostile keeping people as far away from herself as possible. She is known for often giving insults to other half bloods and being overall very spiteful towards them which has gotten her into trouble on more than one occasion. If she sees another mess up you can count on her to bring it up over and over if it bothers them. The only time anyone has seen her friendly is when talking to people online seeming actually nice for that short time. Her fears of just about everyone outside have made Laura into a nearly complete shut in and would almost rather die than leave camp, the only way to get her out would be with a prophecy.

All this is something of a front as all the venom and spite she spews at others is what she feels about herself as well. Laura views herself as the least loved least skilled and lowest of her siblings. She fears others simply being better at her in everything and wants to keep them away to keep what little she sees herself as having. This also plays into her online attitude where she doesn't constantly feel inferior to everyone around her even the smallest of children. Still if anyone could get past all her venom and her issues Laura would likely stick with them no matter what.

Laura grew up with both her mother and father who actually have a good amount of money enough to be called rich. There was some trouble when Laura's mother found out she was pregnant and the time she could have gotten so was when her father was away. She maintained it was her husband that had done it no matter what and they two somehow sorted it out enough that they were able to remain together though there was a wound in their marriage that would last for years. Laura being born albino was also something of an issue though to a lesser degree and despite her parents loving her there would grow some doubt in Laura's heart feeling they were saddened with how she was born. This doubt mixed with her own intolerance of the sun helped make her into something of a shut in even in her youngest years.

It is a wonder someone like her survived her first run in with a monster but perhaps the gods felt like giving Laura a break. Laura first encountered a sphinx that broke into her home, the monster already injured from a small group of half bloods out on a quest needed a snack and managed to sniff out a nascent half blood. The sphinx thinking it had lost the hunters decided to play a game with the young Laura, though not a game of riddles but trivia. It was luck and wit that Laura managed to stall the beast long enough for the supposedly lost hunters to follow after the beast. The group would engage the sphinx and defeat it. This would end with Laura and her parents being told about the half bloods and the danger Laura was now in.

Getting to camp Half blood was fairly easy for Laura thanks to her parents being able to throw enough money at it to easily get her there. Still arriving there and being exposed to so many people and finding herself by far the weakest and the least like any god planted some self loathing and dislike of the gods, that was not helped by the fact she wasn't instantly claimed and instead only claimed after her first year when she tried to make something and found a talent in it. With Laura being the weakest half blood she has come to live in the camp year round and after her second year started creating her own room packed with some enchanted technology in her cabin becoming a shut in that comes out so rarely she is often forgotten about.

‣ personality: Ofelia is...polarizing, for back of a better word. People seem to either love her or hate her, and the cause of it all seems to be the fact that she just doesn't shut up. Any attempted at a conversation with her would be met with a barrage of wise-cracks, jokes, or sarcasm. In fact, if it wasn't for her straight As and star athlete status, people would wonder if she took ANYTHING seriously....Love her or hate her, there's one thing everyone can agree on, and it's that this girl has no friends. Even those who are more friendly towards her noted that she becomes cagey or even downright hostile towards anyone who tries to get to know her. Maybe it's the overwhelming pressure her parents put on her that make her afraid to open up, maybe shes just got some secrets. Despite her lackadaisical nature and shady personal life, she does have SOME redeeming qualities. She hides it behind a layer of sarcasm, but she genuinely cares about people, and will go out of her way to help them. She puts 100% percent into her work, sometimes becoming a completely different person when she gets engrossed into something.

barkskin: True to her origins as a sprout, Ofelia has the ability to meld with the surrounding flora. With this ability, Ofelia seems to phase into nearby plants, becoming indistinguishable from them. Not only is this excellent camouflage, but she is impervious to physical attacks while the tree/plant is in tact. This takes a significant amount of concentration to maintain, and she can be forced out of this form.

Tree Stride: As an extension of barkskin, while in that form, she is able to hop to nearby trees. This ability has a limited range, as it leaves her more vulnerable to being forced out of her tree form.

In addition to the above she is also naturally inclined to archery, hunting and tracking, and easily befriends animals.

— 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘. Her parents met when Diana was making rounds in the forest, scaring off hunters who were hunting out of season. She came across a man, believing to be a hunter, she tried to chase him off. But, she soon learned he was not a hunter, he was just a local farmer who had stopped to help some of the local wildlife. Intrigued by the man, she began paying him visits. These visits were always short and infrequent, but neither seemed to mind. Eventually, however, she recognized that these visits needed to stop. While she undoubtedly loved the man, she feared she was getting too involved with this mortals life. So, on the day of her final visit, she took a stray eyelash that had landed on his cheek, and planted in the ground. She told him to care for this soil as if it was his own child, and one day it will grow into a sprout, something to remember her by. And so, care for it he did. It felt silly, but his faith was rewarded, and eventually two little green leaves poked up from the grown. From there, he watched it grow larger and larger every day, eventually sprouting a large bud at the top of it's stem. While her father wished he could care for his newborn daughter, he was a poor tradesman who hadn't the time, or money to raise a child. Albeit reluctantly, Ofelia was given into the care of her father's well-off cousins, while he vowed to settle with watching her grow up from afar.

The nature of her birth was a well kept secret within the Love family, for most of Ofelia's life she never second guessed who her parents were. Her childhood was relatively tame, though, there was some oddities about her...She seemed inexplicably drawn to the forest, animals seemed to treat her as one of their own, and, no matter what they tried, the Loves could not get their child on a normal sleep schedule. Oh, and there was one other thing

the monsters.

When she hit her teens, Ofelia had started noticing them stalking about the woods from her bedroom window. They used to scare her, but the call of the forest was too hard to ignore. She started testing the waters, hanging out by the treeline and waiting to see what would come find her. They were never able to get too close, Ofelia always managed to slip away just in time. Each day she would tread further, and further in. It was through these trials she discovered her powers. From there, it became like a game to her. Baiting the monsters, and letting them chase her around the forest. They would get close, but she always managed to get away. Though, someone as inexperienced as her could not keep this up for long. A close call with a strix left her injure on the stoop of her father's cabin. Her father found her, and finally revealed the nature of her birth. From there she was sent to The Wolf House, and entered into Camp Jupiter.
