LEvery year, seven new inductees are let into the Amithis Society, a secret society that exists only in the fringes of academia. The Amithis Society is a name whispered in the dark of night, hidden within the dusty tomes of the library, buried beneath the headstones of the nearby cemetery. Some students know of it, but no one knows much, and those few who do don’t dare to share its secrets.
On the first day of October each year, seven lucky students from all backgrounds and places find a tarot card somewhere in their belongings or their room with a message addressed to them, each one tailored to the individual and the role they are being asked to hold in the Amithis Society. However, one common thing remains between each newcomer: they are instructed to meet at the university Clock Tower at midnight on the third of October.
Those who arrive are given some answers, but one does not get access to the Amithis Society’s secrets until they are officially inducted into it. They are told just enough information to make an informed decision of whether to opt out (making for a normal life) or join (giving them an option for potentially great power but with heavy risks). Those who accept must perform the blood ritual that will officially induct them into the society.
At the official masquerade ball to celebrate the new inductees, the newest members of the society learn the true nature of the Amithis Society and hear about the magic that awaits them. But something goes wrong, and it is revealed that after a blood ritual to summon a powerful demon into the realm of the living went awry, the repercussions have affected not only Amithis Society, but magic as we know it. And as the newest members of the society, it’s your job to figure out how to fix it before the layers of secrets not just in the Society itself, but each member’s pasts, threaten to overwhelm you as the darkness approaches.

The Fool

Whether you’re from across the country or even another country entirely, you chose Oak Grove Conservatory above the other choices despite its high tuition and exclusive status. Maybe you know more than you let on, or maybe you just wanted to get away from your hometown. But what are you running from? And how long before it catches up to you?
The Magician

The legacy. Someone in your family or close circle is or was apart of the Amithis Society. Perhaps it was one of your parents, perhaps your older sibling. Maybe even your best friend who you lost touch with. Regardless, you’ve been desperate to get in and learn the secrets that have been kept from you. But what will you do if those secrets are too much for you to handle?
The Hierophant

You’ve always had a strong moral compass, being able to make wise decisions and guide others as well. But those around you seem to forget how to treat each other and end up hurting those you love. With the magic now at your disposal, you can create real change. But are your goals as altruistic as they seem or just a front for something deeper?
The Lovers

You’ve always been there for your person, whether they be a relative, friend, or lover; you followed them here, after all. You promised forever, but ties can be broken and bonds can be severed. Will the Amithis Society bring you closer together or set you on the path to greatness alone? Do you even want that power and success if you have no one to share it with?
The Hermit

You’ve spent your entire life avoiding your problems, but you’ve decided to finally move on from the thing holding you back. However, freedom comes with a price. Are you willing to pay it, or will facing your past break you first? Magic may have been your escape, but it could also be your undoing.
The Tower

You’re the villain of the story, or at least you are in someone’s eyes. You did something in the past that hurt others and you need to make it right. But what does that even entail? Will the power you’ve discovered help you in your mission to become someone better, or will it corrupt you?

rule one.
This rp is strictly 18+! The characters are meant to be university students between the ages of 18-24 and will feature horror/heavy themes, so I am requesting everyone who applies be at least 18. If you are found to be in violation of this rule, you will not accepted to the rp.
rule two.
Only 1-2 characters allowed per person to accommodate for the limited number of roles (especially considering the high amount of reserved roles). It is not necessarily first come first serve, but the sooner you get your application up the better your chances will be (except for currently reserved roles, those are off limits). Depending on interest, I may be able to squeeze in another role or two, but in general, what's listed as available in the lore doc are the only roles you can be.
rule three.
This rp to semi-literate to advanced lit! There's no specific word count, but please write at least 2-3 solid paragraphs per post (not including collab posts, those are fine as long as you contribute). As far as how often you need to post to be considered active, I may put up a biweekly quota, but I won't be too strict on it as I recognize that everyone has a life. If you know you will be inactive, that's fine, as long as you let me know! I definitely want to work with you, so as long as you let me know things we should be totally fine!
