My Interest Check
It's been years since The Desolation. Noone quite remembers what happened to make the world the way it is, only that it was bad. Bad enough to leave most of America a barren wasteland. Bad enough to surface things in London that would have preferred to stay underground. Bad enough that no superpowered indivisuals, heroes or villains, could stop it. Now, it's a lawless world. There is no good or evil. Only a spectrum of grays. People fight for what they believe in, fighting people who would wish to challenge their belief. Really, it's not so different from before.

Anarchy. That's a word that'll remind everyone of the current state the world is in. What used to be a lively Centurion City is now a dormant one, some tall buildings still remained standing, rare ones have some or no destroyed floors, while others have their floors mostly destroyed, or the entire building itself crumbled into pieces. There is a lot less green than before, and smoke can be seen flowing into the air on some of the streets, or on rare occasions, come billowing out of window in some of the buildings. For most of the city, it's a fight to survive in the barren city streets. For Scott Anderson, it's a fight to bring the city as one, to restore the city to its former glory, whatever it takes.

The Scott Anderson post-Desolation looked a lot different than the Scott Anderson pre-Desolation. No longer did he sport his iconic (yet stupid looking) costume. There was no fedora to be seen. His glasses were nowhere to be seen. What he wore now were chest, forearm and shin plates of his suit that was built for him, using it as armor, and wearing faded combat boots, faded grey jeans, a black torn long sleeve shirt, bandaged hands and a ragged hood. His right eye is now his only good eye, and numerous scars on his body show how much he had to live through to get to this point in time.

He looked to the decimated building of what was the Centurion City Hall, though the Planetarian statue still stood, albeit missing a head and an arm and stained with dirty all over. He wiped the sweat from his forehead as the sun rose above the buildings.

"You'll be back. Someday." Scott reassured the ruins, as if he were talking to a person.

He turned around, cracking his knuckles before viewing his surroundings quietly. All these years, he lived as a nomad, just like he did when he was a teenager. Now, he was sick of it. Sick of living in shame, mourning over the loss of billions of people and wishing what he could have done. That was then, this is now.

"I'm bringin' Centurion City back."

Once there was a hero called X-metal. Well, there were 2 heroes called X-metal. The first one had fought in a war that had happened so far back pre desolation nobody remembered it. The second one had died in the Desolation. His suit, however, had not died with him. Somehow it had wound up in the very place it had started in, the EDU corp building. And there is was found by a man by the name of Julian Ackle. The suit still looked the same. Just beat up and damaged. And also it had a helmet now.

Julian Ackle was stalking through the streets of Centurion City, looking for enemies or food. The camp had been starving for a while now. There was a food shortage. Julian eventually found himself in front of the building that used to be the city hall. There was a statue there, but nobody who was born after the Desolation knew what it was supposed to be of. There was also a man. Just standing there.

Scott closed his eyes and took a deep breath, reminising about the events leading up to the Desolation. He stood there for a minute of silence, as a sign of respect to those who died during the catastrohpic event. As he did so, he queitly clasped his hands together in front of him, before looking down toward the ground, his eyes still closed.

Julian hid behind a wall from a crumbled building. He leaned out a bit to watch. Was the man an enemy? Could he take him with his rifle? Was it better to put on the suit? What was going on here? He was just standing there In front of the statue with his eyes closed and his head down. Almost as if he was mourning.

Mourning? Mourning what? Everybody was too busy to mourn. Unless... was he from before the Desolation? That was impossible. Everybody pre desolation was dead, those who survived were also dead. Julian was about to duck his head back in when he saw a spark. A spark? It was... from the Statues neck? And then there was a voice.

Below the statue.

The Legends base was still intact. Weaponary had worked hard to keep it that way. She was still alive. She was always alive. She just seemed to never die. She wished she could. So many had died in the Desolation. Some of them were friends. Her comrades in the New Legends. Dead. Or... maybe not all of them were dead.

Her cameras were picking up someone in front if the statue a very familiar someone. She sent a command up to the statue. It sparked. The chest emblem glowed.

"Hello Scott." Weaponary spoke into a mic. "Long time, no see."

Scott smirked as he heard a voice he hadn't heard since Desolation. He opened his eyes, before turning around to face the statue. He tucked his hands into his pocket, before making his way in front of it.

"Weaponary." He finally spoke, directly towards the statue, though he was really looking at one of the cameras. "Been a while."

Weaponary

Weaponary laughed. This was great. She wasn't the only one still alive. She stretched and put her finger back on the intercom button.

"Good to see you, Scott." She said. Now the goal was to bring Scott down here. "Place your hand on the statues chest. The retinal scanner's still operational. Hope you didn't forget how bumpy the ride is."

Ah, superheroing. It would be good to get back to doing that.

X-metal (Julian Ackle)

Julian watched in amazement. What was going on. Weaponary? Scott? Retinal scanners? Bumpy rides? It was all too much. This tech was way more advanced then most left over from the Pre-Desolation era. But, then again, so was his suit.

Scott had never been so glad to hear a familiar voice again. He took a hand out of his pocket to place his hand on the statue's chest, scanning his hand. The retinal scanner soon activated, and so did the female robotic voice. It scanned his eye, before the voice spoke.

"Mr Sparky, Scott Anderson. How many today?"

"Just one." He said, followed by a soft sigh, before speaking to Weaponary via looking at the cameras.

"All these years, and the tube's only enough for one person?" He jokingly asked as the tube system opened up for him.

Weaponary laughed again as Scott came down.

"Technology is kind of hard to come by these days. Had to salvage some servers from the 50s to keep this place running."

X-metal (Julian)

Tube? What was going on. Julian didn't know but he was going to find out. He ran up to the open hole in the ground and jumped in as it closed behind him. He screamed.

He slid down the tube system, but as he did so, he heard screaming not far behind him. As soon as he landed inside the base, he rolled out of the way to make room for the mysterious person who followed him here, and later the electricity in his hands began to fizzle, making static noises as he pointed to where the person would land, as if his hands were blasters.

When the person landed, waiting till they came to, Scott interrogated him straight away.

"Since when did you have an ID card, eh?"

Julian was a little groggy. What? ID card?

"I just... jumped in. Who are you? Where am I?" It came rushing back to him. All he could mutter was "Shit".

"You're in a place you shouldn't be in, kid."

He kept his sight focused on him, before calling Weaponary out.

"We've got excess baggage in the loading area."

Weaponary walked into the room. Some guy was there. How had he gotten in? Something was familiar about him, though. Or more accurately, something was familiar about what he was wearing. Weaponary walked closer, brushing clothing and dust aside. Blue metal. The X-metal suit.

"Where did you get this suit?" She asked the trespasser.

"I found it." The trespasser said. "In a building. A tall ruined building. There were some words on the side. Couldn't read them. Because they had mostly fallen off."

Weaponary knew which building he was talking about. "EDU corp." She muttered. How had it gotten there?

Scott took a look at the trespasser's suit once Weaponary dusted him off. He took a few steps closer towards him, raising his electrified fist as he did so.

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!" He demanded, ready to punch his lights out. It was evident that he misses the old team. And it didn't help that some dude was wearing the X-metal suit.

"Look man, I don't want any trouble." Julian threw his arms up. "I'm just trying to survive. I just took the suit because it looked like it had use. I acted on impulse and jumped down here. I had no idea any of this belonged to superheroes." As he said the word Julian found himself trailing off. Superheroes? There hadn't been any of those in years. There hadn't been any heroes at all, super or otherwise. There had been noone to give them hope.

"I didn't think there were any left."

Scott calmed down a little, and soon the electricity then faded away. He instead held his hand for him, so he could help him up.

"You thought wrong, kid."

After helping him up, he turned to Weaponary, before giving her a friendly hug. It's been a while since he's had an interaction like this.

"It's good to see ya again, Chie." He spoke softly as he hugged her, patting her on the back.

Weaponary recieved the pat on the back. Then she disengaged from the hug. It was buisness time. She went over to the holocomputer and turned it on.

"Sorry if it glitches a bit." She said. "This place took quite a beating." She brought up a hologram of the city as it was now.

"This is the city. Almost every building has sustained damage. Except, that is, for the EDU corp building. It's shorter but it's inexplicably unharmed. Almost as if it just sunk into the ground."

"Of course, the big bad building full of bad things is still standing." Scott shook his head as he looked at the EDU building. He glanced at the tresspasser, before turning back the holocomputer.

"We're gonna need more than just us two." He moved closer to Weaponary, whispering to her softly as he looked towards the tresspasser.

"You think he'll be up for it? This is the second time the suit's been stolen again, plus we're gonna need all the help we can get. Besides, there's someone that I know might be able to lend us a hand as well." He took a step back to view the glitching graphic, before turning to the tresspasser once more.

"It's your call, Chie."

Weaponary smiled. "We could use the help." She turned to the trespasser. "What's your name kid?"

"Julian! Julian Ackle!"

"Well then, you've just been conscripted into helping us figure out how to bring things back together."

Things could never go back to normal. Not normal normal. But they could definitely get better. They might even be able to bring law back.

She turned to Scott. "Who did you have in mind?"

"I usually pass by the tourist district sometimes. There's a hotel, and in front of that hotel is a lot of bodies. Mostly frozen bodies. And a few broken arrows as well. I don't know her real name, but I hear from some of the residents that she goes by the name 'Snow Arrow'. Or, if she still wants to call herself that."

He paced back and forth for a moment, folding his arms on his chest.

"She's a bit... commanding to say the least, but once you get to know 'er, she's a good person at heart." He stopped, then turned his body to face Julian Ackle, the man in current possession of the X-metal soon.

"You so much as step outta line, I'll make your eyes pop." He then raised his finger in front of the kid's face, before snapping his finger. A blue spark emitted from his fingertips. "Just like that. Got it?"

Julian nodded fearfully. He didn't want his eyes popping. He'd just go along with what everybody said until he was free to go.

"Well, let's get going." Weaponary said. "Let's find this woman and hope she doesn't freeze us to death.

"Perks of a Canadian." This was the first time in a long while since he made a comment like that. Since meeting with Weaponary again, he felt like his old self again during his time with the New Legends.

"You got everything you need, Julian?" He asked as he readied himself, preparing to go back to the surface.

Julian shrugged. He was still a little nervous. But he was also more or less his usual gruff self.

"Yep." He said. "I was out scouting and hunting. Shouldn't be a problem."

"Wait!" Weaponary said. "Before we go, each of you take a communicator." She held out her hand. In her palm there were two communicators.

Scott walked up to Weaponary, taking a communicator off of her hand. He rlthen walked back near the tune system, waiting for the others to ready up.

"You've been down here most of the time, huh?" He asked Weaponary as he waited for the two.

Weaponary walked towards the tube. Julian was in tow. She sighed.

"Yes." She said. "This is the best possible place to hide out in the case of an Apocalypse. It's heavily fortified, well defended, and full of surveillance equipment." She reached for the lever to activate the Tubes in reverse.
