Fantasy Alter Ego: Year One

Alex watched from high up as another drone appeared near him.

“Fangrey” he thought and in a split second the wolf ego spun on his heels and swiped with one furry clawed hand sending a wave of shredding wind at the drone cutting it out of the sky, but it took him a minute to notice the other three drones as well. They were all too far away for Fangrey to attack them.

“Well no use at this point I guess. Fangrey take me to where that Alter is. The one with the Archer Ego.”

Fangrey knelt down as Alexander wheeled towards the ego entering his alter world. As soon as he entered his Alter World the Arc Lord was instantly desummoned and all of his Lessor Arc Lords disappeared. Fangrey then ran jumping from building to building until he reached the Alter wearing goggles and his female ego.



Fangrey waved a clawed hand left a note on the ground before running away disappearing into the nights sky.

Seraphina, Sunny, and Daeva

Officer Larkins ran around the corner of a large building to see the girl that had showed up with the sludge monster standing their.

“There she his.” He whispered to himself as he grabbed the handle of his gun still in its holster. He only had two bullets left in the cartridge. Good thing he had saved it instead of wasting it on that monster. Then suddenly he noticed the woman that was with her. He recognized her immediately and began to sweat. Their was no way he could kill that girl with her around. Maybe he could still take her into custody though. He could always deal with her later and make it looking like an unfortunate accident.

“Ms. White? Ms. Seraphina White? What are you doing around here? As you can see, its extremely unsafe right now.” He said pointing out the multiples of Lessor Arc Lords flying around attacking the police and swat teams as well as destroying public property. But they still weren’t attacking innocents. Instead they were actually protecting some citizens from being inadvertently harmed by the destruction. Officer Larkins chose not to point any of that out though.

“The city is under attack and I good reason to believe that girl is apart of it ma’am. Allow me to take her into custody and I will call some back up to escort you away from here to somewhere safe.” Suddenly a loud gunshot could be heard not to far away.

“Man down! Man down! He resisted! I think he was trying to call one of those things!” An officer's voice could be heard through radio. “Hey you there?! Get down on the ground now! Resist and I will shoot!” The officer yelled through the radio before cutting out. Suddenly every single one of the Lessor Arc lords vanished. In a puff of black smoke they all disappeared.

Officer Larkins looked around astonished. “What the hell?” Then a second later another woman appeared next to Seraphin but it was obvious she wasnt normal. She was slightly a glowing woman with a beautiful face and weird illuminated markings. She wore a long medieval style dress and when she moved she seemed to be floating or gliding more than walking.

Officer Larkins flinched in obvious frustration. “Fuck it you both can just die then. Hail Nighthaven.” He said taking his gun out and pointing it at the three women.

Grunge

The Lessor Arc lords were completely caught off guard by the black sludge egos speed and maneuverability in this form. The spiked ball ego was barreling head first toward the Lessor which would immediately dodge but then it could even jump on the move and rebound off of the side of a building like a ricochet would target them again catching them from the side or the back and in some instances even from beneath them as they flew through the air. But before it could finish them all off they suddenly disappeared into puffs of smoke dissipating on the wind. A note fell to the ground in front of grudge as he slowed to a stop, ending his rampage of vicious killer dodgeball.

Archimedes and Agrotora

The lessor Arc lord that had attacked the Female Archer Ego had intentions of using the flat part of his blade when he attacked but she had somehow seen it coming and counter attacked at the last moment. The lessor Arc lord instead changed the direction of his swing to pass into the path of the arrow in attempt to block or at least deflect it when it suddenly disappeared into a puff of black smoke. More drones began to fly around in the sky above as a furry clawed hand grabbed the top of the roof ledge and leaped up. It was a wolf ego and it waved innocently at Agrotora and put its hands up in surrender as if to say dont shoot me. It left a note on the ground and pointed at Archimedes before it leaped off the building and disappeared.

Alan​

As Alan entered the vehicle he notice a note laying in the back seat of the car.

His chauffeur turned back to explain. “That note was in the car before I got in. I thought maybe you had left it there so I didn’t touch it.” It had kenji’s name on it.



As Alan opened it, it read as follows:



I am not the enemy. Nighthaven is.
If you agree then come to the New Grand Dragon Buffet on the corner of Hyrus Avenue and 8th Street in NGC. Go inside and sit in the last booth on the right side row. It is the one nearest the bathroom and it is a circular corner booth able to accommodate up to six people comfortably. Their will be a note taped to the underside of the table.
Do so in three days at 6:00pm. Dont be late.

The Alter.

(All of the notes will have this same message inside and all of the Alters will rendezvous there at the restaurant. Including Isahito and Hadrian whom received notes prior to the destructive events that recently took place in the city.)

Seraphina White

Seraphina looked back as Sunny spoke and saw her coming a bit closer to her. She doesn't look dangerous at all, Seraphina thought. Given that she's a bit smaller than Seraphina and subduing her won't be a problem but she knew that it is also her duty to give her protection.

"Get behind me..." Seraphina said under low voice, almoffst whispering when she saw a man approaching. Seraphina quickly studied the man who seems to be a part of the local police of New Grand and was alarmed when he reached for his gun. She frowned when he seemed to have recognized her and halted as he spoke. Seraphina gave Sunny a glance when she heard about the officer's suspicion of Sunny but the way that she sees it, that man is much more dangerous than the girl behind her. She was about to ask when they heard a loud gunshot not too far from them and heard inaudible voices from the radio.

It was when Daeva appeared beside Seraphina that alarmed the officer. He was surprised then suddenly became agitated and kept on mumbling words. "Daeva..." She quickly instructed her ego when he heard the officer spoke the word Nighthaven. The ego didn't need a specific instruction to know what to do, as soon as the officer took hold of his gun, she produced black smoke from her mouth and teleported in front of the officer. She didn't need to open her eyes to get hold of the gun that was pointed at her chest and grab it from the man's hand. Then threw it away before grabbing the man's neck.

The officer wasn't given a chance to react or fight back, once Daeva's hand touched his skin, he started screaming in pain as his flesh started burning from the poison that the ego produced from her hand. "Stop..that's enough..." Seraphina knew that the longer the contact, it would surely kill him. "As you wish..." The ego quickly let go off the officer, making him fall to the ground.

Seraphina approached the man with her ego beside her, alert and ready to strike anytime. She's sure now, that Sunny wasn't a part of the group and that Nighthaven had totally infiltrated the local police in the city but what she doesn't know is what she should do with Larkins who's gasping for air in front of her. Bring him in for questioning or send him to the hospital seeing how Daeva's hand was imprinted on his neck, as if a hot iron had clawed his neck, totally burning the flesh.

Grunge
Seeing that the dark Ego's were gone in thin air, Grunge stopped launching himself about and returned to his normal form. He also noticed the note on the ground. Picking it up carefully with boney hand which extended from under his mucky exterior he read it. Now this he needed to show Sunny, he sent signald of urgency to her. He needed her to quickly teleport him and the note. Mostly because that officer threatened to kill his Altar.

Sunny
Sunny kept watching the woman's demonic Ego. She snapped out of it when she heard footsteps approaching. Given permission she went behind the lady then moved up front a little to see. She heard the name Daeva and assumed that was the name of the Ego. She also felt a sense of urgency, Grunge wanted to come back to her and fast. Sunny barely felt as though she got a chance to blink before the situation escalated, the officer was a member of Nighthaven and was threatening to shoot him. Then Daeva started fighting him off easily, her touch seemed to melt flesh. Sunny couldn't say she wasn't afraid of Daeva a little bit now. Nighthaven was everywhere it seemed, was nothing safe? "Wow, Nighthaven is in the police too? Impressive almost. Grunge should meet you..... Also I still don't know your name!" She said quickly since she was still getting the rush of adrenaline out of her system. She focused really hard, sure enough a swirling wet and dark vortex opened, revealing Grunge. His boney hand was still grasping the note which he handed to Sunny. After reading it, she scanned it a few more times. "Also, you'd probably like to see this! Exciting!" She said handing the note over. ​

Agrotora​

Agrotora narrowed her eyes as the Lessor Arc vanished and instantly her mind went to her vulnerable Alter. She quickly took aim at the Wolf-like Ego, but ended up holding fire as she watched him wave at her then signaled a surrender. The Archer Ego shifted her gaze back to her Alter since the Wolf Ego pointed towards him and it was clear to her that this Ego or their Alter weren't going to attack her Alter. Agrotora stared at the ego confused, but still fairly suspicious, and even as he ran off she kept staring in that direction.

Archimedes​

Watching from afar his jaw tightened in anticipation, and it only relaxed when all the Lessor Arc Lords vanished. Adjusting his goggle's vision trying to see what had happened, when the Wolf Ego had jumped from some buildings and was literally in his face. Archimedes yelped in surprised and nearly fell backwards.

The Wolf Ego wasn't actually in his face, his goggles were still zoomed in. As adjusted his vision, he barely caught the Wolf Ego leave a note then run off. While Agrotora was staring dumbfounded, he scooped up the note to see what it was about. His eyes scanned the note closely, and as soon as he saw 'Nightraven' his grip tightened. A mixture of pain and angry filled him up to the point where even Agrotora picked up on it. Archimedes could sense a feeling of her trying to provide some sort of relief but he simply desummoned her.

Even if the note was sketchy, he would certainly check it out.

Screams of horror and pain could be heard coming from the computer screen sitting on his large oak office desk.

Sebastian sat in his office chair and watched the video feed sent to him by the research team he had hand picked to conduct these experiments. It was amazing what such great minds could do when working towards one unified goal. It had taken some motivating in order to get them to agree but after threatening to blow up each of their homes with their families inside, they all seemed to understand the importance of his cause.

The soulscape was a parallel universe filled with unlimited power. The possibilities were endless and they had only touched the tip of the iceberg. He would triumph over his adversaries easily now that he had gained this power. Even Gaia would have to see that his way was true and just and in three years, the coming war with the mysterious foes known as the Nemesis, would no longer be a threat but just another slight annoyance. Another pest to be exterminated. He would let the Nemesis have their after way, for awhile. Then after mankind had suffered enough, he would swoop in with Nighthaven at his beck and call, rescuing all of the world from its certain doom and after all the smoke had cleared, he would be regarded as a savior and whatever was left civilisation would be his to control, to rebuild in his image, and rule as he saw fit.

A slight ding sound shook Sebastian out of his thoughts. It was a notification that someone was at his office door.

He switched the video feed to his door camera. Garth stood there waiting.

“Come in Commander Garth.” He said pressing a button releasing the locks on the door.

Commander Garth was a good leader, and loyal soldier. He had proven that fact multiple times.

Its said that good help was hard to find, great help was impossible. It had seemed that in Garth, Sebastian had found the impossible.

“My leader. Your invited guests have arrived on schedule.”

“Good bring them-” Suddenly Sebastian stopped as he noticed Garth sway on his feet as if over come with a spell of dizziness.

The leader of Nighthaven watched closely with slight concern for his second in command.

As Garth regained his balance Sebastian noticed a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his right eye near the bridge of his nose.

“You've undergone the process for the Nightmare Project? Who authorized that?” Sebastian asked in obvious displeasure.

“As your second in command, I did. I can't do you any goodv unless I'm stronger. Powerful enough to protect you should the need call for it.” he responded wiping the bloody tear away with a cloth.

“You aware of the extreme side effect, correct.”

“Fully aware sir.” Garth responded.

“I forbid you from using this ability unless under the most dire of circumstances.”

“Understood.” Garth responded.

“When did the research team agree the project is ready for human use? I've only seen video results from the experiments on the chimpanzees and canines.”

“They came to an agreement this morning which is when i volunteered to undergo the process myself.”

“How do you feel?” Sebastian was genuinely curious as he had not seen anything this interesting since he had gained his own alter abilities as a child years ago.

“I feel amazing. The power is intoxicating. The energy is overwhelming if not slightly disorienting. I'm sure I'll get used to it very soon.”

“Good. Now that the project has been completed, have our most elite troops treated immediately. Also have the research team erased. We cant have them spreading the secret to this power. Collect all relevant data and dispose of their bodies far far away preferably in the middle of the ocean where no one will ever find them.”

"And what should we do about Officer Larkins?"

"Silence him by whatever means you feel is necessary. Kill him if you have to."

“Understood.” Garth responded. “Shall I bring in your guests now?”

“Yes. Bring them.”

Garth walked out and returned a minute later with two guests. A young woman and young man.

Lilith Devonshire burst into the room smiling and with anxious steps as she made herself comfortable by sitting on the side of his oak desk instead of one of the offered seats.

“Sebastian, Sebastian my dear it's been far too long since we've seen each other. I was beginning to get the impression that you hadn't enjoyed our last little rendezvous. But alas, as can be seen today you just simply couldn't stay away from me, could you “ She said smirking.

By the fact that he had also invited Xander to the meeting, it should have beenc obvious that this was not a personal visit but Sebastian felt no need to point that out.

Xander LeMarcos seemed anxious as well but more anxious to get it over with than anything else.

“Sebastian I don't appreciate you sending your cheap thugs to abduct me. I already told you the first time. My father may have invested in Nighthavens ideals of Justice, equality, and helping free Harbor Heights of New Grand Citys tyrannical rule but I am not. Their is nothing in nothing beneficial for me or GoMach Industries. And honestly, I like things the way that they are. This system has kept my family wealthy and continue to do so. Why would I wanna change that?”

Sebastian sat comfortably and steel faced listening to Xanders outburst. He had certainly grown more bold since the last time they had spoken. Previously Xander had sat in his office weak willed and studdering like an idiot to explain why GoMach could no longer afford to continue investing in Nighthaven because of a drop in sales and how sorry he was and how much he looked up to Sebastian, and a whole lot more bullshit than a cattle farmer could shovel. Xander was naturally a coward and had never fought his own battles in his entire life. Hell, he probably had an attendant to brush his teeth for him.

Lilith was humoured by the scene.

“Wow somebody ate their wheaties and put v on their big boy pants today. You actually kinda sound like a grown up.”

“Shut your mouth you horny skank.”

Liliths jaw dropped. “What did you just call me?!”

Sebastian interrupted putting his hand up to get their attention

“I'm just gonna jump ahead and get to the point. I have reason to believe that both of you were chosen in the last month or so by Gaia to fight creatures called the Nemesis in the coming war three years from now. Am I correct?”

Now Xanders jaw dropped.

They both looked at each other confused then back at Sebastian. It was obvious that niether was aware that the other was an alter.

How do you know about Gaia? How do you know about the war?” Xander asked.

Lilith laughed “ He's obviously an Alter too you dimwit.”

“So? You both have egos as well?” Xander gulped as the information started to sink into his brain.

“Actually,” Sebastian corrected him “I have three.”

Xander slowly sat down. “ You’ve got, got th-three?” He said stumbling over his words.

“Well your just full of surprises arent you? I wonder what other secrets you have?” Lilith said winking at Sebastian.

Sebastian continued. “So Xander, about what you said-”

Xander suddenly began to rush through his words. “Wait a minute, i didn't mean it the way it sounded. Its just that my company is going thru a really hard time financially we can't-”

“You are pathetic, you know that?” Lilith interrupts him.

Sebastian speaks up. “ Xander you were right. I agree with everything you said.

“You do?” Xander asked surprised.

“You do!? Lilith was shocked.

“The old leader if Nighthaven was a fool. I see that the true problem isn't New Grand City but Harbor Heights.

The way that I see it, we need to purge it off if the planet. Its the only way to completely cleanse it off the filth inside. After its been destroyed we canc take property and build anew. The dual city's will no longer be adversaries but equals. We can build the fallen city Harbor Heights to its full potential and both cities can work together to become something greater than they ever could by themselves.

“But wouldn't we need something like a nuclear bomb to completely destroy a city?” Lilith asked.

Yes and we can gain something equal to that in power. All i need are two more Alters to assist me. No more, no less. Together, the three of us can unify the dual cities into one. And we will control it all. What do say? Well will you join me?”

Sebastian asked with a genuine tone of companionship but as the two stared back at him, in the back of his mind, he dared them to say anything else but the word, yes.
