Character Rules.

✦ Currently there are 7 roles open for characters, but I am willing to accept around 10 characters and you are more than welcome to create other roles for your characters. You have a ton of freedom with the roles, please create a complex character with well-written personal motivations. For the Gossip especially I expect an in depth explanation of why they decided to blackmail the others.

✦ Something to keep in mind when creating characters is that they are all filthy rich. I am not opposed to someone creating a character who doesn't exactly fit into the Manhattan Elites, but they have to make sense in the story. Someone like the Come Up who isn't born from money but found their way into to Elites.

✦ Each character must have a secret big enough to cause major problems for them, but must also be believable. Some examples are an affair, drug/alcohol addiction, or family related secrets.

✦ This will be a bit different than other rps, but I would like everyone to include their plot ideas/relationships with other characters. None of this will be canon until the cast is accepted and we can actually plot things out, but since their personal relationships will be a big part of the story I would love to hear what you have in mind for your character. Do the Come Up and the Titan hate each other? Did the Heart-throb break the Socialite's heart?

Merlot carries an erratic persona, not letting herself be predictable enough for others to get comfortable. You'll never have to wonder what she's thinking. Her words usually shoot out without consideration, which has landed her in hot spots more than once. In the past, she's been regarded as calloused and frigid by those who take her personality at face value.

The true Merlot is an intense, affectionate companion to those she's managed to trust. This doesn't come easy to her, so she casts out an arm at all times to keep everyone at a comfortable distance. To trust is to suffer, she feels.

Her words are often a mixture of humorous and charismatic to most, unless she feels she has something to prove. Being a model, Merlot is familiar with the animosity and depravity humankind can allocate; innocense does not fall in her book of traits. Perhaps due to the years of being a pushover, Merlot has begun disregarding social norms, and this will be obvious in any interactions you partake with her.

To summarize, she can be vindictive, bitter, sarcastic, and difficult to crack. But if you manage to, you'll find a softer, intimate, loyal and adventurous girl who just wants to feel safe in her dynamic with you.

When Merlot was a little girl, she craved to be the center of attention. She was a ham for the camera that her parents would break out for home movies, and her love for the spotlight only grew with time. Her mother recognized her as a child with notable physical attributes, and prayed on the opportunity to profit off of it. She used her connections to get her a child modeling career, which ended up skyrocketing her into fame after a couple years.

Merlot's father was a reputable CEO of a shmancy tech company, so she never dealt with the sting of poverty. She had all her physical needs met at all times; despite this, a gnawing void began to corrupt her. People in the modeling business took advantage of her in her youth, swearing bigger and better opportunities as her mother turned a blind eye. "The price all beautiful girls have to pay," she would shrug.

The demands of the business steadily grew, breeding an enormous weight that settled upon her ever weakening shoulders. Nonetheless, she continued into the world of high fashion and strutted runways, posed for magazines, and approached stardom as a highly regarded model. To this day, she is recognized regularly and maintains face for the sake of her reputation. But to be in her line of business, you need to swallow the ugly side of the industry.

Merlot was already in the limelight when she started behaving recklessly, experimenting with drugs and sleeping around. But her party life was cut short and everything was halted when she discovered she was pregnant. The woman had no interest in informing the father, and rapidly scrambled to cover up the finding by leaving the country for a mysterious "personal hiatus". She birthed the child in Denmark, then shortly after gave her up for adoption back in America. The decision destroyed her. She wanted to keep Dahlia, her daughter, but was strong-armed into putting her career first via blackmail.

Despite being able to visit her daughter, who's now three, she regularly feels the sting of her choice and lives in pain from needing to cover up one of the most life-changing experiences she's ever had.

    With a persistently cocky smile, Leo radiates well... you know those people that just radiate rich asshole? Rich, stuck up, kind of thinks their better than you vibes? His hair is generally kept combed and styled, and his facial hair is always neatly trimmed. Motivations: Wants to hide his secret, find friends, and love. Beyond that, he's also chronically bored, so he's looking for a bit of Drama.
Secret: (Had to change because the Socialite has the same one by chance XD) He found out that his companies biggest client is using his company to launder money for a cartel. He does nothing because if he rid himself of them, he'd lose his livelihood.
Reputation: He's famous (or infamous, I suppose) for one thing: His immature lack of experience.

Background: He was born into an average, middle-class family in the southern U.S. He went to M.I.T on a scholarship plus his parent's savings, and got a degree in computer science. He and some college friends made a startup called ZipShip, a company that helped move and update server data. It blew up and got him and his friends billions of dollars, money he used to get an apartment in New York and look for new opportunities.

Personality: He's extroverted and outgoing, but also a bit shy. He is very naive and inexperienced (as you'd expect given his role). Virtues wise, he's friendly, kind, polite, and energetic. Vices-wise, he's messy, immature, and harbors aggressive thoughts. He can be obnoxious and unintentionally rude, especially compared to the others surrounding him. That'll probably cause him a lot of pain throughout the RP XD.

Your Plot/Relationship Ideas: I think my character and Leo being foils would naturally lead to either a friendly rivalry or lead to us being enemies. Maybe Kiddo and I could be friends? There's not much on his character so I can't be sure. Also, perhaps I and Devin could be friends? It also seems that Anna and I could be romantic interests, though I'm not fully sure.

Since he was a little kid Sylvester had a hard time telling the truth, afraid of what might come if he did so he just took the easy road out and lied until he would get spun in a web of lies. As he got older, the more he started to tell the truth but this got him into more trouble and was exactly what he wanted to avoid.
GREEDY
He had always been spoiled, his parents got him everything he ever wanted until he ran out of things to want. Sylvester was not the one to share his wealth and neither were his parents, they didn't give out to the poor unless it was some kind of charity event to save face. This obviously rubbed off on Sylvester and even though he had friends who cared a lot more about the problems happening around them, he never got the hang of it and often felt like the odd one out.
SHORT TEMPER
Sylvester loves football, what he likes less is to lose, he will do anything to win and is very competitive. It's a shame he has such short temper, ruining his chances at any sportsmanship there was left. He has the tendency of kicking his teammates, playing foul and injuring the opponents.
VIRTUES
CHARMING
Though many have been subject to Syl's charms, it definitely is no secret that he is a smooth talker. Sylvester uses these charms to his advantage whenever he can but it holds little substance, especially when you get to know him. People want more of him than he can give, he has incredibly high walls up that show no sign of lowering any time soon.
INTELLIGENT
It's not too far off if you see Sylvester as another dumb jock but he definitely has a brain in there, without trying he easily maneuvered his way through high school and college focusing on a thousand other things besides school. He doesn't care to do anything with it at this moment because he has his eye on the prize, which is sports and sports only. Sylvester is maybe intelligent but he doesn't think outside of the box so you wouldn't see him picking any other lane before he knows for a certain he can make a shit load of money out of it.
DILIGENCE
He puts a lot of hard work into football and is eager to be the best, to be looked up too and to be admired, this takes a lot of effort and training which he puts in every single day. All to be the star of the show someday.

SECRET
at 19 years old Sylvester was not much different from the grown up he is now, he was partying every weekend and threw some great parties. He had been with his girlfriend for 4 years when he met this girl, blonde hair, big blue eyes and a teeny tiny waist. Sylvester was doubtful at first, reluctant to follow her to his bedroom but once they kissed the ice had broke and they recorded a sex tape, his girlfriend never found out until this day though the blonde girl claimed to have lost the tape Sylvester is paranoid someone or somewhere it might be found.

HISTORY
Sylvester grew up in an apartment with his three siblings, his parents were still together and even though they were both overworked he connected most with his father. They pushed him a lot and wanted him to do good, be successful, find a real job, stuff like that. At age thirteen, he lost his father due to a car accident, drunk driving. It didn't come as a surprise to Sylvester knowing the relationship his father had with booze, the same one his mother adopted years after his death. They don't get along well but with a nice pocket change every month Sylvester comes by, he relies a lot on his mother and has a hard time finding something he's actually passionate about.
