All Crazy In Our Own Little Ways {Undertaker and VampireByte}

I was thinking, to get Dracul to come back today maybe someone who knows him from the department could be asked by someone(higher up I was thinking), to go to Dracul’s apartment or whatever to tell him come back and see what’s up with Adam? Or maybe for a different reason. So maybe we can switch to that if you want, 'cause my ideas are kinda running out. )


“He’s been on edge lately. So have a lot of patients though.” Commented the nurse, adding with a smile to the two male nurses, who had just finished laying down Adam, she herself picked up the empty and pixie cup of pills in one hand. “Thanks for coming when you did; I was afraid he was going to hurt someone, or himself.”
 

/ Hmm...I could time skip to the next day instead if you'd like? \

As Dracul made his way into room 212 the next day, having been well informed of the boy's episode while the Doctor had been away, Adam seemed quite different then the past two days, the boy letting out a heavy sigh as Dracul entered, Adam sitting silently on his bed, with closed eyes, having been given the medicine that Adam clearly needed to help him.


"What makes you think you can help me?" The boy suddenly wondered, opening his gaze and turning his attention to the Doctor as the man walked in.

Dracul stared at Adam for a moment, a little surprised that he had finally spoken to him. Then he shrugged, taking a seat next to the boy’s bedside. “I don’t know to be completely honest. Really anyone can help you, Adam; but it’s up to you whether let them or not.” He answered, setting down his clipboard and pen on the nightstand to his right, next to the window. True, he had been told about the boy’s fit, but he hadn't been told a reason for it; though you didn't necessarily need a reason to have a mental break sometimes. He had a whole day, and a half, to rethink his approach to Adam, and decided to take it much slower, but with maybe with some more force in his ways. He was, after all, still a teenager and medications and sedation couldn't be his life forever, now could they?
 

/ Maybe the good Doctor could also try using the ability that we gave him as well? \

The boy certainly seemed troubled. Why was Adam suddenly questioning on whether or not the Doctor thought that he could help him? Adam swallowed hard and let out a deep shaky breath, coming his slightly trembling fingers through his raven hair, frowning a bit before wrapping his arms around himself and leaning over, closing his eyes and just breathing deeply, almost as if he were meditating.


But then, the boy straightened his posture and slowly opened his eyes, rubbing his face with his hands and letting out a deep breath, really not sure what all he was wanting as the boy sat there, turning his dark blue gaze to his hands, swallowing hard, biting at his lower lip.
 
Oh, yeah, forgot about that. xD Will do. )


Dracul smiled softly, turning to his clipboard. “Okay, I’m going to try something to help lessen your fits; but you’re going to have to help me out on this one.” He told him, scribbling down a few things on his sheet and setting it down once more. “First, can you close your eyes for me?” He asked, deciding to attempt voluntary hypnosis before trying to do it without Adam’s knowledge, though that could be easier; trust was important in this exercise, and the doctor didn’t know if the boy would allow him to ‘pry’ into his memories.

Curious, the boy looked up at the Doctor as the man made notes on whatever sheet form Dracul was scribbling on. Just what was this Doctor up to? Adam wondered, debating on whether or not if he should. But then, a bit surprisingly, the boy did close his sapphire blue eyes for the Doctor, a bit of a frown on his face as he did, wondering what the Doctor was going to do right then to try and "help" him.
 
Dracul took a deep breath, toying with a strand of hair for a moment before he focused on the task ahead of him; “Now, I can’t make you do anything you don’t want to do, Adam.” He reassured the boy, leaning forward so that his voice could be heard more clearly. “Try to get into a comfortable position, because we might be here for a while. And I want you to hold on to my wrist with your right hand…” Here he guided the boy’s hand to his wrist. “…And if you feel scared I want you squish, understood?” He paused then, starting up again in a soothing, modulated voice after he checked Adam’s expression to see any signs of stress or unwillingness. “Now, I want you to relax; take me back to yesterday, and we’ll work our way from there; it's morning, the sun is out and the birds are chirping, the female nurse came in with your breakfast, where are you, what do you see?And how do you feel?” He asked, beginning the hypnosis.
 
Yesterday...Slowly, Adam's head dropped forward, his hair hanging a bit in front of his eyes, this time, the boy's grip on the Doctor relaxed. Yesterday..."I'm...I'm here...In my room..." The boy seemed a bit hesitant in answering. "Then...After..." Adam trailed off, his breathing quickening as the Doctor tried to get him to open up through Hypnosis, and in an instant, Adam's demeanor changed.


"No..." The boy groaned, and instantly his hand clamped tightly around the Doctor's, much like that of a snake bite would feel, the boy's fingernails even digging into the man's skin.
 
Dracul winced, feeling the patient’s nails digging into his flesh with vigor, still, he didn't move his hand at all nor tell Adam to stop, instead he inquired in a calm, measured voice; "What's wrong Adam, do you want to leave this place? What's happening to you?" According to the nurse that had been present yesterday, Adam's fit wasn't until she went to get a replacement of his medications, so it was odd for him to be reacting so soon; still, he was going to try to ease his way toward that event 11 years ago.
 
Quite suddenly, the youth growled and yanked his hand from the Doctor's actually giving the Doctor a few scratches, unintentially however. With a groan, Adam leaned forward and buried his head in his hands, breathing hard, something wrong...


"Uhhh...The Hell was that?" Adam demanded in a rather gasping voice, turning angered blue eyes onto Dracul, meaning the Hypnotism that the man had just tried with his patient.
 
"Hypnotherapy." Dracul said, "Or at least an attempt at it." He added rather dryly, examining his wounds and sighing in resignation to the long road to curing Adam. Maybe an outside session could work... He thought, remembering Carson hadn't been out for a few days, at least according to his medical sheets, plus a nice stroll could do well for the good doctors done in state; which wouldn't be much help to anyone, let alone Adam.
 
The boy stared up at the Doctor with wide dark azure eyes, slowly blinking at the man. Hypno-what? Adam swallowed hard, rubbing his face with his hands before combing slightly trembling fingers through his hair, letting out a deep shaky breath, not really sure what to think about what this Doctor had just told him.
 
The doctor stood, taking up his clip board and glancing at the scribbles that most likely no one but him could read. “Yes, hypnotheory; it works just like hypnosis, but a little different.” He explained curtly, setting his clipboard down after folding the papers and stuffing them in his pocket, along with his his injured hand. “How about we go outside? It’s a nice day and your need to get some exercise.” He added, trying to changing the topic in order to avoid delving any deeper into the works of hypnosis as the more he explained it the more he knew, or thought, Adam wouldn’t believe It actually worked. In a way that thinking wasn’t far off, therapists could, in fact, create false memories in patients, both unknowingly and purposely, though the former was unlikely, at least from any experienced psychiatrist; there was a case of one Nadean Cool of Wisconsin, in 1986, went to a psychiatrist to cope with a traumatic experience, in the process the psychiatrist used hypnosis and various other questionable methods to ‘pry’ buried memories out of Nadean, in the process became convinced that she had repressed memories of being in a satanic cult, and being forced to watch the murder of her eight-year old friend. She came to believe that she had more than 120 personalities-children, adults, angels and even a duck. When Cool finally realized that false memories had been planted, she sued the psychiatrist for malpractice. In March 1997, after five weeks of trial, her case was settled out of court for $2.4 million.* Because of that, and various other cases of patients developing false memories from hypnosis, just hypnosis in general, it had gotten a bad rap from assorted media outlets, magazines, television and the like, and even well-known scholars in the latter half of the 20th century and still to this day people doubted its effectiveness and authenticity.

The boy rolled his eyes when the Doctor mentioned going outside, Adam really feeling no inclination to do so, and indeed the youth made no move to go outside with the Doctor, like the man had suggested, though Adam was glad that the man had changed the subject, as Adam really wasn't sure what to make of what the Doctor had just tried with him, the boy frowning as he absently plucked at the bed sheets underneath of him, a long heavy sigh escaping past his lips, the boy not looking at the Doctor again.
 
The doctor frowned as the silence grew thicker in the homely hospital room. Well, looks like walking it out is out of the question. he thought, his mismatch eyes shifting from the doorway before him to the boy resting on the bed; he felt like he had lost Adam’s trust, or at least but little trust he had been able to earn over the course of two days. He still had about thirty minutes left with Adam and he decided emphatically that he’d stay those thirty minutes even if it meant just sitting there in silence, but he would not be sent out of the room with a strangled neck and headache like last time. Seeing as the normal asking about "what happen that day?" type therapy didn't work with Adam, Dracul would have to play a different hand for the time being. Seating down again Dracul fished about in the briefcase he had brought with him, producing a hard-cover book with a plain black dust jacket and a pale red satin ribbon servicing as bookmark, opening it he sat down on the floor, next to the window; opening the volume he flipped through several pages until he found the page he had been searching for, and as he settled down he began to read the hefty tome.


(starting to realize Dracul is probably the worse psychologist/counselor ever...Sorry but I've never really role-played a psychiatrist or anything of that kind.)
