Alien life DOES exist! (BearClaw & LittleMissLeprechaun)

BearClaw

Princess of Hell
For centuries there has been talk about aliens visiting the Earth but never any scientific evidence to prove it, well, enough to convince everyone anyway. The year is 3856, a time of efficient energy and holiday resorts on the moon. Most animal species are now extinct from the lack of knowledge and care of previous generations. Of course there are still some scientists that believe in life on other planets but even with the improved technology and frequent travels to space nothing has been found that relates directly to life in outer space.

Name: Liam Wilson

Age: 20

Race: Human...

Gender: Male

Personality: Liam loves the latest technology, especially computers. He prefers them to people a lot of the time. Except for his best friend - George. Liam's flat where he lives is a perpetual mess, but he likes it that way. He says it makes the place more "cosy" and "lived in". George agrees. Liam is unemployed. But hey - at least he doesn't live with his parents anymore, right?

History: Liam has never been accepted into normal social circles, and he was always being called a "nerd" or "geek". It used to bother him a lot, but now he's used to it so it hurts him a lot less. Liam goes through "phases", as George calls them, but they're more like obsessions to Liam. His latest "phase" is alien life - he's positive it exists. Georhe isn't so sure, but he's along for the ride.

Other: Both Liam and George have never had much success with women...

Shana groaned and leant back in her chair, no one had told her it would take this long to get to Earth, granted, it was one of the closest planets to theirs that they visited so she shouldn't complain.

Just as she was about to get up and go get something to eat the computer system in her ship started beeping. She pressed a few buttons and soon an image of a planet popped up onto the screen. It was blue and green mainly with a few white clouds swirling around on the surface, Earth, she had finally arrived.

Liam sighed and clicked the pause button. "Who is it?" he called, wading through piles of his dirty clothing on the floor towards the front door. "It's me - George!" a muffled voice replied. Liam swung the door open, its hinges creaking. "Come in, then. I thought you were the landlady for a second," he laughed, moving his hair away from his eyes. "What have you been playing, Liam?" George asked, motioning to the computer. "Oh, just this and that," Liam replied, trying to play down his excitement, "I found my old Sims game!" George gasped, "That's awesome! Does it have multiplayer?" "No. It's Sims, George! But don't worry, you can watch me play for a bit and then you can have a turn."

Upon entering the atmosphere Shana gasped, Earth was so much more beautiful in real life than in any holographic images she had seen. She shook her head, she had to find a place to land, and fast, her ship was hurtling towards the surface of the planet. She quickly typed in a few commands on the computer and the ship leveled out, it began descending at a slower pace. As she got closer to the ground her computer picked up an area with very few human life forms, it was a large green area with many trees, she brought her ship down softly and climbed out.

"Liam, I'm bored," George moaned. After 10 minutes, he was getting tired of waiting for his turn. "Let's go to the park!" he suggested, suddenly brightening. Liam gasped as George's idea dawned on him. "Maybe we'll even see aliens!" he gasped, swirling around in his grime-covered leather backed chair. "They've got those new life-sized chess boards too!" George grinned, disregarding Liam's odd interjection. "But let's not forget to save!" Liam smiled, clicking rapidly. Soon, his overworked, ancient computer began to shut down. But the front door had already slammed shut and all was quiet in his apartment, except for the distant drumming of excited footsteps on the stairwell.

Shana pressed a few keys on the outside of the ship, causing it to go into cloaked mode and lift off the ground to hover about a kilometer or two up so that no one would find it. She untied her hair so that it fell in front of her face to hide her red eyes. She noticed that her clothing was very different to those of the humans and she was already getting a few stares from passer-by's. She knew she would have to find somewhere to get Earth clothing, soon. "To start off with it should be okay since our languages are very different and these humans might think I am from another sector of the planet. But once I learn their language I will need to get similar clothing." She thought to herself as she wandered through the park, keeping an eye out for anything that may be of importance to her mission.

Liam and George walked as quickly as they could towards the life sized chess board. They were so intent upon their "mission" that they didn't see the strangely dressed woman hurrying in the opposite direction - until it was too late. The trio collided with a loud whump and they all fell in different directions, legs and arms flying. George groaned and scrunched up his eyes, moving his hands back and forth over the pavement as if searched for something. Liam rubbed his head and sat up, dazed. A second later he said, "George! What are you doing?!" George mumbled his reply, "Looking for my glasses..." Liam sighed and struggled clumsily to his feet, "You don't WEAR glasses, numbskull." Turning to the unknown woman, he sheepishly offered her a hand, to help her get up.

Shana wasn't looking forward as she walked which was a mistake, the next thing she knew she was on the ground along with two other guys. she took a deep breath and accepted the hand that was offered to her. She opened her mouth to thank the guy who had helped her up and then quickly closed it again, she couldn't speak their language. She bit her lip, a worried look coming into her eyes, "Rkie lle" she said quickly before turning and walking away. She knew he wouldn't understand but she had to thank him. Maybe she would see him again sometime and then she would be able to thank him in his language.

George struggled to his feet next to Liam, then seeing the open-mouthed wonder on his friend's face, he asked,"What? What happened?" "She... She spoke to me..." Liam whispered slowly, a slight smile pulling at one corner of his mouth as he watched her walking away. "Aaand?" George said, slightly frustrated. He waved a hand in front of Liam's face. "Hellooo?" Liam frowned and shook his head. "Nothing... It's nothing... You still wanna play chess?" he asked, trying to regain his previous cheery demeanor. "I wonder if I'll ever see her again... She is so, so -" Liam's thoughts and daydreams were interrupted as George dragged him towards the black and white squares, painted crudely on the cracking concrete.

The first thing Shana did was find a clothing store. She walked through the racks, looking at what they had in stock. To say the least it was very different to what she was used to. She frowned when she figured out she didn't have any Earthen money, she would have to go back to the ship and figure out a plan.

She walked out of the store and made her way back to the park, once there she took her time wandering between the trees until she came to the spot where her ship was. She scanned her finger on a patch of fabric on her skirt and then watched as the ship uncloaked and descended. She climbed aboard and put it back into cloak mode.

Liam had taken to staring in the direction she had walked off in, and George was getting very annoyed with this. He took at least 30 seconds to think of which move to make, which was a lot compared to his usual five seconds. "Liam, something happened to you. Maybe you hit your head too hard or whatever when we fell back there," George sniffed. "I'm going home." Liam snapped out of his reverie long enough to glance quickly in George's direction, "Ok..." he nodded, "I'll catch up with you later." "Sure you will," George muttered as he walked away, feeling dejected. I'm sure he'll snap out of it soon," he thought. Liam, on the other hand, stayed perfectly still, leaning up against his king piece. On a sudden impulse, he sat down on the concrete and pulled over the queen piece. "Hi, I'm Liam," he introduced himself. He sighed and shook his head. "Too ordinary," he sighed. "Hey. What's your name?" he tried again. He flicked a strand of hair out of his eyes and readjusted his glasses. "It's never going to work on her. Anyway, I'll probably never see her again.." he thought miserably.

Shana walked around the ship, thinking. "Computer, install the language 'Human'." She said as she walked, she had to communicate with them at some point. "Program is invalid, 'Human' is not a known language." The computer responded. She sighed and sat down on the bed that she had been sleeping on since she left her home. "Computer, what language is spoken here?" She asked, her people didn't know enough about humans to give her the language before she left, now she had to figure it out on her own. "In this sector, 'English' is spoken, if you travel to other sectors there are many other languages." The reply shocked Shana, since on Xyria only one language was spoken. "Okay computer install English." She hooked up a few wires to her head, lay back and closed her eyes. After a few minutes the computer spoke, "Program 'English' has been installed, you may now disconnect."

Once all the wires had been taken off she stood up and once again exited the ship, sending it back to hovering mode. "Okay, one problem sorted, now to figure out how to get clothes."

Then, he saw her. She seemed to have appeared out of nowhere! Liam shook his head, he must have been so focused on rehearsing his lines... He scrambled to his feet and ran towards her, wind rushing past him and chess pieces flying in all directions. The fields became a green blur and the chessboard merely a forgotten memory as she became the focal point of his attention. In that moment, as his legs pumped below him like steel pistons and his lanky frame sped forwards, he felt like he had never felt before. Breathlessly, he slowed down a few paces behind her, trying to calm his pounding heart. "Hey!" he called out, feeling all of his practiced words slip away and his vocabulary decreased to single syllable words. He bit his lip, hoping she would turn around and see him. "I hope she understands me!" he thought worriedly, "Last time, she spoke a weird language..."

Shana heard feet moving quickly towards her but she took no notice. Probably someone who was interested in her strange clothing. When she heard the voice however she turned, she knew that voice. "You!" She was so surprised to see him that she forgot for a moment that was going to thank him. "Oh! And thank you for earlier, I should have looked where I was going." The words sounded strange on her tongue, as most new languages did.

Liam puffed out his still-heaving chest and grinned, "No problem. I should've too... You look like you're going somewhere? Need help?" He smiled again and sighed as he felt how surprisingly easy it was to talk to her. And he hadn't stuttered once! Then he realised his mistake. Why would a beautiful girl like her need his help? He frowned slightly and looked away, trying to hide his shame, plastered all over his burning cheeks.

Shana smiled at him, then looked down. How was she supposed to ask him about their currency without giving anything away. She thought for a fw moments. "Uhm, I was wondering if there was anywhere near here where I could get a job, I am a little low on money at the moment and I need to get myself some things." She gestured to her clothes, anyone could see that they weren't normal.

A sudden idea flashed through Liam's mind. It was ridiculous. Proposterous, even! But he had to do it! "Here," he said, pulling a wad of cash from his pocket. "Use that. A-and if need any more, I - I can help." He looked down at her, she was smiling! At him! His heart leapt with joy, and a grin spread across his face. "At my work, they're looking for another person to help in the IT department... T- that's where I work! B-but of course, you would n-need some training..."

Shana was surprised when he offered her money, "I couldn't possibly take your money! I barely know you!" She shook her head, "But the job offer sounds great!" Considering what she had learnt about Earth technology it didn't seem like it would be too hard to learn what needed to be done. "I would be happy to undergo training if it gets me a job."

Liam was surprised at her refusal of the money, although he was also relieved. The money was actually the last of his salary for the month and oh yes! he was supposed to buy groceries with it. "Weeelll... I w-woudn't mind h-helping you, if you want...?" he suggested, blushing again in the intensity of her eyes. He glanced away for a moment, and then stepped back. "I don't mean to be holding you up like this..." he said, smiling softly. Suddenly, he felt shy. "You said you needed to go b-buy some things? I d-do too. Do you know where the m-m-mall is? Because that's where I'm g-going now. If you want to come you're -" the words fell clumsily from his mouth, just like the chess pieces half a field away. He sighed, "Would you like to come to the mall with me?" he asked, hoping against hope that she would agree.

Shana listened patiently to the guy as he spoke. She nodded, "I would love to have some help in learning the IT work." She laughed when he apologised for holding her back, "Don't worry, I don't really have anywhere specific to go at the moment, I was just looking for a job, and now I have found one, thanks to you." She had never been to a 'mall' before and it interested her, maybe she would learn more about the humans if she went with him. "Sure, I will come with you, I haven't been to the mall here before."

Liam's heart nearly burst with joy and he remembered just in time to stop his mouth from gaping. He didn't want to look like a goldfish now. Maybe with George, but not with - ... He laughed. "My name's Liam. What's yours?" he asked, turning and gesturing for her to walk beside him. "Hmm...I think I'm going to take her the long way to the mall. She wouldn't know, and I'd get to spend more time with her! Yes, definitely the long way around today... This has got to be the BEST day of my life!" he thought, his plans with his best friend falling by the wayside as this new female took the spotlight.

Shana smiled, she had never heard the name Liam before, "I'm Shana, wasn't there someone else with you when we first ran into each other?" She asked, wondering where he had disappeared off to. She walked beside him, looking around at everything as the made their way to the mall.

"Oh yeah! That's my friend George." he smiled. They approached the tall building and Liam held a murky glass door open for Shana to walk in. "The women's clothing section is to your right," he said, suddenly realizing that their time together was at an end. He sighed softly, hoping for it to go unnoticed.

Shana nodded as Liam told her about George. They reached the mall and she walked through the door Liam held open for her. She looked to the right and then turned back to him, "I don't have any money with me at the moment, that was why I needed a job, would it be okay if I stuck with you for a while?" She asked, not wanting to get lost in the large building.
