He put his hand behind his head awkwardly "doesn't matter, what are you good at with AT's?"

"Well obviously if I'm willing to race with a stranger while putting my parts on the line." She replied matter-of-factly. Kat, who was initially a bit nervous and excited, was calming down and gaining confidence as time when on.

He offered her his hand to shake "call me Nano, for this race, you're the runner, I'll be the hunter"

Kat accepted the handshake. "You can call me Kuro Neko. Or just Kuro or just Neko is fine." There's no way she was about to give a stranger her real name, so why not translate her American street name into Japanese? She was in Japan after all. "Great, I'm an agility/speed rider so the dasher is my favorite position."

"Aye aye. You head as fast as you can to the finish line, I'll slow and wipe out the others" he grins, though it's hidden behind his reflective mask.

"Sure." Kat said as she put her arms behind her head in a non-caring gesture. "Sounds good to me." She heard the snickers of their cocky opponents. She thought about what might be so funny and almost immediately got her answer. Their opponents were up against to masked weirdos who had met for the first time and had no assessment of each other's skills. If she were in their shoes, she would probably be laughing too. "Oh well. If push comes to shove I'll win without this guy's help." Kat was never very fond of losing.

Train nods and cocks his head at the middle schooler; then his two opponents "you all ready?, we've already decided on the finish line" he points to a large carrier ship near a dock. It's a long dash to it "first person onto that ship win, got it"

"Got it." Kat took the black headphones from around her neck and placed them her ears. She selected a song from her iPod and placed it securely back on her hip after cranking the volume up. She then got into position at the starting line.

Train took his position beside her, playfully patting the girl on the head as he waits for the other team to prepare; he quickly adjusts the motor back to lacking the speed limiter, the Tool Toul Too are a really useful group. "Well... 3... 2... 1" he waits for the others to call out the final part.

"Go!" She heard over the noise of her music. A while back she had a tuner tuner her iPod to her ATs so that as long as it was working and in range the faster she went, the louder the tunes got. Kat and her dash opponent started off the race neck and neck.

Train burst ahead of the guy with him, going am straight for the racer that was with Kat. He ducked lower to decrease wind resistance as he picked up speed. Objective: Delay all those who oppose the middle schooler.

Kat sped up to the fast paced music, making the song get louder. As the beat pulsed in her ears she felt a disturbance to her left. She jumped into the air just in time to see the other team's hunter swipe his leg to where she had previously been. Ignoring the occurrence, Kat simply focused on making her way to the finish line.

Train scanned the area 'sh*t' he thought to himself, the other team had designated a hunter as well, he had to go quickly. Barreling straight towards the hunter, he had to take him out. He closed the distance in a matter of seconds.

"Well to looks like I would run with the guy after all." Haru smirked as he continued on his run, against some cat girl and the boy. It looked like he would do this unhindered allowing the hunter to serve as a distraction while he gained ground at a monstrous rate. Well the enemy did so too, but he gained a bit more speed when she jumped. And since he gained an advantage in speed, distance would soon follow. It's not like she could accelerate while in air after all.

He was very very close to his top speed, and even if his hunter was taken out, it was highly unlikely they would close the distance, considering they were too busy dealing with his distraction. Since this was technically a 2v2 battle, as long as one crosses the finish line, the team still won.

Too easy.
He thought worriedly as he continued to speed up, leaning forward as low as possible as he barreled through the night air. This was a dash race, minimal obstacles, so as long as his feet were on the ground, he could just keep accelerating, consequences be damned.

"Damn!" The other rider had used her jump against her and accelerated. Kat put on a burst of speed in order to catch up but he was about half a meter ahead of her. She used the music pulsing through her head to help her come up with an idea because at the rate they were going she would lose. The other rider might have had her on speed, but Kat doubted that he could match her agility. Unfortunately their current surroundings had few obstacles so she would have to get creative. The rules didn't prevent dashers from interfering with their opponents, it just recommended the job to the hunters.

As they neared the docks, Kat saw a stack of wooden crates and got an idea. She veered from behind the other rider and sped up the crates that wobbled under her weight. Kat knew that she wasn't that heavy which meant that they could probably be pushed by her. And so that's what she did while being so high up. Kat kicked the highest wooden crate in the air towards a path where the trajectory would make it land in front of her opponent. Unfortunately this action caused the rest of the crates to topple which was fine by her since she was an agility rider before a speed one. Navigating this mess would be a cinch and put her in the lead again.

Haru laughed at the action of the girl, knocking over crates to try and gain back the ground she lost. It was very creative, yet it was done with the perspective of one behind. She would most likely be able to navigate through the maze she made, and she was most likely be in the lead so after... if she did not miscalculate.

She did miscalculate.

She was not the high above him, and the crates were uneven ground to begin with, not as defining as her jump. which was not very defining at all, but given a minute or two, he would have even more of an advantage in speed. The actual act of kicking the crates required energy, something that again caused her to decelerate, by how much would influence the speed of the crate and it's trajectory. But the biggest flaw in her calculation was the balancing of it all. This would require some explanation to realize, which is probably the reason she did not take it into account.

Fully concentrated, her momentum was less than his, presumably as she was moving slower and weighed less than he did and he was still accelerating at this point. If it was all transferred to the crate, it would move just as fast as he did, give or take a few meters per second, unless it weighed heavier than she did. If it did so, all her momentum would be taken from her, and she would be forced to stop. If she did not stop, that meant that she was just that good, and she knew maximum acceleration and deceleration, or that she did not fully transfer the momentum.

Obviously it was the latter since if she knew maximum acceleration and deceleration, she would have won by now.

So the momentum of the crate was further lessened, evidenced by the fact the force was distributed to the other crates as well.

In lay man's terms, she did not kick hard enough to be a problem to him. Even if she did, he would move faster and faster before the crate would impact. It could impact, yes, definitely, but he would risk it. He leaned forwards as much as possible, just inches from the ground as he passed with the crate above him. Milliseconds ticked off like minutes as he waited to clear it...

He might have just made a mistake.

Kat smiled to herself beneath her cat mask as she jumped and dashed from crate to create and, eventually when they began to hit the ground, from splinter to splinter. She couldn't see her opponent and hoped that that was a good thing as the finish line came into view. If God forbid that she ended not winning, then that meant that she would, at the very least force a tie. There was no way that her pride would allow her to lose her first real match in Japan.

Haru made a mistake. Yeah definitely did not see that on coming. The crate would land on him before he cleared it, and he would lose the race if he did not do anything about it. But he was not stupid, he could still do something about it.

Just as the crate was over him he flung his hands forwards and brought them up against the crate, pushing backwards. To anyone who looked at him would see his arms executing a reverse windmill over his head and pushing the crate back, giving him a slight boost of speed just before the crate landed. He cleared it with not a moment too soon, already approaching the finish line. He was already a few steps before the actual finish when he heard the crashing of crates cease.

Train kicked off, he'd veered a long way from the obvious track for this. He couldn't help but grin at the sight of the middle schooler holding off that asshole he didn't like, well, screw it.

He gently leaped over the crates that had just been knocked down. Landing a few feet ahead of Haru. He kicked up a stone into the air, grabbing at as he kept speeding towards the finish line. The only people who can break the speed limiters are the Tool Toul Tou, I should easily have a higher acceleration and speed than him.

Haru smiled as the boy was over him in an instant. "Well aren't we a bit late?" He asked with a smile as he pointed to the floor, to the thing the boy most likely did not understand.

He did not decelerate in the slightest and as soon as the crates crashed, his victory was all but certain. It was two strides away, not even a metre. It would take him a single second to cross it, and that would be over. The boy over took him, but he did it much much too late to make a difference. He had already one a second before.

The finish line was behind him, 2.31 metres to be exact. He was overtaken as soon as he passed the 1.3 mark. The boy had moved in for the kill to late, Haru had lost the race to the the boy, but had won the contest between the two teams. "Now the parts if you please, and I'll pick up my regalia."

Train laughs as he casually Facepalms his mask "oh god that's perfect... You guys seriously didn't pay attention to the bet. Who on earth would bet a sub-regalia" he bursts into laughter for moment longer. Then he tosses 3 badges to him, Tool Toul Tou, Sleeping Forest and The Quakers, borderline legendary teams.

Haru took in it stride, catching the emblems from the air and glancing down at them. He allowed himself to chuckle as he saw what exactly was on them, fakes most likely. He shrugged again as he made his way to where he met his partner, most likely a member of the real Tool Toul To and gave him all three badges with a grin. "Even a newbie has skills, but how did he manage to move that fast by the end?"

"Well sorry, but you have to admit it is a bit sketchy when someone approaches you for a play, just to have a chance at these things." The hooded boy replied with a smirk as he gave him a box. "You deserve them more than I do, thanks for returning these after I was wiped. It might not mean much but sentimental value you know?" Pocketing he emblems he tapped the box once more. "The reason why he was so much faster last moment was because even if you did manage to grab as much runway, he had more raw speed. Come by me next time, we'll have all the limiters removed. Call it a sign of trust. Till next time kid."

Haru simply nodded as he looked into the box, the new set of AT gleaming in the little light. "I'll hold you to that, Chronos is the name." But whoever he partnered up with was already gone. Now he had to get to the girl to collect the other parts he had earned.
