For ranged attacks, it should be based off your Dex, plus your Proficiency bonus.

Then (if you hit), it's your weapon's damage (in your case a D8) + DEX

Yes, because you get your +4 from your Dexterity and your Proficiency, which gives you a 14, which is enough to hit their Armor Class.

As Sherwood said, your attack beats the wyvern's AC (Armor Class). so now you roll Damage to see how much you hurt it.
