After the End
The world is burnt. Nothing survives out here in the wastes. One-hundred years ago there was a great plague simply called, Fury. The disease affected 98% of the worlds human population, and 80% of the worlds domestic animal population. It ended trade, starts wars between formerly allied nations. And in a few short months of first infection the disease that started with only a sniffle, than progressed rapidly to hysteria, insanity, and mutation, had completely disintegrated all forms of society. People were left to fend to themselves. And so chaos broke loose. The now unchecked disease killed all it could... But with this disease, killed, is a loose term. The afflicted simply kept moving and mutated slowly as the disease took over their bodies.
Now in the present, the last of the human populace not affected by Fury are living in fear. Small groups of survivors, bands of raiders preying upon them for lack of weapons or drive to kill for whatever they want. But all live in fear of Fury. A small town nestled in the plains sits abandoned for many years now, a shadow of it's former self under the heat of the sun.
You awaken, not knowing where you are. Your last memories are of the old world, you don't remember what happened or why everybody is missing, why this town is in such disrepair. Wearing simple clothes; jeans, a white T-shirt, and boots. Beside you something is there, but what is it? Your vision is starting to clear up...
